#5803 - c. 1970's MISSONI for Neiman Marcus, Made in Italy Mulitcolored Knit Dress with Knit Belt! For all of you who know any of the crazy women (oops....were you one??) who crashed Target's website and trampled fellow shoppers to get the "Missoni for Target" items.... well... how about an vintage Missoni for Neiman Marcus! :)  I believe it's 1970s, but not really sure. It's not new... that's for sure.   Excellent condition.  If the belt isn't original, it's wonderful with it.. either worn at the waist, or at the hips.. or not at all if you prefer a sheathe dress.  Unique color combo and design (see the close-up photos).   All knit, but should fit best for up to 40" bust, up to 36" waist, up to 40" hips, 43" long from shoulder to hem.  NEW LISTING!

#7455 - c. 1950's Stanley Korshak, Chicago Brilliant Blue "Dior" look Dress! Not only does this dress have the Dior look, but it's possible it really is.... check out this additional photos of the interior construction with full stayed corset!  Additionally, the label of Stanley Korshak is actually an extremely high-end specialty store which sold many top designer pieces... on par with Martha, Palm Beach.  In searching for info, I found this interesting quote:  "Millionaires would love to shop here if they could afford it, but this place has Stanley-Korshak-prices that will set you back with some jaw-dropping price tags."  That should give you some idea of the quality here! :)  Stanley Korshak specialized in selling one-of-a-kind and haute couture designer merchandise.  Even where Kim and Khloe (yeah, you know, the Kardashians) shop there in the "chic" Dallas Korshak store. Excellent condition with barely perceptible underam darkening which will not be seen when wearing.  Incredible wrapping, unique shaping of skirt, 3 button back above metal zipper. Measures: 35/36" bust, up to 26" waist, 45" long from shoulder to hem. Material is a mid-weight rayon (I think), though it could be silk.  NEW LISTING!

#6712- c. 1980's PAUL LOUIS ORRIER, Paris Black Net and Velvet Ballgown!  Oh my!  I have been holding on to this gown for 2 years now as I hate to sell it.  I'd love to see this on display somewhere or on the right woman at the right event rather than just hanging around with me. "She" just isn't getting the right respect.  ;)  There is little information you can find re: Paul Louis Orrier, though (per Vintage Label Resource) his designs can be found at the Mint Museum, NC and in the Texas Fashion Collection.  Very cutting edge and angular, this designer found his stardom in the 1980s dressing celebrities such as Liza Minnelli. How to describe.. well, the entire upper bodice and sleeves are sheer net studded with small beads here and there.  The bodice is then an almost organic leafy design in black velvet outlined in a nearly purple embroidery to give it definition.  The velvet continues down the skirt and again ends in sheer netting... though now a triple layer stiff netting wide skirt! There is a HUGE black velvet 3-dimentional flower at the front side with jet beading.   The underskirt is a straight sheathe, so the skirt is very airy.  Unique and beautiful!!!   Measures: 34" bust, up to 27" waist, 58" long from shoulder to hem. Excellent condition with just extreme minor pulls on sheer bodice. You can hide those with extra beads if you care.  Nice cleavage! :) Incredible ballgown!  NEW LISTING!

#5802 - c. 1980's EMANUEL UNGARO PARALLELE, Paris Neon Floral Satin Dress! I adore 1980s Ungaro dresses.  They were my "go to" dress whenever I wanted my body to look its sexy best, yet covered.  It's almost impossible to see the unique seaming and gathering to create that hourglass shape, but if you know Ungaro, you know.  This one is fantastic with electric neon colored megaflowers on black ground satin.  They will NOT miss you in the room!  The back is equal to the front in shaping.  Zippered back and zippered sleeve cuffs.  Shoulder pads, short turtleneck.   Wear with a black sweater or jacket if you prefer to break up the brightness.  Excellent condition.  Measures up to 36" bust, up to 28" waist, up to 39" hips, 36" long from shoulder to hem.  Feels SOOOO great on the skin!!!  WOW them!! #5823 - c. 1950's Black Silk Velvet Dress with Black Taffeta Double Ruffle Hem! As Audrey Hepburn as you can get from "Breakfast at Tiffany".  Just add a bow at waist, huge hat, sunglasses, gloves and kitten heel shoes.  You don't need the umbrella.  ;)   There is a taffeta bow on the taffeta double ruffle skirt bottom (hard to see).  Otherwise the dress is just a lovely hourglass shape with scoop neckline.  Metal zipper back. Measures:  36" bust, up to 28" waist, up to 37" hips, 38" long from shoulder to hem.  This is labeled a size 12.  Ha! Those are the measurements of what size 12 used to be.  So when they say "Marilyn Monroe was a size 12"... that means she was a size 4/6ish today.  Excellent condition. NEW LISTING!

#5804 - c. 1979 COURREGES, Paris, Made in France Blue Heavy Wool Suit! I know suits aren't as "in vogue" as they used to be, but nobody says you HAVE to wear these pieces together!  And yet, when suits come back in... you will have the option. Gotta love Courreges.  Designs are SO simple, yet fantastically tailored and made.  Extremely heavyweight wool practically stand up on their own!!!!  :)  Check out the sweet detail of the gathering on the shoulders, the seamed "piping" of the upper back, side seams, and around edges.  And the placement of the decorative pockets on the front of the jacket.  The photos will tell you all.  Excellent condition. #5820 - c. 1980's CARLYE Black Crepe Dress with Lovely Lace Bodice with Dangles and Satin Waistband!  Please don't fall in love with this dress unless you are tiny.  I know it's painful to realize it won't fit you if you love it.  And I mean PAINFUL!  You Vintageites will know exactly what I'm sayin'!  This dress measures 33" bust, 24" waist, up to 34" hips.   Back zipper, and look closely to see the nude fabric under the lace for strength, so the lace won't have the stress.  Nice touch!  Love the little dangly things above the wide satin waistband.  Excellent condition though you will want to take to the dry cleaner for some light spots on the rump.  I know they will come out as they got lighter just by rubbing them, but I don't want to rub too hard, so just get cleaned for $15.   You can wear as is, as you will likely be wearing in the evening anyway for now.  So all you tiny gals... it's priced to sell for you!! #5801 - c. 1980's HOLLY HARP Floral Chiffon Dress!  I didn't even know Holly Harp until about 5 years ago when someone proudly said, "I have a vintage Holly Harp dress!", and I thought to myself "yeah, so?".   Not a clue.  It amazes me sometimes just how much I don't know that I don't know. So for those of you who want to learn along with me:  Holly Harp began her fashion career in the late 1960s, designing theatrical, psychedelic clothing for iconic performers such as Janis Joplin and Grace Slick of Jefferson Airplane. In 1968, Harp opened Holly's Harp, a small boutique on the Sunset Strip where she sold both her ready-made and custom-designed garments. Harp became known for making fabulous dresses that attracted the attention of the Hollywood élite. Her customer list reads like a Who's Who: Liza Minnelli, Jane Seymour, Lauren Hutton, Bette Midler, Diana Ross, Jane Pauley, and Sally Field were just a few.  Some Harp originals have appeared in Hollywood films as well. The ability to create clothing with both romantic and classic qualities carried Harp through the 1980s into the 1990s; by limiting her production, Harp maintained the integrity of her designs. Holly Harp died of cancer in April of 1995. She was 55.  This dress is a multi-layered floral chiffon with unique billowing sleeves open at the bottom! This must look lovely in movement. Measures: up to 38" bust, up to 34" waist, up to 40" hips, 40" long from shoulder to hem.  Side zipper. Excellent condition.   NEW LISTING!

#5758 - c. 1970's FIANDACA Couture Black and Hot Pink Chiffon Gown!  You don't know Fiandaca?  I do, because I lived in Boston for so long, but for the rest of you, here's the info from the Vintage Label Resource:  "Political wife dressing became a Fiandaca specialty. He designed for more presidential First Ladies and would-be First Ladies than any other designer, including Lady Bird Johnson, Nancy Reagan, Joan Kennedy, Kitty Dukakis, and Muriel Humphrey.  In the 1970s, Fiandaca dressed Louise Fletcher when she won the Academy Award for Best Actress in One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest. He had a long list of celebrity clients, including Raquel Welch, Audrey Hepburn, Connie Francis, Lauren Bacall,  Julie Andrews, Dionne Warwick, Joan Rivers, Cher, and Oprah.  His clients also include many in the social elite.  In 1985 Fiandaca designed a dress for Joan Collins to wear on the television show Dynasty. The $3,200 outfit, the most expensive EVER commissioned for TV at that time. It appeared for just 3 ˝ minutes!  So you are in obviously good company if you wear a Fiandaca gown!  This came to me from the estate of a former high-fashion runway model.  Black sheer striped gown with hot pink design pint.  All this over a sleek black silk jersey gown. Side zipper to waist, open sleeve, oh-so-sexy low "v" back, elastic waist so nearly impossible to measure.  58" long from shoulder to hem.  Excellent condition.  Shown on a size 6 mannequin.  NEW LISTING!

I'm sure this would look better on a woman with arms (damn mannequin) and I'm not sure how best to wear it, but I have to assume that YOU are the fashionista... not me... I'm just a webmaster. :)   Measures: 40" long and 17" around.  Excellent condition. You KNOW you'll never find one again... and a heck of a lot more classic than some silly new feather boa that look more like those worn by strippers.  This feather boa is for a gala!   NEW LISTING!

#7456 - c. 1930's Paper Thin Textured Rayon Gown with Matching Long Jacket and Original Tie Belt!  Fantastic set! If only I looked good in gold.  I love the color and tend to buy gold pieces and then when I try to wear them, I realize just how bad I look.  I really have to stick to black/white/red and jeweltone colors and that's that.  So, I can't keep this for myself.  The material is very thin and slightly stuff.  I really haven't had many other pieces with this material and 1930s textured rayon was quite fashion forward in the 30s.   The silhouette is what you'd expect to see in the movies of the era... very Jean Harlow and Carole Lombard.  The jacket stays open at the bust to show it off and closes at the collar and waist.  The matching belt looks like it was never completed or something as it's too long and should have a 30s rhinestone or ornamental buckle.  So it's just safety pinned for the photos.  So.... buy the outfit and go on a hunt for the perfect buckle.. or you might already have one waiting for the perfect gown!!! :)  Excellent condition with the only issue I see is one small area on the hem with a water spot (see photo).  Hard to measure, but I'd say  up to 34/35" bust, up to 29" waist, up to 39" hips, 35" long jacket from shoulder to hem, 60" long gown. #5963 - c. 1950's EMMA DOMB, California Blue Taffeta Gown with Sequin Design!  This gown might look a bit lighter in person, but I wanted you to see the detail.  I think I saw a Ceil Chapman that looked almost exactly like this, so Emma Domb was probably going for a "knock off" as they were lower priced gowns when new. Measures:  up to 36" bust, up to 28" waist, 56" long from shoulder to hem. There is a net crinoline under to give it a bit of shape though you might want more petticoats under. Your choice.  Back zipper.  Little bow at waist (see close-up photos), cap sleeves, "u" neckline.  Now look at the last photo and you will see there are minor spots on the bodice, so that keeps the price quite low!!!  Love the fact that his is labeled size 12... yeah right.... not in today's world!!! :)  NEW LISTING!

#7461 - c. 1980's JACQUELiNE de RIBS, Paris, New York Black Velvet Dress with Satin Trim!  I keep thinking how much Barbra Streisand would like this dress! She used to wear that "sailor" collar and bow ties all the time!!  In July 2011, Vanity Fair Magazine voted Jacqueline de Ribes as one of the "International Best-Dressed Hall of Fame" recipients. She married to become a Countess and was well known as a style maker long before she became a designer. In 1983, the year she started her design firm, Town and Country magazine named her the “Most Stylish Woman in the World.”  Her line was luxurious, expensive and was well received, especially in the USA.  OK.. first thing you need to know about this dress is that the zipper is hidden IN THE FRONT! Great dress to wear if you need a quick change! :)  Black velvet with black satin trim.  The dress has shoulder pads, and additional shoulder pads between the double collar to make sure it stands out as you see.  Excellent condition.  Measures: up to 36" bust, up to 31" waist, up to 39" hips. I sold another Jaqueline de Ribes dress that I found the original ad for the dress at $7,000 when new in the 1980s!!!   So just to give you a clue as the value of this label!  NEW LISTING!

#5965 - c. 1970's House of Bianchi Navy Poly "Bridesmaid" Dress!  Yes, this was a bridesmaid dress.  I only know that because this is a bridal label.  And it would have looked so nice coming down the aisle with white flower bouquet to match the white flowers on the sleeves!! Simple shape with very fitted bodice to dropped waist (very hourglass) and then gathered at the upper hipline.  The yoke is a white netting.  I can just see this as it was likely worn with a simple pearl necklace.  The original bridesmaid was quite small ... with NO bust, as this is WAY padded inside (see photos), but certainly the padding can be removed if you want. Measures:  31/32" bust, up to 25/26" waist, 53" long from shoulder to hem. Excellent condition. You might want to attach the flowers a bit tighter, but I'm leaving as is if you want to remove them for any reason.  NEW LISTING!

#5931 - c. 1980's YVES SAINT LAURENT Rive Gauche, Paris, Made in France Highly Jeweled Black Velvet Suit with Wine Velvet Trim!  I've seen many a jeweled YSL suit, but NEVER have I seen one before with such enormous and highly colored jewels... and so many of them!  These snake around black rope trim and small black beads. Even the buttons are special rhinestone encrusted balls. The suit is a cotton/rayon black velvet trimmed in deep wine velvet to highlight the jewels. The extra button is still inside the jacket and there is an extra jewel as well, so this suit, if it was worn at all, was only gently worn!  Near MINT condition (I only say "near mint" as I never say "mint"). The boxy jacket has an ever-so-slight blouson effect at the back (see the lightened photo to see).   Labeled size "40".  Measures:  up to 40" bust, up to 27" waist, up to 38" hips, 27" long skirt from waist to hem.  Quite tight around the hemline so expect to have a Marilyn Monroe wiggle walk!  You won't easily get on a bus with a high first step.. but you will look so wealthy in this suit, the limo driver will assume you are the woman he's supposed to pick up! :)  As I usually do, I tell you that you are buying the JACKET... and I'm throwing in the matching skirt... as suits don't sell as well as fantastic jackets.  I know... it's just a ploy... but at least I tell it like it is! :)  Don't hesitate on this piece!  You'll be mesmerized by the sparkle!   NEW LISTING!

#5962 - c. 1960's Off-white Linen Gown with Black Velvet Scrollwork!  Nope, it's not one of my usual high-end designer pieces, but you'd never know from the look!!  This would be similar quality to a "Lilli Diamond", if you know vintage, you will know what that means.  So I have some good news... this gown hides wide hips beautifully, just the way it's gathered!  And being one of those wide-hipped ladies, I can appreciate this little fact!!  For the other news... I don't know if you care, but I like to tell all.... the bust is slightly pointy (not torpedo tits, just as you will see in the photos).  Might just take a bit of 1960's stuffing in your bra.  :)  Measures: 34" bust (tight 35" bust), up to 27" waist (slightly highwaisted), up to 43" hips, 56" long from shoulder to hem. Back metal zipper.   Surprisingly Excellent condition as whites are hard to find without issues.... but I can't find anything wrong.  Whoopie! NEW LISTING!

SO... for me NOT to put this up for you would have been SO WRONG of me!! :)   So, here it is.  Soft silk floppy velvet capelet of various tiers in unique configuration in the front, and pretty standard in the back.  As you can see from the lightened photos of the back, the layers will ripple around in a strong wind.   Closes at the front with one self covered velvet button.  Excellent condition with just one tiny tear inside the lining (see photo).  NEW LISTING!

Randall Brooks pieces were quite expensive and beautifully made of top quality!  I read that Brooks was an assistant to one of Marilyn Monroe's favorite designers, Jean Louis, and has costumed at least one movie credited to him.  As you can see from the photos, this is is an awesome dress with bolero jacket (for those of us of a certain age who either freeze or need a jacket to remove for those pain in the ass hot flashes!) With or without the jacket, it's lovely.  Hot pink crepe skirt and sleeves with wide sections of matching channel stitched satin.  Spaghetti straps on the dress.  Tuxedo-like satin strip down the sides of the skirt.  LOVE LOVE LOVE the fantastic barrel shaped sleeves!!!  Measures: 35" bust, up to 28" waist, up to 41" hips, 46" long from shoulder to hem.  Excellent condition.  Great price for this QUALITY piece!!!   NEW LISTING!

#7462 - c. 2000's PRONOVIAS White  "Fluffy" Dress with Rhinestone Waistband!  Pronovias is a wedding gown design label... with the wedding gowns selling in the thousands.  I didn't know anything about Pronovias when I saw this dress... I just fell in love with it.  SO unique! It's like hundreds of small pieces of fabric and tulle just tacked down to create extreme 3-D "feathers"... though they aren't feathers.  I grabbed it before I knew how small it was.  So, it's not going to fit most of you (and me) unless you just love it as much as I, and then open the back up totally and add material somehow blending in as it was meant to be there... like a short flat train of satin or something at back.  I don't know... I have loads of ideas, I just can't sew. :(  I know I have to get the measurements for you, but meanwhile.. unless you are ballerina thin.... you will need to revamp the dress to fit you. But my GOD, it's GORGEOUS!!!!! Zips up the back but covered with tiny buttons to hide the zipper. And what bust pads!!  Sadly being the 32DDD bra cup that I am (crazy cup letters these days!  I used to wear a C cup!), I find them quite funny! :)  NEW LISTING!   Also Listed in the Wedding Category.

