#5361 - c. 1980's FERRAGAMO Red Suede Wedge Shoes with Gold Ornaments!  So these shoes still have the original price tag inside one of the shoes.  Original price of $245, reduced  to $171.97, then to $146.97, and finally to $122.50 when they were purchased... but as you can see, this label is hardly touched, so even though there is a bit of wear to the sole, and one dirt mark on one side of the toe, they were likely not worn more than once or twice.  So, I'm looking for Cinderella with a size 6.5A foot.  WHY??  As they are marked size 8AAAA??  Well, I have NO idea... all I can tell you is that I wear 6.5 M (with a slightly ever so wider than medium foot), and I can wear these (!) though they are just a slightly bit thin, but still not bad.  Perhaps a size 6A as well, as I guess they are perhaps a bit small as well, but it's hard to tell as my wider foot might be using up a bit of length.  Perhaps this is why they didn't sell at the higher price!  Mystery solved!  Even at this, the shoes are marked 8AA inside, but someone wrote 8 4A on the tag, and then continued to penmark in the additional two A's inside the shoes!!!  WHATEVER!   NEW LISTING! Under $150, so Final Sale.

#5650 - c. 1960's PACELLE, Saks Fifth Avenue Brown Suede Heels with Brown Satin Bows! Pacelle was a brand made in Italy for Saks during the 1950's and 60's. Obviously they were highly coveted, as in my quick research, I found a Marilyn Monroe costume where she wore Pacelle shoes with it... and below is a photo of a pair of Pacelle shoes donated to the Metropolitan Museum of New York for their Costume Institute!  Pacelle shoes sold for similar prices to the famous Roger Vivier at approximately $25-$40 in the 1960s.  These brown suede shoes have been worn, but have plenty of life left in them.  They are marked size 6.5A (or is that AA?), but my wide foot will fit into them, so they can't be too thin.  However, you will still want a thinner foot than mine to be comfy.  "Excellent" condition with the moderate wear to the sole as you see in the photos.  NEW LISTING! Under $150, so Final Sale.

I wish I could play some scary music when you click on the hat photo!!  But never fear, these are not real birds flocking on your head... these are 4-5 faux birds made up of striped brown, white, gray with tinges of orange feathers...  with feather quills dyed to an orange color to form the birds beaks! All on a light brown felt "platter".  Held one the head with a wide matching loop at back as well as a thin elastic (worn under the hair).  The original veiling is still attached.  Excellent condition.  NEW LISTING!

#6613 - c. 1941 Northridge Victoria Pigeon Crest Feather Taupe Velvet Hat! OK... this hat came to me from the same museum collection as many of the others you see.  He called these feathers "Victoria Pigeon Crest", so I'm just passing that information on to you.  The hat itself is a unique shape. Stiff to stand practically straight up, looking something like a taupe velvet clam with matching rope bow inside.  At the back, as you see, the feathers fan up fabulously! And then the back covers the back crown of your head with the tiny elastic band to hide under your hair to stay on.  This hat would have been marked higher if perfect, but as you will see from the close-up photos, the velvet has a bit of wear and "bruising" marks and one area at the front brim that is worn.  Priced to reflect the condition.  Still a remarkable look!   NEW LISTING!

#3936 - c. 1930's New York Creation Black Felt Cutwork Hat! I've said it before and I'll say it again, the best hats are those that quickly evoke the era with it's special shape. Well, baby, how's this beauty?? Amazing shape, slightly conical, with pierced cutwork brim all in black felt. There might be ever-so-slightly creases in the brim... on purpose to create that "edgy" look.  Black grosgrain bow at back. Really Excellent. A gotta have. 22" label and that is correct. Katherine Hepburn would have loved this hat!  Most recently worn on stage in a production of "The Women" (worn by the character of "Sylvia" - played by Rosalind Russell in the 1939 movie).

