#6338 - c. 1960's White Cotton Pique Wiggle Dress with Fabulous Red Grape Embroidery! Larger Size!  Going to a summer wine tasting party and want to wear the perfect dress? I have this love of white cotton pique. Can't even tell you why, but I guess it's something in my genes. Anyway, this white pique dress is quite special with what looks to be hand-embroidery around the "v" neckline with cut outs, and on the skirt front and back.  Stunning and sexy. Comes with the original matching sash belt which I show in the other photos. Wear with or without, or with a red belt.  Back metal zipper.  Measures: 40" bust, up to 32" waist, up to 41" hips, 24" long from waist to hem, 40" long from shoulder to hem. Excellent condition.  I think I saw one pinhole near the hemline, but can't find it again on quick review.  Bright white like new.  The belt looks ever so slightly dingier, so perhaps just a quick bleaching of the belt? Hardly an issue.  It's just that the whiteness of the dress is surprisingly great for a vintage dress!!  Unlined cotton, so PERFECT for HOT SUMMER DAYS!  NEW LISTING!

#6495 - c. 1950's Gold Rose Printed Pouf Dress Taupe Voile!  I have to tell you that I was invited to a 50's 50's (50th birthday in the 1950's theme) party recently and had to find the perfect dress to wear (after all, I sell vintage!  I had to be the "belle of the ball" or what good am I?)  SO I went through my entire stock and settled on this dress. It was perfect, though I had a hard time getting through the doorways as this skirt pouf is HUGE!  Shown with no extra crinolines... this is the way it comes... all the pouf is already under the dress.  Lovely design of beiges and tans and bright gold in a sheer printed floral voile trimmed in tan satin piping.  The bodice is lined.  Comes with the original tan satin bow front belt ribbon. Back metal zipper.  Measures:  33/34" bust, 26" waist.  Excellent condition. NEW LISTING!

#4893- c. 1990's OWNED and WORN by Whitney Houston Black Stretch Beaded Dress with Sheer Sleeves and Long Fringe Skirt!  Every once in a while I dress up in my own vintage pieces.  Only rarely, as I spend most of my time working on this website!!!  No time to go anyway.  My job is to dress YOU!  However, I was an usher at a local theater production of  "Thoroughly Modern Millie" and needed something perfect to wear to get the audience "in the mood".  I wore this sexy, tight-fitted number with black beading at neckline and hipline, black macrame also at the hipline, and then that great overskirt of long silk fringe originally worn by Whitney Houston! I got a thrill from telling people who wore it before me... as well as from over-heading the ladies in the audience say to each other "look at that great dress".  The fringe moves with you as you shimmy, it shimmies!   It looks better on when you actually have arms! :) Impossible to measure. Totally stretchy!  I had to cuff up the sleeves for my 5'2" body, but worked fine. 41" long from shoulder to hem.  Back zipper. Rhinestone buttons at upper back. Excellent condition. Also Listed in the Whitney Special Category. NEW LISTING!

Simple, yet classic tan and bone checked mohair.  Nice raglan seaming at the armholes.  Great neck!! Fully lined. Excellent condition with just some scratching of the wooden round buttons. #4743 - c. 1960's SORELLE FONTANA Export, Made in Italy Raw Silk/Linen Wiggle Dress with Jacket! Museum Deaccession!  Quite rare to find a 60's Sorelle Fontana suit!  FYI, according to the Life in Italy website, Sorelle Fontana is Rome's "Prominent and Oldest Fashion House - and is known as Couturiers to the Stars. Their beautiful designs became highly sought-after by Hollywood stars, famous women and the Italian aristocracy. Ava Gardner wore Fontana on and off the set. And Sorelle Fontana even designed for the movies, including dressing the young Audrey Hepburn in "Roman Holiday".  Many others such as Princess Grace Kelly, Jacqueline Kennedy and Elizabeth Taylor wore their designs.  They designed their first ready-to-wear collection in 1960. AND, according to the museum hangtag on this suit, they date it to 1960, and the label indicates "export", so...  I have to assume that this is a wonderful museum example of possibly the first collection of RTW by Sorelle Fontana! Excellent condition.  The exquisite art noveau print dress bodice is the same material lining the boxy jacket!  So beautifully tailored, it could nearly be worn inside out! The tie on the dress can be worn showing the print side out, or solid side, depending on the look you want. Back metal zipper. No skirt slit, so you will wiggle! Measures:  36" bust, 25" waist, up to 35" hips, 20" long jacket.   NEW LISTING!   Also Listed in the Museum Category.

#9915 - c. 1990's STEPHEN YEARICK Beaded Ballgown! Stephen Yearick gowns seem to be a favorite of brides and pagent beauty queens.   I hadn't heard of the label, but certainly knew that this was not an inexpensive dress just from the quality of the fabrics and the elaborate black beaded bodice -with dripping black beads on the 1/2 length sleeves!  Will look great on with the lined molded breast cups!!!  The color of the gown is hardly describable... because it's SEVEN layers of fabric! The top layer is a shimmering silk metallic lame chiffon in a golden tone.  Under that are two layers of voile, one layer of silk in a sienna color, three more layers of net crinoline!  The overall color is .... uh....  I need a crayola crayon box!!!   Measures: 35" bust, 27" waist, 60" long from shoulder to hem.  Excellent condition. #9909 - c. late 1970's BOB MACKIE Pink and White "Flame" Design Beaded Gown! From the estate of a wealthy writer on Long Island, New York comes this early RTW Bob Mackie beaded gown from Martha (the high-end boutique).  Martha was one of the first boutiques in the US to carry Bob Mackie gowns for the public in the early 1980's.  This gown is unique!  Fabulously designed with a ZIPPER up the front!!! ...for easy, fast dressing - this was something Mackie could have designed for the theatre.  I can't tell you any more than that (damn!)... I only wish I knew the history. Bottomline... it's a lovely light pink beaded gown with white sequins in Mackie's "flame" design which again was used many times in his costumes (often for dance outfits with carwash skirts - see photos for examples from Mackie's book).  Excellent condition... just needs the sequins stroked to lie flat.  Sheer illusion back studded with rhinestones. This gown is beaded on a tightly woven blush material, and lined in same blush color silk crepe. Long slit up front. Measures:  34-36" bust, 26-29" waist, 36-39" hips, 60" long from shoulder to hem.  NEW LISTING!