#5967 - c. 1930's Coral Rayon Taffeta Gown!  If I go searching through my piles of old photos, I swear I have a photo of my mother wearing a similar dress back in 1930s.   This would have been a gown for a young sweet and innocent young woman (so they exist anymore??).  Coral rayon taffeta gown with side metal zipper, puffed gathered sleeves, 9 tiered skirt, ruched bodice and that lovely velvet floral and ribbon decoration at the bust with streamers down the front.  Measures:  34" bust, up to 28" waist, 55" long from shoulder to hem.   Excellent condition with just a bit of dirt at the hemline and a bit above.  But no one is gonna be focused on your hemline!  The only issue (and I could have removed it, but best to sell as I find items to keep the history alive) is that one side of the ties is missing... this would have tied in a bow at the back.  Totally overkill these days, so you might have wanted to remove it anyway, but as it is.. you'll have to remove the one side of the tie belt that is still there and then sew back up the side seam.  Should take about, um, 2 minutes. Just what you want from Gilbert Adrian! Unique design, eye-catching, dramatic, and with tassels! :)  This suit came from a collection of Adrian, Lilli Ann and Irene pieces, but sadly many of the Lilli Ann suits were attacked by a few moths.  However, the moths must have read the label on this suit which reads:  "This article BERLOU moth proofed - 5 year guarantee" !!  This moth proofing lasted a heck of a lot longer than 5 years!!!  Fantastic condition with just a bit of discoloration of the lining!  What else can I say except I love it.  Closes up the front with hooks/eyes so wears more like a dress than a suit... no blouse needed.  Measures: 36/37" bust, 28" waist skirt, 29" long skirt from waist to hem with 2.5" hem. Heavy metal zipper at skirt side.  Skirt is unlined (as it was originally). If you don't know Gilbert Adrian, just Google search him and you will get the lowdown.  TOP American Hollywood Designer!  NEW LISTING!   Also Listed in the Museum Section.

#7434 - c. 1940's/early 1950's GILBERT ADRIAN ORIGINAL Raspberry Red Toile Print Dress!  I could use another few weeks to research this Gilbert Adrian Original dress, but I wanted to get it up on the website in the meantime.  There must be a record somewhere of what year Adrian used the unique toile print! The only information I quickly found was that Adrian did very small collections of "animal" and "American" theme prints.  And when I say small...I mean small!  Seems there were only 10 dresses made of a particular henhouse print dress.  So...  this dress is likely quite rare!!   Check out the close-up photos to see the detail of the print and the details of the ornamental self-covered buttons on the short sleeves, and the unique open front that looks like it would button up, but it's meant to be worn open as you see.  The collar lapels are quite large.  There are belt loops at the sides, so there would have been a belt, but none exist, so I just grabbed one so you might see what it might look like with a belt.  It doesn't come with it, and clearly Adrian would have had a nicer one! :)   Someday you will find the belt to match "your" dress, and you will be SOOO happy!!! :)  Measures: up to 37" bust, up to 28" waist, up to 37" hips, 43" long from shoulder to hem (with 3" extra hem). Side metal zipper.  This dress is in great condition with the exception of a few minor light spots here and there (only one spot is even worth mentioning - see photos).  It also may have been hemmed up at some point.  But what a great find!! :)   NEW LISTING!

#7434 - c. early 1980's HANAE MORI Boutique Silk Chiffon Print Dress! The last time I was asked if I had a silk Hanae Mori dress, it was a museum asking!  Sadly at that time I didn't have one of these dresses, but hey...now I've got one! :)   Surprisingly, the exact same dress is up on another website for $650.  And that dress doesn't have the original sash.  The details of the dress include open flutter sleeves, "v" wrap neckline, lightly padded shoulders with gathering, elastic waist, hot pink satin edging and tie sash belt, lined in raspberry crepe, Floral silk chiffon colors are raspberry, light pinks, light blues, aquas, lavendars in a cherry blossom tree motif... with small birds hidden in the print!!  Condition is excellent with minor tiny spots... the only one that is worth mentioning is the one I photographed at the lower mid skirt.  The other is a teeny pinhole at the front just below the elastic waist.  Anything else you will have to search for hours (OK, perhaps I exaggerate) to find. Measures:  48" long from shoulder to hem.  Labeled an old size 14.  The dress may not be quite as bright as the photos show... but the colors seem to pop under the bright studio lights!  NEW LISTING!

#7428 - c. late 1960s/early 1970s Black Cotton Velveteen "Juliette" Lovebirds Gown!   Sometimes I don't know what it is about a gown that just makes me think of a person, or a character... but hey... if nothing else, some psychoanalyst out there will have a great time trying to figure me out! :)  So, this gown makes me think of Romeo and Juliette.  And perhaps I'm not far off, because thanks to the 1968 movie release of "Romeo and Juliette", the look was all the rage!   Anyway, I would have loved this (and still do) and would have begged my Mother to buy it for me!! Black cotton velveteen gown with elastic smocked bodice and elastic at the puffy sleeves.  The huge design of lovebirds is on the front, and the same on the back.  Love the low square neckline.  Excellent condition. Very romantic.  Measures:  56" long from shoulder to hem.  Hard to measure the rest as the bodice is totally smocked, so will fit a variety of sizes.... perhaps up to a 37/38" bust, but looks equally great on this mannequin at 35" but, and can go smaller.   Best for a size Small - Medium.  NEW LISTING!

#5945 - c. 1930's BLACKSHIRE Paris, New York Wine Colored Cut Velvet on Chiffon Dress with Brown Mink Cuffs and Rhinestone Ornaments!  I call this my "Bette Davis" dress.  Not sure why it reminds me of her, but it does, so I'm just stickin' to it! :)  Also, I added this dress to the 1920s category even though it's 1930s because I don't think anyone should miss seeing this dress.  I'm sure there's a name for this fabric other than "cut velvet on chiffon", but that's what it looks like.  It's sheer with a deco design all over the dress.  The shape is incredibly unique!  This is one of those pieces for a current designer to purchase to figure out just how it was cut and seamed!  Even the sleeves are unique shape!  As you can see, there is an underslip attached so you show off a little skin even under the dress.  The rhinestone circle ornaments are attached and original in both the front and the back belt.  Excellent condition.  Now, perhaps we should discuss the color.... I can't decide what to call it... wine, maroon, cranberry, ruby.... WHAT-EVER!  Please don't ask me more!!  It looks different in every light, and every computer screen... so if you are trying to match some shoes, I can't help you.  If you just want to great dress, this is it! :)   Measures: up to 40" bust, up to 31" waist, up to 40" hips, 58" long from shoulder to hem.  NEW LISTING!   Also Listed in the 1850-1920s Section.

#7338 - c. 1960's MODERN COUTURE ORIGINAL Gold Metallic Brocade Paper Thin Gown!  Damn, another fabric I don't know the name of.  I really need a better education. But this is glorious... paper thin and very gold!  Love the empire waist with the large bow attached at the front.  Low scoop neckline, long sleeves and full skirt.  Very Jackie Kennedy in shape, if not in material.  A bit flashy for the wife of the Leader of the Free World.  But certainly not too flashy for me... or you!  Measures: up to 36" bust, up to 28" slightly empire waist, 54-55" long from shoulder to hem (with 4" hem).  Back plastic zipper.  Excellent condition.  If I can stuff my bra enough, perhaps I'll wear it for my Xmas party if you don't get it first.  NEW LISTING!

#7434 - c. 1950's/1960's Black Velvet Bodice Dress with Ivory Satin Skirt and Black Lace Overskirt!!  No labels on this dress, but this is not a homemade dress... it's rather a custom made dress by a dressmaker. I know you can't see it in the photos, but there is a sweet little black velvet bow at the front waist on the thin black velvet waistband attached.  The only element that makes it look anything other than store bought is a rolled netting at the inner waistline or the attached crinoline.  It's possible the crinoline was added later. Whatever... really doesn't have any affect on the exterior which is fantastic! Excellent condition. This is one of those "Wow, where did you find that dress" dress. Measures:  35" bust, up to 28" waist, 40" long from shoulder to hem. Side nylon zipper (so it may have replaced an older zipper).  NEW LISTING!

#7451 - c. 1960-1965 ESTHER DOROTHY Two-Tone Taupe and White Ribbed Mink Coat!  I don't usually go crazy over mink coats... I mean they have to be museum quality for me to get weak in the knees... and so when I see that prestigious The Metropolitan Museum of Art Costume Institute in New York City (that's "The Met" for those of you in the know), have a very similar coat in their collection, well.... now I know WHY I fell in love with it! :)  Yup... I have good taste! :)  And those of you who frequent my website all have excellent taste as well! :)    Comes with the original long matching mink belt to tie or even bow at front!  I purchased this coat and was told it was THE coat was sold at Christie's Auction in June 21, 1994 (sale #6519) which was from the Wardrobe of Mrs. Claudia Heard De Osborne )a close friend of Balenciaga and a wealthy sociality. I can't confirm that because the photo no longer exists on the Christie's website. But obviously it was owned by a wealthy woman, as the workmanship would have been quite expensive.  I'm told by my furrier that these are thin mink pelts all sewn into the strips that you see!  Not just dyed two-tone. I can't date the coat specifically, but has the "Jackie Kennedy" early 1960s collar, so I gonna go with early 1960s.  The sleeves are 7/8 length, so they show off your fancy bracelets (why it's called bracelet length) !!   Excellent condition.  The Esther Dorothy label reads:  "Furs for the Woman by a Woman, New York."  Measure:  37" long from shoulder to hem. Will fit a x-small to small girl best.  NEW LISTING!   Also Listed in the Furs, etc. Section.

#5968 - c. 1930's The Liberty Shop, New Orleans, LA Magnificent Satin Rhinestone and Beaded Trained Gown with Original Matching Belt!  I nearly fell off my chair when photos of this gown were send to me!!!  It was SO spectacular that I was afraid that when it arrived in the mail that it wasn't going to be an actual 1930s gown.... but I'm happy to report... it is!!!!  As fantastic as any gown you would have seen on the silver screen movie stars of the era.  There is limited information I've found on The Liberty Shop, 2220 St. Charles Avenue, New Orleans, but check out all the info I found in the Museum Section listing of this same gown.  Can't get much more WOW than this!!!!  There are minor spots mostly at the hemline, and a few minor ones here and there, but in the evening light you should be wearing this gown, they will hardly be an issue.  Measures up to a 29" waist (tight, but can squeeze into that) though the inner waistband is 26" (you don't need to use that), up to 37" hips. Bust is hard to measure as the back is open... but you can see it fits 35" bust mannequin... perhaps a bit larger as well.  Yes, the price is high... because I don't think in my life I will ever find another 1930s gown this special.... and being an import shop, who knows... could be from one of the top Parisian designers of the time!!!  We'll never know. :(  NEW LISTING! Also Listed in the Museum and Wedding Categories.

Labeled size 42.  However, it measures:  30" waist, 26" long from waist to hem.   Excellent condition. NEW LISTING!

#9346 - c. 1980's RARE MICHAELE VOLLBRACH Gold Lame and Soft Green Wool Felt Kimono Shaped Evening Coat Trimmed in Peacock Feathers! Former Coty Fashion Design Winner! Attention all wall flowers!!!! You do NOT want this coat! However, if you have always craved attention, and you have a flamboyant style.. or if you are a couture collector... well then... you have just found the holy grail! :) Amazing piece.. part fashion, part sculpture.. by the incomparable Michaele Vollbrach (or Michael Vollbracht for all those who spell it this way)! Just so you know... a quilted kimono jacket sold for $2900+ at Doyle's Auction House, so the prices for these extraordinary pieces are high.. for good reason! No museum textile collection should be without Vollbrach! FYI, "Michael" Vollbrach was recently wooed out of retirement to head the house of Bill Blass, but he's had to tame his wild streak, so it's not the same. Originally purchased in mid-1980's for $2,000. Purchased from Charlotte's in Akron, OH during a trunk show when Michaele Vollbrach was there! So no question this is a limited production couture, or one-of-a-kind piece. Unlined felt (see inside photo). Not for warmth! :) The peacock feathers are beautifully iridescent! The gold lame is shiny! Measures: 46" long from shoulder to hem. No closures, so will fit a variety of sizes.. just not small/short please! This will overwhelm you! Excellent, near mint condition. Also Listed in the Museum Category.

Museum Deaccession!  A Hattie Carnegie Original, mind you!  I'm gonna suggest you go look at the photos first so you can see the wild pink, red and white silk blouse of wacky ducks under the jacket which matches the lining of the jacket!  QUACK!!! I just love when items stay together for 60+ years!  The blouse has ties that can be worn as you see, or in a bow, or tucked inside (I show all 3 ways.  The jacket has slightly stiffened bust and hips to keep shape (!), cuffed 3/4 length jacket sleeves, long straight skirt, peplum jacket, fantastic and unique collar notching (see photo), interesting seaming design under the collar (see photos), and great shaping in the jacket (see photos of seaming).   Skirt has side metal zipper.  The suit is Excellent condition.  The blouse has some minor underarm staining, obviously not seen unless you take the jacket off, and even then, it's minor (see photos).  Measures: up to 36" bust, up to 26/27" waist (the blouse waist seems smaller, so you might need to move a button, and/or there is extra material to increase waist), up to 38" hips, 36" long skirt from waist to hem.  Possibly best for a shorter gal (great on me at 5'2") as it seems a bit short shoulder to waist.  NEW LISTING!

#7430 - c. late 1930's/early 1940's  I. MAGNIN & CO., Importers Silky Rayon Jersey (?) Day Dress!  You know I don't usually sell day dresses.  I prefer fancy.  But every once in a while I'm smitten.  Sometimes so much so that I am willing to overlook an issue (which I normally don't).  I didn't notice this until I photographed, but as you will see at the back side, there is a faded  vertical "stripe" in the skirt. :(    The front is perfect. So just stand with your back against the wall. :)  This dress is a silky rayon (I think) jersey, or a silk jersey, or something like that.... it's silky!  Slightly padded shoulders, the tie at "v" neck is attached, so I just tied in a bow, tiny pleats at the top of the skirt portion, side metal zipper, slightly dropped waist. Measures: up to 35" bust, up to 27/28" waist, up to 35" hips, 46" long from shoulder to hem.  I. Magnin importers... so it was imported... likely from France.   Very Coco Chanel.  Through from what I'm reading, Elsa Schiaparelli used a slippery satin rayon jersey called "Jersela", so who knows who might have been the designer of this dress.   NEW LISTING!

#7395 - c. late 1980's LEI di LANCETTI Black Silk Taffeta with Black Velvet Trim! OK... Thanks to my favorite fashionista, I've been told that "Lei de Lancetti is the ready-to-wear line from Pino Lancetti who was one of the greatest Italian fashion designers. Not well known outside of Italy/Europe, but within, he was considered to be one of Italy's great greats!  One of his most important clients was Queen Noor of Jordan. The Lei di Lancetti line was launched in late 80's/early 90's. His haute couture pieces were 'to die for'."  So... I guess I have a pretty damn good eye to pick up this dress not knowing the designer! :) I bought it because I adore 80's Valentino and YSL and this just has that look to me. I added the belt sash (but doesn't come with it - it's just a black ribbon).  As "poufy" a dress as you'll find!  Probably best for a tall gal to carry the width and horizontal lines.  But damn she's gonna look fantastic!!   Excellent condition.  No closures other than the fancy buttons up the back of the neck. Will fit just about any size.  A beautiful piece.  NEW LISTING!

#7301 - c. early 1980's JERAN DESIGN Deep Blue Beaded Gown! NEVER WORN!  You may not know the Jeran name, but long the Hollywood stars of the 1980's and 1990's certainly did!  Jeran Design was established in 1980 by Jerry Skeels and Randy McLaughlin.  Get it?  During the 80's, they developed an impressive following by designing hand-beaded gowns for stars and legends such as Joan Collins, Connie Sellecca, Cheryl Ladd, Heather Locklear, and Vanna White. They also designed for motion pictures, stage and TV.  Since Skeels passed away in 2007, McLaughlin devoted his time to the "Graffiti Gown", donating 100% of its proceeds to benefit AIDS causes. The Graffiti Gown has rhinestone signatures of over 340 Hollywood personalities including Katharine Hepburn, Barbra Streisand, Sharon Stone, Bette Davis, Rita Hayworth, Carol Channing, Elizabeth Taylor, Halle Berry, Lana Turner, Angela Lansbury, Shirley Jones, Angela Bassett, Jane Fonda, Whoopi Goldberg, Sophia Loren, and even Mother Teresa!  This all-over beaded sheathe gown is one of a few Jeran gowns I will have for sale.  This gown was never worn and still has the original price tag of $2,995 (and this was the 1980s price, so that's $7,800 today!!).  Blue auroraborealis and clear bugle beads in fantastic design all over net base.  Silver bugle bead straps.  Excellent condition... you just might want to reinforce the straps as the gown is quite heavy!! Labeled size 10, but that's old sizing. Measures: 36" bust, up to 30" waist, up to 39" hips, 60" long from shoulder to hem. When Bob Mackie gowns were fetching over $5,000 in the 1980's, yet made outside the USA, Jeran gowns were a bit more affordable... and more importantly... MADE IN THE USA!!!  NEW LISTING!

#7208 - c. early 1970's Black Poly Dress Trimmed in Sparkling Rhinestones with HOT PANTS UNDERLARGER SIZE! I had to highlight the fact that this is not a dress, but a tunic with a pair of matching HOT PANTS under!!  I hate to admit it, but I wore hot pants to high school.  Yup, I had one pair.  They were lace up front and I wore them with the tightest knit blouse.   WHAT was I THINKING????  I only wish I had this outfit instead.   Much classier... as the hot pants only peek out when you walk.  And the rhinestone trim is frankly quite elegant... especially with that rhinestone "bow" at front.  Zipper up the back, and the pants have an elastic waist.  Near mint condition.  Measures:  up to 40" bust, up to 34" waist, up to 42" hips, 38" long from shoulder to hem.   This measures quite large, but will look good on a smaller gal as well.  NEW LISTING!

