#4059 - c. late 1960's EMILIO PUCCI Silk Voile Gown! The perfect fusion of Mod and Romantic! Gorgeous! Near mint condition! A unique Pucci material of a silk chiffon-like voile rather than the normal silk jersey! And as far as I'm concerned (though who asked me!), the purples, blues, and greens hues create the best looking Pucci prints! This is Pucci to perfection. Romantic low round neckline. Fitted bodice to inset waistband. The skirt has the look of a triple tier, but it's just created with the print fabric. Cuffed, full, nearly sheer sleeves. Back zipper. Measures: 33" bust, 25/26" waist (I can squeeze my 27" waist in, but can't breathe), 41" long from waist to hem. One sleeve snap needs sewing, but I can't find anything else wrong. A beauty!

#4211 - c. 1980's ALAIA, Paris Gray Flannel Wool Suit! Azzedine Alaia originally worked for Dior, Guy Laroche and Theirry Mugler. In 1981 he launched his first collection. Probably best know for his body-hugging curvaceous stretch outfits made of lycra, but if you don't quite have the perfect liposuctioned body, perhaps you'd prefer an Alaia suit? Extremely fitted style jacket at the waist and hips, but slightly oversized at the top (to accentuate the waist even more!), wide shoulders, diagonal line of buttons down front, wide pronounced lapels. Sleeves are straight, but fairly full. Measures: 34/35" bust, 27" waist, 35" hips, 20" long skirt, 23.5" sleeve from outside shoulder seam to cuff (fairly long). Do NOT hope to get on a bus in this skirt!!! You can barely walk in it! It's a complete wiggle walk skirt as it's only 34" around hemline! Excellent condition. Well tailored. Exaggerated shape... just what you would expect from Alaia!

#9488 - c. 1960's RUTH VARLAN Purple/Blue Sari Silk Gown with Woven Silver Embroidery! Of the entire collection from the DuPont Estate, I picked five pieces that are my personal favorites. Back metal zipper. With original belt. Measures: 38" bust, 30" waist, 26" long from waist to hem. Excellent condition with minor pulls and if you look closely, a couple of minor small spots, but damn it's gorgeous!! Also Listed in the Dupont / Special Category.

#6234 - c. 1930's Plum Silk Velvet Bias Cut Gown with Open Sleeves!  Not absolutely perfect, so you get a great look at a great price!  Uniquely wonderful color is hard to give it a name, but the best I figured is "plum"... but depending on the light source it's either a red plum or a purple plum.  The silk velvet almost shimmers in the light.  So go to the supermarket and pick up a plum and imagine wearing it in a soft silk velvet skimming over your body in bias cut!  Fabulous very large ruched round chenille-like collar and gathered cuffs.  Then .. ooh... a long 14" open slit up the sleeves to show a hint of skin!  Tailored empire waistline at front to hug your shape. Matching velvet belt with rhinestone buckle (many stones missing).  Again, it's a great dress on, just has a few issues (see photos).  There are 4 pinholes (two double pinhead sized) and smidge of wear near the hem.  And there is a small repair in one sleeve and one pinhole in same sleeve. Snap side. Without any issues this dress is easily three times this price! So lucky for you I'm very picky about condition and the littlest pinhole will reduce the prices dramatically! Lucky you!  Measurements are nearly impossible on bias cut dresses, so just email your tapemeasure measurements and I will let you know how it will fit you. Basically it's a small size.  On the mannequin it fits her 33" bust, 25" waist, 34" hips, 54" long from shoulder to hem.  Also listed in the 1850-1930s Category.