Reminds me of the shape of a galactic time warp (you will probably only know this if you ever watched Star Trek).   The late 1930s and 1940s had some of the best hats.  You don't have to look any further than this hat to confirm that statement! :)  Wavy navy (ooh, that rhymes :)  stiff hat fully trimmed in red velvet around the edge of brim and crown, with crossed "bow" at back.  And then comes that spray of "cherries" at front! :)  Cool! This one is a teal blue/green and is pointed shaped "floppy" hat with a "bowl" at the top (please don't put your cereal and milk in it! :)  Has a terrific large iridescent black feather at back!  So you will look great coming and going.  Excellent condition with just a bit of makeup around the inside. #5171 - c. 1940's LAIRD SCHOBER & CO. Alligator Platform Peep Toe Sandals! From Hollywood, CA!  First off, Laird Schober & Co is a great label!  The company was founded originally as Laird, Schober and Mitchell in 1869! Yup, this is not a typo! The company name was changed to "Laird Schober & Co." in 1894!  "High grade shoes" was the aim of the firm, and this remained true throughout the years, as you can see by the label inside these shoes quoting "Exquisite Footwear".  These were sold on Wilshire Boulevard in Hollywood.  You can just imagine the likes of Joan Crawford wearing these sandals!  In terrific condition!  And amazingly in a LARGE size.  Marked 11aaa, so I assume these would work for you if you wear about a 10, or perhaps 10.5.  Certainly WAY too large for my 6.5 foot.  Barely look worn from the top, so there's plenty of wear left in them.

#6409 - c. 1944 The White House, San Francisco Navy Felt Doll Hat with Fabulous Long Red Feathers!  If only my mannequin head didn't have molded hair, you could see this hat placed correctly on her head.  But as you see, the magnificently different back of the hat is pulled out a bit from her hair.  Assuming you don't have molded hair... it will fit you better! :)  Great little navy felt cap to be worn tilted on the forehead.  The back has a bow and straps of the same navy felt.  And then... ta da... the large shock of long red feathers attached at the back, and curling all the way to the front.  WOW!  From the prestigious "The White House" which was a chain of department stores in various cities.  I believe it closed in San Francisco in the 1960s. Consumer Protection label inside and labeled 22 (which is the standard women's head size).  Excellent condition!

#6344 - c. 1917 MAY SMITH, Paris / New York Sapphire Blue Velvet Toque with  Caramel Colored Braid and Blue Beads!  Another amazing hat from the museum collection I was lucky enough to purchase.  Although not in pristine condition, for a toque should sweep you off your feet!  Dynamite color of a sapphire blue silk velvet gathered in front and around back and plain over the crown.   And then comes the tiara!  Yes, look at the side photos of this hat.... the caramel colored, tightly decorated silk braid with those "ameba" shaped areas of matching sapphire blue beads, is attached like a tiara!  Unique.... as were many of the hats of this WWI era... because during wars, hats were often the focus.  This hat is shown on my mannequin with the slightly large head, and it fits her!  So... if hats are always too small for you, this should fit! As you can see, the condition issues are minor but there.  The velvet is dirty at the gatherings, and there is an area of velvet thinning at back.  Also, as you see, a bit of caramel braiding missing at the edges (showing the white through).   But even with all that said, it's damn great!  Terrific Paris, New York label!

#3420 - c. 1875-1900 RARE C.M. Haskell, New Bedford, Mass. Female Black Beaver Riding Hat!  I can't swear to it, but I firmly believe this was a riding hat!  Not just a fashion statement.  As you can see there was elastic attached on the interior that has torn, but no fashion hat of that era had elastic... so... Excellent condition with just extreme minor scratches on beaver fur seen under some lights ... really near mint! Fairly lightweight. Trimmed in wide leather band around interior.  Measures:  8" x 10" oval x 6" high. Too small for most normal sized heads today to wear securely on the head.  Was probably worn on top of a mass of hair.

#5091 - RARE c. mid 1700's or mid-18th Century Shoes! Watered Silk Faille Light Tan Fabric!  PLEASE NOTE: the Buckles are for Show only.   I'm showing these early shoes with buckles (that aren't of the correct era, but somewhat of the right look) just to give you an idea of what they would have looked like when worn.  The rest of the photos show the shoes as they are.  The watered silk faille is all trimmed in a matching silk braid.  Hard to describe the condition.  For the age they are Excellent, with just extremely minor issues of wear - mostly at the edges.  The photos will really describe the condition better than words. There are pinholes on the tabs where the buckles would have been attached over the years. They are 99% intact..... and structurally very sound! Interior sole is brown leather in fabulous condition. Bottom leather sole is mostly sueded now having lost the top layer, but still in great condition.  An amazingly early pair of shoes not often found on the open market!  Measure: 3" wide x 9" long   Also Listed in the 1700-1840s and Museum Categories.