Why?  Because you are going to feign a chill in order to keep this coat on a long as possible!  It's THAT fabulous!  Whatever you wear under couldn't possibly be as eye-catching.  A long black coat completely covered in black sequins.  Wrap style with great high notched collar neckline, side pockets and original matching sequin tie belt.  Measures: up to 42" bust, up to 38" waist, up to 44" hips, but REMEMBER, this is a wrap coat, so these measurements mean little... it's the 15" across the back that is more important, 17" across the shoulders and 56" long from shoulder to hem.  The lining is a silky satin... feels good on your skin!  Excellent condition. If you'd rather... shorten this to a day length... or a 3/4 length (and make a skirt from the left over! :)  This is one of those pieces you are just gonna stand in front of your mirror and admire yourself! :)  NOTE: this is not a lightweight coat you'd find today... it's substantial! #5906 - c. 1960's GENE SHELLEY'S BOUTIQUE INTERNATIONALE, Made in Hong Kong Green Auroraborealis Sequin Wool Knit Gown!  Owned by Opera Soprano, Marta Horvath!   Incredibly (and notice I didn't use that tiresome word "amazing"... please, I beg all of you... stop the madness.  You can't get through 10 minutes without hearing that word!! :(  OK.. I'm done with my tirade.  Now, if you are a fan of my website, you may remember that the last gown I had like this, I actually decided to keep (which I NEVER do!) and wore it to my husband's company Xmas party, and I was bombarded with woman I didn't know coming over telling me how fabulous my dress was!  You can have the same experience. This is a green wool knit gown covered completely with auroraborealis blue/green sequins, with larger gold rhinestones, and white "pearl" and drop beads in a modified daisy design!  In near mint condition!  These were never lined, so the interior is ugly, but if it was lined, it would likely be too hot.  As it is, it's surprisingly not too hot (even for a menopausal woman!), and SO comfortable to wear... like a long sweater!!   This gown was a great low "v" back and boatneck front.  Worn by Hungarian Opera Singer, Marta Horvath.  There is a photo of her wearing this actual gown!  Note the details: Split up the middle front, the deep "V"  back, the flower bead pattern with bead dangles scattered all over the dress to move when you walk. Will fit a variety of sizes as it stretches. Looks great on the size 6 mannequin of 35/25/36, and yet will stretch to 39" bust, 32" waist, 42" hips, 57" long from shoulder to hem. #5348 - c. 1970's YVES SATIN LAURENT Rive Gauche, Made in France Pink Sheer Peasant Blouse with Red Taffeta Skirt! No wonder YSL is listed as one of the top 10 designers of all time. My favorite looks were his "Russian" Collection in 1976, but his peasant look is a close second.  NOTE:  A new YSL peasant blouse will set you back $1400, so best to go vintage! :)  Also note:  Sadly the label is only in the blouse, but there was another YSL long skirt (a crushed velvet red) from this same estate the DOES have the YSL Rive Gauche label, but I'm pretty sure this was her outfit, and not that other skirt (at least if I had been her fashion coordinator!).  The skirt is red taffeta trimmed in black taffeta with original matching sash at waist.  Note the skirt is actually two full layers.... the underskirt is black with the red ribbon hemline, the overskirt is red with black ribbon hemline which is slightly shorter to show the underlayer (hard to see in the photos).  Measures:  26" waist, 41" long.  The sheer gauze pink peasant blouse is lovely with the tie at front and puffy sleeves with elastic at ruffle cuffs. Blouse labeled "36"... and impossible to measure.  Wear together or separately.  Excellent condition skirt.  Blouse has some spots, and one pull (see photos), so she'll be going to the cleaners and get a good spanking!  :)

Also check out the blue sapphire rhinestone buttons on the coat.  Those are worth quite a bit on their own. Love the neckline of the gown.. low, square. Very "Regency / Jane Austen" Era look.  Excellent condition for both pieces unless you care about the coat lining which for some reason is all red spotted.  Also, gotta mention that the coat has a inner lining of wool batting for some warmth. Interesting!  Guess this was meant for a chilly Spring event! Measures: 35/36" bust,  up to 30" waist, up to 38" hips (max), 56" long from shoulder to hem in front, 60" long in back of coat.  Oh, and if you don't need a GOWN, shorten both to dress and coat!  Would still be fab!

#7333 - c. 1960's ANNE FOGARTY Light Blue and Silver Metallic Geometric Sheathe Dress with Matching Coat!  From the estate of the woman who had 10+ furs in her closet! This was the outfit that her son remembered fondly and was excited to see it go to the next woman to enjoy it.... you know... that way Mom lives on!  I know the feeling, as I did the same with my Mother's clothes.  Just prior to starting her own label in 1962, Anne Fogarty became the in-house designer for Saks Fifth Avenue in 1957.  Pretty prestigious!  And this is my favorite tidbit:  In 1959 she wrote a book, "Wife Dressing", in which she gave advice on how to dress to please a man!!  Love to read that today! :)  Anyway, this outfit would have been one of Ms. Fogarty's earliest under her own label. Light blue and silver metallic sheathe dress with matching coat all in a geometric design.  Three large rhinestone buttons.  This outfit needs little else.  The dress has a very high necklace neckline for your pearls or diamond necklace.  Wear together or separately.. the dress with a little cardigan sweater.  The coat open over skinny jeans.  Get creative! Dress Measures:  up to 36" bust, up to 32" waist, up to 42" hips, 37" long from shoulder to hem. Fully lined.   Excellent condition except for the two spots I found.  One sadly right at the front of the coat between the buttons (see photos - hope a spot remover will work wonders!) and the other hidden in the print.

#9329 - c. 1960's MIGNON, Made in British Crown Colony of Hong Kong Ivory 3-D Beaded DRESS! UNFINISHED REDESIGN! I love good beading... especially beaded onto a printed silk material with tiny metallic flecks.  Another British Crown Colony of Hong Kong gown, but this also has the MIGNON quality label.  OK... now to the details.... first look at the photos so you can see the fantastic beading.  OK? Done?  Now imagine this dress shorter... perhaps a tea length, or fashionable just below the knee length, or for you petite gals like me... just above the knee. WHY?  Well someone (at some time in this gowns' life) decided to re-design it.  So I believe the neckline and strappy low back was the new design (which I have to say, I really love!!!), but they didn't complete the job.  If you look at the last photos, you will see that the metal zipper needs to be replaced by a shorter one (!), and then they messed up the back "fishtail" inset... but that isn't so important as the gown needs to be shortened anyway due to a heel hole about 7" up from the hem... so the longest this dress will be is about 50" from shoulder to hem (leaving 1/2" hem).  Currently the gown measures:  40" bust, up to 30" waist, up to 39" hips. I tucked in the back a bit in most of the photos to fit the 35" bust mannequin (easily done!).  Fully lined (with minor professional repairs to the lining and some slight dirt at edges).  I should have probably just had a tailor shorten this and sold as a dress, but better to have you style to your liking!  You are buying a gorgeous dress ... she just needs a little TLC, and then you have one spectacular dress!  :)

Hand-Written Label Under!  I love it when you get TWO pieces in one!  You get the great simple black silk dress with "just barely there" sleeves and wide "barely there" tiny collar... the perfect LBD to show off your accessories.  But if you want a different look, add the jacket and it looks like you are wearing a suit with skirt!  I'm thinking this could be dated 1952, which means it might have been designed by Gustave Tassell who was designing for Hattie Carnegie until 1952.   But, just a guess on my part.  Whoever designed it, it's great.  The detail on the upper jacket is what "makes" it.  Check it out in the photos.  Excellent condition. Measures: up to 37" bust, up to 28" waist, up to 39" hips, 17" long from shoulder to waist, 26" waist to hem (with additional 3.5" in hem... looks like it was hemmed up twice).  Jacket measures:  up to 38" bust, up to 29" waist. Side metal zipper.  There are minor seam stitchmarks at the sides as it looks to have been enlarged ever so slightly.  Gotta love the steel blue lining of the jacket!!!  Classic Carnegie Blue!!! :)  I could be wrong, but I'm thinking there might have been a bow at the collar of the jacket.  Damn me for even bringing it up, but I like to tell you everything I'm thinking, otherwise I won't be able to sleep at night.  Great price for these two pieces because I bought it right!  Lucky you!!

#5732 - late 1960's / early 1970's CORDOBA,;London, Made in England "UBER MOD" "Carnaby Street" Pig Suede and Patent Leather Pants Suit!  In my research, I found Cordoba Suede Wear was located at 134 New Bond Street in London, which is considered home to the most elegant and expensive shops in London.  And no surprise as this item came from the estate of an extremely wealthy woman from Greenwich, CT.   She told me she used to "hang out" with the likes of Mick Jagger.   I found one old photo of a Cordoba, London suede short skirt and jacket from 1967 which sold for approx. 20 and 44 back then (which according to the historical monetary and inflation calculators would be worth $420 and $917 USD today)... so for about $1500 today you could buy this new. Check out the details of this unique suit.  Love the two-tone "flower" buttons. The combination of "Mod" with  "US Western influence" on the jacket! Wild combination!   Also check out the detailing of the seaming at the toosh of the pants! Sexy! :)  Please note that this is PIG suede... which means it's quite stiff.. but that was what was fashionable.  Lambsuede was used more in the 1980s. Measures: 34" bust, up to 28" waist, up to 40" hips, 25.5" long from shoulder to hem of jacket.  There are only minor imperfections of a bit or "rubbing" of the suede.... which might be able to be brushed to perfection (see photos.... if you don't see anything wrong, that's how picky I am!).  I've not seen another US Cowboy influence London Mod suit! :)

#5732A - late 1960's / early 1970's CORDOBA Suedewear, 134 New Bond Street, London, England Brown Suede "Gucci-look" Vest!   Wow.. another Cordoba piece! I found one old photo of a Cordoba, London suede short skirt and jacket from 1967 which sold for approx. 20 and 44 back then (which according to the historical monetary and inflation calculators would be worth $420 and $917 USD today).  This is SO Gucci looking you'd swear it was.  Goldtone hardware closure at front with additional hardware on the patch pockets. Trimmed in brown leather.  Please note that this is PIG suede... which means it's quite stiff.. but that was what was fashionable.  Lambsuede was used more in the 1980s. Shown on size 35" bust mannequin. Only issues are some indentation marks in the suede (stored with the hardware laying on the suede). One spot upper back (see photo) and one mis-threading in the zig-zag (original to the piece).  I'm VERY picky so I mention anything that you might question at all!!But I start from near Mint condition and go from there.   Not one of those vests with fabric backs... this is meant to be seen front and back!  Would look smashing with ivory or camel colored turtleneck and slacks!  Very ritzy.

#5825 - 1940's Black Bugle Bead Crepe Peplum Blouse!  Hattie Carnegie from Bonwit Teller??  LARGER SIZE!  Nice!  From the same woman who owned the Gothe gown above.  Another classic 1940's shape, this time in a blouse.  There is no label left in this blouse, but the owner's daughter is sure she bought it at Bonwit's in NYC and it was a Hattie Carnegie.  Small shoulderpads make this either a transitional era from the 1930's or into the 1950's.  I haven't decided which is correct, but while I'm bemusing, you can be buying.  Wear with a simple skirt, long or short and you have a smashing look!  Black crepe fully covered with black bugle beads in the classic serpent design.  Love the tapered slightly puffy sleeves (which makes me believe this is more toward the 1930's).   Hope you can see the detail at the front, gathered in sunray design at the front seamed waistline at front and back. Side metal zipper. Excellent condition!  If there are any beads missing, I can't find anything to mention.  The upper back MAY have been open (like a slit up the upper back) originally... looks like it might have been lightly sewn shut.  I'm leaving it as found.  Measures: up to 42" bust, up to 35" waist, up to 41" hips.

#6887 - 1992 MTV Music Television Black Leather Bomber Jacket! Size LARGE!  WHOA! HAPPY 30th ANNIVERSARY to MTV!  This is certainly different!  Especially on my website.  I don't normally sell items like this, but hey, it's a great gift item for your MTV or music fan!  It's 100% leather exterior with a quilted nylon lining.  Love the bright blue and white leather with red accent leathers all sewn together.  The "Music Television" below the leather logo is embroidered in red.  The ribbed cuffs, waistband and collar are matching tri-colored bands.  Note the cool metal zipper tag at front... with the MTV logo as well!  Very Good to Excellent condition.... the minor faults are simple to overlook... the lining has some discoloration/fading and there are tiny marks on the leather (see photos - picky, picky, picky!).  I've seen other MTV jackets, but none better than this!  LOVE the style! It's shown on a large female dressform, but it's labeled LARGE, which is a man's size Large.  I tried it on my XL boyfriend just to confirm.  It's a regular length, not as good for a tall guy (my guy is 6'1" and a bit short for him)... like a size 40-42R.    Also Listed in the Furs, etc. Section.

Two pieces that can work as Three!  It's a YSL dress.  It's a YSL blouse.  It's a YSL skirt.  However you like to wear it, it's from my favorite designer of all time (only rivaled by Valentino)... Yves Saint Laurent.  Gotta say this my favorite color range for YSL... a peacock coloration in a brilliant blue, purple, fuschia and soft black.  The blouse tie covers a low slit, so you could possibly wear differently. The skirt is knife pleated (and could be shortened if you are purchasing to wear, rather than as an investment piece.. though please just don't tell me you will shorten).  OK?  Measures: up to 27.5" waist, 32" long from waist to hem.  So now all you have to do is decide how to wear it.  Add a wide belt, or a vest, or a jacket, or a sweater, or wear the blouse with jeans (ooh!), or the skirt with a sweater set, or the skirt with tank top, or the blouse with a pencil skirt, or....   you get the point.Near mint condition for both pieces.

#5895 - c. 1970's LYNNE GREENE Black Sexy Rayon Jersey and Lace Gown!  This gown came to me directly from the innovative designer, Lynne Greene.  If you don't know her, just do a Google search and you will find she specialized in lingerie... which is no surprise as this gown is just as sexy as any nightgown!  Made from one of the "new" fabrics from the 1970's (you know, the decade they also discovered ultrasuede!).  I guarantee you'll like this a lot better than that!  This rayon jersey actually has a great "hand" to it and drapes on the body beautifully.  So as if that's not sexy enough, you have the sweetheart neckline covered with black stretch lace, and the lace ruffle "sleeves".  Then turn to your side, and the black lace becomes the bodice, and in the back you find the long open slit!  The only way you know this is a gown rather than a nightgown is the invisible zipper at the upper skirt back. Measures: up to 35" bust, up to 27" waist, up to 40" hips, 60" long from shoulder to hem.  Excellent condition... like new!

#7173 - c. 1930's LARGER SIZE Royal Blue Silk Chiffon Dress with Lace! OK, for all you who say "Don't you have any larger sizes?" or "I'll never fit into vintage.", I always try to find pretty dresses in larger sizes.  Most of the time when I find larger, I don't like the dress.... and I only sell what I like.   Hopefully the fact that I'm showing this dress on the larger mannequin will make those of you who have been looking for this to stop in your tracks. Royal blue silk chiffon with a slightly dropped waist and great 30s seaming in the skirt below the hips.  Lovely fluttering "shawl" sleeves with an ecru lace panel at the front bodice.  Tiny, sweet rhinestone "bow" buckle at thin matching belt.  And to top it off, the original matching chiffon floral "corsage" is still attached with streamers.  The dress is lined as you see. Measures:  up to 45" bust, up to 42" waist, up to 44" hips, 47" long from shoulder to hem.  The condition is Excellent with some exceptions.  There are minor, hard to see spots here and there (see photos ... if you barely see the spots, that's because they are barely visible, some are reddish, some dark gray), and in the last photo, you will see the interior chiffon lining that has pulled away from the back which should be resewn - but I don't sew, so best for you to get it done right.  Very easy for someone... other than me! :)  Otherwise, it's really very wearable and quite sturdy for a chiffon dress!

I can only call them "phantom marks".  You will hardly see them, but I like to tell you everything.  Oh, and the original belt is missing, but any will do, or none.

So imagine my surprise to find this dress that looks practically new condition!!  And you gotta love the style as well, with that fantastic sequined floral bodice, and all trimmed in a band of red linen.  Low "v" back and fairly low rounded front.  Even the sides have an interesting shaped "v" at the bottom of the bodice... giving the impression of a two-piece outfit (sequined shell over linen skirt), but no... it's a dress.  I added the simple red material sash and tied in a bow just to show you options... it doesn't come with the dress.  Again...  Excellent condition!  Measures: 34" bust, up to 28" waist, up to 37" hips, 40" long from shoulder to hem.  Metal zipper at back.  What's not to LOVE in this dress??

Damn I love Bergdorf Goodman!  Why didn't all designers and shops think ahead and date all their pieces??  We fashion historians thank them!  Now look at the design of the bodice on this beauty...  it's what you might expect from the best or the best Ceil Chapman... intricate gathering which continues down to the upper hipline and then comes the MASSIVE bubble hemline skirt with attached black net lining! As you can see, the front sweeps up giving a "Spanish Flamenco" look to skirt. Excellent condition.  Back metal zip.  Measures: 33/34" bust, 25.5/26" waist, 44" long from natural waist to hem. I can just imagine this gown with long black gloves and dripping with diamond necklace as she swept into the room with that taffeta swishing sound.  Damn I was born in the wrong era. ;(  Nanty was a well-known high-end label creating original gowns and Parisian copies... and sold at the best department stores and boutiques including the famed shop Martha of Park Avenue, New York, and Palm Beach, Florida.

#1766 - c. 1950's CLAIRE McCARDELL Clothes by Townley, Bettmann Fabric Striped Wool Jersey Knit Dress!  Museum Quality! I sold this dress 11 years ago, and I was STILL dreaming about it!  So I was so excited to see it again... like an old friend!!  I sell so few McCardell's (because there are so few fantastic ones still available)so I suppose we start with a quick Claire McCardell bio.  Only a few years out of school, Claire went to work at Townley with designer Richard Turk who died soon after which basically left her with the head designer position! (There's a quick way up the ladder!) Anyway, she stayed for a few years, went to Hattie Carnegie for two years and then back to Townley in 1940 to design under her own label. Ms. McCardell is credited with developing the blueprint for American sportswear...practical clothing, simple fabrics, clean purposeful shapes. Her innovations were the "popover" wraparound dress, soft empire dresses, bloomer-like playsuits, dirndl skirts, tube tops(eek!) and bareback summer dresses. She is considered to have been one of America's most influential designers. So... her dresses are becoming more and more prized.  You have to remember how highly structured the clothing was at the time to know how innovative this dress was for the time. Very soft, comfortable knitted "sweater" jersey designed into a wonderfully shaped dress. Her signature brass round hook and-eye closures at the front. A real gem of a dress in Excellent Condition/Near Mint... can't find anything wrong with it! Sort of reds and greens and blacks (look at the close-up photos for true fabric colors).  Measures: 36-38" bust, up to 29/30" waist, 49" long from shoulder to hem.   Also Listed in the Museum Category.