#9631 - c. 1960's PAUL PARNES, Mary Sachs, Harrisburg, Lancaster Light Goldenrod colored Linen Lace Dress!  Larger Size! Who is Paul Parnes you ask?  Well, I have little information, but if you look through all the old Vogue magazines from the 40's through the 60's you will find Paul Parnes well represented.  This dress will easily prove that he is a designer we should all know! Light goldenrod colored (a slightly golden ecru) linen dress loaded with soutache covered lace on bodice and entire lower skirt front and back.  Comes with the original skinny covered belt! Measures: up to 41" bust, up to 33" waist, up to 44" hips.  Excellent condition.  Can't find anything wrong with it! Lovely lovely lovely dress!  NEW LISTING!

#6434 - c. 1960's Multicolored Gathered Silk Crepe Chiffon Short Dress!  I nearly fell over when I saw this dress.  SOOO different!  For all of you who would die for a Jean Desses chiffon draped gown (ok, perhaps that's not a good idea, as if you are dead, you won't be able to appreciate the gown!)... so for those of you still living... this is for you!  WOW!  Multicolored vertical striped silk crepe chiffon totally gathered over bodice and at waist.  The skirt is made up of two layers of the same chiffon... and the dress is lined in, yup, you guess it... the same multicolored stripe silk!  The waistband is sewn in (not a separate belt. You could wear with a bow-tied sash, or a belt if you wish.  The length (which was perfectly shortened from the original length) is either a short dress, or could be considered a long tunic length. So wear with colored tights and high heels, or heck, just enjoy the shortness, perhaps for summer with ballet flats.... whatever works best for you.  Back metal zipper.  Totally unique and wonderful!  Excellent condition.  Measures: 33-35" bust, 25" waist, 21" long from waist to hem. Shades of turquoise and aqua woven in a floral design. Measures:  34/35" bust, 26" waist, up to 40" hips, 39" long from waist to hem. If you don't want a gown, shorten to a fabulous dress! AND comes with the original matching silk print capelet/scarf with loop edging.  Can be worn a few different ways - I've shown a few.  I'm sure you can figure out more.  Metal zipper at back.  There is one small net crinoline under... I added another for the photo which doesn't come with it.  The hemline is slightly uneven which I think was the original design. #6375 - c. 1990's OSCAR de la RENTA Black Silk Velvet Gown with Huge Multi-colored Beaded Butterfly! From Saks Fifth Avenue!  Oh lordy!  You know that there are many "Butterfly" balls out there every years..... nearly as many as the inevitable "Black & White" ball.  So it's my job to make sure you are perfectly dressed!  I nearly keeled over when I found this gown!  If you have the body, you can show it off with this gown that covers your entire top so you won't get too chilly, but you are covered only with sheer black tulle - open at the back - except for the huge multi-colored bugle beaded butterfly at front..... strategically positioned to cover only what you need covered!  And the interior has two bust pads to keep you where you need to be.  There is a thin line of black beading at waistline all around.   Measures: 35" bust, up to 27" waist, 61" long from shoulder to hem. #6436 - c. 1960's SAMUEL WINSTON by ROXANE Fabulous White Satin Embroidered Strapless Dress! Oh please take a look at the close-up photos of this dress.  Really!  You have to see the details which you can't see in the photo at left.  Promise me you will look. Pinky swear? OK... I believe you.  So.... what do you think? Incredible huh? This was NOT cheap when new. White satin fully embroidered with shades of silk turquoise blue and gold metallic threads.  The decorative buttons are self covered in the same material, the waist has a decorative bow, the skirt has wide inverted pleat at front.  The seaming is also fabulous with slight empire and waistline tailoring at front and back.  Doesn't get much better.  Near mint condition! Metal zipper at back. There are net crinolines under. I added one, but it's unnecessary... it will still pouf without the extra. This is a substantial dress.  Will nearly stand on its own!  Measures: 34/35" bust, 26.5" waist, 31" long from natural waist to hem.  NEW LISTING!

#2040 - c. 1950 BALENCIAGA Paris Import by DAN MILLSTEIN Gray Padded Hip Jacket!  With a faux doublebreasted look (the buttons at the left are decorative!). Cuffed turnback sleeves.  Exquisite tailoring, slightly open at upper bust, and with slightly padded hips.  The material pattern lines up fabulously everywhere!  A true sign of masterful tailoring! Dan Millstein was a well-known New York City coat and suit manufacturer, and seems to have negotiated for the rights to reproduce Balmain and Balenciaga designs in the early 1950's.  I don't know if this piece ever had a skirt to match, but as it is, it is just the jacket which would look perfect with just a simple black pencil skirt or pants. Excellent condition.  Lined in a goldenrod crepe.  Measurements coming....  but about a size 8.  NEW LISTING!

#9928 - c. 1980's VALENTINO NIGHT, Made in Italy Black Ruffled Silk Faille Evening Skirt with Attached Bright Royal Green Silk Satin Sash and Huge Bow!  I have to confess (though I don't know why I'm doing this because it makes me sound SO stupid!), when I first saw this garment, I thought it was a strapless dress.  So... I tried to fit it on my mannequin to photograph and just couldn't figure out what was wrong.  10 minutes later I FINALLY figured out that it was a skirt!!!   Eek!   What a jerk!   Anyway... now you won't have to go through that, as you know it's a skirt. And a beauty at that.  Feels GREAT! Long black silk faille with large ruffles all the way up one skirt and dipping down to small ruffle on the other side.  The green silk satin sash and huge bow is attached.  Measures:  28" waist, up to 36" hips, 45" long from natural waist to hem... LONG!  So, a simple black top is all you need for a dynamite evening look!  NEW LISTING!