#6840 - c. late 1920's/early 1930's I. MILLER Colorful Brocade Flapper Shoes with Crossed Straps!  I know, I know..... they look great!  And they are even a large size... BUT these are really best for display or your shoe collection.  Although they look nearly perfect on the exterior, the leather has suffered a bit on the inside... and the straps are a fragile so would need re-enforcing to wear without worry.  One of the tips of one strap has already met its demise.  Again, for show they are glorious! Colorful silk and bronze metallic brocade in a wild pattern! Gold leather trim at the sides and oh, the ruby satin footbed!  Sexy toe cutouts in teardrop shapes.  I even love the excellent condition "Cats Paw" heel tips (if you look through old magazines of the era, you will often see "Cats Paw" ads!).  The shoes were sold at Fontius in Denver (the paper tag is still on the bottoms). I'm pricing these based on the fact that they will likely not be worn... so it's just for collector.  If in great condition, they could be priced at more than twice this price!

#0280 - c. mid 19th Century Steel Beaded Miser's Purse! A beauty. This purse has been in my personal collection for about 15 years!  I used to have a display for all my purses, but since I moved, that perfect spot no longer exists, so...  best to let my lovelies go live with someone else for a change!  This purse is in near Mint condition.... with fabulous twisted steel beaded fringe on both ends.   The entire piece is covered with the same steel beads. These purses were often worn folded over a lady's belt and were also known as a "long purse", or "stocking purse".  I read that the "miser's purse" name came from the fact that it's so hard to get anything out of it!  I don't know if this is true, or now just a fable, but it's certainly true in fact. Really mostly for show now anyway as it's not the right shape for a credit card! :)

#9792a - c. early 1940's Saks Fifth Avenue Satin Wedding Sandals!  I know for sure that these were wedding shoes as I saw the gown they went with... otherwise I wouldn't have thought so! Rare to find flats (or what I call as flats) rather than heels for a wedding... so you start to think that perhaps her husband-to-be was on the short side??  Hmmm?   She didn't want to tower over him at the ceremony.  Nice gal!  And nice shoes in a wearable size.  Marked 6.5B... and as you can see there is even more room for my toes, so this might fit to size 7.  As for condition, they are great on the top and the straps.  There is a tiny darkening of the satin on the sides near the sole, but really the only issue is the darkening of the satin on the heel/side platform.  Looks like perhaps the glue seeped through.  So... the best thing to do is get a bit creative and recover the heels with whatever fabric or appliques appeal to you!  Might be fun to create your own masterpiece!   Under $150 so final sale.

Mr Vivier designed shoes for Christian Dior for most of the 1950's and early 60's.  But perhaps his most iconic design was the "Pilgrim Pump" (from what I read they were made popular from Catherine Deneuve in the film Belle de Jour).  So these are what you want in Vivier!  Gold lame with tiny rhinestone buckles.  Sold at Saks Fifth Avenue.  Where the shoes have rubbed together, there is cracked gold,  and one small section of gold lost there on one shoe.  Extremely light reddish spot on on buckle end.  A couple tiny rhinestones missing. Just not mint condition... still very shiny and pretty!!  And in a very wearable size! Labeled 9A.   Under $150 so final sale.

#6386 - c. 1888 Mourning Bonnet of Black Straw and Crape Trim with Silk "Berries"!  Not all black bonnets were "mourning" bonnets or hats.  You are really looking for the ones with the special crinkly "crape anglaise" (mourning crape - spelled with an "a" to indicate mourning crape) material specifically used by widows.  This bonnet would have been used for in "second mourning" as it's only trimmed in the black crape.  The rest of the bonnet is black straw and black silk - used to create interesting black "berries" at the top of the bonnet.  In addition there are wired crape leaves. Excellent condition.  A great addition to your Victorian collection or mourning collection!  This one is certainly my favorite of the mourning bonnets I've seen.

#4605 - c. 1890's RARE, EARLY MADAME SUZY, 5 Rue de la Paix, Paris Black Fancy Beaded Bonnet with Pink Velvet Flowers!  Perhaps the Premier Milliner of the Last 150 years! I am having a great deal of trouble trying to get early information on Madame Suzy. I had another Madame Suzy hat from 1912, but there is next to no information on this famous milliner online!  And I'm a fairly good Googler.   This is certainly the earlier Madame Suzy I have ever seen... and the earliest even Sue Langley (the author of the collector's "bible": Vintage Hats & Bonnets!) has seen!   If anyone out there has any information on Madame Suzy, I would LOVE to know!  PLEASE!  Meanwhile...I offer up this obviously rare black lacy bonnet with blush velvet flowers on each size at the ears.  The black "lace" is really a strange concoction of what seems like patent leather!!  There is black jet beading at the back of the bonnet along with a pear-shaped larger beads and a rhinestone and jet ornament near front.  I don't know if the ties are original, but they fit perfectly. Excellent condition.  The label looks better in person, I just had to darken to see the info in the photo  Fits a normal sized head, but no larger.  A museum piece you can own!