#5807 - c. early 1950's WORTH of Wellesley Black Taffeta and Velveteen Ballgown Yeah, I know... but don't get excited about the Worth label on this gown.  It was actually from a now closed clothing boutique in Wellesley, MA called Worth... no connection with the House of Worth.  OK, now that that is explained, now we can just get on with the beautiful gown itself.  Fairly simple... and simply elegant!  Rayon black taffeta (fairly substantial weight) appliqued with black cotton velveteen in a sort of modified curvy "fleur-de-lis" design.  The skirt on this gown is massive!! 280" around hemline!!!  I'm showing this over my largest hoop, and as you can see, it's STILL could go larger!!!  Love the "V" waistline at front, and the wide round neckline... and the placement of the velvet at the bodice creating a "corset" look. Measures: 35/36" bust, up to 26" waist. Side metal zipper. Excellent condition.

#7395A - c. 1980's MORTON MYLES For the Warrens Sequined Cotton Floral Print Party Dress! I can't be the only one who secretly adores these 1980s "pouf" dresses!!  Especially when life gets too boring, and you just have to shake your fashion up a bit.  You know, like wearing a Hawaiian shirt to work.  Morton Myles is noted American designer who created the iconic robin's egg dress Jacqueline Kennedy wore on the cover of a February 1961 "Look" magazine.  Here's some info from a company who had a retrospective and sale of Myles' dresses:  "The 82-year-old designer, who now lives in Scottsdale, trained in Paris and was known for figure-flattering garments. Along with Kennedy, Myles worked with celebrities such as actress Paulette Goddard and designed special collections for fashion institutions like Saks Fifth Avenue. He was one of the first to do the pouf dress in America in the '80s   Myles is quoted to say, 'The only reason I designed clothes was to make women look beautiful. I never designed outrageous things just to get my name into press. My clothes flattered women, and made them look beautiful and new.' And per David Sheflin, 'Every time I get one of his dresses in, they fly of the racks. There aren't that many out there to sell. I think that's because people loved them so much they just wore them to death.' The dresses are for sale, and range between $350-$750."   This dress is fantastic.  One-shouldered cotton print completely covered with clear sequins, so it sparkles under the light without seeing the sequins!!!  Bright colors... like a coloring book come to life. Back zipper.  Crinoline netting under.  Fully lined. Measures: 34" bust, up to 28" waist, up to 40" hips, 37" long from shoulder to hem.  FABULOUS on me.... so I'm assuming it will be the same on you!  Excellent condition.

If you don't know how incredibly fabulous this is, then what can I say to you??  Oh, other than to say that I show this worn as a dress, and as a possible skirt with wide waistband.  You can get as creative as Moschino. Measures: 36" bust, 30" underbust, up to 46" hips, or if worn as a skirt, can go up to a 30" waist best. 34" long from shoulder to hem when worn as a dress. Excellent, near mint condition. Galanos sable coats!), so it was good enough for her! :)  Measures: up to 36/38" bust, up to 32" waist, up to 41" hips, 44" long from shoulder to hem.  This dress is a bit too large for my size 6 mannequin so it will look better on you. #5830 - c. 1970's VERA BOREA (Countess di Regoli), 376 Rue St. Honore, Paris Black Fine Wool Blend Gold Studded Suit!  From the Estate of a Central Park South NYC Socialite!  Vera Who??? Yeah, I know, that's what I said to myself, and I should know more than most!  Vera Borea (also known as the Countess di Regoli) was a French fashion designer who came to prominence in 1932.  Her Paris salon was patronized by customers from France and the US.  From the beginning her clothes featured unusual small details which made her designs unique. Her sports clothes were coveted for their cool, vigorous, and fashionable appearance.  In the 1930's, The Haute Couture House of Vera Borea was mentioned in the same breath as Chanel, Patou, Lelong and Maggy Rouff and stayed in existence in the same prestigious Rue St. Honore location until at least 1981.  A mid-weight black wool blend (which I could explain the fabric better, but not a wooly wool).  Fabulous round solid and circle goldtone studs trimming jacket and skirt hemline.  The waistline of the jacket is studded on black grosgrain ribbon (very Chanel-ish).  Slightly A-line shaped skirt. Measures:  Jacket:  up to 36" bust, 22" long from shoulder to jacket hem.  Skirt: 28" waist, up to 40" hips, 24" long from waist to hem.  As was the style from the 70's, the sleeves are narrow.  Only two hooks close the jacket front.  Need to wear with blouse/shirt under.  Looks as smashing as any 1970's Chanel suit on!  Excellent condition.  #7065 - c. 1950's Glamorous Fucshia Satin Dress with Black Jet Beaded Bodice and Matching Bead Edged Wrap!  Are you the kind of woman (me included) who love to have a wrap to wear over your sleeveless arms?  Could be because you hate your arms (me included), or you are always cold (me included), or because you just want to me more elegant than the next women (yup, that would also be me!).  Not easy to find the original wraps with the dress as over the years they have been stored separately, and then, well... you know... things get lost.  But luckily, these two beauties survived together.   The photos tell you what you need to know... but look at the close up photos to see the sheer chiffon bodice dripping with looped fringe black jet beads and black sequins over a "bra" shaped slip.  Love the wide rushed waist to set off the beaded fringe under the bodice (wonderfully assymetrical!). Stiffened slight bubble shaped skirt.  Back metal zipper.  Dress measures:  34" bust, 25/26" waist (inner band is 25"), 41" long from shoulder to hem (with additional 2.5 in hem).  Stole measures: 72" x 12.5".  Too bad no designer label remains, but I'm sure it would have been a good one! Excellent condition.  The black bodice underslip looks to have lightened (browned) a bit, but it doesn't really matter... looks perfectly fine from the exterior. Note: some photos are lightened to see detail.

ORIGINAL TAGS!  ORIGINALLY $275!  "James Galanos is an American fashion designer, widely considered to be one the world's foremost 20th century couturiers."  No, I didn't write that, but just want you to know the pedigree of this dress. Oh, and with the inflation calculator, this would have been a modern day $2,000 dress. There are lots of interesting design elements in the seaming  (especially in the sleeves) that sadly you can hardly see in this busy black and off-white 100% silk satin print. Front black bow with fringed edges. Meticulously made (to be expected by Galanos) with a dropped waist gathered poufy skirt on a fitted bodice with 3/4 length sleeves (wonderful length for black gloves!). The skirt has all the internal material you need.  No extra crinoline needed.  Back metal zipper.  Measures:  36" bust, up to 30" waist, 41" long from shoulder to hem.  Please note:  the labels you see hang from the interior hanger straps, so these may have been original wholesale tags for sale to a department store (as there is no Galanos label inside the dress), so might have been sold for boutique to sew in their own label (it was done at high-end boutiques!).  NOTE: in 1961, his chiffon dresses sold in shops for $475 - $800! This from a April 14, 1961 Life Magazine article.  Excellent condition! ORIGINAL DEADSTOCK DESIGNER DRESS is RARE! It's like Time Travelling!   Also Listed in the Museum Category.

Measures:  up to 35" bust, 24/25" waist, up to 34/35" hips. Back metal zipper. Lined in gauze (as are some of the best designer dresses of the 50s).  Excellent condition with just the tiniest itty bitty tear at the underarm (see photo). #9221 - c. 1980s CELINE, Made in France Jacket of Red Lightweight Wool with Double-breasted Goldtone Buttons!  One of those "essentials" for your closet. Large patch pockets seem to blend in, and the nicely notched collar gives this a certain "poshness" as does the 3 button sleeves.  The chain with logo is at the upper back lining.  From the estate of a woman who had 3 sable coats!!  Yup... only the best!  Celine? The luxury goods brand debuted the ready-to-wear line in the 1960s. Not surprisingly, it's defined as "Beautiful classical lines and styles, history of classical designs that withstand time."  Yup.  Check.  Not an outlandish, oversized shouldered piece.  Absolutely wearable today.

#6907 - c. 1950 PAUL PARNES Dress with Bolero Jacket of Black Wool and Taffeta! This is not the cheaper Paul Parnes Ltd. label from the 1960s, but the earlier, better goods.   I read that Mr. Parnes worked with Adrian and Edith Head, but really I find little quick info.  But I DO know that this label was sold at the finest high-end department stores like Bonwit Teller.  I have to tell you that my Grandmother was a seamstress so she sewed all my mother's clothing until she was in her 20's.  I still have a dress that my Grandmother made for her that looks very similar to this dress!!!  So obviously it was one that my mom asked her to copy! :)  So I have a great personal connection with this piece... though I think even if I didn't, I would still adore it.  It's a think black wool (perhaps a blend) in a figure hugging style with those wide black taffeta bands around. The simple details of the little notch "v" designs with buttons give it a great touch.  The matching bolero jacket works perfectly with the dress and is equally beautiful on or off. Measures: 40" bust, up to 32" waist, up to 41" hips, 44" long dress from shoulder to hem, 27.5" long jacket from shoulder to hem.  Excellent condition.  Should wear a half-slip under as the fabric is slightly sheer at the bottom.

#7164 - c. 1950's Nassau, The Bahamas Vacation Dress! I always seek out unique "novelty" items!  Anything that just makes you smile. Bringing a bit of whimsy or fun in your wardrobe, though they still have to be attractive enough to wear. So how cool is this!  A simple white printed linen dress with "postcards" of Nassau, the Bahamas hotels, transportation and history lessons.  As I lifted from some website, "From those halcyon days – when Nassau was a top destination for affluent sailors, powerboaters and game fishermen."  SO sad that most all of these hotels are now gone. But this might just be the right dress for some of you with fond memories of these places. Measures:  up to 34/35" bust, up to 31" waist, up to 42" hips, 42" long from shoulder to hem, and 16" from shoulder to waist, but stills sits a bit short-waisted  - which isn't a problem, and if you are long waisted, you just wear a belt to bring down to your waist.  NOTE:  I'm 34" bust, 26" waist, 38" hips, and it looks great on me as well!  So you don't have to be the larger size above for this to fit beautifully.   Not true with many pieces.  May have been homemade, but nicely done.
For some reason I forgot to photograph the back, but it's nearly exactly the same as the front, with a back metal zipper.  The dress has a waist seam for shape, otherwise it's just a sheath.  Excellent condition. Unlined for warm weather. And unhemmed as you see, so will need to hem up where you want.

#7064 - EXTREMELY RARE c. 1950's GENEVIEVE D'ARIAUX, P.A.P, Paris, Made in France Dress with Short Jacket of Black Faille and Velvet! First off, FYI, the P.A.P means Pret-a-Porter (or "ready-to-wear" as opposed to "made-to-measure" Couture). That was your first lesson today.  Your second lesson is to introduce you to Genevieve Antoine d'Ariaux who wrote the book on fashion... literally!  In 1964, she wrote: "A Guide to Elegance: For Every Woman Who Wants to Be Well and Properly Dressed on All Occasions", which has become a cult classic.  There was even a 2004 novel, "Elegance", by Kathleen Tessaro, that tells the story of a frumpy middle-aged woman who transforms her life after finding a 40-year old copy of d'Ariaux's book!  In her own words from the book, Madame d'Ariaux writes:  "After earning the professional title of Paruriere (Accessorist) to the Haute Couture, which meant that more than half of my annual trade was with the haute couture (...the important Paris designers who sell original custom-made fashions in their own salons), I became a designer for a small knitwear firm.  My own couture house, Genevieve d'Ariaux was doing very well at the time, with a clientele of fashionable women who... couldn't pay the prices I asked.  Being a fanatic about quality, I would refuse to deliver a garment unless I was entirely satisfied with it, and the costs were soaring".  So seems Mme. d'Ariaux decided instead to became directress of the Nina Ricci salons. So you can imagine her clothing is quite rare!  I don't know the original prices, and haven't found other pieces of hers, but I did find someone asking $900 for her autographed notes!!   In addition to her books, she was given the title of French fashion editor.  Obviously a great sense of humor, one favorite quote in her book reads: "Be careful of reading health books; you may die of a misprint." :)

Measures: Dress: 37" bust, up to 30" waist, 38" long from shoulder to hem.  Jacket: 34/35" bust (depending where the button is placed... it was moved 1").  Dress has a 5" hem and looks to have been taken up 2".  The dress has some seam tracks to show it was taken out a bit, so you just sew everything back to the original placement for the original dress/jacket.... however, the way it is now is perfectly fine to wear.  There is no crinoline under, but I photographed with one (not included). Metal zipper at back of dress. The jacket fits tightly, so you should have a smallish back, and the 3/4 length sleeves are tight at the cuffs.   Also Listed in the Museum Category.

#4666a - c. 1960's White and Silver/Gold Brocade "Mod" Dress! Larger Size!  Oh why couldn't I afford dresses like this that I would have loved to wear in the 1960s?? :(  This is what the sophisticated girls would have worn... perhaps with white go-go boots, a gold chain belt around the hips and a white space-age hat!  Don't forget the Jean Shrimpton hair and ultra light lipstick!   OR just as pretty to wear today without all that stuff, just simply pretty.  Perhaps one great statement necklace.  Nice enough to wear to a wedding.  Excellent condition.  Lilies of the valley motif of silver/gold metallic brocade. A-line seaming.  Measures:  up to 40" bust, up to 34" waist, up to 42" hips, 37" long from shoulder to hem.  No label, but nicely made.  Slightly heavyweight material.

#5725 - c. 1970's Fred Hayman's GIORGIO, Beverly Hills Soft 100% Camel Hair Black Pants Suit with Goldtone Studs! Never Worn? From an LA Now article re: Giorgio:  "In these recessionary times, it might be tough to recall what Rodeo Drive was like in the 1970s and 1980s. So influential was Fred Hayman that designers such as Halston granted him the exclusive right to sell their designs. Patrons arrived with an extra limousine for their purchases. As recounted in a 1998 LA Times Magazine story, Hayman once had to close the shop temporarily to regroup after an Arab and his harem bought every evening dress in the joint.  Through his store also walked the likes of Natalie Wood, Princess Grace, Ronald and Nancy Reagan, Diana Ross, Charlton Heston, and Elizabeth Taylor."  And also at Giorgio was the former model and wealthy society woman who purchased this 100% camel hair black studded pants suit! You will swear there is some cashmere! Each goldtone stud is prong set, so they won't be flying off as would happen today (with cheap manufacturing).  Zipper front modified "Eisenhower" jacket with pointed lager collar and huge patch pockets at front. More studding at the back!  The pants are classic style with studding at every seam!  :) Even the inner leg!!  Zipper front, short pockets at front, and belt loops. Please note that the white bustier doesn't come with this outfit.... mainly because it's not real... I just photoshopped it in so my mannequin wasn't topless (this isn't that kind of website, you know!).  Measures: PANTS: 29" waist, up to 39" hips, 32" inseam, 13.5" rise. JACKET: up to 39" bust (but feels smaller), 15" across back between armseams, 18" long from shoulder to hem of jacket, 18" inner sleeve from underarm to cuff.  Labeled old 12, but more like an 6/8 today. Great pieces to wear separately, or together.  Excellent condition. Looks never worn. Fully lined. Fantastic!!

#7362 - c. 1990's ESCADA Soft Black Empire Waist Tank Dress with Matching Coat Both Edged in Triple Paillettes!  OK, I'm guessing this is 1990's as it has that simple elegance look of that decade, but could be newer.  I'm better at dating Victorian items than newish pieces! Now, the photos will show you just how wealthy this Spring outfit looks... but the original price tags will show you just how wealthy you had to have been to purchase it new!!  $2,200 for the coat, and $1,200 for the dress!!  Yes, $3,300 for this outfit! OK, it's beautiful... but still that seems a bit excessive to me.  So if you can handle just two hard to find paillettes missing, and ever so slight (really! look at the photos!)underarm lightening on the dress, you will adore this outfit!  Measures: 33/34" bust, up to 28" waist, up to 36" hips. The material is a waffle silk/wool blend??  Not sure of the material but that's what it feels like. Fairly lightweight... great Spring outfit at over 75% OFF!!  Whoo Whoo!!!

#7349 - c. 1980's THIERRY MUGLER, Made in Paris Gold Trapunto Suit with Wrap Skirt! God, I love Thierry Mugler suits. Always have... since the 1980s when I bought one white Mugler jacket (which I still have to this day) and never wanted to wear it, because I didn't want to wear it out!  Crazy, huh?  Guess I loved it as a work of art.  I probably should just frame it. Meanwhile... I always look at Mugler suits, and every once in a while I find one so beautiful that makes my teeth hurt!! (one of my old boyfriends used to say that, and I never understood it until now!).  This suit is spectacular.  Look at the details of the wide neckline at front, the pockets on jacket that go around the back to a decor!  Just killer tailoring!  This is a true wrap skirt so you will have to learn how to sit correctly :)  So fantastic that it could be worn for a second wedding, or by the MOB or MOG (Mother of the Bride or Groom for those of you who don't know!), or any evening dinner date!   So "Sex in the City" (if you care).  Measures: 36" bust, 26" waist, up to 40" hips, 22" long skirt. Marked size 40. Excellent condition.  The only thing to say is that it has a small, tight back, so it will not be like wearing a leisure suit.  It's not particularly comfortable if you want to raise your arms, so just stand there and look incredible! :)  FYI, I sold this SAME jacket a few years ago without the skirt for the same price!!!!  You luck out and get both pieces!

#5744 - c. 1980's BOB MACKIE Pink Fully Beaded Dress!  Yup... I find the best of the best Bob Mackie dresses!!!  I know there are many Bob Mackie dresses out there that pale in comparison.  It's all a matter of finding the most elaborate pieces.  This one sets my heart aflutter.  The fact that it's pink doesn't hurt (LOVE pink!  I'm such a girly-girl!!). If you've seen the most recent awards shows, you will see that long sleeves and higher necks are back in vogue (thank you Angelina Jolie and Anne Hathaway!), and they got rave reviews for their looks! And... this one was never worn!  Still has the original hang tag.  This is not one of the very early Mackie's on netting, but still fantastic.. of the design you might have expected form one of the netted dresses.  Check out that "v" hemline, short in the front and long in the back with clear beaded fringe all around the scalloped hemline.  Yup, fantastic!  Pink, silver, white, and coral beads and sequins create the rest of the deco and floral design.  The photos will explain all the rest.  Measures: up to 36" bust, up to 29" waist, up to 37" hips. 35"-55" long from shoulder to hem.  Back zipper.

Measures:  33/34" bust, 27/28" waist, 34" hipline (at 3.5" below natural waist), 44" long from shoulder to hem. Metal zipper at back. Excellent condition, though missing the original belt (but frankly I like without any... so you just need to remove the belt loops).  The only fit issue is slightly small armholes... so best for thin arms, or open the seam below the arm and create more of an open cap flutter sleeve!

