# 7760 - c. 2000's ALEXANDER McQUEEN, Made in Italy Black Textured Cotton Asymmetrical Pleated Dress!  Ah... Alexander McQueen!!!  The man was brilliant, and this dress just reinforces that!   LOVELY black textured cotton dress which you can wear off the shoulder or on the shoulder, fitted torso and oh... then that fantastic asymmetrical double tiered knife-pleated skirt!  This dress came from the estate of actress Melanie Griffith (who only bought the best and expensive pieces!).   This dress currently would sell for about $2,000.  You can get it for less... and you will be thrilled to have this in your closet.  Excellent condition.  Measures: 33" bust, up to 25" waist, up to 35" hips, 35" - 40" long from shoulder to hem. NOTE: THIS DRESS WAS FOUND AVAILABLE FOR SALE ON ANOTHER WEBSITE FOR $2.000!!  Also Listed in the Memorabilia Category.  FINAL SALE MEMORABILIA ITEM.

# 7285 - Fall, 2008 TEMPERLEY, London Raspberry Red Silk Blend Evening Gown!  This is The gown worn on the runway (as you see at left) at the Oxford Red Dress Couture Ball in Oxford, England on June 18th, 2010.  The gown was donated to the auction by the Temperley London design house. Proceeds from the auction benefited H.E.L.P. Malawi (dedicated to making a difference in the lives of vulnerable children living with the devastating consequences of HIV/AIDS) and Teach A Man To Fish (international organization designed to improve the relevancy, quality, and availability of education for children in developing countries).  As you will see, this item (in the shorter dress version) was worn by Christy Turlington at Bono's (Red) Auction at Sotheby's, New York on Valentine's Day, 2008.  UK TV presenter Kirsty Gallagher wore the same dress at the 2008 National Television Awards at The Royal Albert Hall in London.  This gown would have sold for $5,000 - $8,000 new.  This is NOT the "Alice" lower priced line, but the top of the line runway piece. Impossible to find! Measures:  up to 32 (nearly 33"), up to 27" waist, up to 37" hips (probably best for up to 36"), 50" long from WAIST to hem in front (yes, waist to hem!) and 60" waist to hem in trained back.  Best for a very tall gal, unless you have an excellent seamstress to hem up.  Note: I really hate most new pieces as I find they are poorly made and/or of lousy materials.  This shuts me up.  Totally! Exquisite! Feels and looks incredible on! Oh, and weighs an amazing 4 pounds... just from the massive amount of silk!

THE SAME LOOK was worn by Amal Clooney at the 2015 Met Gala ball!! (see photo)

# 11737 - c. 1940's ETTA GAYNES Design Black Wool and Satin Coat!   So I found a 1939 ad for an Etta Gaynes coat (not nearly as pretty as this one) for $31, so with inflation, that's about $550!!  I would imagine this coat might equal at least $600-$750 in today's dollars... as I found another ad from 1949 pricing the coat "under $80." so that would be $767.  Also mentioned that the coats can be found in "BETTER STORES".  This one was sold at a boutique Beverly.  Don't know what city. I love this coat!  Black fine wool at top with wide 1940s shoulders, notched collar, covered buttons down front, nipped waist, and then that fabulous bottom which is large black satin squares bordered with black wool.  You might think this was a more well-known Lilli-Ann piece.  Excellent condition.  Measures: up to 34/35" bust, up to 27/28" waist,  43" long from shoulder to hem. No wide backs.   Remember, if you are wearing a dress under (depending on fabric), you want to be smaller than these measurements.  Taffeta lining.  Makes the great "swishing" sound that you love!  Also listed in the Furs, etc. section.

# 7481 - c. 1990's MOSCHINO COUTURE, Made in Italy Red Devil Skirt!  Yup, I've said it before.  I Love Moschino.  Actually I just love "whimsy" in fashion, and nothing is better than vintage Moschino!  The perfect skirt to wear on your first date... or is it???  Guess it all depends on the guy.  Can he handle it?  Will it scare him? Will he love it?  You know you will be feeling sexy in this tight red pencil skirt with the black satin (or is that satan!) devil's tail wrapped around it.  Charm it up with a lady-like blouse and pumps, or hell... wear a black leather bustier and killer boots.  Excellent condition. Measures:  up to 26" waist, up to 35" hips, 17.5" long from waist to hem, 34" around hemline.  This will give you a tight wiggle walk so don't try getting on a bus!  The look was perfect for TV's "Nashville" star, Hayden Panettiere who wore the Moschino vintage Devil dress at the ABC Upfront VIP Party in May, 2012.  As the fashion critics were quoted, "Seriously cute, if you ask us!".   The skirt is fully lined in satin (again with the "satan"?).  Excellent condition.   The red color is less intense than you might see on your screen, perhaps more the color of the tag above.  Hard to tell you as all monitors are different, but it's not a screaming red, and I'd say with a blue undertone (for those red people who need to know!).  I'd keep this in a heartbeat if my hips were smaller than Miss Piggy's! :)

# 7819 - c. 1970's PIERRE CARDIN Prestige, Paris, Made in France Royal Blue Tweedy Likely (Silk/Wool Blend) Suit with Uniquely Buttoned Jacket!   So I read that the Prestige line was the high-end line between Couture and Ready-to-wear... made with couture patterns but without the made-to-measure numerous fittings of true couture.  From the feel of this fabric and even just the wonderful silkiness of the lining, I am sure this is true.  Love the color.  Royal with hint of black running through.  Four black buttons uniquely placed at the upper jacket, and then hidden snaps are used to keep the jacket closed the rest of the way down.  Simple, basic skirt shape completes the suit.  Wear together or separately.  Measures:  up to 40" bust, up to 32" waist, up to 40" hips, 21" long jacket, 24" long skirt with 2" waistband and 4" hem (which looks like it was home-hemmed, but looks fine on the outside). #4967 - c. 1990's GIVENCHY, Paris Nearly Black Heavy Cotton Pique Daisy Sundress with Bow Back! I confess I have a weakness for Givenchy.   Probably partly due to the association with Audrey Hepburn from way back.   But whatever it is that draws me to them.. this dress harkens back to those classic 50's Audrey dresses.  And this one you can purchase for a bit less than the $807K paid for Givenchy's "Breakfast at Tiffany" black dress! :)  This is not the cheaper Nouvelle Boutique ready-to-wear line.  Nearly black heavy cotton pique sundress with open back just closed with three bows snapped into place. White and green stylized daisy print. I've lightened some of the photos so you can see the tailoring.  I still may decide to keep this dress for myself... so buy it before I change my mind! Near mint condition. Measures: 32/33" bust, 24/25" waist. 22" from waist to hem.

# 9751 - c. 1940's Nude Colored Lace Tiered Gown with Original Attached Matching Slip!  Why my camera has so much trouble matching colors is beyond me!  Anyway, I've manipulated these photos to hopefully match as close as I can to the real color of this gown.  If you are buying to match something, I can't verify.  But if you are just looking for a great 40s gown in a pretty light brown/nude color with a touch of deep peach (you might call it saddle brown).... check this out!  Side metal zipper.  Comes with the original triple rhinestone ornamental belt.  DOESN'T COME WITH THE RHINESTONE CLIPS.  Measures:  35/36" bust, up to 30" waist, up to 40" hips, 60" long from shoulder to hem. NOTE:  long-waisted... and likely had shoulderpads when new... but looks fine without.  Priced to sell.  Excellent condition... BUT you will see tiny holes in the upper back.  Because of the color, they blend in with skin, so you will hardly see anything wrong. Also Listed in the Under $150 category.    Under $150, so Final Sale Item.

# 7778 - c. 1990's VERSACE, Made in Italy Navy with Purple Pinstriped Pantsuit with Attached "Leather" Vest and Pants Top! Black Medusa Label!  Previously Owned by Melanie Griffith The Bootcut (or Bellbottoms) made a comeback in the 1990's and it has never looked better than in this 2-piece Versace suit!  From the closet of Melanie Griffith, and she is one of those stars who liked to spend top dollar for quality clothes. I love the body-hugging shape of this suit.... covered yet sexy! Low waisted pants with perfectly placed black "leather" at top and around upper back and Look at the seaming on that ass!!! Wow!  That same black "leather" creates an attached vest look which zips and snaps shut, but allows for skin to be shown.  Jacket is beautifully cut to shape!  I have been writing leather in quotes as even though it seems to be leather, it may be a faux leather, but you'd never know.  Even has the Versace name engraved in the zipper pulls at the vest and pants pockets (see photos) and has all the Medusa Versace goldtone snaps.  Excellent condition throughout. Measures: up to 35" bust, up to 32" low waist, 9" rise, 41" long pants leg (outside).  Also Listed in the Memorabilia Category.  FINAL SALE MEMORABILIA ITEM.