#6514 - c. 1945 ALBOUY, 49, Rue du Colisee, Paris Black Velvet Snood Hat!   I love this!  The 1930's and 1940's was the era of the snood ... actually the return era of the Victorian snood... which was actually the return of the Elizabethan 16th century "balzo".  Got all that?  Anyway, seems Schiaparelli first reintroduced the snood in 1935 and soon became "the" method for keeping hair free from machinery during WWII.  But the style was also used for upscale designer hats as you can see!  Gerard Albouy designed hats for his own millinery shop in Paris between 1938 - 1964,  and was most famous for decorative "baroque-style" hats. Amazingly in 1941, during the German occupation, Albouy made small, beautiful veiled hats out of recycled newspaper!!  Way cool!  This hat seems to be a classic Albouy.  Black velvet cap with original matching hatpins, small veil at front, and then the large, bold honeycomb stiff crocheted snood with thin spiderweb designs.  All ending in a black velvet bow with long tails.   Stuff you long hair in this beauty and go!  Excellent condition with just one break in the face netting (a quick needle fix for the talented).  Sits on your head like a tiara, so size isn't an issue.

#6508 - c. 1890 POUYANNE, Paris Light Aquamarine Silk Velvet Bonnet with Black Net Embroidered Blue and Gold Tinsel with Lace Scarf Ties!  I'm sure this bonnet was owned by a quite wealthy woman from the era... perhaps one of the "400"?  I have to imagine she had a matching gown ... oh, she would have been quite an extraordinary vision!  From the New York Times article of 1888 describing the Fall opening at Macy's, "Of the French Headwear, it is tribute enough to say that it comprises selections from the Paris houses of Mme. Pouyanne, Virot et Berthe...  Long trimmings, to hang from the back, still prevail.  They are mainly of ribbon... hanging long enough to admit of carrying it around the neck and tying it in front.  I figure with the mention of Pouyanne first in the list... it was "the" best of the best of Paris! This bonnet is especially pretty with the light aquamarine velvet gathered to frame the fabulous electric blue and mellow gold tinsel braid design.  The bonnet ties with long, long black chantilly lace!  Meant to sit on top of the head, so size is unimportant.  The condition is good, but not perfect.  The velvet is discolored in a few places from years of dust, and one of those places has created a very slight break in the velvet (only seen on close inspection).  Then if you really want me to get picky... some of the braiding is ever so slightly askew.  All in all a top Parisian designer hat of museum quality.

#6577 - c. 1926 VIROT, Paris Brown Silk Satin and Brown Velvet Cloche! From the prestigious Rue de la Paix comes another top of the line Parisian milliners' hat.  Virot and Pouyanne were two of the best of the Victorian / Edwardian eras. Virot was so coveted that the hats are even mentioned in Edith Warton novels!  This hat, along with many of the others you will see on this website, are from a travelling museum collection of over 200 hats!  I hate the fact that it's my job to break up the collection, but it's a chance for you to add some of these special pieces to your own hat collection!  Who knows... perhaps you will create the next travelling museum hat collection in the future!!   This is extremely simple in design, but would have been fabulous with a brown satin 20s day dress.   Nearly a pinwheel design of brown satin and brown velvet with tiny little brim.  Excellent condition exterior.  The interior silk lining is tearing, but the label inside the crown is in perfect condition. This is my favorite of the three flower Dior hats I have from this Museum collection. I'm told (though I should know these things) that Dior's signature was lily of the valley flowers, so this hat should have a special place in your own collection. #6582 - c. 1951 RARE LILLY DACHE, Paris/New York Bejeweled Calotte Cloche!  I went to see this amazing collection of over 200 hats when it was displayed at the American Textile History Museum, Lowell, MA back in Autumn, 2001. The fabulous Neil Vincent collection, who was quoted saying: "These are classic designs that represent the best historic examples of artistry and craftsmanship.  They are the purest form of fashion whose only function is to be fashionable".  The collection showcased high-style creations from 1780-1970 and showcased the legendary milliners such as Virot, Felix, Lilly Daché, Balmain and Balenciaga.  That all being said... I remember saying that this was one of my favorite hats in the exhibition!  Perhaps it's because I'm a sucker for 1920s beaded and sequin cloches (as my website groupies know!), and this was a 1950's version of that!   Burnished gold sequins and gold and green lame "braid" woven  in a deco design, studded with red, blue and green large jewels.  Just awesome.  Note: The hat looks a bit lumpy on the mannequin as she has molded hair, so it will be a bit better on you!  Will fit a normal sized 22" head.