#5731 - c. early 1970's DONALD BROOKS Mulitcolored Paisley and Striped Gown!  Four Time Coty Award Winner and Emmy Winner! Zowie!  Don't know Donald Brooks?  You should!  Mr. Brooks emerged with a few other American designers after World War II.  He did not become as famous as Bill Blass and Geoffrey Beene, but within the industry, they were know as "the three B's of fashion." Mr. Brooks was hand-picked by the influential Lord & Taylor president Dorothy Shaver to design a collection for the store in the 1950's. In 1958 Mr. Brooks began designing for Townley Frocks (after Clare McCardell), and from 1965-1973 he designed under his own name. His collections were quite successful.  He was one of the few American designers who designed for the theater, TV and movies. He received a Tony nomination, three Oscar nominations, and an Emmy Award.
Mr. Brooks designed over 3,500 costumes for more than 20 Broadway shows, etc. including costumes for Liza Minnelli, Julie Andrews, Carol Burnett, Lee Remick, Joanne Woodward, Claudette Colbert, Faye Dunaway.. AND he was one of Jackie Kennedy’s favorite designers. In 2003, the Parsons School of Design had a retrospective of his work.  OK... see why you should know him??  The gown is a very heavy-weight silk and quite substantial feeling.  Two extra layers of skirt under the bold striping... paired with the wild paisley bodice with extremely long "sash" which can be bowed or worn down as you see. Buttons up the front bodice so you can get as sexy as you want.  Excellent condition except for a few issues to mention.  I see two small round holes under the sash and one very end of the sash is crusted (see photos).   58" long from shoulder to hem.  Museum worthy!

I show in one photo with just a ribbon as a belt (doesn't come with it), but I like to define my waist.   Back zipper.  Measures: up to 38" bust, up to 31" waist, up to 42" hips, 34" long from shoulder to hem at shortest, 45" at longest. #7291 - c. 1930's Black Silk Jersey Evening Gown Trimmed in Black Bugle Beads! The price of this gown will give you some idea of the quality of this piece... as there is no label or any other way for you to know.  I can explain all I want, but it's in the handling of this gown that proves the point... and that's the one thing you can't do over the internet (OK, you can't smell it either, but that's of no consequence here, so...).   The material is a heavy silk jersey that gives this gown the movement of the wonderfully tailored "mermaid" skirt which Ginger Rogers would have loved!  In the last photo, I show the skirt with a hoop slip under so you can see just how full it is at the hemline.  Then the bustline, straps, hemline and wide front "belt" is all trimmed in black bugle beads in decorative designwork.  Snaps at the side. Excellent condition with one teeny tiny exception of one teeny tiny pinhole on back upper skirt.  See photo.  It's SOOO easy for an expert to reweave or hide just by wearing or backing in black, but I want you to know it's there. Side snaps.  If you have only one 1930s black gown, this is the one you should have.  Measures: 35" bust, up to 28" waist, up to 34/35" hips, 57" long from shoulder to hem.

Spring, 1957 TRAINA NORELL Red and Pink Roses Printed Silk Gown with Low Back!  A gown from this Traina Norell collection of Spring, 1957 was photographed for the March 18, 1957 issue of Life Magazine.  The exact fabric was used for another version of this gown, and priced at $325.  So, I went to the inflation calculator online (love that!) and here's the answer: "What cost $325 in 1957 would cost $2487.85 in 2010."  So let's just figure an even $2500!  Beautiful "Audrey Hepburn" boat neckline at front and a very low scoop neckline at back.  Comes with the original matching belt.  Measures:  34/35" bust, up to 25/26" waist, up to 38" hips.  The hem is down in this dress, so you can hem as you need.  Near mint condition.

#6896 - RARE c. 1940's GLADYS PARKER, Hollywood  Black Crepe Open Front Gown! WOW... I don't think I've ever seen another!  Gladys Parker was a very popular, nationally known cartoonist, yes, cartoonist (!) in the 1930s, and in addition she was a fashion designer who created some really fabulous clothing!  Under the name Gladys Parker Designs, her clothing line was sold in stores as early as 1934, capitalizing on her fame as the artist of Flapper Fanny Says, and in 1939 she created her most endearing character, Mopsy. Parker modeled Mopsy after herself!  The Mopsy Sunday strip was added to newspapers in 1945 and gave Parker an opportunity to draw her fashion creations in a sidebar feature of paper dolls.  Parker also designed clothing for films. Here's some fascinating 1935 footage on her wonderful designs!  http://www.efootage.com/stock-footage/58568/Gladys_Parker_Fashion_Show/  This particular gown is a flowing black crepe in wonderful and sexy design... as the front bodice is slit up the front from the waist up!  Yes, slit!  Totally open!  Whoo whoo!!  Closes with one hook/eye at the neckline.  Looong flowing batwing sleeves.  The figure is defined by the wide "v" shaped waistband.  Heavy metal zipper at the back.  The long pleated skirt is tucked at the side seams to create a hobble effect!  Measures: up to 38" bust (it's open so who can measure exactly?), up to 25" waist, 60" long from shoulder to hem. Excellent condition with the only issue (if you want to call it that) are fabric snags at the front waistband, but I'm sure that was from some fancy ornament or large pin! And I'd suggest you do the same with whatever turns you on. The price reflects the fine condition, rarity of this label, and quality of the design!    Also Listed in the Museum Category.

#4662 - c. 1980's UNGARO Parallele, Paris, Fabricated and Made in Italy Quilted Floral "Impressionist" Suit with Peplum Jacket! So hard to photograph prints as the details disappear, but I've photographed the jacket alone so you can see the unique peplum below the black "v" piping at front, sides and back.  Nehru collar, puffed sleeves, button front jacket with very fitted "wiggle walk" pencil skirt.  Obviously you can wear this as a suit, but don't forget you can split these up to wear separately for a tamer look.  But for those of you who just LOVE the attention, just strut your stuff with platform shoes and ... oh hell... go crazy and wear with a hat! :)  I love what I read of Emanuel Ungaro (from the Fashion Encyclopedia):  "Toward the end of the 1970s, Ungaro began to experiment with the then-taboo mixing of textures and prints, of which he has become the master. With the advantage of textile designer Sonia Knapp's artistic fabric designs, the look evolved into more painterly, impressionistic florals, abstract smears, luminous colors."   And I read this AFTER I used the word "Impressionist" in my description. It's like wearing a combination Matisse/Monet.  Probably a cotton mix fabric. Near Mint condition.  Measures: up to 38" bust, 26/27" waist skit, up to 36" hips, 20" long skirt, 24" long jacket at longest.

#6538 - c. 2007 MARC JACOBS Light Blue and White Cotton Dress with Red Leather Clutch Purse!  Worn by Lake Bell in the Movie "Over Her Dead Body"! Should I confess? Yes, I suppose I should because it's possible we will be wearing the same dress if we ever meet! :)  That's because I bought TWO of these dresses from the movie set of "Over Her Dead Body".  I just couldn't bear to sell the first one I bought (as I look damn good in it), so I got this other one.  You are buying the only one with the red leather clutch purse she wore ( I just pinned it to the dressform, but you can see it's either a clutch or has a hand strap.) I don't get a purse, I got only one of those so it's yours :(  If you watch the movie you will see why they had more than one dress/purse... because in the scene she is buying a hotdog at a vendor and manages to squirt mustard all over the dress and purse.  So they certainly needed additional dresses for re-takes.  Luckily this is NOT the dress that was "slimed". Marked size 4.  I guess this proves that I size larger as I would call this a 4/6. Measures: up to 35" bust, up to 30" waist. Now you know where the idea for Ruffles potato chips came from! :)   Please don't use this information as the basis for your Masters in Fashion thesis as it's not true.  But sometimes my jokes are taken literally. So, this dress came from a VERY wealthy socialite (you'll see a few more of her fun pieces soon).  She told me it was Travilla (you know... Marilyn Monroe's favorite designer... who designed her most famous white "subway" grate dress!), though there is no label remaining, but certainly seems correct to me!   Very well-made.  Excellent condition (though the original black satin belt is slightly bent just from bending at the waist. The sleeves and the upper yoke are see-though (unlined).  The rest of the dress is lined as you can, except the very bottom which will show a little sheerness on the bottom wired ruffle. Back zipper. From just about the time that Princess Diana got married (c. 1981) as this gown has the same huge balloon sleeves and ruffled cuffs... though frankly this gown is even more elaborate that Diana's wedding gown!!!  Ruffles everywhere!  It's a long wrap "sarong" skirt with tulip shape and edged ruffles all around and up the skirt side. Then the wrap bodice also edged ruffles that frame the neckline and down the WAY low cut bodice (you'll need to wear something under or add a snap or two at front), fitted waist and very pleated peplum with the balloon sleeves and huge ruffled cuffs.  This outfit weighs nothing... very lightweight fabric.  I assume it was worn with a belt or tie sash at waist, but nothing currently with it.  Near Mint condition!  Can't find anything wrong.  May have been a runway piece or model piece as the Oscar de la Renta label has Oriental writing on both pieces, along with a handwritten number. Measures:  34-37" bust (wrap), 26-28" waist (wrap), 41-45" long from waist to hem skirt. A very special Oscar de la Renta piece! I mean... 2-piece! :)

#5438 - c. 1950's MAURICE RENTNER ORIGINAL Black Silk Chiffon Party Dress with Ruffled Hemline!   Maurice Rentner died in 1958, and after that Bill Blass took over as head designer (so you would then see Bill Blass for Maurice Rentner labels).  So this dress has to be dated prior to 1958.  Black silk chiffon sleeveless dress with "Audrey" boatneck.  You can see the sexy black bustline under and the very fitted bodice over the very fully gathered "dancing" skirt decorated with silk "flowers" along the hemline.  Love the thin rope tie at waist!!  Labeled size 10, yeah sure! :)  It's more like a size 2 today.  The dress is in Very Good condition.... there are a few issues to mention.  There is one, that's ONE teeny pinhole (see photo) at the upper yoke.  She must have pinned something on the dress.  There is a light, hard to see "smudge" on one breast, and the silk flowers at the hemline are "wilted" and a bit "worn" at the edges.  They will perk up a bit with professional steaming. Metal zipper at the side. Measures: 33/34" bust, tight ribcage, 25" waist, 25" long from waist to hem.

#5490 - c. 1950's IRENE (Irene Lentz) Black Wool 2-piece Suit with Red Plaid "Patches"!  Hollywood costume designer! Irene Lentz left her position as Leading Costume Supervisor for MGM Studios in 1950 to start her own fashion house and most notably produced fabulous tailored women's suits!  Not really know for much whimsy in her suits, this one is quite interesting due to the placed "patchwork" plaid squares on both the jacket and skirt.  You gotta wonder if this suit might be from 1956-1959 when Li'l Abner was on Broadway, and then made into a film in 1959.  Those patches just seem to scream "Dogpatch, USA" to me! :)   I wish this suit was in perfect condition, but there are a few issues to note.  There are 3 self covered buttons missing from the jacket, otherwise the jacket is in Excellent condition, including the lining.  The skirt however has a moth hole in the back about the length of a fingernail, and the back seam has opened ...which would be a quick easy fix, but the material has pulled there as well (see photos).. so it will just have to be taken in a smidge at that seam to look nearly perfect there... so then it's only the moth hole that needs repair (which can be done by a professional re-weaver), and the fact that the skirt was hemmed up (but the extra material is still there). Measures:  35/36" bust, 27/28" waist, 24" long skirt, 20" long jacket, 6"+ hem in skirt.  A GREAT and FUN Irene suit!!

#5336 - c. 1970s PAULENE TRIGERE Red and Black Wool Maxidress!  Yeah, I suppose you could call this a gown and wear it to the ground as I show in the photos, but it was likely a maxidress length and worn with boots for those "rich hippie gals". :)  Please take a look at the close-up photos to see the incredible open weave wool fabric.  I don't know what it would be called, so just look please.  Then I don't have to spend hours trying to research it (or perhaps one of you fashion grads can help me out here?).  There is some interesting tailoring in this gown, so again... please look at the photos.  Wear with or without a belt. #5036 - c. 1970's TEAL TRAINA, New York Metallic Woven "Ethnic" Wool Bodice Gown with Matching Bolero and Original Belt!  I hate to even mention something like this, but this outfit would look just as great shortened to a dress length.  Please don't tell anyone I said this!!  Because it's totally blasphemous to say something like that about a vintage designer piece, and I would never be the one to take a needle and thread or scissor to any vintage piece.... but hey .... I'm just sayin'.  As you can see it's a elephant gray wool bodice dress with mock turtleneck and long sleeves, and wonderful metallic woven "ethnic" patterned gathered skirt with the original red belt with metallic braid detail and 4 drops.  This can be worn with or without the matching short bolero jacket which only closes with the gold braid frog at front. Back zipper.  Measures:  34/35" bust, 25/26" waist, 54" long from shoulder to hem, 15" from shoulder to waist.  Excellent condition with just one teeny tiny moth nip in the back collar (see photo). Love the back zipper that zips most all the way down, but then the bottom zips up for a small slit! This dress likely cost $2000+... and was selected for the ritzy Fashion Magazine editor character of "Ugly Betty"... so you KNOW it looks "rich".  Measures: 36/37" bust, up to 29" waist, up to 38" hips, 40" long from shoulder to hem.  Fully lined. #7327 - c. 1950's MR. BLACKWELL Custom Red Flocked Velvet on Satin Peplum Dress!  This was custom made for some woman with a Jayne Mansfield body! Measures: 38" bust, 27" waist, 35" hips!!!!!  Crazy!  I had to generously stuff the bust to even show it on the dressform.  Great dress, but has some issues.... some minor wear at the edges of material under the arms, and satin pulls/bruising at the back and someone had let out the seams at the upper sides (hard to believe she needed extra room in the bustline, and this was prior to implants mind you!!! :). Interestingly, it has TWO zippers at the back (that's only on the best pieces, of course!).  So... if you aren't built like this, you can certainly take this back in at the upper side seams for a more proportioned figure.

#7329 - c. 1950's H. Liebes, San Francisco Red Silk Chiffon Bubble Dress with Bubble Train!  I had never heard of H. Liebes department store in San Francisco... but I Google searched and found that they closed in 1970.  Too bad if they sold gems like this wonderful "Lady in Red" dress!!  Strapless red silk chiffon with empire waist and perfect red bow at front, and yards and yards of silk chiffon gathered to the bubble hem all the way around to the fabulous bubble hemmed trained back!  Check it out!!  The wind could pass right through the back.  You could probably jump out of a plane in this dress and use if for a parachute! :) :) :)  Sorry, it's late.  I get punchy.  Anyway, the dress Measures: 32/33" bust, 26" underbust (24" inner band),  33" long from top of middle bust to hem.  Metal zipper at side. Two bones at back bodice to keep this beauty up!  I want to say it's in Excellent condition as I thought it was when I got it, but in photographing I was thoroughly inspecting and found small pinholes at the upper front chiffon, and some spotting at the upper front chiffon at the other side of the front bow. Also the inner bones at back lining should be recovered at the ends. So... the price is going to be lower than it should be for this dress... even though you won't see the problems unless you are inspecting as they are totally hidden in the massive draping. But I'm very PICKY, damn it! :)

#5492 - c. 1930's Wedding Gown of White Lace Created from a c. 1905 era Gown!   Let me explain.   This was originally a c. 1905 white lace gown, which some seamstress back in the 1930s redesigned into a wedding gown!  So the lace is from 1905, the design is 1930s.  The white slip under is a white rayon and could be newer than the 30s, so this gown has quite a unique history.  I only wish I knew the exact provenance. This gown is in near mint condition.  There was one tiny repair found along the hemline (see photo), though you'd never see it if I didn't show you.  There are extremely minor lace legbreaks near the front yoke (easily fixed with a few stitches).  You can see that the "v" neckline was created by turning some of the lace under, so they gown would look especially nice with typical 1930s/1940s era rhinestone or other dressclips (or ornaments).  Has a so sweet little tiny white bow at front waist!!! CUTE!!  As you can see, the white rayon slip is shorter than the gown, so you get to see the lace detail.  Certainly if you prefer the slip match the length of the gown, you can add some additional material under. Side snap closure. Measures: 32/33" bust, up to 24" waist, up to 34" hips, 58" long from shoulder to hem in front, and 76" long in the back. NOTE: being a 1930s gown, these are usually hard to wiggle into due to the side openings, so just a note so you have bridesmaids ready and able!!   Also Listed in the Wedding Category.

#5052 - c. 1980's AKRIS of SWITZERLAND 4-piece Suit of Light Blue Fine Wool with Skirt, Coat and Silk Blouse with Separate Scarf!  Great label! "Akris was founded in 1922 but grew significantly in 1944 producing "high quality but undistinguished" clothing.  In 1980, Akris' new designer, Albert, became increasingly conscious of the quality of its design and is now "known for his creative flair and demand for uncompromising quality".  In 1995, Akris also introduced a somewhat less expensive, younger-looking line called Akris Punto.  In the 2000s, the company was one of the world's fastest-growing designer brands, becoming one of the top sellers at stores such as Bergdorf Goodman and Neiman Marcus."  OK, now reading this, you see that Akris Punto is the LOWER priced line... and if you look at the high prices of those pieces online, you will see what this likely cost new!!!  An Akris jacket alone costs $4,000 now!!!!! And a blouse like this would be $1,000+!  SO, that makes this likely an $8,000- $10,000 outfit new!  Lovely soft light blue wool skirt with matching open front coat and matching silk blouse with separate tie to wear however you like... I show as a bow. Angelina Jolie is one of the top stars to wear Akris today.  In wonderful condition with just a few minor tiny spots (see photos) and a bit of dirt along one coat cuffs (see photo).   I'm sure these can be cleaned up with just a spot clean, but I always leave it to the buyer (as I don't have time).  Shown on a size 6 mannequin with 35" bust, 26" waist, 36" hips, 21" long skirt.  More measurements coming. Terrific Spring outfit!! Or wear all the pieces with other separates... the gorgeous color will look fabulous with many pieces already in your closet, I am sure!  For the cost of one blouse, you get the whole outfit!