#2996 - c. Early 1940's Reddish-Brown Lightweight Crepe Dress with Scattered Sequins and Original Belt!  So hard to find these vintage dresses with the original belts. Usually they were lost over the years.  This dress is a lovely design with high wrapped neckline, 1/2 length sleeves (I always find that flattering for those of use with not all that attractive upper arms! - Longer than short sleeves).  The sequins are fabulous as they are auroaborealis so will shine in a rainbow of colors. Side metal zipper and upper back metal zipper.  Padded shoulders. Unlined. The additional dress photos are slightly lighter and slightly redder than the photo at the left - the many photos are closer in color.  It's still a brown, but not a dull brown.  Excellent condition (belt is limp... big deal! :).  Measures: 33-35" bust, 25-29" waist, up to 37/38" hips (smaller hips are best so it lays best), 42" long from shoulder to hem.  You really want to be slender for this dress, as the back will be too tight otherwise, and the sleeves might be too tight as well. Slightly short-waisted, but the wide belt will cover.  Looks great on!  Nicely fitted! :)

#4729 - c. 1950's  Black and Teal Silk Changeable Brocade Carnation Flower Dress! Came from a deaccession from a museum so it still has the museum tags attached!   I'm hoping you can see the bow details on this dress at the bodice and at the front hem... you will if you look at the close-up photos. Sweetheart neckline will flatter anyone.  Tiny cap sleeves for those of you (like me) who hate your underarms. I hate my elbows too, but hate long sleeves, so what's a girl to do!  Either wear long gloves, or get an "elbow tuck"! :)The materials is a changeable black with brocaded carnation flowers in a teal color.  Has two surprising pockets at the side front!  Love that!  Metal zipper at back. There are no crinolines under, though I photographed with one under that doesn't come with it.  Frankly it probably shouldn't have that much, or any crinoline under... it's not a bubble dress.    Measures: 37" bust, 26" waist, 25" long from waist to hem, 39" long from shoulder to hem.  Has a 5.5" hem, and looks like it was hemmed up 2.5" from the original length.  Excellent condition... just needs one tacking at cap sleeve. Should take 30 seconds.   NEW LISTING!

#3970 - c. 1990's NOLAN MILLER COUTURE Ivory Embroidered Open Lace Organdy "Mermaid" Slightly Trained Gown! I bought this gown some years ago from a large Nolan Miller auction.  Many of the pieces I purchased were designed specifically for the New York City Ballet Company  for "Sleeping Beauty", "Swan Lake" and some others.  However, in the midst of this auction came this lot of SEVEN of these Nolan Miller Couture open lace "mermaid" gowns - all matching, FOUR in perfect condition! These are the COUTURE line, NOT what you would find in your local department store. Absolutely gorgeous.  Embroidered openwork lace organdy of bows and flowers skim over the body and then flares out at knee.  Satin band around bustline and bow at back.  Zipper at back.  Most of these gowns also come with matching long gloves (which are very long and tight... so I'm not sure they are wearable unless you have ballet dancer's arms).  Just so you know, I recently saw this same gown sell on a different vintage clothing website for $2,000.   Well worth that, but you luck out and can buy for less. The skirt has 4-layers!!   Excellent condition.   This gown measures: 35" bust, up to 28" waist, up to 38" hips, 45" long from natural waist to hem in front, 52" long from natural waist to hem in back.  This is for a TALL gal!  Certainly can be hemmed up, but tall as is.   Would make a wonderful wedding gown, or just a formal gown.  Add some black trim or a black wrap and long black gloves for a Black & White ball.  NEW LISTING!  Also Listed in the Wedding Section.

#3378 - c. 1950's Shades of Aqua Silk Faille Floral Party Dress with Rhinestone Straps!  I still can't figure out how my mannequin got so sunburned in a few of these photos!  She must be sneaking out to the beach when I'm not watching!  "Girls Gone Wild"!  I just hope she doesn't end up on YouTube in a compromising situation.  Meanwhile, she looks lovely in this 50s party dress with crumb-catcher gathered bodice. You know about "crumb-catchers", yes? It's the term for those bodices with material that is draped in such a way to catch any crumbs you might drop from your toast! :)  Great rhinestone straps catch the light and attract "him".  I have no idea if they are original to the dress... it's possible it was a strapless (as it's boned), so do what you want, but I love the straps!  Back metal zipper. Has attached lots of net crinolines under.  Measures:  32" bust, 24/25" waist, 25" long from waist to hem. Excellent condition.  NEW LISTING!