#6208 - c. 1950's HAYETTE, New York Pink Linen Embroidered Sundress!  Sold at The Window Shop, Cold Spring Harbor, LI, NY.   Waaah!  Too small for me :(  Barely even fits onto the mannequin and she is 33" bust, 24" waist, so you will need to be one of those waif-like girls to wear this as is... OR... if you love it enough, get creative at the back with grommets and lacing (corset-like) or some other interesting back detail to make it fit. I lived in the next town to Cold Spring Harbor, Long Island, NY growing up, so I remember this shop, I think.   Measures: 32/33" bust, 23" waist, 38" long from shoulder to hem, 23" long from waist to hem (slightly long-waisted).  Excellent condition.  Unlined to keep you cool (or as cool as you can be in a mid-weight linen). Back metal zipper. The embroidery is quite lovely.   You better buy it soon before my crash diet works and I fit into it! :)

#6546- c. 1990's BETSEY JOHNSON Black and White Cotton Strapless Sundress!  Yeah, OK.. so this isn't all that old.  Sue me!  No... on second thought... please don't!  Rather just try to understand that a pretty dress is a pretty dress of ANY era.  I just find those items I love, and hope you will love them too.  And to make it worse, I have a "thing" for Black & White that you may have noticed! :) So what have we here...  a great simple, but sweet strapless black pindotted white cotton dress with a tiny ruffle at upper bust, a wide plain waistband which gets tied up with the attached black sash, and full skirt with a great change up of material direction at the lower third!  Fully lined in cotton as well, with minor boning.  4-layers of skirting crinolines.  Comfy for those hot summer days. Back zipper.  Wear the sash a few different ways (as you see).  Mint condition.  Measures: 33/34" but, 25/26" waist, 21" long from waist to hem.

#3065 - c. early 1960's ARNOLD SCAASI Brown/Gray Silk Print Dress and Jacket! Never Worn! New/Old Stock with Original $475 Price Tag! 1958 COTY AWARD and CRDA Lifetime Achievement WINNER! How often do you find never worn vintage dresses from a top designer? I'll wait while you try to figure the answer to this question. Oh heck... I'll tell you.... hardly ever! So I am pleased to offer this to you in Mint condition. Dated prior to 1963, when Scaasi stopped designing his ready-to-wear lines to concentrate on ballgowns. Scaasi used the large chrysanthemum and floral prints in 1962. Shades of brown/gray print silk material with surprising black leather trim "bow" at waistline and black leather jacket buttons! You know it's well-designed... check out the fact that the jacket is cut to surround that leather "belt" when closed.. Has the "Scaasi" label as well as "William Penn, Pittsburgh" store label. Labeled size 10 (old sizing). Original cost in the early 1960's was an amazing $475!! What's that worth in today's dollars? More that the cost below! Now add the historic fashion value for new/old stock, it's a steal! And now that Halle Berry is single-handedly bringing back Brown (doesn't she look amazing in it?), this dress is fit in vogue! 34/35" bust, 25" waist.

#4829 - c. 1940's CLAIRE McCARDELL Black Cotton Dress! Let me start by saying that the black patent belt doesn't come with the dress, but there may have been some kind of similar belt originally.  I also show this dress worn in a few different ways!  I'm not sure what Claire had in mind, but I like my bow! :)  The ties are attached at the shoulders and just hang down, so can be worn crossed over the bodice (as she has done) and tied in front or back. Since Ms. McCardell prided herself in "easy to wear" dresses, perhaps this was ment to go from day to evening as I show it... could be worn with a rhinestone belt for even fancier look!  Has the classic McCardell brass hook at the neck.  Stitched down pleated skirt. Measures: 36" bust, up to 28" waist, 30" long from waist to hem, 18" long from shoulder to waist (long-waisted).  Excellent condition... with only a sticky metal zipper at side.