#5484 - c. late 1960's/early 1970's GEORGE HALLEY, New York Black Wool Dress With Low Back and Black Velvet Trim!  With Original Black Velvet Bolero!  This dress with original black silk velvet jacket came to me directly from George Halley himself! He is still designing for his friends, and through the years has kept some of his favorite pieces.  I was lucky enough to spend a bit of time with him... and can tell you, he is a lovely man! This is one of his "high-end" pieces... his slightly lower-end pieces had the "Claudia by George Halley" label.  This is not an itchy wool, but a fine quality mid-weight wool.... and yes, it's black.. the photos were lightened so you can see the details.  Empire waistline in front which lowers slightly in the open low back with two sweet bows! There is a wide band of black silk velvet around the portion of the skirt.  Frankly I like the dress best without the bolero jacket, but it comes with it, so hey! :) Measures: 35" bust, up to 27" empire waist (3.5" above natural waist), up to 40" hips, 40" long from shoulder to hem.  Excellent condition with just the most minor, light, small dusty spots and extremely small minor velvet crush (see last photo).  Oh, and if you don't know him George Halley was an American Designer who won the Coty Award in 1968.  Prior to starting his own line, he worked with Charles James!

#7261 - c. 1980's Silk Beaded Lavendar FABRICE Dress from GIORGIO, Beverly Hills Worn by Geena DavisYeah, OK... this dress came from the same collection as the verified Julianne Moore green sequined gown I'm also selling.  I was able to locate (thanks Joe!) the particular movie and photos of Julianne in that gown.  Sadly I have yet to find photos of Geena Davis in this dress, but I'm sure with enough time I will!  So, at this point, I'm selling this as a fabulous Fabrice dress with the only provenance provided by StarWares.  If you don't know Fabrice, "his sparkling evening wear symbolized the glamour of the 1980s, died at age 47.  Known professionally by simply Fabrice, he dressed actresses, models and socialites in show-stopping gowns that were elaborately beaded and jeweled. Among the notables who wore his gowns are Iman, Whitney Houston, Natalie Cole, Beverly Johnson, Ivana Trump, Shirley MacLaine, and Christie Brinkley.  In 1981 he won a special Coty Fashion Critics Award for his beaded dresses". This dress was sold at the prestigious Giorgio, Beverly Hills (I KNOW you've heard of THAT!).  Measures:  42" - 49" long from shoulder to varied length hem.  Labeled size Medium... stretches to fit, so impossible to measure.  Shown on a 35/25/36 mannequin so you can see how it fits her.  VERY VERY VERY low bustline, so you might want to shorten the straps.  Very good condition, as there are a few beads missing, and a couple light spots (one at hem front, the other front hip) and one perhaps make up larger spots on interior only (see photo).  Very clingy, sexy, and very 1980s! Selling at exactly the price you would have paid at StarWares! If I find a photo of Geena in this dress, watch out as the price might go up!   Also listed in the Memorabilia Category.

From the estate of a Long Island, New York socialite who often traveled to Paris to buy her wardrobe.  I even have one of her receipts to prove it.  She was a size 8, so most all of her pieces will fit you if you wear that same size 8.  Sadly one size too large for me.  She loved YSL, Ungaro, Givenchy, Dior, Ted Lapidus, and similar designers.  I have tons of her 1980s blouses (yet to photograph) and some of these great jackets and suits. Sort of a nehru collar. Great black buttons.  This is a cotton velvet from the classic YSL collections of the 1970s.  Excellent condition, though I see one tiny pen mark on the bodice. #5452 - c. 1980's ANN LAWRENCE Yellow Taffeta Beaded Butterfly Party Dress with Original One Cuffed Shawl!  I don't even know what to say about this shawl!!!  Never seen anything like it!  It's just a basic 80" x 24" flat matching yellow silk shawl to wrap around for drama... except that this has a beaded cuff attached to one side!!! So you wear the shawl as an open "sleeve" on one side and wrapped shawl on the other.  Certainly unique!!  The dress is so sweet!  Strapless fully beaded and sequined bodice with the dropped waist (for a great shape) and short yellow pouf skirt.  Then to top it all off, is the original 3-D butterfly attached. Excellent condition.  Now, just so you know what you are buying... I always try to find out what items might have cost when new... and found a plain, non-beaded (and not very attractive) 1980's Ann Lawrence dress listed elsewhere with the original Neiman Marcus tags still on.... with the original price of $790 !! SO, gals... this dress with matching shawl and beading would have easily cost twice that at at least $1,500 new!!  And these are 1980 prices, so that would be over $3,000 today!!!  Now... So... do yourself a favor and buy the pieces with character, design, and fine workmanship.  Check this piece out.  Wouldn't Chanel love it?  That large "C" gold studded zipper pull at front! :)  Great original gold buttons as well on front and sleeves and gold metal zipper.  Measures: up to 40" bust, up to 34" waist, up to 40" hips, 25" long from shoulder to hem. Sleeves are the right length on me, but I'm 5'2", so they might be a bit short for you tall gals. Fully lined. Has shoulderpads, of course, as it's from the 1980s!

#4252 - c. 1989 PATRICIA RHODES Soft Brown Wool Jersey Knit Dress with "Obi"!  Never Worn!  With Original Price Tag of $1,160 Remember now, this was the price in 1989... so that means (according to the inflation calculator) just over $2,000 in today's dollars! I wish you could see this "obi" or wide stiff cummerbund in person.  I can't tell you what the shiny paisley material is... very very different... with some soutache appliqued over.  Unique to say the least. Sexy low cut "v" neckline! Substantial dress.  Measures: up to 40" bust, up to 33" waist, up to 41" hips, 41" long from shoulder to hem.  Labeled size 12 which seems about right.  Shoulderpads, of course, as it's from the 1980s! #7000 - c. 1970's ANNE KLEIN Black "Corset" Jacket!  Pretty "edgy" for Anne Klein, eh?  But way cool!  As you see, there is corseting at the front and the back. I'll wait while you look at the photos of the back so you can see the corseting there as well! These are corseted with thin black velvet ribbon, and I'm not sure it this was original,... it might have been cording.  Don't know. If there are any Anne Klein experts out there.... lemme know.  Unless you are buying this for a museum, you really don't care, do you??  You just want to wear it and have me shut up about it.  OK, OK... I'll zip it (get it?  Zip it? HA!).

#7273 - c. 1970's BOB MACKIE /RAY AGHAYAN Black  "Fortuny" Pleat Dress with Ostrich Feather Hemline! From Bonwit TellerRARE DEADSTOCK!  I'm always on the lookout for these Bob Mackie / Ray Aghayan pieces as they were only made for a few years in the late 1970s. As the history goes, as early as 1969, Bob Mackie and partners Ray Aghayan and Elizabeth Courtney established their Beverly Hills boutique, Elizabeth the First, which in turn spawned the short-lived wholesale firm Ray Aghayan/Bob Mackie (You SHOULD know Ray Aghayan, so Google him! He  was Judy Garland's designer as well as many other stars, and was responsible for Mackie's career).  Anyway, even if this dress didn't have that special label, I'd still be nuts about it! Perfect for your Black & White party, or any event where you want to have fun.  The entire dress is designed of Fortuny-like pleating with spaghetti straps and waist tie... and then ostrich feathers surrounding the entire hemline!  Sold at the high-end department store, Bonwit Teller.  As you can see, it's Deadstock!  Never Worn!  With Original Tags!  So rare!  Perfect condition! Measures: 33/34" bust, 25" waist, 39" long from shoulder to hem. Worthy of a museum.

#5456 - c. 1940's "Adrian" Look Wool Striped Jacket!  Nope... there is no Adrian label, but there is no label at all in this 1940's jacket.  AND it came from the collectors who had other Hollywood memorabilia pieces (Ginger Rogers, Irene Dunn, etc). But I can't prove anything, so it's just being sold as a "Gilbert Adrian look" jacket. If you know his work, you will know that he often worked with stripes and running materials in opposite directions for contrast.  OK....so now I have to tell you that it's not perfect either.  There are some small moth holes (see photos)and a slight tear in upper lining (see photo).  Wide shoulderpads, patch flap faux pockets at front.  Nipped in waist.  So, if you love it, take it to a invisible weaver to fix those two of the visible mothholes in the sleeve, and enjoy!! Measures: up to 38" bust, up to 31" waist, up to 38" hips, 27" long from shoulder to hem. Lined in a persimmon satin.

Love the zipper at back that doesn't open all the way to the top!  As you can see...print dresses have the print different locations on the dress, and frankly, I like this one better than the one worn by Kristin Davis.  Can be worn with or without a belt (none comes with it, but just will change the look slightly).   Wear with a little cardigan sweater to look very vintage 50's.   Also Listed in the Memorabilia Section.

Wonderful summer dress on its own (hey the SATC costumer stylist, Patricia Field is no dummy... she knows a great dress when she sees it!)  Tank top bodice with box pleated skirt designed from a terrific botanical checkerboard printed linen.  Labeled size 4 but measures up to 37" bust, up to 28" waist, 25" long from waist to hem, so must have been mis-labeled as it's more like a size 8.  Excellent condition, like new. Look just like Kristin Davis or Charlotte! Can be worn with or without a belt (none comes with it, but just will change the look slightly).   Wear with a little cardigan sweater to look very vintage 50's.  Another website shows this dress worn on the show with the caption, "Charlotte greets the day in a sunny botanical checkerboard shift dress by New York-based design duo David Gregory and a peach handbag by Charles Jourdan."     Also Listed in the Memorabilia Section.

#6734 - c. 1990's DONNA KARAN by MAEVE CARR Gray Cashmere/Wool Bare Shoulder Gown Previously Owned and Worn by BARBRA STREISAND!  I haven't seen any other Donna Karan / Maeve Carr pieces... except if you Google search you will see another sold at the Barbra Streisand Julien's auction, so obviously Babs (being the Karan devotee she is) wore some of these rare pieces. I know I should have put this on the mannequin with arms, but she is a pain in the neck to set up, so please just image arms in those dangling sleeves! :)  Glorious fine cashmere/wool blend gown with turtleneck, bare shoulders, low slung waistline and massive exquisitely draped skirt! AND with internal bodysuit!!  Not in perfect condition as there are two small moth holes at mid-side skirt and larger one under hem (not seen except in my photos). This kind of knit can be invisibly mended to make this look nearly perfect.  Back invisible zipper. Measures:  60" long from shoulder to hem in front and 65" long on sides.. yes, this is one of those gowns with sides longer than front and back to give that sweep and still let you walk!  Nearly impossible to measure otherwise, as it stretches, but it's about a size 4/6.  Comes with a COA from StarWares. Gorgeous low scoop neckline, slightly puffed shoulders, black satin trim at cuffs and separate belt at empire waistline.  Love it!  Excellent condition.  I will be getting this piece dry-cleaned just prior to selling as it's been in storage for many, many years so she's just asking me for a "freshening". #5429 - c. 1950's HERBERT SONDHEIM Navy All Silk Fringe Dress! Yup, for those of you who don't know, Herbert Sondheim was the father of Broadway's Stephen Sondheim!  You'd hope that talent could be spread to some other families as well... but sadly, it wasn't spread to mine.... so the best I can do is offer you the talents of others! :)   I adore these all fringe dresses. Not the newer, cheap ones that you will find as flapper costumes, but the high quality silk pieces like this!  Love the unique "u" neck band and the open sides (so you can see more of your shape).  And under the fringe, you will see bands of matching navy satin just for a bit of extra shine and allure.   Wish you could see this thing move! It's fabulous on.  Excellent condition with just a few minor fringes missing... but you're not going to stand still long enough to care.  There is a small area at front that has a bit of fringe missing.  If you really care you can move a bit of fringe from the side. #7156 - c. 1969/1970 BILL TICE Royal Robes Metallic Hostess Gown! 1974 COTY AWARD Winner for Lingerie/Loungewear!  Bill Tice got a start in the mid-1960's, and by 1969, he was a vice president of Royal Robes! He also designed for Malcolm Starr and Swirl, a company that produced many of his most popular designs. The hallmark of his approach was to use rich colors and silks, giving at-home wear a less casual look, and of all the Bill Tice pieces I've seen, this tops them all!! Exquisite metallic brown and gold plaid trimmed in gold braid at the "v" neckline and zips up the front (as any good hostess gown does)... and frankly it's the only way you would know this to be "loungewear" rather than a formal evening gown! Even has the little touch of "bling" rhinestones! Cuffed sleeves. Excellent condition. Measures: up to 39" bust, up to 30" waist, 17" long from shoulder to waist (slightly longwaisted), 58" long from shoulder to hem. Just an awesome piece for the Bill Tice collectors out there (and I know you exist!)!  This is probably one of his very early pieces as geo-prints and metallics are all over the pages of Vogue in 68/69. #6987 - RARE c. 1940/1941 CEIL CHAPMAN "A Chapman Original" Ivory Chiffon Evening Gown! You know Ceil Chapman, right? Dressmaker popular with the 1950s Hollywood elite, and noted as a favorite by Marilyn Monroe, Elizabeth Taylor, and Deborah Kerr, etc., etc.  Well, the earliest Ceil Chapman pieces have the "Ceil Chapman Original" label... and this one includes the US Patent Application, so it's gotta be one of the earliest!!  I've only had three of these early Ceil Chapman Original gowns... they aren't easy to find... and of all, this is the nicest! This silk chiffon gown has a ruched bodice, and is embellished in pearl white bugle beads that adorn the bodice, straps and create a wide waistband design. The skirt is flowing and will glide as you walk! Lined in silk, has side metal zipper. There are minor condition issues.. two tiny spots inside the draping at the upper skirt (see photo), beads are mostly all intact (a few missing on one strap see photo), and a bit of messiness at back zipper near waist (see photo). The only issue that is of any consequence to the picky, is that there is a shadow spot on one side of the bust (see photo).  It will only be seen under bright lights.  But all in all, this is in remarkable condition for a light colored, chiffon gown! And a VERY RARE Ceil Chapman! Measures: 32" bust, 26" waist. NEW LISTING!   Also Listed in the Wedding Category.

#6736 - c. 1980's NAEEM KHAN, RIAZEE Couture Fully Beaded and Embroidered Evening Jacket! Here's the quick write up on Naeem Khan:  "Socialites and some of the world’s most fashionable women (including Beyonce Knowles, Carrie Underwood, Eva Longoria, Brooke Shields, and First Lady Michelle Obama) are devotees to this name in fashion: Naeem Khan... launched in 2003 and sold at Saks Fifth Avenue, Bergdorf Goodman and Neiman Marcus as well at 40 specialty stores across the country".   The history reads: "Khan was born in 1958 in India and cultivated his knowledge of textiles growing-up on the watchful eyes of his grandfather and father, both well known in India for designing the intricate clothing worn by royal families and other wealthy notables. Naeem Khan gowns - often embellished with beads so delicate that a surgical needle is necessary to attach them – are recognizable through flourishes and other specialty treatments that are distinctive to the label."  OK, now you know about Khan today, but prior to all this... In the late 70's, Khan worked for Halston for three years and then 1981, Khan started the Riazee collection which flourished for 14 years.  Got it all?   Now, many of the Riazee gowns scream 1980s cheeze and are NOT this high-end COUTURE label.  You HAVE to check the detailing of the silk embroidery, all on a black sequin base on silk, with the "animal" print trim designed in bugle beads.  Excellent condition! Closes with snaps at front or wear open.  Measures:  35" bust, up to 29" waist, up to 37" hips, 25" long from shoulder to hem.  One pair of black pants and black tank top or t-shirt and this!  All you need!!!  A WORK of ART! IF only I had a moving picture of this dress in action that you could see on the website.  Wouldn't THAT be awesome.  But it's a bit above my technical know-how, so just try to imagine this total shimmy shakin' dress a shakin'.   There are many newer very cheaply made versions of this kind of dress, but this is high-quality, heavy fringe on a substantial underdress. The color is actually ecru but in order to show all the detail it was lightened.  Eight tiers of silk fringe front and back. Measures:  34/35" bust, 25" waist, up to 37" hips, 42" long from shoulder to hem.  Original tags from Foley's was $160 in the 60s!!  Back metal zipper. OK.. now for the bad news.... something about this fabric seems to create brown blotch marks on the underdress... I had another item of similar fabric with the same problem.   I don't know what happened over the years, but it's only seen on the underdress... however, if you are movin' and a-shakin' you may be seeing some of the underdress, so... this piece is best for slight movin' and/or collection/display.  If you are a master at cleaning (which I am not), lucky you! :)   NEW LISTING!