# 11706 - c. 1980's OMO NORMA KAMALI, Made in USA Black and Bronze/Gold Embroidered Satin Padded Jacket!  I was told that this jacket was $2,500 when new. I've seen this same large flower embroidery on other Kamali pieces, notably two coats and some pants. The coat was for sale elsewhere for $1,200.   This jacket is padded, with fill, so even though it's "one size fits all", it's quite large!!  Best for size 10-14 I would say! It overwhelms me at 5'2" size 6.  The sleeves are extremely long, but can be cuffed to a more normal length.  The collar can be worn down into lapels, or up in a funnel shape.  Pockets on front sides.  There are no closures on this coat, but you can easily add them... like the buttons or closures you would have on a 1920s coat... one at the collar, one at the waist... that's all you need.  Excellent condition, with just minor embroidered thread pulls. Measures: 29" long sleeve from shoulder to cuff, or 21" long from armseam which is 8" off shoulder.  32" long jacket from shoulder to hem.   Also listed in the Furs, etc. section.

# 7088 - c. 1948 Bergdorf Goodman on the Plaza, New York Black Lightweight Wool 2-piece Sui!  Museum Deaccession! There are a few issues with this suit, but OH so pretty! Especially the lining (I know, that's weird to have a "thing" for the lining, but it's a brilliant blue silk!  And since the jacket doesn't close at front (meant to be worn as you see), I'm sure that lining will be seen as you move.   High-waisted long full skirt, self-tie at the neck, long sleeves, slight peplum jacket. Evoking Jacques Fath or Christian Dior, this suit has loads of decorative buttons so fashionable for this era.  Sadly the suit has LOTS of moth holes.  So it's best for design/pattern.  Kills me!  I hate moths!!

# 7784 - RARE c. 1990's Karl LAGERFELD, Made in France (Sold at Neiman Marcus) Topless Dark Brown Jumper Dress!   I've been trying to research this dress (can you call it that?) and can't seem to find anything other than it's likely from 1992 or 1995 when Karl Lagerfeld seemed to show see-through blouses on the runway.  This was likely shown with a sheer blouse under (I assume), but you can certainly wear with an opaque blouse, or a turtleneck if you really want yourself covered!  Mr. Lagerfeld was obviously evoking the iconic Rudi Gernreich topless bathing suit.  Excellent condition.   Measures:  30" waist, 32" long from shoulder to hem.

# 7478 - c. 1950's HEINZ OESTERGAARD, Berlin (Germany) Gold Dress with Gold Metallic Polkadots!   If I could read German, I may find out more about Mr. Ostergaard, but this should suffice:  "He was considered one of the leading German fashion designer of the postwar period. After wins in Berlin, where he designed clothes for film stars such as Swedish actress/singer Zarah Leander and Austrian/Swiss actress Maria Schell, Oestergaard went to Munich in 1967 where he became the fashion manager."  This dress is a lovely gold heavy rayon (?) with gold metallic thread polkadots that shine in the light.  I'm showing the back of the dress in this photo to the left with the unexpected matching rose.  The "v" neck is at back with a boatneck at front.  The waist is slightly low with full skirt (shown with a small crinoline that doesn't come with it.  You could certainly get a fluffier crinoline... I think I'd like that even better!).  Side metal zipper.  When I purchased it, the skirt was hemmed up.  I removed it, so you will just need to get a professional steaming/pressing to remove the crease, or put back up to where it was hemmed. Looks great either way.  Measures:  up to 36" bust, up to 29" waist, 48" long from shoulder to hem.

# 7045 - c. 1930's Black Sheer Silk Crepe Dress with Ruffle Collar and Back! Well, well, well.... Want some attention when you turn around??  You may not be able to notice the people checking you out from behind, but they definitely will be!  Trust me.  Now unless you are a pop star or supermodel (they don't mind walking the red carpet practically naked), I would strongly suggest you wear a slip under.  Black would be best in my opinion... and again, it can be as sexy as you want as you will see it through the dress.  So the dress will still show you off, and still show the dress off as well. The wide ruffle around the front will lightly billow as you walk, and the back ruffles fall all the way from the shoulder to the hem on either side.   As this is bias cut and a bit of a stretchy silk crepe material, it will stretch to hug your curves.   Shown on a mannequin of 34" bust/25" waist/35" hips... however I can stretch it to 36" bust/29" waist/38" hips.  On this mannequin it's 50" long from shoulder to hem... not a full-length gown, more a long dress, but bias will get longer or shorter depending on your body.  Side snaps closure. You may want to add a belt (as there likely was one and the waist seaming is a bit messy - see last photo) though it's a bit high-waisted as you can see on the mannequin with the seaming.  Obviously it dips up in the center front, but the belt would be below that... perhaps with a rhinestone buckle.  There is only ONE defect I can find... and that is a teeny teeny crepe break (or hole if you want me to call it that) on the front hip area (see photo).  If you are wearing a black slip, you will never in a million years notice it. Obviously you are seeing the museum tags hanging at the upper back.  I didn't want to remove them!

Unique!  "DAY BIRGER ET MIKKELSEN is a modern, classic, ethnic look full of intriguing contrasts, in a sexy, stylish expression. From exotic influences to the shimmery glamour of vintage styles."  That's the write up of this label.  I adore this piece!  Obviously you would have  to be a top model to rock it as is with nothing under, but add a nude colored camisole and wow!  Large various colored, sizes and shaped rhinestone jewels around the high neck and hip band.  Zipper at upper back.  The color is nude (with a slight pinkish tint).   Measures: 29.5" around waist, 34" around the hemline (upper hip).  Sides are open, but this is a 35" bust mannequin and there is still more room if you are larger... probably up to 38" bust or so.   Excellent condition.

# 7645 - Dated May 2, 1969 Bergdorf Goodman on the Plaza, New York, Made in Italy Black Sheer Silk Organza Mini-Dress with Ruching Created for  Mrs. Meyer Falk!  I'd love to know who Mrs. Meyer Falk was, because she was obviously incredibly daring and cool!!!  I think I just found her!!!  I love to research and all the details seem to match to Mrs. Genevieve (nee Lutfy) Falk. From her Obit:  "Born in Lebanon, raised in Montreal, lived in Jackson, MS when she married Meyer Falk, the love of her life.  Originally a fashion designer in Montreal, her love of style and design were reflected in every endeavor she undertook from her home to her dress - her flair and panache were always a topic of conversation among her admirers and those she surprised with her forward fashion sensibilities.  Most of all Genevieve showed graciousness and kindness to all."  She passed away on August, 7, 2010.  This dress is just awesome.  Obviously expensive when new as it was sold by Bergdorf on the Plaza (very high-end!), and the material and construction just screams expensive.  There is a double layer in the skirt so a bit less sheer there, but you gotta love those ruched breast pockets!!!!!!   Wear a slip under or don't.... and in 1969 it's possible she didn't.  I mean this was just after the topless bathing suit and in the Woodstock  "burn your bra" era.  Excellent condition with just the slightest pull in the fabric at upper back (see photo.... you probably won't even see anything!).  Made in Italy, so again.... it's great quality.  Measures:  up to 35" bust, up to 27.5" waist, up to 36" hips, 19" long skirt from waist to hem.  Metal zipper at back.   Comes with the original thin belt.

I would have KILLED for this coat back in the day!!!  Even now, I find it thrilling to have found something this incredible. Gorgeous enough for a museum. Amazing! (I hate using that word as it's SOOOO overused for everything!! You know.. everything is amazing).  Check out the close-up photos to see the detail.  The trim is a black Mongolian curly lamb, and the coat is lined in a heavy black faux fur for warmth.  The coat is quite heavy and warm!  Comes with the original matching wide belt with leather tie.  Excellent condition (just 2 hooks missing... hardly worth mentioning).  Measures: up to 34" bust, up to 28" waist,  47" long from shoulder to hem.  As it's of the late 60s, early 70's... it fits tight under the arms as was the style back then.  So best for you to be smaller than the measurements.  This would be best on a thin size 0/2 girl.  Also Listed in the Furs, etc. Category.