#3912 - c. 1950 RARE, EARLY ORIGINAL EMILIO (PUCCI) SPORTSWEAR, Capri, Italy label Black and Silver Heavy Brocade Sunsuit! I love the bio for Emilio Pucci! Born a Marchese from an aristocratic noble Florentine family, Emilio earned a doctorate in political science, served as a career pilot for the Italian Air Force and was member of the Italian Olympic Ski Team! According to his bio, in 1947 while skiing one day on the slopes of St. Moritz, a reporter from Harper's Bazaar noticed Pucci and his outfit. After taking some photos, the editor discovered that Pucci had designed his own skiwear, and invited him to create some pieces for a photo session about winter fashion. Pucci's designs were featured in the winter 1948 magazine. In 1949, Pucci opened his first shop in Capri with his first collection in 1950. As the first member of his family to work in a thousand years, he spared his family's vanity by signing his designs simply "Emilio". His first pieces (like this one) were sewn personally by Emilio from his small Capri studio! He designed casual wear, and introduced the new "Capri pants" which took the fashion world by storm. It's possible this label only existed for a couple years (still researching that). By the 1960's, Pucci's colorful wild fabrics we a fashion staple... and the Pucci look we all know today. The fabric is a surprisingly heavy stiff silver on black brocade. The bra/bandeau top is strapless, and comes up into little points at the top of each bust, with boning and button back (has some hooks at top, so there might have been a removable halter strap). The shorts have a heavy metal side zipper. The label is Emilio's Made in Italy with a little Mountain with Capri under it, with "46". Measures: Any size bust as the buttons can be moved to fit!), 27" waist, up to 39" hips, 15" long shorts on sides, 16" long at crotch. Excellent, near mint condition. This is a rare, and unusual vintage find for a Pucci collector, so don't miss out! MUSEUM collectable!

#9207 - c. 1970's "MOLLIE PARNIS, New York" Beaded and Embroidered Net Sheath Dress with Separate Jersey Slip! OK.. I had this dress listed incorrectly, but I just saw the same dress (actually gown) at auction (note:  that gown sold for $840) with the original Mollie Parnis label. So... since it was the exact duplicate, we have to assume that this is, indeed, a Mollie Parnis, New York.   Top-quality beading and embroidery detailing on netting, Rich looking! Metallic threads of silver and gold, pink silk embroidery, silver and clear bugle beads, amber and and clear crystals. Comes with the nude jersey slip. Gorgeous!! Measures: up to 38" bust, up to 40" hips, 44" long from shoulder to hem. Get creative and wear with a ribbon belt for slightly different look. Note, I stuffed the sleeve bottoms with tissue paper... so it looks slightly different in the photo only. Interesting hemline which accentuates the netting. Snap back. MUCH prettier in person!! Excellent condition, except for some beading missing on sleeve ends. You can fill in with just about any sparkly beading and it will suffice (not perfect, so if you are a perfectionist... I'd suggest something else). However if you want a sparkly gorgeous dress... well.... this is one of those dresses you can just sit and stare at and never get tired of it!

# 4966 - c. 2000's KATE SPADE, New York Embroidered Metallic Linen Two-Tiered Wrap Skirt! I'm obviously out of the loop as I didn't even know that Kate Spade had an apparel line (I found this skirt in a resale shop), I just know her accessories. But her apparel pieces seem to be fairly rare, as even on the kate spade website, there are only a hand- full of apparel pieces for sale! So what's up?   This is obviously a great skirt, so perhaps she just needs my help to get her apparel business up and running? :)  This is a true wrap skirt so it will fit most of you.  It's a wonderful brushed golden color of a fairly shiny metallic 100% linen with large black embroidered design of flowers, vines, and three different animals.  Due to the black linen underskirt that peeks out the bottom, the embroidery evoke the look of silhouettes or cutouts.  Near Mint condition.  24" long.

# 4805 - c. 1945 CASA DRESDEN, Cochabamba Dark (nearly black) Navy Wool Suit with Tie Belt and Gray Persian Lamb Trim! Ok.. here's your geography lesson for the day. And you just thought this was a vintage clothing website! :) Cochabamba is a city in central Bolivia. As I read "the city is known for its moderate climate and often called Bolivia's "Resort City", "Garden City" or "City of Eternal Spring". Sounds great... but then WHAT did this highly fashionable woman need such a heavy winter suit for???? Can anyone say "Global Warming??" Looks like Al Gore is on the right track... must be a heck of a lot warmer there now! So now think Eva Peron to evoke the glamour of this great fashionable suit. Interesting seaming detailing on jacket, with the lovely gray persian lamb trim on deep pockets, lapels and those "star trek" decorative inverted "v"s at upper chest. Simple basic side metal zipper skirt with back kick pleat. Fully lined jacket. Skirt measures: 25" waist, 36/37" hips, 27" long from waist to hem. Jacket is nearly impossible to measure as it's a wrap style... the bust could fit up to 38" bust likely, and no closures at the waist, it's 14" across back between armseams, 16" across shoulders, 25" long from back neck to hem. Excellent condition. Go vintage and wear with ankle strap shoes and red lipstick, or go modern and wear great jacket with jeans! Great look! Rare label.