#6135 - c. 2004 MARCHESA NOTTE Seafoam Plunging Halter Slightly Trained Gown! OK, I'm showing the photos of Jennifer Lopez wearing her Marchesa gown on the red carpet sometime in 2003/2004.  I would love to tell you exactly which event she wore this to, but I can't remember. (Perhaps there are some JLo fans out there who can let me know!).  All I remember is seeing her in this gown and swooning!  At first sight it became one of my all-time favorite gowns...ever!  So... when I found this Marchesa Notte version of the gown, I just HAD to have it! Same exact look though JLo's gown probably had beading at the waistband. This gown has silver passementarie that gives the impression of beading.  Excellent condition with a few minor issues as the gown was worn... likely only once. There are tiny little spots at midback pleating (only seen when you look directly down her back!), tiny light marks at skirt side, and small purply spots along the hemline.  See photos for all these issues. A dry-cleaner might do wonders, but it's certainly wearable as is! Measures:  34/35" bust, 25" waist, 57" long in front from shoulder to hem, 61" long in back.  NEW LISTING! #6431 - c. 1960's RARE ODICINI COUTURE White Strapless Silk Satin Gown with Attached Black Silk Lined Train and Heavy Black Beaded Floral Ornaments around Bodice! Sold at Fred Hayman, Beverly Hills. This is a RARE Odicini Couture gown from Italy of the finest quality silk satins!  PLEASE read up on Odicini by clicking on the photo at left and scrolling down.  You really need to know WHAT this is!  They just don't make anything like this any more.  The modern designer couture gowns just don't have the quality fabrics for some reason.  Why?  Who knows!  Perhaps the modern silk worms are eating too much fast food?  Or aren't getting enough loving?  Whatever the reason, that just means that vintage is the way to go!  Especially if you have lusted after Audrey Hepburn's famous Givenchy gown in "Sabrina" and could never find anything even close.  Well... here it is!  White silk satin column strapless gown with attached black silk lined train.  Incredibly heavy black 3-dimentional beading around bodice and waist front to back.  This gown comes with the original large and heavy 115" x 28" black silk satin shawl.  Side zipper.   It's TOP couture!   Measures: 34/35" bust, 27" waist, up to 37" hips, 44" long from natural waist to hem, 50" long in back.  Excellent condition, but as it's white, it either needs hemline cleaning, or hem up for you shorter women and no spot cleaning necessary. I've photographed the gown slightly hemmed up and not hemmed up to see the length of the train.  Either way is great.  For your next BLACK & WHITE Ball!!  With long black gloves!  Oh my! NEW LISTING! Wide black silk satin bow waistband.  The bodice is an overlay of black sequin and white "roses" ribbon  in an abstract pattern on a spiderweb-like netting - attached but designed as a bolero with scalloped bottom edge, and open at back. Nicollette Sheridan at 1991 Golden Globes!

#6381 - c. 1991 EAVIS & BROWN, London, Fully Beaded "Basketweave" Dress! The Same Dress Worn by Nicollette Sheridan at the Golden Globe Awards  This is one of those dresses I just had to have for this website.  First off, Eavis & Brown (if you don't know!), was the designer for Heather Mills' wedding to Paul McCartney. They have also created red carpet gowns for Halle Berry, Sandra Bullock, Beyonce, Dame Helen Mirren at the 2005 Emmys, and even Donald Trump's sister for his latest wedding!  This SAME Eavis & Brown elaborately beaded "basketweave" off-the-shoulder dress was worn by Nicollette Sheridan at the 1991 Golden Globe awards with her then husband, Harry Hamlin. This dress weighs a ton - over 6 pounds!!  Every inch beaded on off-white silk satin with tiny silver seed beads, faux pearls, and studded rhinestones in chiffon flower bud ornaments!  Extremely elaborate "basketweave" design!   The mannequin doesn't have arms, so I can't show it worn off the shoulder, but meant to be just off.  Nicollette went a bit lower! :)  Extremely full scalloped edged skirt dips down at back of dress, so it's above the knee at front, and (on me) mid-calf at back!  Possibly wonderful worn as a wedding dress as is, or (to be really different) wear a longer skirt under for the ceremony and remove for the reception!  Then PAR-TY!  Excellent condition, near mint!  This must have cost many thousands of dollars new... easily $10,000 as this is the top of the line from Eavis & Brown, more fully beaded than any other I've seen! Measures: 36" bust, 30" waist, 33" long from shoulder to hem in front, 42" long in back.    NEW LISTING! Also listed in the Wedding and Memorabilia Categories.

And her designs are memorable...such as Elizabeth Taylor's famous white wrap dress and slip from "Cat on a Hot Tin Roof".  She was Grace Kelly's favorite, designing her wardrobe for "The Swan" and "High Society" AND her personal wedding gown, as well as Elizabeth Taylor's first wedding gown to Nicky Hilton,  a white satin gown embellished with seed pearls and beading which had taken a number of beaders two months to complete! Helen's consumer line, "Helen Rose Couture", existed from 1957-1972. In 1957, the price for her couture version of the Liz Taylor "Cat" short chiffon dress was $250! So you can just imagine the original price of this beaded gown! Easily $2000+ in the 60s! Fitted fully beaded dress with extremely flattering low "v" neckline both front and back.  Fabulous floral beaded and rhinestones over the entire bodice and wide band at hemline.  Awesome! If Helen Rose was good enough for Grace Kelly and Liz Taylor for their wedding gowns, well... By the way, don't forget to mention the Grace Kelly / Liz Taylor connection to every woman in the room! Measures tops: 33/34" bust, 23/24" waist (23" inner band), 35/36" in the hips, 39" long from shoulder to hem. This is an opportunity to experience the luxury and glamour that was reserved for filmland's most beautiful women. Near Mint condition!  The BEST of the BEST! NEW LISTING!

#6332 - c. 1950's Red and White Taffeta Party Dress!  This is one of those dresses I just had to have for this website.  It's so graphically interesting! The pink, red and white embroidery at bodice and skirt cover the transition from red to white taffetas.  Pretty little red bow at mid-bust is pinned on so you can remove if you wish (though why would you??).  Crumb-catcher bodice can be worn points up or down.  Back metal zipper. Excellent condition, though I found one tiny spot near back waist (see last photo).  Big deal!  :)  Has a scratchy net crinoline under, but I show it with an extra one for massive pouf. Shown on mannequin who ate too much last night, so doesn't fit her.  But will zip up fine on you smaller gals.   Measures: 32/33" bust, 24" waist,  29" long from waist to hem.  NEW LISTING!