#7145 - c. 1970's EDOUARD JERROLD, Made in Italy Platform Peeptoe Pumps! Another pair of shoes I will not be walking around in! They don't call these KILLER for nothing!  More info coming, but Edouard Jerrold are museum worthy - and are in a few fashion museums worldwide! No size... too large for my 6.5 foot, and slightly narrow, so I'm guessing about a 7.5N (though I'm told the original owner wore a 7M).  They have been worn, but still look great.  Bright shiny gold metal sheathing surrounding the platform and heel, with ivory leather upper. I know measuring shoes is crazy, but for those of you who ask: Measures: 9 1/2" long, 3" wide, 4 5/8" heel, 1" platform. Great Edouard Jerrold platforms ard to find.  This is your opportunity to own a piece of history from a designer whose work is considered artistry. Edouard Jerrold was an iconic shoe designer during the 1970's and his shoes were high fashion designs of the times.  Currently, shoes designed by Jerrold are on display in the L.A. Museum of Art, and I'm told the Costume Institute at the  Metropolitan Museum of Art.  Very Good Condition... slight pits on the metal toes, and could just use a buffing of the metal. I'm leaving as found.

#5178 - c. 1920's Large Heavily Embroidered Shawl!  You can find these shawls for twice this price in Excellent condition... but if you are willing to give up a bit in condition, you can have the same look to either wear, drape on your piano, or on your bed, or, as my mom did... hanging from an antique furniture coat rack for much less. Measures:  64" x 60" nearly square (that's 5 feet square plus the fringe!!!!) so unless you are quite tall, you will need to wear this slightly folded over - but you probably knew that already! :) As you can see, it's a lovely grayish bone colored silk base with vibrant embroidery of large red roses, and smaller flowers of various hued red, lavender, pink, coral, with blue and green leaves and vines. You will notice here and there that silk threads are pulled, and there are a few minor spots (see photos).  The right bottom (see photo) of the shawl is slightly discolored, but that can be the area you fold over.  There are NO holes or anything horrible, but it's not perfect.  The fringe is 23" long all around with 7" of that being the macrame.  You'll have to spend some time combing the fringe, but it's all there.

#6553 - c. 1942 Mme. IRENE, Ambassador Hotel, Los Angeles Sensational Straw Skimmer Hat Trimmed with Red Roses on Turban of Red Crepe!  OK... the hat is fabulous to say the least... but the label is also quite fascinating.  The Ambassador Hotel with the Cocoanut Grove nightclub inside opened in 1921 and instantly became a Mecca for the Rich & Famous of Hollywood. In the 30s and 40s the hotel was used for the Academy Awards and in 1944, the first Golden Globe awards.  Other events included Judy Garland's spectacular comeback concert after several years of illness at the Cocoanut Grove.  Despite all of its celebrated history & past glory days The Ambassador Hotel will forever be remembered  & associated with one of America's blackest days - The assassination of  Robert F Kennedy.  He had just finished delivering his victory speech for the Californian Primary, in the Hotel's Embassy Ballroom.  The hotel finally closed in 1989 and sadly, has since been demolished.  The Mme. Irene label may be that of Irene (the MGM designer), but I can't find any way to confirm that.  High style to be sure!!  I can see any Hollywood star of the era in this natural straw hat with attached semi-sheer red crepe turban.. and covered with a bouquet of red/pink 2-tone linen flowers at front.  Excellent condition.  Measures 22.5" but will fit many heads as the turban is worn wherever it fits you. Love this!!  Measures: 14.5" x 14.5"

#6560 - c. 1955 SCHIAPARELLI, Paris Black Satin Toque with Fantasy Feathers! No surprise that this was designed by Schiaparelli who is known for surreal fashions.  Actually I call this my "crab" hat... doesn't resemble that at all when on... but when just sitting on a table, it's a bit frightening... I keep expecting to get pinched in the ass!  Meant to be worn on top of head so size isn't of importance, unless you have an unusually large head.... like Oprah (really... she mentions that quite often!). Black satin turban-like designed toque hat with the extra special black "fantasy" feathers.  I only call them that because I have no clue what they really are!! :)  Excellent condition.  And, of course, don't forget the Schiaparelli label!