# 5386 - c. 1960's Sheer Net Sequined Tent Dress!  Damn... so pretty... but sadly there is a large discoloration/staining down one front side... so if you are wearing at night under subdued light, you might get away with it (assuming you are going to be wearing a nude  or blush pink slip under).  Otherwise, you might need to get creative and cover with a long flowing ribbon or something... or seam up on that side... but that might ruin the great full tent shape.   You COULD "babydoll" it with an empire ribbon under bust and that ribbon streamers would cover.   Really... just use your imagination... because the rest of this dress is fabulous... and was likely quite expensive when new.  There are no tags sadly, but just think Jean Shrimpton (if you are too young to know her, then please google her.  She was exquisite!).  So... will it clean?? # 7050 - c. 1940's Museum Deaccession Little Black Dress with Silk Fringe Detail!  I tried to photograph this so you can see the fringe detail... but please look at the close up photos to see the interesting tie back and "apron" front... along with the unique "u" neckline.  Black thin crepe material.  Side metal zipper.  Great LBD from the 1940's.  Wear with a doll/tilt hat, gloves and ankle strap shoes for the vintage look!  Or... wear with boots and a smashing necklace for a more modern look.  Interestingly different!  YEAH!!  Isn't that what vintage is all about??   Measures: 36" bust, up to 28" waist, up to 39" hips, 43" long from shoulder to hem. Excellent condition.

# 5383 - c.1970's ILIE WACS Black Velvet Wrap "Coat" or "Smoking Jacket"!  Ilie Wacs was a celebrated coat designer.  He just passed away at age 86 in September 2014, but he left "an indelible mark on the history of fashion."  He designed for Originala, one of the most expensive and elegant coat lines of its day—in the late 1960s, their coats averaged about $500. He was the head designer from 1964 through 1972 among the ranks of other great Originala designers Marc Bohan and Louis Dell'Olio. Love this one... at the height of the era of smoking jackets in vogue.... a simple, basic wrap coat or long jacket.  The kind of item that you will treasure in your closet.  I added the black satin sash belt... there is nothing that comes with this and you WILL need something as there are no closures.  A sash like this will make it look like the smoking jacket. A regular belt will make it look more like a coat or coatdress.  Rhinestone belt for another look.  35" long from shoulder to hem.   Excellent condition.

# 3997 - c. 1950's Deep Rose/Claret Heavy Satin Smoking Jacket! Practically one size fits all! Made in China. I was told this was worn by Miss California during the Miss America pagent. It DOES look incredibly cute on, but seems a wacky story. Who knows! Might be true! :) Nice quality! SO SOFT!!! Get out the slippers and black satin pants! Lounge in luxury. This was likely a man's smoking jacket, but equally terrific for a woman. And because it's just a wrap style, will fit nearly everyone... the only important measurement is 18" across back between armseams - so measure your favorite jacket in your closet, and see if this will fit you! It can easily be worn large. Shown on a size 6 mannequin, she looks comfy, don't you think? Oh damn.... I just tried this on myself, and I look damn good in it as well! I should never try anything on, as I wonder if I should just keep it. Luckily the arms are way too long for me ( at 5'2") so I would need to tailor it, so.... it's staying up on the website while I try to grow longer arms! :) The jacket is claret red with a gold circular brocade design. It has black satin lining, lapel, and cuffs. (The belt doesn't come with it... just get a black satin ribbon!) Front pockets with black border. Measures: 18" across back between armseams 32" long from back neck to hem, 30.5" long sleeve from crick of side neck to end of cuff (have to measure this way as if you are small - as you can see, the shoulder seam will not be at your shoulder). Excellent condition with just some very light scuff marks on satin and extremely minor pulls. I'm being extremely picky!!! Labeled size 44. Would make a great gift! Could even be used by a woman as an outerwear jacket because it will be big enough to fit a sweater underneath.

# 11107 - c. 1980's OSCAR de la RENTA Chartreuse Green Satin Ballgown Trimmed in Black Velvet!  OK.... PAY ATTENTION TO CONDITION. OK, I have your attention so you won't think this is my normal perfect condition piece.  It LOOKS to be perfect, and it's certainly gorgeous, but sadly there is discoloration on the skirt.  So your options are: 1) you don't care, you love it enough to deal with it. 2) you will wear it in a dark evening so no one will notice.  3) you are the kind of person who can figure out how to redesign or cover with appliques or tulle or chiffon overlay to make it disappear.  4) You are a master at cleaning garments.  5) You are great at re-dying so this can be put back to perfection.  You'll see this in the last 3 photos (click on gown at left to see these).  You'll see some water spot discolorations at the hemline, and harder to see is the skirt side that is lightly discolored down side.  If you look at the 3rd photo of the side of the gown, you will see how light it is... but it's there... and I want you to know.   Meanwhile, this is obviously a fabulous color and fabulous strapless gown. LOVE the back velvet bows!!!! Measures:  35" bust, up to 26" waist, 45" long from waist to hem.  Would be listed for much more if perfect.   THIS EXACT SAME GOWN IS LISTED FOR SALE FOR $1,950 ON ANOTHER WEBSITE.

I would LOVE to fit into the gown (I have a similar one in white that I wear whenever I need a fancy gown without going over the top!).  Pair with a pink cardigan sweater and you can wear this to a wedding (you'll look smashing!), or gala it up with jewels and go to any gala ball!  It's as beautiful as a peppermint!!  Excellent condition (probably just worn once).  Side double zipper (yes, very well made!).  The material is a lovely weight satin.  Measures:  31" bust, 24.5" waist, 40" long from waist to hem.  Sadly it's a small size, but for those lucky gals, it's perfect!  This will NOT overwhelm you!  Can you tell I'm in love with it??  Labeled size 2, but sizes keep changing!!    One small mark on bodice. If it's all that disturbing, cover with a pin or flower.

# 11375 - 1966 HOLLY HOELSCHER "This is your Calif. Shirt Dress" Shirtwaist Silk Print Dress Sold at Neiman Marcus!  You can find a few of these here and there, but this is by FAR the best looking one I've seen. The print is a "novelty" print with music notes, "Le Matin" newspaper (a Parisian newspaper discontinued in 1944), a large pipe, a vase with leaves... all in a gorgeous scarf silk fabric "boldly barraged" with colors of fuschia, green, tan, wine, goldenrod and dark gray. A very similar dress (even with the inverted pleats in the skirt) is listed for sale in an advertisement in a Texas newspaper dated March 31, 1966 (see photos).  Most people list these Holly Hoelscher shirtwaist dresses as "1950's", but most, I believe, are from the early to mid 1960's.  The original price in 1966 was $125.  That equals nearly $900 in today's money!!!  No surprise, as you can see and feel the quality of this silk and the construction with the sheer lining (Balenciaga used linings like that!).   Measures: up to 38" bust, up to 28" waist, full hips.  NOTE:  the original belt is missing, so I just added one, but it doesn't come with it. Excellent condition.  Hidden buttons at front.

# 11395 - 1990's GIORGIO ARMANI (Black Label), Made in Italy Black Neoprene Funnel Neck Coat!  Oh yeah!  So I was trying to research this coat and found that the much less expensive Armani Collezioni line currently has a black neoprene coat with stoveneck or funnel neck coat which SOLD OUT at Neiman Marcus and Nordstrom for $1,895.  This coat is the high-end black label Giorgio Armani and may have cost more like $5,000.  This coat came from an estate of a NYC woman who had ONLY the best high-end labels.  And as a typical New Yorker, most everything in her wardrobe was black.  This coat is SOOO cool, as the neckline can be worn up in a modified funnel, or down with wide lapel. Closes with large snaps in doublebreasted shape.  Labeled size 42, but fits me perfectly and I wear about a 4/6 (I measure a busty 34/28/38), 40" long from shoulder to hem and it works great for my 5'2" height... the sleeves aren't too long!!!  Pockets.  Excellent condition, except for what looks like a horizontal scratch at back (see photo).    Also Listed in the Furs, etc. Category.

# 7613 - c. 1950's OLEG CASSINI Black Lightweight Wool Dress!  As simple as design you can get, but from the era when Oleg Cassini was the King of Fashion.  When he was so "hot".... he was appointed by Jacqueline Kennedy as her exclusive couturier in 1961! Yup.... designer to the First Lady. And then going on to become engaged to Grace Kelly.  This was a man firmly smack in the middle of the most fashionable life of the 1950's-1960s.  This dress is perfection of simplistic design.  Click on the photos to see the seaming of the very wide waist, the lovely "u" neckline, the large decorative mother-of-pearl buttons, the 3/4 length sleeve (perfect for wearing gloves or showing off your bracelets), a couple gathers at the waist skirt. Now if only this dress was in perfect condition.....  but alas.... there are a few minor moth holes here and there. All tiny, but there... and the metal zipper up the back is a bit "wavy". But still..... a dress to be cherished and fashion designers of today to take note of the era when women were sexy and classy.  Measures:  up to 34" bust, up to 26" waist, up to 36" hips, 26.5" long from waist to hem with 3" hem.   Priced to reflect condition.