# 4865 - c. 1990's CHRISTIAN DIOR BOUTIQUE, Paris Numbered Label Black Jacquard Fancy Tuxedo Pants Suit with Organdy Lapels!  Feels like the finest silk you have ever felt, however the label says it's a blend of Viscose and Acetate. Hard to believe!! Really... you will love the feel of this! It's a tuxedo suit... with flat front pants that have a tuxedo satin stripe down sides, high waist and side zipper. Beside the gorgeous fabric, it's the organdy-type fabric double layer lapels that make this so fancy and special. The jacket has no closures and can be worn open or wrapped as you see. Note: the sash is not part of the suit, I just used one to show you how it might look wrapped and belted.  You may prefer it open.  The finest tailored pieces match patterns perfectly at seams!  Check out this beauty!!  Obviously a top-of-the-line Dior suit.  Both pieces fully lined.  Measures: Hard to measure bust as it's open to waist, 31" waist, up to 40" hips jacket for wrapped jacket, up to 44" hips pants, 16/5" across jacket back between armseams, 17" long sleeve underarm to cuff, , 8" flat width across hem of tapered legs. # 9819 - c. early 1970's WILSON FOLMAR Wild Print Silk Twill Dress with Matching Small Shawl! This may have been one of the last dresses designed by Wilson Folmar as he designed from 1936-1972.  Per vintagefashionguild.org: Starting as head designer for prestigious department store Jay-Thorpe, he went on to design for Edward Abbott in 1957 and then on to his own company in 1964 producing medium to high priced cocktail and evening clothes (price ranging from $150 - $1500!!!! - in the late 1960's-early 70's a huge mansion could cost only $100K!!!!). Quite an interesting dress!  The cuffs and hemline and edge of the small matching triangular shawl are like a fabric fringe, but more like cutouts. Oh heck, just look at the photos. I can't possibly describe with my limited vocabulary!  Nor will I try to describe the print.  But I will tell you that this dress gives you a lovely cleavage with it's low rounded neckline and curved empire waistband.  Measures: 33/34" bust, 27" high waistline, 46" long from shoulder to dress bottom with additional 4.5" "fringe" which makes for a long sleeve length. Scarf measures 44" x 18".  Fits tightly under the arms (as was the style of the time).  Back metal zipper.  Excellent condition with just one line of dirt at upper back (shown in photo - try to find it!).

Donald Brooks is becoming more and more a collectable label. This dress is in Near Mint condition.  Black nubby, fairly substantial weight linen with silk lining.  Wide box pleating on skirt and gathered waist covered with thin tie belt.  Button back upper and zipper lower. The decoration is heavy circles of cording around neckline and waistline.  Measures: 34" bust, 24" waist, 38"+ hips, 23.5" long from waist to hem.  Silk lined.  The interior waistband measures 22", but you don't need to close that.. and who could? :) !

This dress came from the same lot as the Valentino Couture linen dress owned by Queen Noor of Jordan!  There are no labels in this dress, but it's the same quality good-weight linen and the white lace bodice is elegant and lined with nude material ... and the shape is certainly lady-like and regal enough to make me wonder if indeed it was owned by the Queen as well. No guarantees, but seems a good possibility!   Measures: 36" bust, up to 27.5" waist, 29.5" ribcage (top of waistband), 41" long from shoulder to hem. Excellent condition.