#6396 - c. 1948 ORIGINAL CASPAR DAVIS Absinthe-Green Straw Hat with Flowers! I have to confess that when I first saw this hat I laughed at it.  I mean it was just so comical looking.  Then I finally put it on my mannequin, and it came to life!  No longer funny, but now a fashion forward hat for a confident woman.  Someone who would have been comfortable wearing Schiaparelli and Bes Ben. Someone else had to name the color of the straw for me... it's a light yellowish green straw covered with a delicate pink speckled netting, and teeming with silk pink roses, and sweet light blue flowers.  And then comes that "funny" tall stiff satin covered standing circle.  Excellent condition. A fabulous display hat, or... if you dare to wear, please send me a photo!  :)

#6551 - c. 1938 RARE AGNES, Paris Black Velvet Tam with Red and Green Velvet Flowers!  Madame Agnes was a French milliner who designed hats from the 1920s through 1940s.  As she was a sculptress, the styles of her hats were rather abstract and unique. This particular hat was imported by Janet Meisner, New York.  An wonderful black velvet tam or beret with interesting detailing topped with a bunch of red velvet flowers (they look like poinsettias) with green velvet leaves. Simple, yet fabulous!  Unfortunately, this hat isn't in perfect condition, but it's rare to find any hat with the original Agnes, Paris label, so....   and certainly it's priced to sell!!  Look at close-up photos for condition.  There is wear to the edges and small tears to the velvet in the under portion.  The flowers all look "tired", but likely could be perked up a bit.

#6552 - c. 1942 ENGEL FETZER Black Persian Lamb Stovepipe Doll Hat!   Oh, come on... try to beat this one!  Just imagine it worn with a 40's suit trimmed with black Persian lamb. Snazzy!  Very Joan Crawford.  No, not the "Mommy Dearest" version. Rather the fashionable "working woman" image of the 1940's movies.  If you don't know what I'm talking about... go rent a few. These 40s hats were worn tilted onto the forehead with the elastic usually hidden under the hair at back. This hat has a little black netting at back as well for a bit of interest from the back.  From the front, it's just an awesome sight of a black Persian lamb round "stovepipe" with opening down the center!!  Really!!  You could send smoke through it for fun! :)  A hard to see draped ornament is on it with a few tiny beads. A great and easily wearable hat! Excellent condition. One size fits all as it just sits on the head.

#6358 - c. 1891 Fancy Straw with Beige Faille and Black Velvet Ribbons Teeming with "Snowdrops"!  Nearly a cone shaped hat!  The hats got quite tall during the 1880's, so this is at the tail end of that trend. I'm having a hard time describing the fancy "straw" design of the base of this hat.... there is curly straw, but then there is another material woven into the design that is quite stiff, and feels/looks like an early plastic!!  I can't tell you what it is.  Feels slicker than horsehair, so perhaps it's just coated with something.  I don't know.  Just fabulously interesting! All trimmed in a a light tan/beige grosgrain ribbon and sprinkled with tiny off-white silk "snowdrops" and variegated velvet leaves.  Black velvet ribbon at back and under brim.  Very good to Excellent condition... just a little "tired" looking, and the china silk lining is just starting to split. Measures: 10" x 11" oval shape.

I just have to let this hat speak for itself.  SO unique! With incredible full double ivory silk tassels hanging on one side! All straw.  Great for summer.  The crown is fabulously molded and tied with bow at front - yet it's NOT stiff.... this is like a fabric straw!!  The G. Howard Hodge label always seem to be great, unique hats. This is no exception! Near Mint condition. Great hat to illicit those coveted "Wherever did you get that!" and "Wow, what a fabulous hat!" from your friends and even from strangers! Measures: 9" x 10" oval x 6" high.  You can wear it down on your head like a cloche, or high back on the head for a sweet look.  Pretty much two completely different looks.