# 7681 - c. 1960's DIANA DEW for Paraphernalia Multicolored Psychedelic Cotton/Linen (I assume) Minidress!   In September 1965, the very first Paraphernalia opened in New York on Madison Avenue between 66th and 67th streets. A laboratory and showcase for fresh design talent, Paraphernalia led a new epoch in fashionable New York. Founder Paul Young chose a motley group for his original design team: Betsey Johnson, Deanna Littel, Carol Friedland and Joel Schumacher. Later came Michael Mott, Elisa Stone, and Diana Dew. British designers were also featured in the boutique, such as Mary Quant and Foale & Tuffin. Fans of the shop included Penelope Tree, Julie Christie, Marisa Berenson and Twiggy.  In the later 60s, many more Paraphernalias opened. By then, most of the original designers had left the flagship store, and Paraphernalia franchise died out in the late 70s.   Diana Dew was best known for her electric dresses.  Extremely rare... even without the battery pack, one of her electric dresses for Paraphernalia is available on another website for $5,000!   This dress is highly collectible and desirable for the classic 1960's psychedelic print.  I've seen quite a few Paraphernalia dresses that are pretty boring.  This is not!!!  All it needs is a plastic chain belt slung at the hips.  Back metal zipper. Measures:  up to 33" bust, up to 28" waist, up to 35" hips.  The hem looks like it was shortened, but could be taken back down again.  It WAS the 1960s after all....  I hemmed up everything of mine too.... the shorter the better!!! :)  Extremely minor spots hidden in the design (see photos).

# 11325 - c. late 1960's MAINBOCHER, Inc. Pink and Gold Lurex Brocade Long Dress with Brilliant Rhinestone Buttons!  From the Estate of Lila Acheson Wallace - Co-Founder of Reader's Digest!  Museum Worthy! Who is Lila Acheson Wallace? I have to admit, I didn't know her name either, but just to give you an idea of her great wealth, in 1987 the Metropolitan Museum of Art (MET) in New York City inaugurated the Lila Acheson Wallace Wing to permanently house and exclusively devoted to 20th-century art. During her long association with the museum, she was one of its single greatest benefactors. That's wealthy!!!  In addition, in 1972 she was presented with the Presidential Medal of Freedom by President Richard Nixon, and in 1992, she was posthumously awarded the National Medal of Arts.  She died in 1984.  I was recently lucky enough to get a few of her pieces... all from prestigious high-end designer, Mainbocher.   This one is a long pink and gold metallic brocade dress with brilliant (sparkling!!!) multi rhinestoned buttons down front, two patch pockets, self belt and notched collar.  Simple design of almost achingly beautiful material.  In near mint condition. Measures: up to 40" bust, 34" waist, up to 44" hips, 55" long from shoulder to hem. NOTICE:  The SAME EXACT DRESS is in the MET Museum!!  Photo of that dress is shown on their online collection! Please read the description above.  I was recently lucky enough to get a few of her pieces... all from prestigious high-end designer, Mainbocher.   This one sadly doesn't have the label, but all the other pieces were Mainbocher, and this certainly seems to be.  A lovely, lovely dress of a butterfly print with 3-Dimensional butterflies on self-belt and on the cross-front neckline.  Side metal zipper.  Pockets in gathered skirt.  I'd love to say this is in perfect condition... but alas... there are underarm stains, one spot on the bodice, and barely seen other stains (one water spot on skirt and one tiny mark on skirt). One side has been taken in (extremely well done... you'd never know except for the seam marks seen on the fabric inside) and the skirt has been hemmed up from the original length.  Measures: up to 35" bust, 28" waist, 23.5" long from waist to hem (3" additional hem).  Look at the last 6 photos to see issues. Love the asymmetrical almost Grecian draping of the bodice, the skinny self belt, the modified wrap skirt (no leg will show), the inverted pleat skirt back with 1" train... and that brilliant BRILLIANT rhinestone ornamental buckle. # 4628 - DATED September 30, 1959 Bergdorf Goodman On the Plaza, New York, NY Brown and Black Brocade Dress with Matching Shaped Bolero Jacket!  Quality Made!  I just LOVE that Bergdorf Goodman (high end department store) dated their specially made or tailored garments!!!  It's a perfect snapshot of the era, down to the exact date!!!!  This dress with matching bolero is dated: September 30, 1959 with the customer name of Mrs. H Ragge (or Rogge). Lovely simple shape sleeveless dress with scoop neckline at front and square neckline at back, lightly gathered waist skirt, kick pleats at back and even a RARE off center back metal zipper than hides in the design!!!   The wide necked jacket is classic early 1960s/Jackie Kennedy look.  Love the fact that the bolero is open at front bottom.... and short sleeved.  Lovely piece in Excellent condition.  Even better in person... had to lighten a bit to see the design and detail... it's dark brown with black brocade.  Measures:  up to 35" bust (tight... you will need a smallish back with most of your 35" upfront.  JUST fits me and I wear a 32F bra (crazy I know - I'm really not that big, but it's the small ribcage and back you will need!!!), up to 27" waist (if you want to breathe, you might want to be up to 26" waist, up to 38" hips (very tight so if you want to sit, go smaller), 41" long from shoulder to hem with an extra 4" in hem (it was hemmed up, but I like at this length so I'm leaving for you).  OK, so the ONLY issue is that at the bottom of the zipper at the seam, the fabric has ripped at that seam. It will need to be fixed.  You will need to patch under and then can just stitch down the torn fabric, but I don't sew and I don't have a sewing machine, so I reduce the price and let you deal with it.   It won't be perfect when done, but in this material print, you shouldn't see any problem.   If perfect, this would easily be twice this price (or more) for the quality of the goods.

Back at a time when wars were fought for humanity... not for oil or revenge.  (And that is my last political statement).  Anyway... it was a time of when we learned how to make do with what we had, and the person who put this together was ahead of his time!!!  A vintage 1940s burgundy / brown / platinum bowtie was cut to allow for the insertion of two small lightbulbs (one clear, one red) and this was all attached to a small D-cell battery which I was told when I purchased it is dated 1945/Navy Issue.  I haven't taken the battery of of the cardboard sleeve to check. The wearer could just push the brass contacts together in his pocket and wow his friends!! Does it work?  You'd have to replace the battery, check the bulbs, etc... so "not now".  But that's not the beauty of this.  Buy a new one if you want a bowtie to light up.  However if you want a piece of history....

# 7624 - c. 1940's Hollywood Black Silk Chiffon Dress Encrusted with Rhinestones and Jewels!   This gorgeous, lavish 1940s cocktail dress is an absolute eye popper and, I'm told, it came from the wardrobes of Paramount, however there are no labels inside. so that's just the story.  Certainly beautiful enough to believe it!   It has definitely been worn so MAY be found in a movie or two.... but I have no idea by whom, or which film.  Whatever its origin,  this dress has the most magnificent blinding huge aquamarine sparkling jeweled rhinestones I have seen on a chiffon dress!!   They really are incredible! This dress is heavy and as photographed all jewels and rhinestones are present (one is loose) and they are encrusted all the way around the upper rear of the dress. The skirt is also covered along with rhinestones and glass beads (a couple rhinestones missing on the skirt).  In true Hollywood glamour, this cocktail dress is beautifully made with silk chiffon which beautifully compliments the huge sparkling prong set rhinestones. "V" neckline with built in bra, "corset" bodice and gored skirt with a glamorous "v" back. It is fully lined in silk.  Replaced brown nylon zipper to the side. There are no main rhinestones missing although there are few 2mm wide ones missing from the edge which you will only see if you are staring.  The dress is EXCELLENT condition with the exception of the chiffon snags to the back upper skirt and upper back where the rhinestones caught on fabric when stored, and other snags here and there.  The skirt also has a few seams that are slightly unstitched (not a big deal at all!).  Measures:  34/35" (perhaps 36") bust (B/C cup), up to 29" waist, up to 37" hips, and it is 50" long from shoulder to hem.