#4337 - c. 1960 BARENTZEN'S BAZAAR, Roma, Made in Italy Black Textured Silk Peau-de-Cygne "Mermaid" Evening Gown! Collectable Designer gown! From the 1959 pages of Vogue Magazine, 23-year-old Patrick de Barentzen was described as "the daring young man of the Italian couture whose collection is full of dash, fun and ideas". He quickly rose as a darling of Italian designers along with the likes of Galitzine, Valentino, Simonetta, Fabiani, Capucci, Fontana, and Forquet. Couture quality tailoring. The inside is as pretty as the outside! Black textured heavy silk material (which I was told was peau-de-cygne. So I looked it up for you... "a very soft satin fabric, woven in fine soft yarns with a lustrous finish". Yup... it's peau-de-cygne!) evening gown designed with an interesting tailored "tiered" effect. Fishtail at back and tulip shape at front of hemline gives one the impression of a mermaid. Great for the fisherman in your life! :) Might be the only way to attract his attention unless you can grow gills. Back metal zipper. Superb maroon (though I call it red plum as that's the closest I can come to the right color!) velvet bias cut evening gown with long sleeves, upper sleeves puffed, with lower sleeve tightly buttoned (11 buttons on each!), small ruffle at neck. There is actually a very subtle stripe to the velvet making it look even more impressive. The bodice is seamed to accentuate the bustline. The gown hugs your curves and will drive him wild as he attempts to imagine what you look like with the dress off rather than on! :) Very good  condition, though there seems to be a tear at the side. Size you ask??? Well... since it's bias, it will stretch to fit a variety of bodies.. So.. if you are interested in this dress, please just email me your measurements (no cheating... get out the tape measure!) and I will let you know how it will work on you. Here's your ONLY chance to buy THE gown you saw coming down the runway on Bravo's hit show "Project Runway". Designed by Season 2 winner, Chloe... this was by far (in my opinion), the best looking gown of the entire season! Purchased directly from Bravo TV, this gown still has the double stick tape inside the bust to keep it looking great on the model (as left) as she sashayed down the catwalk, AND comes with the original two goldtone bangle bracelets. The tailoring of this gown is totally professional. The material is fabulous! A green woven cotton gauze chiffon lined in glorious feeling silk with tulip embroidery and clear sequin/beads for just a hint of glitter. Empire waist with low cleavage front and back. Two long flowing "tails" at back to flutter along with the hem of the gown as you walk. Looks amazing on as long as you have small cup size breasts. If my breasts were smaller, I would keep this in a heartbeat! Measures: 33" bust, 25" waist, 62" long from shoulder to hem. NOTE: INVESTMENT PIECE! Imagine owning Calvin Klein's first collection piece.. or Donna Karan, or Ralph Lauren... or any top designer! Who knows what future value this dress may have if Chloe "makes it big"!

# 4693 - c. 1980's STAVROPOULOS Wild and Dreamy Chiffon Gown! For all you fairy princesses out there! Sexy bodice top gown under, covered with a wild printed chiffon or flowers and large dots. The shoulders are huge.. held up with sheer stiffening!! But amazingly, this gown doesn't overwhelm even the shortest, smallest women. FYI, George Stavropoulos was a Greek designer whose flowing chiffon gowns were expensive, never mass produced, and coveted by celebrities and the well-to-do. Stavropoulos's designs were simple and clean, relying on the beauty of their silhouettes and chiffon fabrics. He continued designing until his death in 1990. Now.. back to the dress.... The waist scarf is mine.. doesn't come with the gown. Go find your own in whatever color suits you, or wear without. Back zipper. Measures: 33" bust, 25" waist, 42" long from waist to hem. Tomato red silk twill in a striking floral pattern of pinks and greens. Wide scoop neckline, shore sleeves, fitted bodice to stiffened bubble skirt studded with bows. # 4558 - c. 1980's ANDREA ODICINI, Giorgio Beverly Hills Movie Star Quality Silk Satin Gown! Thanks to one of my very knowledgeable customers, I have information on Andrea Odicini for you! He is considered by Italian women who know couture to rank along side, or even above, Valentino,... who is known to also pay Odicini great homage!! Odicini ranks tops and is absolutely revered. His creations were/are absolutely coveted... although he is not well known outside of Italy. From a wealthy Genoese family, he was able to pick and chose his clientele. If he did not like you, or if he thought that you did not understand fabrics and construction, he would not design for you! When he moved his atelier from Rome to Genoa, many women would journey to Genoa just to buy his creations because no one could equal his collections. He is the best of the best... bar none. He has incredible style, and his dresses are beautifully made.. inside and out -- just incredible. And, of course, they are costly, but Odicini would never ever compromise quality of fabric (using the best silks etc.) and the finest construction, so women were happy to pay his prices because they knew what they were getting. In the 80's, he finally agreed to make a ready-to-wear line, but his creations were still ultra costly. Bottomline.. Odicini equals incredible works of art! So.. for you... an ecru silk satin gown with button sleeves. Likely had shoulder pads at some time, but if you are tall, it can be worn without. Huge pearl and smoky glass ornament at front. Now take a look at all the photos! I used a bit of imagination to change the look of the gown by just moving the "tails" front and back, around the waist, or draped on hips. Have fun with it! Not sure what was originally intended, but I believe (by the same knowledgeable person) that Odicini likely originally made the design for Gina Lollabrigida, as she peronally saw her wearing it in Cannes, France!