#7294 - c. 1960's MAINBOCHER Suit! 3 Pieces!  Linen Blend Suit with Matching Original Beaded Blouse!  Mainbocher dressed some of the world's most famous women, including the ultimate... designing Wallis Simpson's wedding dress and trousseau for her 1937 marriage to the former Edward VIII (the Duke of Windsor).  He continued to design much of the Duchess of Windsor's wardrobe, naming a color, Wallis blue, for her, and created the first strapless evening gown. In 1929/30, he established his own fashion house, becoming the only American to successfully run a couture house in Paris!  He designed expensive, elegant haute couture dresses and gowns for an exclusive clientele, and incredibly charging them for the privilege of viewing his collections!  In 1939, he relocated his business to New York and continued to design for generations of discerning women of means, including Gloria Vanderbilt who was one of the wealthiest women in the world at that time. He also designed for Broadway.  Only the wealthy could afford to own Mainbocher's understated elegence. And now, that includes YOU!  Wonderful 3-piece suit!  I guess I have to call it a light maize color.  LOVE that double notched collar!! Doublebreasted with mother-of-pearl large buttons, 3/4 length sleeves, simple skirt.  Now, I'm showing with the blouse peeking out from under, but you can tuck it in.  Just want you to see that there is a terrific beaded original matching blouse included!  See photos. There are some very light marks on the skirt area... a couple look like pencil marks, and dirt along the hemline.  I haven't tried dry-cleaning, but they are only important is someone is staring at your lower half, and why would they with such a beautiful bodice? #5197 - c. 1980's BOB MACKIE Nude Net Gown of Sequins and Beads! Cotton Pique Dress! OK... if you're a fan of my website, you know I love these early Bob Mackie gowns... you know the ones that were designed for the mass market by just taking the original nude net "Cher" Mackie gowns, and adding a nude lining which allows it to look like something Cher would really have worn!  Mr. Mackie then branched out into beads and sequins on silk, but it's these early net gowns that are the best!  This one is of a rare design I haven't seen before.  Pinkish hue with the extra large pink flower sequined on to one shoulder and then bits of that flower elsewhere scattered about the gown.  As you can see, the gown has the illusion of a nude bodice (yet it's lined), however the upper back remains net only.  There is a very long slit up the front of the gown for mega leg reveal!  Excellent condition... however, this gown has been modified under the arms for extra size in the bust, so it now Measures: up to 40" bust, up to 30" waist, up to 40" hips, 58" long from shoulder to hem. Look at all the closeup photos to see all the details! Zippered cuffs, back zip gown to waist and just the extended back hook/eye at upper back.  If you don't need the extra sizing, you can just remove the extended closure strap. #5441A - c. early 1950's ORIGINALA Black Wool Swing Coat Trimmed in Sheared Black Beaver Fur!  Sold at the Prestigious Julius Garfinckel & Co, Washington DC! You really should look through old Vogue and Harpers Bazaar magazines to know just how expensive these Originala coats were!  Here's the info from my favorite (other than my own, of course!) website, the Vintage Fashion Guild Label Resource: "Originala was one of the better suit and coat houses in New York. Through the years, several well known designers worked at Originala: Marc Bohen (who went on to design at Dior) was there in 1958, Ilie Wacs was the head designer from 1964 through 1972, and Louis Dell’Olio worked there from 1971 through 1974. It was one of the most expensive coat lines made at the time. In the late 1960s, the coats averaged about $500".  As you can see, this is a true swing coat with sleeves that are nearly "cape" length.  High sheared beaver collar can be worn up as you see, or down.   Slash pockets.  Braided buttons.   Fully lined.  Excellent condition except for the fact that the buttons could use replacing or fixing.  They've been pulled out so they are too loose and askew. Not a huge deal, but rather than me fixing, best for you to fix where you want them.  Fur is in very good condition.   No other problems I can find.  This will fit just about any size, but best for smaller shouldered gals.  All depends what you wear under.  If you love swing coats (and who doesn't!), can't get much better.  A heavy coat.... like they used to make! Measures:  39" long from shoulder to hem. NEW LISTING! Also Listed in the Furs, etc. Section.

#5443A - c. late 1940's Lenari Designed, New York Black "New Look" Plush Fancy Coat! I wish I knew the name of this great fabric.  It's probably a wool and mohair blend with an incredible sheen. Very similar to the "Imported from France" fabrics used for the Lilli Ann Coats of the same era. VERY well made.  VERY high quality!!  Near Mint condition!  Fabulous black braided trim double collar to wear up or down, and faceted jet black square buttons.  Wide "circle" skirt with wide balloon-type sleeves with tighter cuffs (so you can push them up your arm a bit if you like).    This coat would look terrific with a belt as well.  This is what you can't find today in the stores.  QUALITY!  I can't stress that enough!  Am I using enough exclamation points?? Pockets at sides. Measures:  up to 39" bust, up to 33" waist, 43" long from shoulder to hem.   NEW LISTING! Also Listed in the Furs, etc. Section.

#5443C - c. early 1950's TRIGERE, New York, Bergdorf Goodman On the Plaza, New York  Pauline Trigere Muted Plaid Wool Cape with High Collar Back! Can't really call this a hooded cape unless you have a pea head! :)  I just raised the back of the collar as you can see how high it goes... like an Edwardian collar!  Lovely almost muted red, green and white plaid wool.  Closes with a short tie at front neck and a couple of fur-type hooks.  The arms go through the holes, but the holes also have button tabs to close if you just decide to toss this over your shoulders.  The inside lining is a green wool to help keep you toasty.  The condition of the exterior is Excellent.  The moths, however, got to the green lining (see photos).  Luckily they didn't like the taste of the plaid! And the hooks at front would need to be re-stitched in place. A nice early piece of Trigere.  Her version of "Little Red Riding Hood"... oh, and certainly Pauline Trigere's checked coat/cape was special enough to be used for Patricia Neal's character in the classic movie, "Breakfast at Tiffany's".  NEW LISTING!  Also Listed in the Furs, etc. Section.

#10003 - c. 1970's JOHN BATES DESIGNS for AUSTIN GARRITT, London Brown Calf Suede and Fancy Leather Blouse/Jacket!  I guess first I should mention that John Bates is the designer or the fabulous 1960s label, "Jean Varon". Highlights include: 1) There are those who consider Bates as the true inventor of the miniskirt rather than Mary Quant or Andre Courreges. 2) In 1965, one of his dresses with a mesh midriff was chosen as the "Dress of the Year" and donated to the Fashion Museum  in Bath, UK, which in 2006 held a major retrospective show of his work. 3) In 1965, Bates designed memorable outfits for Diana Rigg to wear for her role as Emma Peel in the TV show, The Avengers (whoo whoo)!  Oh, and AUSTIN GARRITT was a suede & leather company in London.  OK?  So now to this piece. Perfectly back in style!  Wear with the belt tie or without. Wear open as a jacket, or closed as a blouse. The sleeves and the large 70s collar are what makes this piece so special! Punched leather tooled with a very expensive look! Check out the close-up photos so you can see.   Measures: up to 34" bust, up to 31" waist (cinch with matching tie belt), up to 39" hips, 25" long from shoulder to hem. Excellent condition with just very minor suede bruising to give it a bit of age (see last two photos).  Oh, and the leather collar needs a pressing on one side... yeah, I know... I'm knitpicky!  NEW LISTING!

#7066 - c. 1953 CHRISTIAN DIOR, Paris White Bengaline Black Label Dress!  Ah, a TRUE Dior dress... designed when it was still Christian Dior designing for his own label (until 1958). Just the kind of dress you would expect to be worn by the Hollywood elite... Grace Kelly or a very young Audrey Hepburn.  As simple as you can find, and as beautiful as you can find!  Sleeveless white cotton bengaline dress with deep "V" neck front.  Front center seam ending in a large bow midway down skirt. Deep inverted black pleat.  Lovely back shoulder straps. Back metal zipper. Measures:  32" bust, 25" waist, 40" long from shoulder to hem. Near Mint condition (for a white dress it's incredible!).  It was shortened, but wasn't cut so there is up to 4" hem and can be let back down as there are no marks for the proper "ballerina" skirt length of 1953.   There is the smallest light spot of the skirt front, but again, for a white dress, you won't find better condition. #5436 - RARE c. 1950's TRAINA NORELL, New York from Julius Garfinklel & Co, Washington DC, Black Lace Hoop Skirt Dress with Black Satin Waistband!  Do you want the good news or the bad news first?  The back news is that I can't find anything comparable to give you an absolute dating of this dress. The good news is that I can't find anything comparable at all!! That means this is as unique as I think it is!!  Really.  This is certainly worthy of a museum collection.  A simple bones strapless black silk charmeuse sheath dress ... of the finest silk with double side zipper. Over that is the incredible black lace dress with the inset oval shaped hoop!!  The black satin wide waistband is attached and has a lovely sharp sunburst / sunflower design at back.  As least I'm assuming I have this on the correct way... hard to tell, the front and back look so similar other than that waist design element.  I was told that this dress was $400 when new.....back in the 1950s so that's $3,000+ now. Measures:  up to 33/34" bust, up to 25" waist, up to 37" hips.  Excellent condition, especially being such a difficult dress to store for over 50 years... however, there are about 9 small lace breaks mostly on the shoulder and underarms (see photos for examples.  As I said, they are small and can be repaired by a professional).  Lace overdress closes with buttons at the side (see photo).  Absolutely the MOST fabulous 1950s black lace dress....ever!  NEW LISTING!  Also Listed in the Museum Category.

#7285 - c. Fall, 2008 TEMPERLEY, London Raspberry Red Silk Blend Evening Gown!  This is The gown worn on the runway (as you see at left) at the Oxford Red Dress Couture Ball in Oxford, England on June 18th, 2010.  The gown was donated to the auction by the Temperley London design house. Proceeds from the auction benefited H.E.L.P. Malawi (dedicated to making a difference in the lives of vulnerable children living with the devastating consequences of HIV/AIDS) and Teach A Man To Fish (international organization designed to improve the relevancy, quality, and availability of education for children in developing countries). As you will see, this item (in the shorter dress version) was worn by Christy Turlington at Bono's (Red) Auction at Sotheby's, New York on Valentine's Day, 2008 to raise money to fight AIDS in Africa. UK TV presenter Kirsty Gallagher wore the same dress at the 2008 National Television Awards at The Royal Albert Hall in London.  This gown would have sold for $5,000 - $8,000 new.  This is NOT the "Alice" lower priced line, but the top of the line runway piece. Impossible to find! Measures:  up to 32 (nearly 33"), up to 27" waist, up to 37" hips(probably best for up to 36"), 50" long from WAIST to hem in front (yes, waist to hem!) and 60" waist to hem in trained back.  Best for a very tall gal, unless you have an excellent seamstress to hem up.  Note: I really hate most new pieces as I find they are poorly made and/or of lousy materials.  This shuts me up.  Totally! Exquisite! Feels and looks incredible on! Oh, and weighs an amazing 4 pounds... just from the massive amount of silk!  NEW LISTING!

#5437 - c. 1950's EDWARD ABBOTT Wilson Folmar Black Crepe Dress With Draped Skirt and Dangling Jet Beads!  Quite a good label in the 1950s, early 1960s. My favorite research website, Vintage Label Resource states: "Wilson Folmar was the head designer of the custom department at exclusive department store Jay Thorpe from 1936 – 1956. He also designed for Ben Gam and Maurice Rentner in the 1950s, and in 1957, became the designer for Edward Abbott. In 1964, he formed his own company, Wilson Folmar, Inc., which produced a line of medium to high priced cocktail and evening clothes. So that dates this gown absolutely to 1957-1963.  Classic shape.  Very Grace Kelly!  Black thin crepe fully lined dress with weighted hem (!), back metal zipper, with simple fitted bodice and gorgeous draped skirt ending with double layered black jet beaded drop flops! Tiny thin double spaghetti straps. Elegant!  Excellent condition.  Measures: 34" bust (best with smaller back and larger cup), 25/26" waist (inner band is 25", but you don't need to use that) and possibly ever so slightly short-waisted, up to 38" hips, 51" long from shoulder to hem, 35.5" from waist to hem.  Not meant to be worn to the ground...but to show your anklestrap shoes!  NEW LISTING!

#6784 - c. 1970's Bonwit Teller "GALANOS" Museum Deaccessioned High Quality Silk Paisley Gown with Matching Overdress!  Wow, just a few hours up on the website and I have the answer as to the designer of these gowns!  Galanos!  No surprise... I knew from the fabric and construction alone that it was some high-end designer! I'm showing the photo of a similar Galanos gown with a label found to confirm. However, on this set, only the Bonwit Teller label remains on the long-sleeved gown.  This gown and the overdress both have museum tags, and came as a "set".  I wish I could explain this, but I can't!  I'm assuming this was two hostess gowns.  The gown itself has a very high round neckline, long sleeves, pockets at the sides, and a slit up the side, lined in the expensive sheer gauze, and bound seams.  However, then there is a matching low-necked, spaghetti strapped gown totally cut up the sides with just three small frog closures at side, so it basically just hangs off the shoulders as an open long tunic.  Someone suggested that the overdress was worn OVER the other gown, but if so, you can't see it at all as it totally blends with the other, AND it covers the pockets, so that can't be correct.  I have to assume that this overdress tunic was worn with hostess pants under (either flowing or tight cigarette.... either would be great).  So I guess this is just two hostess gowns.  Measures:  35" bust, up to 30" waist, up to 37" hips, 57" long from shoulder to hem.  Back zipper.  The overdress will fit just about anyone! I show one photo with a belt... doesn't come with it... just to show you what it might look like.  NEW LISTING!

Take a simple black silk tank sheathe gown, cover the entire thing in black sequins, and then (as if that's not enough) you string teeny-tiny black round beads into fringe, and place in a zig-zag pattern on front and back!  These dresses and gowns were very popular in the 1960s.  You can just imagine Marilyn Monroe wiggling in her black stilettos across a stage in this kind of number! :) Back metal zipper. Measures: up to 39" bust, up to 33" waist, up to 42" hips, 51" long from shoulder to hem (not necessarily meant to be worn to ground.. you should be showing off your fancy heels! :)  Fully lined in silk.  Weighs over 4 pounds!!!!!!!!  You won't have to life weights on the days you wear this gown! :)   Very good to excellent condition. There is minor sequin/bead loss, but you will have to look carefully... and who is going to do that with all this dazzle going on!  I only wish you could see this move.  Back slit to help you walk.  NEW LISTING!

#15002 - c. mid-1960's BOB BUGNAND for Sam Friedlander Black Patterned "Babydoll" Empire Dress with Jet Drop Beaded Peplum and Satin Trim!  I gotta admit, Bob Bugnand should be more of a household name.  Damn pretty pieces!  After 1962, Bob Bugnand collaborated with manufacturer Sam Friedlander to create this label, which combined high-end couture trims with high-end RTW (that's "ready-to-wear") pieces that sold for $90 – $375 ($650 - $2,700 in today's dollar). Still not cheap!  This dress looks like a sweet simple basic low-necked tank sheathe dress (but as you'll see from the photos, it's really a very high-waisted skirt with attached bodice!) in a great patterned black fairly heavy silk, with an empire waist with black satin ribbon and bow at front.  AND then that fabulous short peplum trimmed with dangling jet drop beads all around the dress!  Back zipper. #6783 - c. August, 1971 MOLLIE PARNIS BOUTIQUE, New York from Bergdorf Goodman With Original Owner's Name James D. Timmons!  I have to assume that the original owner was Mrs. Timmons, but hey, who knows... can you just imagine the looks on the faces of the sales ladies from Bergdorf in the 1970s if they had a crossdresser in their dressing room!  Oh lordy-lord! :)  So, let's just assume it was the little Mrs. instead.  This dress is in terrific condition... looks like perhaps only worn once.  Black netting fully embroidered with "deco" design of silvery/white floss then studded with silver round and square metal studs, all over a black underdress - everywhere but the sleeves.  Sweet little matching "belt" attached and tiny high collar.  Certainly a dress that evokes the era!  And I just LOVE when they have the exact dates (Thank you Bergdorfs!) for the fashion history lesson alone.  Measures: 34/35" bust, up to 25" waist, 46" long from shoulder to hem. Back nylon zipper. I could practically call it mint condition, though there is minor dirt (ring around the collar) inside the neck. NEW LISTING!

#6738 - c. 1960's MR. WINN, California, by Teddi Mod Ivory White "Go Go" Fishnet Tent Dress with Satin Trim! Think Goldie Hawn in "Laugh-in"!  Damn this is SOOOO cool!  For those of you who need pristine, I have to say there are a few issues that might bug you on this dress (the fishnetting is a bit sloppy at the back seam (the tailoring isn't pristine), and someone sewed the bust a bit tighter under the arms).  Also the heavy cotton knit fishnet pressed pattern shows in the satin trim at hem. This wasn't a high-end dress, but not cheap either. Just the greatest look! :) Just know, that as you are swinging as you walk, people will stare, but not at any minor faults, but rather at the fabulous dress and how groovy you look in it!! Full rolled over satin neckline. Back zipper with snaps over.  Silky rayon crepe ivory underdress.  Measures: up to 36" bust, up to 35" waist, up to 37" hips, 36" long from shoulder to hem.  If you love this, and you are larger, you can always increase the size of the underdress! #3446 - c. 1960's TRAINA, New York Black Silk Dinner Dress with Rhinestone Buttons!  Sold at Balliet's, Oklahoma City! Larger Size! Sadly, I'm showing this dress on my size 6 mannequin so it's clipped at back and it's not showing the dress to its best advantage.  This is the kind of dress for a true "lady".  Fine materials, wonderful tailoring, interesting sexy neckline, cuffed sleeves, four rhinestone buttons for ornament at front. Excellent condition!  Measures: 41" bust, up to 35" waist, up to 44" hips.  Plastic zipper at  back which dates it into the 1960s.  Wish I could give you a history lesson on this Traina label, but it gets very confusing with Traina Norell, A. Traina, and Teal Traina. To make it even more confusing, Traina also was a partner with Malcolm Starr in Gino Charles!  Can't these designers just stay put with one label???  I can't know everything! :)  All you have to know is this is a great dress in a larger size than the normal vintage size 0's. :)  NEW LISTING!

#5326 - c. 1967/68 CASTILLO Boutique, Paris Execute Par Mendes Yellow Lace "Tent" Dress!  From 1950 to 1963, Antonio Canovas Del Castillo was the designer of the Lanvin women's collection. After that, from 1964 to 1969, Castillo headed his own couture house in Paris. In 1971, Antonio Castillo won the Academy Award in costume design for the film Nicholas and Alexandra (one of my all time favorites!) He also designed costumes for the Metropolitan Opera and Broadway shows.  This dress came to me from the estate of clothing which includes YSL and many other high-end designers.  This is what the rich girls were wearing in the 1960s!  The rest of us were still shopping at E.J.Korvettes! :)   Yellow lace tent dress over a yellow silk lining. As simple as you can get, but remember how "mod" and wonderful this would have looked on those mod-haired girls of the era!  She could have worn it with simple Vivier shoes, or gone wild with white vinyl boots!  Might also have been worn with a chain belt (yup, I remember my first "grown up dress" in 1968 very similar to this worn with that hiphuggin' chain belt).  Excellent condition with just one small spot on back of one sleeve likely cleanable.  Back zipper.  Measures: The underdress (slip) measures: 37" bust, up to 38" waist, up to 40" hips... however, I'm 34" bust, and 38" hips, and it feels like it shouldn't go much higher than that, perhaps 35" bust and really I'd stick with up to 38" hips so you can sit.  3/4 length sleeves.  The shoulders measure about 16" across, the upper back about 15" across, and the length from shoulder to hem is 39".  It's really more adorable on me than on the mannequin (and that NEVER happens!!!).  NEW LISTING!