# 4720 - c. 1955 Martha Weathered (Chicago Boutique) Black Silk Taffeta Dress with Matching Button-on Shrug!  Martha Weathered had an upscale boutique on Michigan Avenue, Chicago which operated from 1922 until 1971.  “Weathered was a pioneer in the boutique fashion world,” said Emilie Stallman, curator of an exhibit at Loyola University. “She was an importer, not a designer. Her role was to select fashions from overseas, primarily from France, and make them available here at her shop.  Prior to importers such as Weathered, upper class women would go overseas, on what was called a Grand Tour, to buy fine designer clothes. With the opening of local boutiques, women were able to buy ready-to-wear and custom-made clothing without the European visit."  Yup... that just about sums it up.  Martha Weathered’s clothing was high-fashion and high-quality.  This dress is no exception.  Very Dior in look. Great unique neckline and seaming with decorative buttons down the front of the black silk taffeta dress.  Then comes the matching original shrug which is buttoned on to the decorative buttons at dress bodice!!  Will look better with arms (damn mannequin is armless.... as well as a drunk... as in one of the side photos she can't even stand up straight!).  Excellent condition.  Back metal zipper. Measures:  33" bust, 25" waist.   Actual Christian Dior c. 1954/1955 dresses below for comparison:

# 7670 - c. 1990's MOSCHINO COUTURE, Made in Italy Black Lightweight Wool "Sewing Hardware" or "Safety Pin" Embellished Zip Front Jacket!  Moschino lovers will know that this jacket also came in a lesser quality Cheap & Chic version, but this is the creme de la creme COUTURE version with much more hardware, and many more zippers.  Silver snaps, safety pins, hooks, zippers with "O" ring pulls, and a few Swarovski crystals for good measure.  Outstanding!  The design features signature Moschino symbol motifs of the Peace Sign and the Question Mark.   The sleeves have zippers that open, and there are two diagonal zippers on the bust, and ones at the pockets... but even more surprising is the one at the side BACK!  And yes, it actually zips!  Definitely unique!  MINT CONDITION!  With original hang tag still attached to zipper pull. Labeled size 12 USA.  I think it's more a 10/12 today.  Don't hesitate!  And just think... if you need a safety pin , hook or snap at some point for something else you own... you will know where to find one! :) LOVE LOVE LOVE!!!!

# 7503 - c. 1930's RUTH McCULLOCH, Hubbard Woods and Evanston Embroidered and Beaded Ecru Velvet Bolero Jacket!  According to the EWHP website:  "Ruth McCulloch opened her first shop in Evanston in 1937, expanding to stores in Hubbard Woods and Northbrook.  Specializing in American fashion designers, her stores were finely furnished and offered a "genteel" shopping experience.  Her fabulous logo, with the 1930s image of a young woman in a broad-brimmed hat, did not change through the years."  Damn I love that logo!!!  And I love the bolero! Meant to be worn open at the front, just a decorative piece to wear over your slinky 30s gown... OR I suppose this COULD be an early 1960s piece.  Hard to know for sure.  Nothing gives it away.  But the paisley design, the colors, the trim, the shape... I'm still going with 30s.  More info coming:

# 7615 - c. 1980's ANDREA ODICINI, Made in Italy / Giorgio Beverly Hills Fuchsia Jacquard Silk Dress!   Andrea Odicini is absolutely revered and is considered by Italian women who know couture to rank along side, or even above, Valentino (even HE is known to pay Odicini great homage)!!  His creations were/are absolutely coveted... although he is not well known outside of Italy. From a wealthy Genoese family, he was able to pick and chose his clientele. If he did not like you, or if he thought that you did not understand fabrics and construction, he would not design for you! When he moved his atelier from Rome to Genoa, many women would journey to Genoa just to buy his creations because no one could equal his collections.  In the 1980's, he finally agreed to make a ready-to-wear line, but his creations were still ultra costly.   I LOVE the fact that the dress has the Andrea Odicini "Made in Italy" label, and yet the other label reads: "Made in France for Giorgio Beverly Hills"!  Guess those people at Giorgio didn't have a Made in Italy label handy! :)  You DO know Giorgio's... don't you?  It was "THE" boutique in Beverly Hills.  Top labels. Top prices!  And if you know Andrea Odicini you will know the quality.  Beautiful dress.  I always loved Ungaro dresses from the 1980's.  Now I know what designer they were copying.  The bodice has a high turtleneck that can be worn up or down (I show it both ways) with buttons on the side.  Long cuffed batwing sleeves. High wide waistband.  And then, well then comes the unique and wonderful double layered skirt with asymmetrical "scarf". Check it out from all sides!  FAB!  Back zipper. Excellent condition and the best jacquard fuchsia silk.  Labeled Size 42 (but that's old sizing). Measures:  35/36" bust, 25/26" waist, up to 39" hips, 23" long from natural waist.  Shoulder pads are gone.  Looks great without them!!  Compare to Valentino prices today for a silk dress... would have easily cost over $5000 today!!!

LOVE the detail rose at the bustline.  The gold metallic thread can look more silver in certain lights, and gold in other lights.  Measures:  33/34" bust, up to 28" waist, 54" long from shoulder to hem.  Excellent condition.

# 11235 - c. 1957-1964 EDWARD ABBOTT Wilson Folmar Black Silk Chiffon Dress with Attached Draped Scarf and Ostrich Feathers! This can be dated as (according to Vintage Label Resource), Wilson Folmar was the designer for Edward Abbott from 1957-1964.  So... gotta be from those years.  LOVE this dress! Strapless with gathered bodice (very Jean Desses!) and straight skirt... but then comes the attached half-circle chiffon scarf the drapes dramatically at the back.  And then the uniqueness of this dress is the black ostrich feathers dangling at lower back skirt!!!!  Now sadly two of these ostrich feathers are missing... but easily replaced.... I just don't have the time... ever!  So... that makes the price lower for those of you happy to do the replacing on your own.  You will find tiny holes where those feathers were sewn on... so you will know exactly where to attach the replacement feathers. Otherwise great condition with just slight pulls in fabric and hem could use a stitch or two. Metal zipper. Would be priced at $585 if perfect.  So if I get around to dealing with the feathers myself... expect the price to go up!  Measures:  up to 37" bust, up to 28" waist, up to 40" hips, 27" long from waist to hem..

# 7638 - c. early 1960's Gold Lame Floss Woven Bodice and Black Rayon Dress! I love this look!  Simple, classic shape with the "pop" of that gold lame floss bodice (see close up photos).  And then that unique waistline to give almost a "petal" effect.  Wide scoop neckline.  Sleeveless.  Perfect.  This was a moderate line dress sold at department store.  Sadly no label except the original paper manufacturing label.  Metal zipper back. Measures: up to 38" bust, up to 28" waist, up to 39" hips, 38" long from waist to hem.  There is NO give to this fabric, so you should have smaller measurements than above so you can breathe, walk and sit.  ;)  Oh, and due to the fabrication, the bodice will need the occasional "haircut" to keep it looking great.

# 11153 - c. 1970's CARLOTA ALFARO, San Juan, Puerto Rico Nude Beaded Gown! This gown came to me from the estate of a woman who wore only the best.  Ms. Alfaro is a top high fashion designer specializing in haute couture, and is known as "Puerto Rico's grande dame of fashion" and was sold in Neiman Marcus, Bloomingdales and Saks Fifth Avenue back when those stores were the most fashionable!  So you have to know that this woman spent quite a bit of money on her gowns.  Especially the ones she wore at the Captain's Table when on cruises with her husband... and this was one of those.  She dressed many a pageant contestant, and perhaps one of her most famous gowns is the "chain" gown which helped Ms. Puerto Rico to win Miss Universe in 2006 (and WHAT a gown that was!!)   Her gowns easily sold for $10,000, and are couture (meaning individually designed and created)... hence the needle on her label!  This gown is similar to a nude Bob Mackie with the beading covering the possible exposed skin under netting.  However, this gown is lined where it needs to be...  so no need to worry!  The detail of the way it closes at back is quite unique with buttons that curve around the design.  Might need a seamstress to revamp the back waist closure (currently has velcro!) with a few extra hooks/eyes or something, but that's not much of a problem (unless you are all thumbs like me who can't sew on a button!).  Measures:  up to 35" bust, up to 34" waist, up to 40" hips, 51" long from shoulder to hem.  Not a form-fitted gown, but gives the illusion of such with the beading.