Condition: Excellent condition with just minor satin pulls (no more than you would find in a store today!). Measures: 36" bust, 26" waist, up to 36" hips, 59" long from shoulder to hem. Back zipper. Be a Hollywood star!

Fabulous double-breasted plush coat... interesting fabric.. I'm sure there is a name for it, but alas... my lack of education is showing! Don't tell anyone! The fabric feels like something between a silk velvet and a silk corduroy (though the fabric label in the pocket reads "silk, acetate, acrylic, polyamine." Though I don't know if the label is correct to the coat.. so... I guess if you know polymine to the touch... you are a heck of a lot smarter than I! :) Whatever it is.. its fabulous to the touch. The only thing to mention is that since it's from the (nearly) 1970s, the underarms are tighter than we wear items today.  It was the cut from that era.  None will be different.  It's just something to keep in mind from the 1970's.  It will feel tighter than we expect... so if you want to feel roomier, than you should go the size smaller (size 6). Does that make sense or am I rambling??? :)   However... all that being said... it measures:  37" bust,  up to 37" waist, up to 42" hips, 15.5" across the back, 24" sleeve from top of shoulder seam to cuff, 45" long from shoulder to hem.  It's a very classy, almost dressy coat. Excellent condition.. with just a tiny patch of lining torn under one arm not seen at all on outside (see photo), and one button that needs to be sewn back on (it's in the pocket... I pinned it on for the photograph, but you really don't want me to attempt to sew it. Really... you don't! :) Also in the pocket is more tag info from Bergdorf Goodman.   Why JUST wear a coat.. wear an investment piece!  Also listed in the Furs, Etc. Category

Three time Coty Award Winner, Emmy Winner and Oscar and Tony Nominee!  Featured in Harper's Bazaar Oct. 1970 Ad!  Donald Brooks, a costume designer for Broadway, television and film, whose clients included Jackie Kennedy, Princess Grace and Barbra Streisand is well-known to those in the know... and can be found in many a museum collection.  Most of the gowns found today are his slinky jersey gowns.  Rare to find a higher-level, more couture Donald Brooks gown! Here is a glamorous black lace gown trimmed with metallic chenille over a nude lining.  Black satin ribbon and bow at waist with pale pink silk roses.  Scalloped "v" neckline, hemline and belled sleeve ends.  Buttons close the upper back, and zipper at lower back.  Measures:  33-35" bust, 27/28" waist, full hips, 53" long from shoulder to hem - I just found out why it's short (best for 5' with heels, up to 5'2" without heels).... it's supposed to be a midi length according to the ad!  The "New Look" in 1970! However, if you are short and prefer this to be floor-length, it looks great for that as well.  Bell sleeves are long. Perfect, Excellent condition.  Very collectible and beautiful to wear! Note: if you have VERY sensitive skin like mine (I have trouble even with cashmere!), this will be too scratchy for you).