#6787 - RARE c. 1960's BOB BUGNAND, New York Haute Couture Lame Beaded Dress with Matching Coat! Museum Quality! Best Bugnand Seen in or out of a Museum! Bob Bugnand was born in France and worked as chief designer for Jacques Heim and Robert Piquet. As the story goes, in 1957, after realizing many of his clients were wealthy Americans, he opened his couture salon in New York City providing custom couture Parisian tailored fashions for the wealthiest women including the Duchess of Windsor, Mrs. Elizabeth Parke Firestone, Mrs. Lyn Revson (Revlon), socialite and philanthropist Mrs. Samuel Peabody and Jacqueline Kennedy. His fashions are extremely rich and dramatic, often including fine embroidery and beadwork on fairly simple silhouettes. Clients would pay $300 – $1000 in 1957 ($2,300 - $7,500 in today's dollars) for his couture creations. In 1970, Mrs. Firestone wrote a letter to a her friend in Paris stating "Bob Bugnand, who is in New York now entirely and makes only for a very few people, does all my work."  After 1962, you will find many more "Bob Bugnand for Sam Friedlander" labeled RTW pieces that sold for $90 – $375 ($650 - $2,700 in today's dollar). You will see a simple Bugnand pieces donated to the Metropolitan Museum (MET) Costume Institute (search online). And it's this simple black "Bob Bugnand, New York" couture label you want! This two-piece outfit of a phenomenal gold/turquoise lame material for both dress and matching coat, and the extraordinary Indian influenced turquoise drops, rhinestones, sequins and gold beaded "necklace" at the neckline of the dress, I'm sure this would have sold on the highest end! Tent shaped dress Measures: 36" bust, up to 38" waist, up to 42" hips, 38" long from shoulder to hem.  Coat is meant to be worn open over. Fully lined in satin. #5406 - c. 1960's Gold Fringe Beaded "Shimmy" Dress!  All I can think of when I see a dress like this is Ann Margaret.  I know some of you are too young to remember just how sexy she was, but she didn't have to do anything but stand there and shake what god gave her.  So, if you want to channel your inner "sex bomb", you just need a little help... and this will do the trick!  Measures:  36" bust, up to 32" waist, up to 37" hips, 36" long from shoulder to hem.   Condition is terrific, with just a few minor beads gone from the shoulders (seems a bit sparse there, but I think there are only a very few beads missing).  The only real issue is that the back metal zipper is off the track and should be replaced.  I have a tailor who will do it for $20, but rather than decide what you want, I thought it best to wait for the buyer to decide if you'd prefer to replace with another metal zipper, or rather with a more invisible newer zipper.  Your choice.   And either I can get my tailor to do it, or you can... especially if you are planning any tailoring anyway.  SO.....  it's priced with the new zipper.... and if you'd rather do it yourself, you can save the $20 which will be knocked off the price. Without a label I can only justify the price for the beauty, quality and condition... but if you are lucky and can find out the original designer, you win! :)  Especially if it WAS $1100 new in the 80s!! #7144 - RARE August, 1991 LEONARD, Paris COUTURE "IVANA" Silk Print Runway Dress with Matching Cape and Multicolored Tulle!  When I bought this dress and thought it was something extremely special. It has the name "Ivana" written on the label, and I knew Ivana Trump was a fan of Leonard fashions.  So, I researched and voila, I found this article from August 9, 1991 New York Times:   "Ivana Trump, seen wearing Leonard clothes at the recent couture showings in Paris, has stirred talk that she may be contemplating a business endeavor with the line's designer, Daniel Tribouillard.  She wore a fireworks-print silk chemise by Leonard to the Chanel show.  'She likes Leonard clothes, and she's been talking to Daniel Tribouillard about doing something.' said Joan Arkin, director of the Leonard collection in the United States.  Leonard, a Paris company with an office in New York, makes luxurious, and of course expensive, clothes. Mr. Tribouillard has designed a special "Ivana" dress to be shown on the runway in New York at the recent Leonard resort show.  Ivana wanna-be's (has a certain ring to it, no?) can find Leonard clothes at Bergdorf Goodman." So I can almost guarantee that this is THE Ivana runway dress (though I'd love to find a photo of that show).  The printed silk dress comes with matching cape which can be worn as a cape, or around the waist (as I show) for extra volume to the skirt.  And oh my, look at the fabulous multicolored tulle under the skirt to create that incredible pouf! So full, the dress stands up on it's own (see photo!). Measures:  32/33" bust, 25" waist, 20" long from waist to hem.  Near Mint condition. The ultimate Leonard dress. Likely One-of-a-Kind. NEW LISTING! Also listed in the Museum Category.

#7141 - c. 1960's HELENA BARBIERI ORIGINAL Dress of Cotton Light Blue and White Gingham Covered with Opalescent Paillettes! Oh my word! What I wouldn't give to go back in time and buy dresses like this.  Oh wait.... you CAN buy dresses like this.... on my website!!!! Killer dress from a terrific designer.  Shimmy your way into your next special event in this fabulous little statement dress!  Helena Barbieri, a designer popular with collectors, created beautiful, high end evening dresses and formal gowns from the 40s through the 60s. This whimsical little mod vintage party dress is an adorable example of her less formal style, but just as fabulous.  Basic tank sheathe dress of simple, homey light blue and white gingham cotton. Oh, but then she covered the entire dress with opalescent large paillettes. Such a great combination.  Slight A-line with three sweet gingham cords attached at hip that tie to one side. Back metal zipper.  Measures:  up to 35”  bust, up to 28" waist, up to 38" hips, 40" long from shoulder to hem. FYI, it fits a bit tight / high under the arms.  So of you won't care, and others of you could always tailor with a bit of ribbon at the shoulder to extend the straps a bit.  Most sellers won't bother to let you know these things, but I try to try as many pieces on as possible to check for fit issues.  God I love this dress!!!  Excellent condition... looks unworn.  There are some bent pailettes, but it's not an issue for the look in the least.    NEW LISTING!

#7189 - c. 1999 DOLCE & GABBANA, Made in Italy Floral Silk Dress with Matching Strappy Silk Sandals!  Not only does this a gorgeous silk dress have the matching printed silk sandals, but it also has the TV provenance. This dress and sandals were worn by Heather Tom of "Young and the Restless" for an episode (when she was on a date with Gary), as well as on the cover of Emmy Magazine. Her autograph is on that magazine as well.  The dress would likely have been $1500+ new, and the matching silk sandals at least $400+, and this is without the special provenance. Came from a silent auction in 2000 of a Y&R Fan Club Event. Comes with that catalog and invitation.  This was one of the highest priced item in the catalog. This dress has an attached black A-cup padded bra (which can be padded even more as it has "pockets") sewn in by the costume people on the soap opera to be worn as you see with the black straps showing.  Looks quite nice don't you think? Sandals are in perfect condition worn twice. The dress also worn only twice is perfect except that damn Heather somehow got a bit of dirt near the bottom of the dress (see photo of hemline and look up from there).  It's light, but it's there getting nearly totally lost in the print.  Oh, the only other thing to say is that this is one of the tightest hemlines!! VERY wiggle walk!  Don't try to step up on a bus.  Or get a seamstress to open a vent at the back seam.  I believe this dress is from the 1999 collection.  NEW LISTING!   Also Listed in the Memorabilia Category.

#5408 - c. 1970's (?) BILL BLASS Black Wool and Satin Gown with Extraordinary Low Back!  If you've been one of my devoted website groupies for the last 10 years, you might actually remember seeing this dress.  I loved it so much, I am happy to sell it again.  It's one of those rare thin wool gowns (you won't see these today!) with fabulous black satin horizontal ribbons running across the front which then change at back to a sexy diagonal criss-cross across your open back and the sexy cross on back hips.  This is tasteful, classy sexy!  Not cheezy, trashy sexy.  The ribbons across the back just hook at the side above the side zipper, so if you need a slightly larger bust, you could increase the length of the ribbon (finding a matching one).  The interior is great with imbedded cups to keep you from needed any bra.  Measures:  up to 32/33" bust, up to 27" waist, up to 38" hips, 56" long from shoulder to hem. Excellent condition with one exception.  One very classy moth who decided this was the one gown he/she wanted to snuggle in to.  So, if you look, you will find one tiny pinhead sized mothhole (see photo) about 13" up from the hem at back.  This can be easily invisibly mended for easily less than $50, but best for you to know everything. Priced just to reflect the fact that it isn't 100% perfect, but still priced well below what it should be! :)  Whoo woo!  NEW LISTING!

#7201 - c. 1990's CHER's Jeweled ETRO, Milano Light Oatmeal Colored Wool Coat!  Oh my word!   Now I still haven't found any photos of Cher in this coat, but it's going up anyway and I will keep looking.  I prefer to sell memorabilia pieces with absolute provenance, but every once in a while the vintage piece is special enough even without it... and this coat was sold as Cher's through the prestigious Julien's Auctions along with many other Cher and Marilyn Monroe pieces. I haven't seen another Etro coat like this!  It's not meant for warmth, but for beauty even though it's wool. Check out the close up photos to see the detail!! Condition you ask?  Excellent, though perhaps a bit (and I mean a bit!) dingy, or this is the color it was meant to be??  Hard to know for sure. It's less ivory and more a light oatmeal color.  Love the interior wild colors!! Measures: up to 34" bust, up to 32" waist, up to 36" hips, 35" long from shoulder to hem.  You can see how it's fitting the size 6 mannequin of 35/25/36... it's great if you don't wear anything under (or wear lightweight clothing under), otherwise it's gonna bit a bit tight as the back is slightly smallish.  Even without the Cher provenance, this is the price you would pay for a coat like this!! An new Etro Embellished silk coat is currently listed for $5,060... not nearly as fabulous as this!  NEW LISTING!  Also Listed in the Memorabilia Category.

#5410 - c. 2000's TEMPERLEY, London Embroidered and Sequined Net Dress!  OK, I know it's not vintage... but here's the question... would you prefer to spend about $2,500 for your new Temperley, London sequin trimmed net embroidered dress at a prestigious department store (note: the similar wedding gown of theirs sells for $4,945!)?  OR would you prefer to buy it at about 75% off??  Doesn't it make more sense to by it here?  Never worn, so it's exactly what you'd get in that store, but I was lucky enough that someone wanted to let this go (I've love to know the story behind that... ex-lover bought her the dress and she can't look at it anymore? Hmmm???).  You can feel bad for her, but meanwhile you can snap up her incredible dress! :)  GREAT open back!  Check it out!!  3-layer skirt.  Excellent condition, though there are some marks at the side seams that you might want to have your seamstress just stitch those seams a bit straighter. The minor sequin loss is so minor as to not be worth mentioning (and no more that if the dress was hanging around the shop). Measures:  up to 38" bust, up to 30" waist, up to 43" hips. 40" long from shoulder to hem. Marked size 8 (contemporary size).  Ecru netting with coral embroidery with gold sequins and black beads all over a SO SOFT satin lining. Feels GREAT on! Side zip.    NEW LISTING!

#5061 - c. 1980's GIORGIO ARMANI, Made in Italy, Bergdorf Goodman on the Plaza, New York Black Label Light Gray Suede Jacket!  You know that the black label is the best, top-of-the-line Armani, right? Well, you know now! :)  This jacket came from a Long Island woman who only bought the best. I just Google searched "Armani black label suede jacket" and saw a price of $3,675!  Yikes!  This is a wonderful thin lambsuede in a barely there light gray color.  Buttons up the front.  Small shoulder pads.  Measures:  34" bust, up to 30" waist, best for up to 36" hips (you can be larger, but it will open at the front), 29" long from shoulder to hem. Excellent condition but you will want to get it cleaned at a suede dry-cleaner - as the cuffs are a bit dirty and there is one round spot on the bust and one minor one on the back (see photos), or I will do it, and the price will be $100 higher. Marked size 40.  Still has the extra button inside.  NEW LISTING!

#3874a - c. early 1970's HELEN ROSE, MGM Hollywood Designer Floral Silk Organza Halter Gown! When I got married (for the first time) in 1974, I had my bridesmaids wear a similar looking gown... but, believe me... they didn't hold a candle to this lovely Helen Rose gown. Something about a well-designed designer gown... the look is timeless... as opposed to my bridesmaid gowns which, well... Anyway, you can read about Helen Rose at: http://www.antiquedress.com/item2179.htm). You will then know that this was an expensive gown in the early 70's. Could even be from her last consumer line "Helen Rose Couture" collection in 1972. Originally sold at the Alice Weiser shop in Beverly Hills. The ruffled halter neck echoes the large ruffled lower skirt which follows up and around to create a bustle-like ruffled skirt back! Fully lined with a hot pink soft silk under the sheer floral organza. Back zipper. Measures: 34" bust, 24" waist, 58" long from shoulder to hem. Excellent condition.

#6377 - c. 1980's GIVENCHY, Paris "LBD" of Black Heavy Silk with Black Velvet Appliques!  Yowza.  Told you I bought some great little black dresses for you! How's this?  Sweet Givenchy dress with lovely "Jessica Rabbit" bustline (OK, perhaps not nearly as sexy as she wore it!), dropped waistline, fitted bodice and box pleated skirt... all edges in adorable black velvet flowers.  Faux button back just as cute as the front.   Excellent condition. The only thing that I might mention is that this might have had straps that are now gone.  Still stays up if you are the right bust size, but doesn't have a mid-bodice stay, so that's what gives me the hint. So get creative if you want.  Simple ribbon straps will do.  Halter it, or spaghetti strap it, or heck, a diagonal strap!  Or again... just wear as you see it.   Measures: 34" bust, up to 28" waist, 34" upper hip (or dropped waistline). #6444 - c. 1980's CURIEL COUTURE Gray Wool Coat with Matching Short Sleeved Dress!  Exceptionally made!  No surprise... as Curiel is known for luxury! Gigliola Curiel, was the first Italian designer to be carried "exclusively" at Bergdorf Goodman in the 1950's - 1960's, and the Curiel tradition continues to this day!  "I create luxury", says Raffealla Curiel. Her couture, can run to $45,000 per dress. Her demi-couture ready-to-wear day dresses range from $2,500 - $3,500 and to $8,000 for evening gowns, and her suits from $3,000 - $6,000! The materials are real haute couture fabrics. A textured gray wool lined set in gray silk simple shift dress with matching coat.  As classy as you can get.  Hmmm, like a flashback to the 1960s, you'd think it was if not for the smallish shoulder pads and the fabulousness of the fabric and especially the incredible feeling silk satin lining on both coat and dress. You'll want to wear it naked under! Measures:  DRESS: up to 38" bust, up to 38" hips, 38" long.  COAT:  up to 40" bust, up to 34" waist, up to 40" hips, 39" long from shoulder to hem. Condition: This price is unheard of for Curiel Couture, and it's only due to a few pesky little moths.  So you will want to take the dress (and perhaps the coat) to a tailor who specializes in invisible weaving. There is only one nip (not hole) on the upper right back of the coat, so the coat is near Excellent condition.  The dress is a different matter.... there is one small hole on the upper right bust, and a few other nips below that (see photos).  The small hole will absolutely need to be fixed to be worn, so basically you are buying the coat and getting the dress for free. I just hate selling items that aren't perfect, but every once in a while I have to allow you the opportunity to buy items at greatly reduced prices.  However, I may decide to bring these to the re-weaver myself, and therefore, the price will be increased to reflect the fact that it will look near perfect.   Oh, and again... remember, if perfect it's worth up to $3,000 - 6,000! I'm just here among friends, eh?).  Excellent condition with just minor darkening of shoulders and back (you'll probably wonder what I'm talking about)... and the most minor dust/dirt around inner neck.. #3943 - c. 1950's MOYGASHEL, Pure Irish Linen Open Cut Work Lace Sheath Dress!  LARGER SIZE! Even Claire McCardell, Jacques Fath and I'm sure many other top designers used Moygashel Irish Linen! "Moygashel linen is known as the highest quality Irish linen one can buy.  Moygashel is a small Irish village in south Tyrone with linen mills established in 1795. It is said that Moygashel linen has a unique ingredient using the soft rainfall from the tributary streams on the Mourne Mountain to soften the flax. Vintage Moygashel fabrics from the 1940's, 50's, and 60's are so highly prized, they sell for high prices when you can find them."  This dress is an exquisitely cut out floral pattern of light blue embroidered edged white linen on an openwork background.  Nearly a work of art on it's own! You will need to wear with a slip... I might suggest a light blue one, or nude to show the pattern.  Or if you prefer a more subtle look, wear with a white slip.  The design works well to be worn with a thin belt, or without. Metal zipper at back. Near Mint condition. Measures: up to 39" bust, up to 35" waist, up to 42" hips, 41" long from shoulder to hem.

#7020 - c. 1960's HELEN BOND CARRUTHERS Brown "Autumn Leaves" Cashmere Sweater!  I'm sure you already know all this, but Helen Bond Carruthers are among the most highly sought after cashmere collectibles. Most are highly decorated with embroidery, applique, and beads, and often the entire sweater is covered decorations taken from all kinds of old textiles, including embroidered Chinese shawls, and were then appliqued to the sweaters. They originally sold for quite a high price of $150 at the time, and were sold to those who could afford them, including celebrities like Elizabeth Taylor who bought ten at a time! And wore one on the cover of a magazine. I assume that you already know that "HBC" sweaters can command huge prices at auction!  This brown cashmere sweater is different from most with the autumn leaves design front and back.  There are some small moth holes that you will see if you hold up to the light.  This sweater had been worn and loved, so the cuffs might have been tighter when new, but at this price, it's the look you are getting!  And what a look!!!  These are a bit short-waisted (as was the style).  Measures:  34/35" bust, 25/26" waist. I have two of these Helen Bond Carruthers sweaters in my own closet. Neither of mine are in perfect condition either. About the same as this one... and I just LOVE wearing them!  For the compliments alone!! :) :) :)

#6996 - c. 1940's/1950's Sweetest 2-Piece Spring Green Linen Halter "Dress" with Pink Soutache Trim!  I adore this set! Maybe because when I was growing up, my Mother let us pick out the colors for our bedrooms.  My older sister chose lavender, my twin chose yellow, and for 18 years, I had light pink walls and spring green carpet! Yup, this outfit would have disappeared in my room...totally camouflaged! But I bet you love this just as much as I, without my childhood memories, eh?  Mid-weight linen. Side metal zipper on bodice. Halter ties behind neck to adjust as necessary.  Side metal zipper on skirt.  Wear the bodice in or out.  Fabulous 3-D pink soutache on skirt and all over waistband, edging the bodice, and with that cute little pink bow! Shown with crinolines