#7351 - c. 1940's FORSTNER 14KT GOLD Tubogas Style Necklace!  OK boys and girls, I will be the first to admit I am no jeweler. BUT this one is easy! :) Guess this was a popular necklace back in the 1940's as there are a few of them online you will see... ranging anywhere from a bit smaller version for $900 (or $550 if you want to go back to a sale in 1995 when gold was just a wee bit less expensive!! :)  and up to $2,950 for this same necklace.  The design is oh so simple... but the impact is perfect for those of you who don't want to flaunt it. This necklace is marked Forstner 14kt on the clasp (which works perfectly) and it measures 15.5" long (though has a bit of a flexible stretch to it, so can be a smidge longer!  You men out there will understand this concept!!! :).  It weights 2.6 oz. on my regular mail postage scale (so that's presumably a bit less in troy ounces - as the equation is:  one ounce = 0.911458333 troy ounce (so that's 2.3697915 troy ounces!).  Who came up with this stuff anyway!  So... as of today, this necklace is worth exactly $1,975 in gold value, so that's the price! You can pay an extra $1000 from the jeweler, or you can buy it directly here.  As the price of gold goes up, so might the price of this necklace, so....

$ 1,975.  SOLD

#7420 - c. 1910 Huge Off-White Ostrich Feather Fan with Celluloid Sticks!  Someone must be hording all these fabulously large ostrich fans because they are getting so much harder to find... and believe me, I'm always on the lookout.  Sure, I can find them half this size, or new ones (that just aren't the same!), but these "full body" antique fans are getting pretty rare.  I show the size of my fans up against my dressform so you can see how much of the body it covers.. from your shoulder to your upper thigh (unless you are an Amazon)!!  Take an exotic dance class and dance behind this fan! :)  If you want to use it, you don't have to open it all the way... and if you want to play Elise McKenna in "Somewhere In Time", remember, she had a large white feather fan! :)  OR just leave it all the way open on a fireplace mantle for a unique decoration!  Excellent condition, with just a hint of spotting at the very edges of a couple feathers (see photo)... and if you are REALLY picky, note that this fan isn't fully white.... but you will love it!!  I sold a similar fan with these same white ostrich feathers and celluloid sticks that was from TIFFANY & CO!!! These weren't cheap when new. Measures: 16" tall x 27" at widest.

#5496 - c. early 1960's BES-BEN Moonstone Hat of Blue and Green! With Bes Ben Box!  In 1920, Benjamin Greenfield and his sister Bessie (hence the "Bes-Ben" name merging their first names!) opened a millinery shop in Chicago. In 1938 they moved to the fashionable Michigan Avenue, and Benjamin soon became known as "The Mad Hatter of Chicago" with his outrageous designs. His famous clientele included Lucille Ball, Marlene Dietrich, Judy Garland and Elizabeth Taylor... with his hats selling for between $37.50 - $1000! Maine Antique Digest wrote "Every summer, however, he would clean out his inventory for the new season at a midnight sale, marking down the hats to s little as $5. Then at 2 AM, he would toss the rest out the front door to waiting bargain hunters."! Ah, to have a time machine!!!!  In 1999 a Bes-Ben hat sold for $18,400 at auction. In my opinion (yeah, who asked me!) some Bes-Ben hats aren't all that attractive, though some are certainly more whimsical than this one.  But this blue/green moonstone hat is lovely, and easily wearable (Kate!).  With the original netting.  Excellent condition and comes with a Bes-Ben box.

#5225 - c. 1940's/1950's Made to Order Hat, BERGDORF GOODMAN On the Plaza, New York Unique "Package" Magenta Satin Toque Hat with Bow!  Owned and Worn by ANITA LOOS!  Anita Loos had a collection of hats.... and I bought them all!  I just love the fact that she purchased unique shapes and styles!  Nothing basic!  And nothing inexpensive!! :)  This was specially made to order at the high-end Bergdorf Goodman store.  In the 1960's, Halston began his career designing hats for Bergdorf under this same label.  Though this was earlier.  I've also seen Balenciaga Bergdorf Made to Order hats, so who knows who actaully designed this on!  Love the shape and color or a magenta satin.  It's stiff, though has the look of being "gathered" by the bow.  Most likely created to match a particular outfit for Ms. Loos.  Excellent condition.  Oh, and if you don't know Anita Loos is, you should!   Click on the link below!       http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anita_Loos