# 4580 - c. 1980's (attributed to) EAVIS & BROWN, London Mocha Silk Chiffon Gown Encrusted with Beads, Rhinestones, Sequins, etc.! This gown comes directly from the historic Chew family of Cliveden Mansion, in the Germantown area of N.W. Philadelphia, PA since 1763. The mansion is now part of the National Trust. So you can't have the mansion.. but you can have the gown! Obviously they had the money to buy the best, and I knew this was a quality gown, but there is no label.... however, in my research, I found an Eavis & Brown gown of the same design, so....   I can pretty much say for sure it's Eavis & Brown.  Great mocha colored silk chiffon with every square inch covered with beads, rhinestones, or sequins! Egyptian in design with large trompe o'oeil belt and buckle! Fully lined. The photos were taken with the wide 1980's shoulder pads still attached... however, I removed them to make sure it was possible to wear with more modern shape, and indeed... it's perfect without the pads! So... the dress is even more perfectly beautiful now! Has a great rounded slit at front of skirt matching the cuffline. Excellent condition.. I see only two beads missing near one shoulder! They may be more, but those are the only two spotted. Hidden back zipper. Measures: 36" bust, up to 30" waist, up to 38" hips, 59" long from shoulder to hem.

# 4547 - c. 1930's A Registered Original Design with Fashion Originators Guild Printed Chiffon Gown with Matching "Blouse/Jacket"! LARGER SIZE! If you have read through enough of my rantings and ravings, you will know that I rarely like prints. I find most of them too jarring, just too much. Perhaps it's because I'm small and short (Thank goodness there are a few other midgets...ah, er, shorties like Eva Longoria "in vogue"! ) and I think I become invisible under all that print. OR maybe... I just don't like prints! :) Did you ever think of THAT!? However... I DO like this print.. therefore it gets a place on my website. Lucky dress! I'm also a sucker for gray, so that helps. Gray background silk chiffon printed with fuchsia tulips and green leaves. Comes with the matching original belt, the original huge silk flower at bust (however, that is stained and tired so you might want a new flower) AND comes with the original matching overblouse/jacket which can be worn straight and open, or tied up (I shown both way). I like the gown separately myself.. and then use the blouse for other outfits. Measures: up to 42" bust, up to 38" waist!! up to 42" hips, 56" long from shoulder to hem. Marked size 40. Original taupe silk slip is attached. Excellent condition with the following mentions... minor spots on the slip, and minor darkening at the back of one armhole - difficult to see due to design and color (see close-up photos).  Also listed in the 1850-1930s Category.

# 2854 - c. 1950's Black Velvet One-Shouldered Gown with Black Drop Beading and Attached Shawl! I have kept this in my personal closet for years!! I just couldn't bear to sell it. I kept hoping that my hips would somehow miraculously shrink and I could comfortably wear this gown. However, I have finally come to the realization that unless I remove my wide hipbones... it's never gonna happen. No matter how thin I get (within reason), I will never have less than 37" hips... and this dress needs 36" hips. I can get the gown on, and I can stand in front of the mirror and enjoy looking at myself in it... but can't sit, so I guess that's that. The gown is now available to one of you lucky thin-hipped gals. Waaahhhhh! The gown is a soft black velvet, one shouldered thin sheath gown with fitted waistline a well as empire seaming with fabulous heavy black drop beading off of heavy black gimp braiding on the empire bodice AND on the edge of the attached shawl!!! A unique design. You can let the shawl hang straight down the back behind right sleeve... or meant to be worn over the left arm as shown. Measures: 34/35" bust, 26" waist, 36" hips.