#4290 - c. 1940's RICCI MICHAEL's, Mayfair (London) Purple/Blue Chiffon Gown!  Yes, I know... your heart is beating fast!  You think you've finally found that Jean Desses gown that you have been wishing for since you saw Rene Zellweger in the yellow Desses at the Oscars.  And so you have... if you don't mind it really being a moderate-level knockoff. Great design at first glance as you can see.   However once you see in person, and up close, you will see that it's not the high-quality goods that you were hoping for... or... perhaps you WERE hoping for this so you don't have to spend many thousands of dollars for the original Desses! :)A royal bluish purple silk crepe chiffon over a slinky purple rayon lining.  There gathering and draping is topstitched with light blue thread.  There is a heavy metal zipper is at the side.  There are some problems.  The one strap needs to be resewn for neatness. There is a badly mended small tear at the hemline lost in the chiffon and various pinholes and larger holes near the hemline - seen when held to light.  The purple lining is discolored (unseen when worn), one bodice bone is slightly out, and the lining peeks out at top of zipper.  There is underarm lightening. There is a small hole near zipper, and a 1" very small spot on front skirt (see photos) with any other light spots getting totally lost in folds. And the lining peeks out of hemline so might want to hem up. So... there are problems... nothing glaring, but it ain't no Desses!  Measures:  35/36" bust, up to 28" waist, up to 38" hips, 55" long from shoulder to hem.  You will love it for the price!  NEW LISTING!

Now there is no way I can explain the color of these brown velvet sleeves... they have a reddish hue in certain lights and just looks so amazing!!  They are wild!! I guess that goes with the animal print dress!  :)  Totally unique.  Measures:  38" bust, up to 33" waist, up to 42" hips, 44" long from shoulder to hem.  Labeled size 42, but please check the measurements. #6022 - c. 1950's Black Silk Crumb Catcher "New Look" Dress! With Original Separate Crinoline Half Slip!  You probably know what "crumb catcher" means, but for those of you who don't... it's the cute name for a bodice like this that has two layers, one which sticks out a bit at the bust - you know... to catch the crumbs! :) Amazingly I had this same dress back in 2001 and was just lucky enough to find another (that happens every once in a blue moon in the vintage world... to find more than one of something!  It's so much fun... like finding an old friend!  It's funny, I have a hard time recognizing and remembering people, but I can always remember a dress! Oh so great dress with a band of black velvet drawing attention to the bustline and continuing up to become straps!  The back has a black velvet bow.  Extremely elegant and classy. Back metal zipper. Comes with original crinoline and taffeta black half slip. This dress will give you that "New Look" tea-length or ballet-length look.  Measures:  33/34" bust, 26" waist, 29.5" long from waist to hem. Excellent condition.  Only tiny issue is that the elastic waistband on the half slip is slightly stretched out... but the slip also has a metal zipper, so it's still fine, but will likely need a nip/tuck.  Again, this is just the bonus slip!  The dress is near mint!  NEW LISTING!

#6077 - c. 1980's OSCAR De La RENTA Black Velvet and Royal Blue Changeable Silk Opulent Ballgown!  Oh my.... what an exquisite color combination!!  The changeable color blue silk is not as "electric blue" as it looks, but a deeper royal blue.  However under certain lights, the changeable silk will look brighter, or darker depending!  The kind of ballgown that every little Princess dreams of when a little girl.  Or, perhaps that was just me? Nah.... I know there are others like me out there! :)  Wonderful elaborate black velvet design adorns the huge puffed sleeves and the front and back of the skirt. Beautifully tailored and impeccably ornamented... I don't even know how they did it!  The design is not appliquéd, but more cut into the fabric... probably too expensive a procedure to bother with today! This was one expensive gown when new! #6382 - c. 1980's Ruched Look Party Dress!  Absolutely unique fabrication and print on a wonderfully sexy dress.  However you can tell by the construction that it is a high-end and brilliant little number.  The fabric is an abstract floral pink, lavender, gray and black fabric that is horizontally pleated into micro-mini "ribbons".  I don't know how else to explain it.  Just look at the close-up photos to see the material!  It's just FABULOUS!  The dress has a low squared neckline, form-fitted torso with flirty balloon ruffled sleeves and hemline.  This dress came from a studio wardrobe department, so you never know where you might find it on the silver screen! :)  So imagine you are watching movie with your friends and there it is!  Wouldn't it be incredible to say to your friends, "Oh my god, I OWN that dress!" Measures: 32" bust, 27" waist, up to 36" hips (tops!), 33" long from shoulder to hem.  However can be worn totally off the shoulder if you want!  Or use double-stick tape to keep sleeves just off shoulder. #9905 - c. 1938  RARE "Matador" Red Raw Silk Jacket with Embroidered Gold Bouillon Decoration!  This is SO much better in person! Check out the close-up photos to see the great detail! I've recently found photos of the rich and fashionable women of the 1930's in similar jackets (and remember, this was depression era, so there were not that many rich and fashionable women!).  These highly decorated cropped jackets were worn as for dinner over fairly slinky dresses and gowns.  Or for the progressive women... wide-legged, high-waisted pants. Let me first say that this feels like a dream on! Lined in a so soft red silk satin.  Ooohhh!  You'd want to wear without anything else under just to feel it.. and you can as it's snaps up the front so can be worn open or closed.  Measures: 33-35" bust, 34" around at waist,  16" long from shoulder to hem, 7/8 length sleeves (to be worn originally with loads of bracelets and/or gloves). The wonderful still shiny patina gold bullion is 3-dimensional with wrapped cords, rings, chainstitch, etc. in a wide variety of embroidery styles. Tiny red and green beads placed to look like gemstones and gold sequins all over. Glamorous jacket in high style! Hard to find great 1930s pieces. NEW LISTING!