# 11281 - c. vintage Mariachi or Charro Jacket! One of the Best I've seen!  You can find these soutache embroidered Mexican jackets at all price ranges.  But some just jump out at you screaming "I'm the best".  This one did just that.  Hiding behind another similar jacket that didn't hold a candle to this one.  Even the toggles are made of bone, not plastic or something else. And the special detail is the red material inside the pockets that just pop!  Black vertical ribbed wool.  Fully lined.  The most fascinating thing is that if you look very closely, you will see what looks like the remainder of paper under the soutache so the embroidery looks like it was hand assembled from a pattern placed on the jacket.  I have really no idea of the era.   Could be 1930's.  Could be 1960's.  I don't think it's newer than that.  Just seems to be of the quality only seen in older pieces. Interior pockets in the lining. Shown on the mannequin with 35" bust. You will NOT be disappointed by the quality of this piece.

I have a Mugler white jacket in my closet that I will not part with! You may feel the same way! Mugler suits originally sold for thousands of dollars. # 7337 - c. 1980's JACQUELINE de RIBES Black Silk Horizontal Stripe Dress with Rhinestone Ornaments!  There are times I wish I had "touch-o-vision" on this website.  The silk on this dress (both the lining as well!) is just SOOOOO luxurious!  They just don't seem to make fabrics like this anymore.   In July 2011, Vanity Fair Magazine voted Jacqueline de Ribes as one of the "International Best-Dressed Hall of Fame" recipients. She married to become a Countess and was well known as a style maker long before she became a designer. In 1983, the year she started her design firm, Town and Country magazine named her the “Most Stylish Woman in the World.”  Her line was luxurious, expensive and was well received, especially in the USA Her dresses sold for thousands of dollars when new, so no surprise that this has the "hand" it does.  Love the way the closures are hidden.  The zipper is actually in the pocket of the skirt, and then there are snaps across the waistline at front to create the wrap design.  Wide 1980's shoulders and cuffs.  Originally this dress probably had white removable collar and cuffs, as there are snaps inside, but they are no longer with the dress.  I love it without.  Don't miss them at all. # 7365 - c. 1980's VICTOR EDELSTEIN, London Black Velvet Gown with Champagne Colored Duchess Satin Swing Jacket Trimmed and Lined in Black Velvet!  I'm sure you've seen or heard of the Victor Edelstein midnight blue velvet gown worn by Princess Diana when dancing at the White House with John Travolta in 1985.  You know, the gown that sold for (at the time) a record price.  Well, this is not that gown, but this one is similar, and from the same era.... but this one comes with a KILLER evening swing jacket to make a great entrance!!  Under is a gown equally as beautiful as Diana's... perhaps even more so due to the draped neckline at back.  PLEASE look at all the photos.  The gown has a slight fishtail, fitted drop waistline, wide nearly off the shoulder neckline.  and the only other detail is at the shoulders, with a satin trim.   There is no closure on the jacket, it's just meant to be worn as you see. I'm sure this was incredible expensive when new, and it doesn't look like it was ever worn.  Excellent condition!!!  Measures:  up to 36" bust, up to 28" waist, up to 38" hips, 44" long from natural waist to hem in front, 46" long in back. 32" long jacket. So... Diana's gown sold again for over $362,000 in 2013.  This one is less.  :) Oh, and the style is back "in"!  The red "gown" or "coat" below is by Alexis Mabille c. 2013.

# 7504 - c. 1970's/1980's JILL RICHARDS Black Jersey One Shouldered Gown! When she launched her first collection in 1970, Ms. Richards joined a small group of Los Angeles designers who helped expand the California market beyond swimsuits and shorts. She made evening gowns and special-occasion clothes in such luxury fabrics as silk, velvet and lace.  She said she learned the basics about style while working as an actress in her 20s.  Richards' client list glittered with socialites and movie stars, including Nancy Reagan when she was first lady of California in the 1970s and actress Victoria Principal in the 1980s. Richards' designs were sold at Saks Fifth Avenue and other specialty stores. Richards closed her fashion business in the mid-1990s.  This gown is probably late 1970's - early 1980's... it has the sleek 70s body-hugging shape, and yet has the 1980's large flounces.  One shouldered sexy shape!! Side zipper.  Ruched bodice.  Side slit.  Measures:  up to 34" bust, up to 26/27" waist, up to 40" hips, Tulip shape hem at front, 60" long at back. Excellent condition, however, there is a hole... it's 12" from the hem, but close to the edge. It's lined in a black fabric, but it's still seen.  So... as it's impossible to hide it in jersey, you may want to get a bit creative and scatter a few rhinestones on the gown, or applique tiny black circles and a very scattered design along that front skirt.  I'm sure you can figure a way to hide that hole and allow you to be thrilled with the fact that your body is gonna look... yes, I'm gonna say that word I hate to say as it's so overused... "amazing".  Priced to sell!!  Less than I spent to buy it!  Don't let that little issue bug you!

#5707 - c. 1965 EXTREMELY RARE Iconic André Courrèges Lunette "Eskimo" (or "Eclipse" or Slit") White Sunglasses! Museum Worthy! Unbelievable!!!   NOTE:   I've contacted a few museums to check on the authenticity of these glasses, and have found that there were a few slightly different versions (in various museums), some with the grommets, some without.  So I went on a hunt for photos to PROVE the ones with grommets are just as Original!  Check out the photos of 1960's top model Jean Shrimpton in these glasses... and, oh my GOD... artist Salvatore Dali wearing these Courreges glasses with grommets!!!! FANTASTIC!!!!!   I had not one, not two or even three... but 8 pairs of these extremely rare sunglasses of old store stock left in a box - untouched in over 40+ years!!!! (OK,  I touched one just to take the photograph and to look it over... and yes, try it on - who could resist!).  Mint condition!  IN THE ORIGINAL BOX which stamped with "Made in France" and handwritten in pencil, "8 pieces Courreges".  The glasses are each still wrapped in a plastic wrap, and laying in waiting.  Who knew they'd be waiting so long!!!   A lightweight, softish white plastic with writing on the inside of the glasses (or at least the one I opened) with a Patent number and the word "Depose" embossed in the plastic and the word "Courreges" in silver on the exterior earpiece.

I WAS selling these glasses complete in the box for one price... or each separately (as I know there will be many who don't need/want all 8 pair).  But one pair has already SOLD, so the complete box is no longer available.  But as you purchase each separately, at least you know they came from ONE previous owner and are all original to this one store stock box! I will give you a COA from Antiquedress.com stating that with a photo of the original box on that COA.

# 6803 - c. 1960's RARE Mod Designed by PALLE WIKSTROM for BEVELL, Sweden Black Plush and Black Leather Trimmed 2-piece Apres Ski Pants Suit!  From the Estate of DORIS DUKE!  If you don't know Doris Duke, you are young... otherwise you would likely have heard of "the richest little girl in the world" whose father,  a tobacco baron, died in 1925 and left his 12-year-old daughter $25 million (remember this is 1925 money... about $2 billion today!).  A few of her garments went up for auction, and I scooped this piece up!  I adore sporting pieces!!   This one is probably more of an apres ski outfit (as it's not waterproof), but certainly could have been worn on the slopes.  It's a black heavy soft plush fabric trimmed in black leather.  Zips up the front. Love the leather zip front on the pants! Leather trim on the lower legs and wrists as well.  Wear the collar up or down (probably a hook/eye missing, but that's about the only issue!!!).  I tried the pants on ... they are SOOOO soft and cuddley!!!  I didn't want to take them off.  Feels like you're wearing a teddy bear!!   Measures: up to 38" bust, 17" across back between armseams, up to 28" waist (measures 31" waist, but trying on, this seemed best), up to 39" hips, 13" waist to crotch, 43" long outer leg, 32" inseam, 25" long sleeves.  NOTE:  Doris Duke was 6'1" tall!!!!  So these are long pants!!!   Possibly made especially for Ms. Duke, as there were few women THAT tall.  Great for a display or to wear.  Excellent condition!  There is a bit of strange stitching inside the hem of the jacket, but the exterior seems to be correct, so whatever.  This Emma Peel in plush! ;)

# 7533 - c. 1980's ANDRE VAN PIER Silver Swarovski Crystals and Silver Beaded Dress!  Worn by Liza Minnelli!  Here's the sad story of Andre Van Pier, a designer who reached the pinnacle in the celebrity fashion industry in the 1980s, and died alone and broke and buried by the State in an unmarked grave in August 2008.  I'm sure at some point there will be a movie made of his life. Perhaps best known for creating Dustin Hoffman's red sequined gown for Tootsie, his clients included Princess Diana, Michael Jackson, Madonna, Liza Minnelli, Mick Jagger, Joan Collins, etc!  His crystal sequined bras (just a BRA!) would retail for $1,400 (nearly $3,000 today).  So this would have been well.. over $10,000 today??   Attached on the dress is a hand signed tag from Andre Van Pier with Liza Minnelli's name!!!  You can just image Liza Minnelli in this, but I have not yet found any photos of her wearing it. ;(   Excellent condition... maybe 7 rhinestones missing (see photo) on shoulder (you can purchase loose rhinestones online!).  Lined in striped sheer silk.  Comes with COA from Andre Van Pier/FIT as worn by Liza Minnelli.   There's nothing much more sparkly than a dress made of all silver Swarovski crystals (really Swarovski!).  I only wish I had movies imbedded in this website so you can see the sparkles as you move!  I added two photos of me in a Swarovski Crystal dress from the 1980's (worn in 2010) so you can see just how it will sparkle at your event!!!!   Sold at the Martha boutique (highend!), this dress still has the original tag attached!!  Guess Liza only wore it for a short time, and it was so expensive that it might have been retuned to the store.  Not sure.  Comes with COA from Andre Van Pier/FIT as worn by Liza Minnelli, along with the Andre Van Pier hand written and signed tag!! Measures:  up to 35" bust, up to 34" waist, up to 38" hips, 36" long from shoulder to hem.  Also Listed in the LIZA Category.