# 4449 - c. 1980's VERA WANG Black Satin Gown with Black Net Upper Back and "Overskirt"! This gown is FAB.. great black satin material, low "v" neckline with teeny lapels, fitted bodice, totally "naked" upper back of netting only. Slim skirt with the attached overskirt at the back!! I always buy these gowns with the overskirts .. they are my particular favorite. Very Audrey Hepburn in "Sabrina". Measures: 34" bust, 26" waist, up to 38" hips, 39" long from waist to hem. There are 3 tiny breaks in the netting.. one at side waist, on a mid back that I can't seem to find again, and the worst one at the back of one shoulder. I would probably have a seamstress just add a few stitches to the break at the side, and then I would cover the shoulder hole with a black (or heck, colored) applique or flower. It would actually add interest! AND cover the problem. Easily done. Just use some of your imagination.. oh and while you are at it.. can you PLEASE imagine that I pressed this gown???? So Sorry... I was in a rush, but you get the idea (I hope).. the wrinkles WILL come out!... oh and also, the back zipper WILL close all the way,,, just not on my hunchback mannequin (don't tell her I called her that! She might sic a lawsuit on me!!).

#9914 - c. 1980's AURELIE MARCIANO, Paris Pastel Beaded Silk Satin Fantasy Wedding Gown or Ballgown! The most incredible white silk satin ballgown delicately covered in pink, light blue, gold, copper, white, silver and clear sead beads in a floral vine design.  Fantasy gown shape with flattering "v" dropped waistline, large puffed sleeves, "v" neckline, and openfront skirt.  Think Cinderella's ballgown, or a Princess Renaissance gown ... or Glinda's Wizard of Oz gown!  All you need is a tall crowned hat and wand!  This is NOT a cheap knock-off of a gown.  In order to confirm that to you, I did a Google search for Aurelie Marciano, Paris.  What popped up is a bit of an interesting fashion history lesson.  Seems when Vera Wang was looking for a new career in 1990, she opened a bridal salon carrying the best of the best of wedding gowns.  The high-class salon carried her own designs as well as special gowns by other top designers such as Carolina Herrera, Victor Edelstein, Scaasi and Aurelie Marciano!  In a New York Times article from Sept 5, 1990, it reads: "Many dresses in the salon are highly ornamental.... The idea is to have merchandise you can't find elsewhere.  One of Victor Edelstein's designs is an off-the shoulder column of peau-de-soie with a bouffant overskirt ($27,500).  A more typical wedding dress is a full-skirted Marciano design of tissue-thin white damask with flowers and beadwork covering the bodice for $11,000.  Again these are 1990 prices!!!  With inflation... likely well over $25,000 for a Marciano gown with this much beading!!!!  Excellent condition with only one flaw... a spot on one shoulder puff (see photos).  You can try to see if a cleaner can get it out, or pinch a little of the puff and tack so it disappears, or cover with a bead or two or bow.  Otherwise, the gown is near Mint condition with even all the beading intact!  Shown with an extra crinoline under (doesn't come with it).  Back zipper. I doubt you will ever find another gown that even comes close if this is the style you are seeking. Measures: 36" bust, up to 29" waist, 57" long from shoulder to hem with extra 3" under hem.  Also listed in the Wedding Category.

# 2747 - c. 1960's GALANOS(?) or YVES SAINT LAURENT (?) Black Silk Gauze and Black Sequin Overdress! There are no labels on this dress, but the person I purchased if from thought it was a Galanos... I think it looks more like YSL from 1967 (similar sheer sequined dress shown). I have no way to verify that.. so.. I will just pass the information on to you and you can decide! Originally this might have been worn sheer on the runway, or with black slip/underdress under.  A simple 1920's style slip can be whipped up - which is a silk tube (large enough to get on over your head), sew up one side seam and add ribbon straps and voila! You can even make the black underdress longer than this overdress (so underdress sticks out the bottom... creating more of a tunic look). Or sew up a nude underdress and you will draw crowds of men as you will look naked under! Weeeee! What fun! Think Anita Morris in the original Broadway play "Nine". Her x-rated black body-stocking costume (now in a museum) had a similar look. Black sheer silk gauze sheath covered with bold floral black sequins. Trimmed at mock turtleneck, cuffs and hemline with tighter sequins. Add a belt or tie, or wear straight. Closes with black snaps at back. Excellent condition. Measures: 36/37" bust, up to 36" waist, up to 42" hips, 52" long from shoulder to hem.