#9914 - c. 1980's AURELIE MARCIANO, Paris Pastel Beaded Silk Satin Fantasy Wedding Gown or Ballgown! The most incredible white silk satin ballgown delicately covered in pink, light blue, gold, copper, white, silver and clear sead beads in a floral vine design.  Fantasy gown shape with flattering "v" dropped waistline, large puffed sleeves, "v" neckline, and openfront skirt.  Think Cinderella's ballgown, or a Princess Renaissance gown ... or Glinda's Wizard of Oz gown!  All you need is a tall crowned hat and wand!  This is NOT a cheap knock-off of a gown.  In order to confirm that to you, I did a Google search for Aurelie Marciano, Paris.  What popped up is a bit of an interesting fashion history lesson.  Seems when Vera Wang was looking for a new career in 1990, she opened a bridal salon carrying the best of the best of wedding gowns.  The high-class salon carried her own designs as well as special gowns by other top designers such as Carolina Herrera, Victor Edelstein, Scaasi and Aurelie Marciano!  In a New York Times article from Sept 5, 1990, it reads: "Many dresses in the salon are highly ornamental.... The idea is to have merchandise you can't find elsewhere.  One of Victor Edelstein's designs is an off-the shoulder column of peau-de-soie with a bouffant overskirt ($27,500).  A more typical wedding dress is a full-skirted Marciano design of tissue-thin white damask with flowers and beadwork covering the bodice for $11,000.  Again these are 1990 prices!!!  With inflation... likely well over $25,000 for a Marciano gown with this much beading!!!!  Excellent condition with only one flaw... a spot on one shoulder puff (see photos).  You can try to see if a cleaner can get it out, or pinch a little of the puff and tack so it disappears, or cover with a bead or two or bow.  Otherwise, the gown is near Mint condition with even all the beading intact!  Shown with an extra crinoline under (doesn't come with it).  Back zipper. I doubt you will ever find another gown that even comes close if this is the style you are seeking. Measures: 36" bust, up to 29" waist, 57" long from shoulder to hem with extra 3" under hem. #6078 - c. 1981 ALBERT CAPRARO COUTURE Dusty Pink Silk Trained Ballgown or Wedding Gown!  On July 29, 1981 Lady Diana Spencer married Prince Charles with the whole world watching on TV.  The gown she wore,  designed by Emmanuel, became an instant sensation.  No surprise that similar gowns with huge puffy sleeves became all the rage. Albert Capraro was a top designer of the 1970's and 1980's first designing for Oscar de la Renta starting in 1966, and starting his own label in 1974.  His claim to fame was designing for first lady Betty Ford. This gown is (in my opinion) much more beautiful than Diana's wedding gown and the couture label means it would have been designed specifically for a private client. De-accessioned from a museum!  An exceptional dusty pink silk taffeta, adorned with huge matching silk roses and bows at shoulders and cuffs (they are all easily removable if you wish).  The bodice is low cut and fully ruched, and the skirt is massive. In a news article of 1975, Capraro is lumped in with Bill Blass - whose couture gowns sold for as high as $5,000 at the time! Diana's gown was said to cost 9,000 UK pounds, likely close to $15,000 back then!  OK.. back to this gown.  Metal zipper at back. Measures: 32/33" bust, 25/26" waist, 57" long from shoulder to hem in front, 74" long in back, 285" hemline!  Excellent condition with just one small spot at back of train (see photos) which can be covered or train shortened.  Looks amazing on!  Just fits me... tightly fitting my 33" C/D cup with great cleavage and 26" waist! One of the BEST! True COUTURE which would cost tens of thousands of dollars today! NEW LISTING! Also Listed in the Wedding Section.

#2826 - c. late 1940's/early 1950's JEAN DESSES, Paris Black Silk Chiffon Cocktail Dress! Did you watch the Academy Award Oscar Ceremony in 2001?  Do you remember the fabulous yellow strapless chiffon gown worn by Renee Zellweger? "Who are you wearing?", asked Joan Rivers. "Vintage Jean Desses", Renee replied, who purchased the vintage gown for a reported $14,000 from a vintage Los Angeles shop! Rare to find vintage Desses dresses and gowns these days except at the top couture auction houses.. oh and from my website! :)  Jean Desses was a TOP of the line Couture house of Paris and this dress was designed while Jean Desses was still designing.  Excellent condition. Side metal zipper. Sheer chiffon yoke and cape sleeves. Structured horizontal and vertical bodice pleating finish at beautifully gathered dropped waistline creating full chiffon skirt in front and flat sleek skirt in back. True couture design you just don't see in mass produced dresses. A Classic! Museum quality. Imagine with just the right Diamonds! I'd go with a small diamond short necklace at neckline and perhaps a figural diamond pin at dropped right waistline - maybe a large nouveau dragonfly? Call Fred Leighton, NYC (finest antique jeweler!) and see what he's got anything for under $80,000! The dress will look like a bargin! Measures: 35" bust, 25/26" waist, 36" hips. According to Kovel's Antiques, here's another comp price for you - sold at auction in 1999: Evening, Black Chiffon, Scalloped Tucks, Train, Jean Desses,1954 for $8625! #9906 - c. late 1960's-early 1970's DONALD BROOKS Insanely Fabulous, Brilliant, Heavily Rhinestoned and Beaded Aqua Blue Silk Chiffon Evening Gown!  Weighs Nearly 5 Pounds! Donald Brooks is one of those designers from the 1970s who should be better known.  He was a 4-time Coty Award Winner, Parsons Medalist (a rare tribute awarded to only a handful of designers!) AND he won an Emmy!  In addition to designing for his wealthy clientele, he also designed costumes for theater, TV and movies... nominated for Oscars a few times! His dramatic clothing was heavily influenced by his work in the theater. This is one of the BEST of his designs I have EVER seen!!  Most Incredible!  Very heavily sparkly rhinestoned and beaded on aqua silk chiffon.  Empire waistline. For those of you who don't need perfection, it's beautifully wearable, and looks great on!  Here are the issues:  The under slip is faded (can't see that unless you are looking). Slight color variation from main gown of sleeves (but since it's sheer, and your skin will show through, so not noticeable when worn).  The hem will need to be re-hemmed. There are a few spots on the dress here and there... the worst you can see on the right side of the 16th photo and at hemline in the 21st photo. A spot cleaning at the cleaners should lighten them!  Also... there are good professional repairs at both underarms (see photos) and ever so slight staining.  Measures:  34" bust, 27" empire waist, up to 42" hips, 55" long from shoulder to hem.  Best for under 5'4".  All the issues sound worse than they are when worn and would cost much more if perfect!  At nearly 5 pounds, it's a knockout!  NEW LISTING!