# 7487 - c. early 1990's ST. MARTIN+ by Jeanette "PEACE" Beaded, Sequin and Pearl Bolero!  I hate selling this!  I know... but highly beaded pieces are my guilty pleasure!!  Especially ones that are as much a piece of artwork as a garment.  I'm assuming some of you have the same passion. In 1993, Jeanette Kastenberg created Warner Bros. sequined evening jackets which sold for $2,000!!!  (I know from the 1993 article in New York Magazine). This is equally as beautiful (if not more) than those jackets.  Every square millimeter of this jacket is covered with sequins, beads, pearls in incredibly intricate design... with the word "PEACE" seen 4 times... front, back and sleeves. Near MINT condition.  I don't know how she does it, but these beads/sequins just don't seem to fall off!  Guess that's one of the reasons for the original high price tag.  I have another up for sale with a modern art theme.  This one is obviously multicolored and will match pretty much any color you want to wear with... or pair with jeans for an evening out.  Closes with hooks/eyes at front.  Measures:  up to 34" bust (will fit 35" just), 18" long from shoulder to hem.  Shoulder pads (but they aren't jarring). # 7532 - c. 1980's ANDRE VAN PIER Silver Sequin Sexy Statuesque Slit Gown!  OK... for your big night out... when you KNOW you just want to knock 'em dead! I guarantee you won't see anyone else in a gown like this!  If you don't know Andrew van Pier, he was a top celebrity designer of the 1980s.  Sadly, his career was short lived, perhaps due to the lowering of quality... well, that's my theory anyway... only because I have some of his TOP quality, obviously originally very expensive pieces (a few I have for sale were worn by Liza Minnelli... and others were worn by the likes of Madonna, Michael Jackson, Mick Jagger, etc. )... and then I have this gown, which is not of the top quality you might expect from Mr. Van Pier... even though I assume this gown was still quite expensive when new.  Sold at the Martha boutique (highend!), this gown still has the original tag attached!  So it was never worn.  It's labeled TALL, which is true!  The entire gown is covered with flat silver sequins and trimmed in a thin silver material that resembles leather from a distance. There is a LONG slit up the front leg and very thin spaghetti straps.  You'll need a great body, and/or great low bra for this gown.   Measures: 35/36" bust, 26"- 30" waist, 36"- 42" hips (stretches!), 63" long from shoulder to hem.  Excellent condition, but with most sequin pieces, some sequins have fallen off (see the last few photos to see the 2-3 worst)... you can easily replace (or have a tailor do it) by using the many sequins left inside the seams. There is no sequin problem at the front mid-bodice... you're just seeing a light reflection. Comes with COA.  Dress like a female mirror ball! :)

This is equally as beautiful (if not more) than those jackets.  Every square millimeter of this jacket is covered with sequins and beads in incredibly intricate design... in what I have to assume is inspired by Joan Miró's paintings.  Near MINT condition.  I don't know how she does it, but these beads/sequins just don't seem to fall off!  Guess that's one of the reasons for the original high price tag.   I have another up for sale with a PEACE theme...    This one is a white sequin background with iridescent yellow, red, and blue sequins with black bugle beads creating the lines. Wear for a gala affair with ballgown, or with jeans for an evening out.  Closes with snaps at front.  Measures:  up to 35" bust, 18" long from shoulder to hem.  May have had shoulder pads, but they aren't there now, and aren't missed. So you adore the white jersey ruched gown above, but don't want to spend that much?  Or you don't need/want to wear white?  Well... here's your alternative!  A dark navy blue jersey ruched gown with slightly off the shoulder neckline and criss-crossed ruched bodice ending in a wonderful drape down the front of the gown.  If you look very closely at the fabric (especially seen in the back photos) you will see a light striping in the fabric which goes in a horizontal pattern in the back and diagonally at the front.  You won't see it at all under most lights.  The fabric also has a bit of a sheen to it.  Back zipper. The 24" long jacket is open at front, meant to be worn as you see.  Padded shoulders.  You can just image Liza Minnelli in this, but I have not yet found any photos of her wearing it.  Excellent condition... maybe 10 beads missing throughout the whole thing!  Both lined in striped sheer silk.   Comes with COA from Andre Van Pier/FIT as worn by Liza Minnelli.    Also Listed in the LIZA and Memorabilia Categories.

# 7326 - c. 1950's White Linen Dress with Sheer and Lace Bodice and Cap Sleeves! Larger Size! I'd kill for this to fit me!  Ok... perhaps that's a bit extreme, but you larger gals (and when I say larger, I mean those who don't have the vintage size 2 bodies!), lucky you!  Measures:  41" bust, up to 32" waist, up to 40" hips, 26" from waist to hem, and seems to be a bit long waisted (so you short-waisted gals should likely need to know this). White linen dress with seamed waist and Va-Va-Voom "Jessica Rabbit" bodice topped with so pretty white lace flowers on a sheer nude yoke - so from afar you will look ...well... I think you can figure that out.  And then it makes those white cap sleeves look like they are floating in mid-air!!  What a great design!!!  There is a opaque nude fabric to cover the breasts so you don't have to worry about showing too much. But you will need a low-back bra with nude or sheer straps. Back metal zipper.  Excellent condition BUT you will see in the second to last photo that there is a bit of very light yellowing down the sides of the dress.  I didn't see that under I photographed the dress under the bright lights.

# 11111 - c. 1950's SOPHIE ORIGINAL, Saks Fifth Avenue Black Textured Silk Swing Coat with Bright Green Lining!  Originally hired as a stylist for Saks by Adam Gimbel, in 1929 Sophie was asked to take over the Salon Moderne of Saks Fifth Avenue.  In her role as lead fashion designer, she often traveled to Paris to purchase clothes from designers. She married her boss, Adam Gimbel in 1931.  Salon Moderne was not particularly successful or prestigious prior to her arrival. but Sophie designed costumes for Broadway to generate interest and bring in new business. She created many ready-to-wear fashions and is credited with introducing culottes (divided skirts) to the American market.  Gowns designed by Gimbel were known for their simplicity, elegance, and use of expensive fabrics.  She designed elegant haute couture dresses and gowns for an exclusive clientele, including a red coat and dress for First Lady, Lady Bird Johnson  to wear at Lyndon B. Johnson's 1965 inauguration.   Great dinner coat of a fancy textured black silk in a great swing style!  Patch pockets and a collar to wear up or a bit more open.  Very good to Excellent condition... the only issues are inside... there are some yellowish minor spots on the electric green lining (see photos).... and needs a pressing!  Measures:  up to 48" bust, 41" long from shoulder to hem.  3/4 length sleeves.  This is meant to be worn large, so really best for sizes 6-10.

# 6105A - c. early 1990's UNGARO PARALLELE, Paris Red and Green Plaid Suit with Asymmetrical Button Closure and Metallic Thread Accent!  I've been holding on to this one for myself.  But sadly I seem to never get out of my "at home" duds... and the few times I do, it's usually more dressy.  I would LOVE to find a place to wear this, but alas.... it's just not right for the grocery store or a trip to the post office.  :(  Quality is fantastic. As my Mother always told me... if the prints or plaids line up perfectly, that is the sign of the best quality as they discard lots of fabric to make this work!   And indeed check it out.  Gotta love the interior lining as well!  Coordinated color floral print.. and it's a light soft flannel-type wool for warmth!  They just don't make stuff like this anymore.  All the modern fabrics suck (OK, I said it!).  Once you know Vintage quality, you will find it hard to buy new!   Labeled Size 8 but measures:  up to 35/36" bust, up to 27/28" waist (if you move a button), up to 36" hips, 20" long skirt.  Excellent condition with the only thing to note that the buttons were all re-sewn on probably not as neatly as originally.  That's a $5 fix at the local tailor! :)  Check out the great fabric in the close-up photos!! Ooh and the great wide patch pointy pockets.  Wear that jacket alone with anything, and wear the skirt alone as well!   Pair with floral blouse to be incredibly in vogue!