You could even wear this as a jumper with a blouse under if you wish for a totally different look. Just a thought!  Back metal zipper.  The dress is nearly perfect, but someone took out the side seams (so you can see the stitchmarks - see photos).  You can either leave it at this size, or stitch back up the seams to back to perfect.  Measures:  40" bust (originally 37" bust, if side seams are sewn back), 29" waist (wear a waist cincher if you need to!!), easy hips, 41" long shoulder to hem.  NEW LISTING!

I can't believe I found these pieces still together... only missing the original belt (I just used a black satin ribbon which doesn't come with it), but otherwise in Near Mint Condition.  Black silk shantung sheathe dress with mink-like fur (I don't believe it's mink, but a real fur of slightly longer hair).  The coat trimmed in the same fur is awesome!!!!  I've lightened the photos a bit so you can see the black-on-black detail of the fabric.  Wear the coat over the dress or alone with anything and everything for that "I'm richer than you" look! The coat closes with snaps at front, dress has nylon zipper at back.  Dress measures: 36" bust, up to 32" waist, up to 39" hips, 37" long from shoulder to hem.  Coat measures 36" long from shoulder to hem, 16" across back between armseams, 7/8 length sleeves or full sleeves for shorter arms. Fully lined in a lovely silk/cotton blend.  The only thing to mention at all is that the feather hem seems to be a bit shorter at one side... just likely due to the way the feathers are attached (I'm very picky about hemlines!!).  I don't think you'll care unless you have the same OCD (obsessive compulsive disorder) issue about the straightness of hemlines that I do!  It's a rare disease! :)  Measures: 35/36" bust, 31" empire waist, up to 39" hips, 41" long from shoulder to hem. #9748 - c. 1946 Teal Colored Halter Gown with Satin Trim and Train with Original Belt!  OK... stop right here.  As fabulous as this gown looks in the photo.. it isn't in perfect condition.  OK... has your pulse rate dropped yet?  I know if perfect it could have made your heart stop, so perhaps it's best that it's not. In 1946 nearly all the top Parisian designers' collections had some incredible wrapped drapery around the waist.  This one probably had a few more stitches someplace to hold it into shape, but as is, it is a bit droopy.  The gown is a fairly heavy rayon satin-backed faille with matching rayon satin on halter straps, fun bust flaps, buttons and train.  There are dark spots on the gown here and there (which don't show up in the photos, but they are there) which may or may not clean out... I didn't try anything. The gown comes with the original belt - which I forgot to photograph for you.  Looks great either way.  Tiny size.  Measures: 33" bust, 25/26" waist, 34/35" hips (these are MAXIMUM measurements.  I just squeezed it on me at bust and waist and I'm 33 (c/d cup) bust, 26" waist,   however I couldn't get my 37" hips in the gown at all.  43" long from waist to hem. Uma Thurman, Halle Berry,  Jessica Alba, Kate Hudson, Charlize Theron, Penelope Cruz, etc. And now you can add your name to the list! As thin a nude material as you can find, wrapped and beaded with gold floral design.  The back has a nude panel to practically disappear when on, and then comes the gossamer golden near cellophane-like panel to barely cover your leg at the extreme high side slit. This panel is also rhinestoned and trained.  The gown has a complete inner boned bodysuit so no other undergarments are necessary.  I could price this gown easily at $10,000, but thanks to Whitney, I bought this gown at the right price... and I'm allowing you loads of $$ to take to one of those ridiculously overpriced couture dry-cleaners to get the internal body suit spot cleaned (see photos) so it will be good as new! Measures: 33/34" bust, 25-27" waist, 36/37" hips, 62" long from shoulder to hem in front, 77" long in back.  After trying it on (unbelieveable cleavage for my 34C bust!), for those of you with larger bums (like me), you might just need an extension for the inner bodysuit for comfort.  Not a big deal).  Excellent condition except for inner bodice which has what can only be described as crud to get cleaned.  If it's good enough for Halle Berry at the Oscars... it's good enough for you!!  NEW LISTING! Also Listed in the Whitney Houston Category.

#6185 - c. Spring/Summer 1974 Couture Christian Dior, Paris Numbered Dress and Over Blouse!  So how's this!  I found a couture Christian Dior dress from Spring/Summer 1974 - and then found a couture Dior gown from Autumn/Winter 1974! I got the whole year covered! :) This is an incredibly beautiful day dress (I usually prefer to sell only evening or party/fancy clothes as I find day clothing boring... but this sure isn't!).  A sheer navy silk faggoted top and bottom dress with pleated skirt and tied waistline with matching sheer pocketed openfront blouse or jacket with slightly bell sleeves.  Sash belt is separate. This just has that uber-rich look to it.  Just imagine her at the yacht club or lunching with the girls on Rodeo Drive.  Measures:  36/37" bust, 31-33" waist, up to 39" hips, 47" long from shoulder to hem, 30.5" long waist to hem, 26" long blouse.  Zipper and snaps at side. Excellent condition with hardly seen 3 spots which may dry-clean out... 2 on upper sleeve, 1 near cuff (see photos).   NEW LISTING!

#6073 - c. Autumn-Winter 1974 Numbered Couture CHRISTIAN DIOR, Paris Pumpkin Colored Silk Chiffon Gown!  Come on... did you ever think you could afford a Dior Couture gown???? Well, now you can.  From Autumn/Winter 1974, this gown looks as modern as you will find!  Unique color - something I called pumpkin, but it's more like a subtle pumpkin-taupe. Triple tiered ruffled skirt and ruffled bodice are the only design elements.  Clean lines also evoke Chanel or Armani.   Beautifully made as you would expect with a double zipper at the side and hidden snaps over.  Measures:  33" bust, up to 28" waist, up to 37" hips, 56" long from shoulder to hem. Excellent condition (OK.. with a few issues) with just a few minor chiffon pulls, and see photos to see a bit of chiffon tear on the thin strap (near one shoulder) and slight tearing at very edge of the top of zipper under arm.  I assume "she" wore a flower on the top of that one strap .... so you can as well.   NEW LISTING!

#6246 - c. 1960's PAULINE TRIGERE Black Wool Trapeze Dress Blazing with Rhinestones!  OK... I have to tell you that I photoshopped the fancy rhinestone "x"s to try desperately to show you just how sparkly this dress is in person.  It's just mesmerizing!!!   Think of every word possible.. blazing, dripping, glistening... no word is good enough.  You just have to see this dress! Modern, yet vintage trapeze shape with "v" small cowl neckline.  Fine wool base and those famous Trigere flat faceted rhinestones. Measures: up to 38" bust, the rest free, 38" long from shoulder to hem. Lined in silk.  Excellent condition.  There are matching black wool insets under the armholes without rhinestones that may be original to the dress, but if not, a dressmaker can easily remove.  I just like to mention everything.  Feels great on.  Looks even better!  Belt doesn't come with the dress, just showed what you might do. If you collect Trigere, you need to add this to your collection.  Hard to find these top-of-the-line Trigeres! NEW LISTING!

#6172 - c. late 1940's Black Thin Crepe Party Peplum Waist Party Dress with Fully Beaded Bodice and Sheer Yoke!  OK.. tiny gals... wanna great 40s dress?  I know there are loads of 40's parties and weddings to attend, and you will be so happy to have this waiting in your closet when all those other girls are scouring cyberspace and flea markets with panic in their eyes searching day and night for something, anything perfect to wear. Love the sheer net yoke which allows for the faux off-the-shoulder look!  Very fitted bodice, fully beaded to glitter in the light,  to the flippy crepe skirt and the perfect little beaded peplum.  For a totally different look, wear with a 50s petticoat for a wide, more "new look" skirt! Which, frankly, might have been the original concept for this dress... a cross between 40's and 50's.  Surprising back metal zipper... surprising as you might expect to see it on the side of the dress rather than the back, but again, that just proves it to be late 40's.  Unlined as it originally was. Measures:  32/33" bust, 25" waist, 33/34" hip, 44" long from shoulder to hem.  Excellent condition.  NEW LISTING!

#6134 - c. 1960's TEAL TRAINA, New York Black Silk Dress with Matching Trapeze Shaped Sleeveless Bolero!  Yeah, I'm sure there is a better name for this kind of top... it's kind of a cape or blouse or jacket or whatever. The beauty of the dress is in the simplicity of the shape... high "v" neck, interestingly cut-in sleeveless shoulders, and elliptical waist seaming getting lower at back. The bolero is also sleeveless, button front with attached ties to tie.  Measures:  35" bust, 26" waist, 36/37" hips, 40" long from shoulder to hem.  Back metal zipper. The ties on the bolero can be tied a few ways.. but I liked this best.  Lined in voile for that classy touch. Excellent condition with extremely minor dust marks which I'm sure will be made perfect with one dry-cleaning.  Oh, and the the tag is a bit dirty (who cares!).    NEW LISTING!

#6137 - c. 1970's ALFRED BOSAND, New York Royal Blue Net Over Silk Crepe Rhinestone and Beaded Gown with Matching Scarf! 1970's?  I don't know... could be 1960's as well.  This one is hard to date for sure. Suffice it to say "it's vintage" if anyone asks. Great fabric in a royal blue netting over a matching blue silk crepe studded with silver bugle beads and large rhinestones.  Gorgeous, but tiny so read on if you happen to Measure:  30" bust, 25" underbest (empire), up to 28" waist, up to 37" hips, 58" long from shoulder to hem (56" long from shoulder to hem if you want to steal some rhinestones!).   The scarf is 46" long x 9" wide.  Back nylon zipper. Excellent condition except for some beads/rhinestones missing here and there... so... as I mentioned, if you hem up to a 56" long (still quite long), you will have extra stones and beads to replace those missing.  And voila... good as new!   Smashing on the right small-boned gal! A wonderful, exciting gown that won't overwhelm you.  NEW LISTING!

#4850 - c. 1980's BOB MACKIE Black Jersey Strapless Gown with Beaded, Rhinestone and Sequined Bodice!  I've sold many a Mackie gown on this website.  Some are museum pieces - the original all beaded gowns on net base.  This is not.  It's just a great evening gown by the master of great gowns.  Black silk jersey - lightened in some photos to show shape including waist seaming, gathering of skirt at waist to move gracefully. The bodice is the highlight of this strapless gown with black and white beads, rhinestones and sequins twisted into a "rope" and "knot" detail at bust and around the back.  Excellent condition with the only issue being that the hand-stitched zipper at back could be stitched neater.  The Bob Mackie label is missing from the inside, but has the Bob Mackie printed ribbons. This is absolutely guaranteed Bob Mackie.  Sold at the prestigious Martha luxury boutique. Measures: 36" bust, up to 28" waist (inner waistband measures 27", but doesn't have to be used), 58" from presumed shoulder to hem. Looks FABULOUS on!!  NEW LISTING!