# 6335 - c. 1950's MOYGASHEL Irish Linen Beaded Dress!  Hard to believe what they claim on the label, but it's incredibly true!!!  "Fast Colors -  Crease Resistant Irish Linen".  Come on... linen that doesn't wrinkle? Really?  YUP!  This stuff is fabulous.  Looks and feels exactly as you expect linen should, but doesn't wrinkle!! ;)  It's a miracle. And it takes a lot to impress me! :)  Top designers of the day used Moygashel linen, including Pauline Trigere, so it impressed more than just me.  Lovely red (blue undertones, so it's a perfect color red that looks great on everyone) "fitted" dress with "v" collar covered in white and black seed beading. Love a side zipper to keep the back as "clean" as the front.   Measures:  Up to 40" bust, up to 27" waist, up to 41" hips, 45" long from shoulder to hem. Metal zipper on side.  One pocket. Excellent condition.  The dress you'll go to in your closet again and again.  Wanna get creative? Wear a thin, long sleeved turtleneck sweater under for cooler weather!  Add a belt for a different look. Throw a jacket over so just the "skirt" shows.  Whatever!

# 7557 - c. 1942-47 MERCANTILE UNIFORMS, New York WWII "Gray Lady" Complete Red Cross Uniform /American Red Cross Volunteer Outfit!  AKA Hospital and Recreation Corps Uniform!  I had three very similar gray lady uniforms with hats  This is the last one available.  PLEASE NOTE:  This one does NOT have the RED CROSS on the hat!!!  Just Plain white at front.  This dress has the extra red cross Volunteer enameled pin as well as another red cross Home Nursing enameled pin.  Nearly complete outfit (all you'll need are shoes!) and in extraordinarily fantastic condition!  A gray and white thin striped cotton dress and additional pieces of the white epaulets, gray matching belt and cap are all separate pieces that luckily were not lost over the years.  Red Cross on breast is sewn on.  American Red Cross Volunteer patch is also sewn on the one arm.  The cap has buttons at back to create the hat shape, otherwise it lays flat for easy transport.... you wouldn't want to have to transport a hat box on the front lines! :)  I sold three others recently, but just love them either for history sake, or heck, for "naughty" nurse games! :)  (Sorry, I just felt compelled to write that.... I'm sometimes possessed!)  The mother-of-pearl buttons on the dress are fantastic as well.... as you can see they are easily removable for cleaning!  This dress has one button removed at the shortened waist that is UNDER the belt, so not seen.  The LABELED SIZE 16 dress measures: up to 38-40" bust, up to 34" waist, up to 44" hips, 43" long from shoulder to hem (plus 3" extra in hem, and 1" extra shortened at waist - just basted so can easily be undone).  Love the fact that it's labeled size 16!  Ha HA!  How vain ARE we today that a size 16 is now labeled about a size 10.   Info on "Gray Lady" is listed with the rest of the photos (if you want a history lesson). Also this is dated after 1942 as that was the year they removed the veil from the cap.  This is a great example of complete outfit!  Worn and used during WWII era!

# 11065 - 1970's Printed Floral Cotton Maxi Dress! From a People Magazine article of 1975:  "When America's First Lady, Betty Ford announced in 1974 that, as her small contribution to the battle against inflation, she would no longer spend money on expensive designer clothes.  However as a devotee of stylish clothing, Mrs. Ford searched for a compromise. Luckily she spotted several designs by a young American designer named Albert Capraro in a Washington newspaper. Impressed by his price range - a moderate $80 for day dresses ($ 320 today with inflation calculator), and up to $200 for evening gowns ($800 today), by his use of American fabrics only, and the attractiveness of the designs themselves, she summoned the 31-year-old, New York born unknown to the White House to sound him out on her spring wardrobe. Opening her closets to show him clothes she liked best, she singled out two Oscar de la Rentas. To their mutual surprise, both had been designed by Capraro himself back when he was a De la Renta assistant.  By the end of the visit, Mrs. Ford had ordered 12 styles from Capraro. With the exception of five evening gowns Capraro will make up especially for state dinners—using fabrics the President brought from the Far East—all her clothes will be off-the-rack selections, and will cost regular retail prices."  So... clothing good enough for a First Lady!  You deserve no less.  I have often found myself drawn toward Capraro, and this dress would be even nicer if I had added a petticoat under to give it a bit more of the "peasant" look that was so popular back in the 1970s. Hopefully you are smart enough to imagine it. The material is a medium/heavyweight woven cotton (not as heavy as denim) of hot pink, green, blue, white, pink all on a black background.  Love the floral hemline! Back zipper.  Measures:  35" bust, up to 27" waist, 53" long from shoulder to hem.  No give in fabric.  Labeled an old size 10.  Ha! Could even wear it with a blouse under! Was probably worn with a pretty pink sash belt, but none come with it. Easy to just use a ribbon if you want.  Excellent condition. Pretty, and looks great on!

# 5822 - 1980's Yellow Ruched Silk Strapless Party Dress! There is little I have to say about this dress other than I look lousy in yellow... but I love it on others.  So sad. I also look lousy in gold, and still I wear it.  I keep hoping I look better than I think I do, but then I see photos and wonder WHY!! But then I see Renee Zellweger or some other star wearing yellow and try it on again... only to discover that it's a constant for me.... I need to stay AWAY from yellow.  But enough about me. If you love Jean Desses all ruched dresses, you should love this look.  Measures:  35/36" bust, up to 30/31" waist, up to 39" hips, 23" long from natural waist to hem.  Hidden zipper at the back with inner lining. # 7509 - c. 2000's RALPH LAUREN (Black Label) Wonderful Multicolored Silk Crepe Chiffon Halter Dress! One of the prettiest fabrics!!!!!  Just type in Ralph Lauren Black Label Dress in Google and you will see that this is likely a $1,300+ dress original price!  I don't know exactly when it was created.  Doesn't matter as I sell beautiful dresses from 1800's through Today.  I don't like to sell too many newer pieces, but come on... who could refuse this??  Labeled size 6, and that's about right today so it can't be too old... and the zipper is a new style hidden at the side.   Measures:  up to 36" bust, up to 28" waist (can be wrapped to be smaller), 49" long from shoulder to hem.  2 layers of blues, purples, pinks and yellow silk crepe chiffon in a very muted plaid over a light blue lining/slip.  The belt wraps around from the halter so you can tie in front, or in back or whatever you want. Near Mint condition.  The only thing to mention is that the skirt lining is slightly longer than the ruffle-y chiffon hem in areas.  Don't know if this is original, or if it just happened from being on a hanger, but for those who care about this.. just takes a quick stitch to raise the hem a smidge.  Should cost no more than $10 at your local tailor.    I'm still considering keeping this dress for myself!!!!! She used to wear that "sailor" collar and bow ties all the time!!  In July 2011, Vanity Fair Magazine voted Jacqueline de Ribes as one of the "International Best-Dressed Hall of Fame" recipients. She married to become a Countess and was well known as a style maker long before she became a designer. In 1983, the year she started her design firm, Town and Country magazine named her the “Most Stylish Woman in the World.”  Her line was luxurious, expensive and was well received, especially in the USA.  OK.. first thing you need to know about this dress is that the zipper is hidden IN THE FRONT! Great dress to wear if you need a quick change! :)  Black velvet with black satin trim.  The dress has shoulder pads, and additional shoulder pads between the double collar to make sure it stands out as you see.  Excellent condition.  Measures: up to 36" bust, up to 31" waist, up to 39" hips. I sold another Jaqueline de Ribes dress that I found the original ad for the dress at $7,000 when new in the 1980s!!!   So just to give you a clue as the value of this label!

# 7091 - c. 1949-1952 3-Piece HATTIE CARNEGIE ORIGINAL for Neusteters, Denver Navy Wool Gabardine Suit with Silk Duck Print Blouse with MATCHING Jacket Lining! Museum Deaccession!  A Hattie Carnegie Original, mind you!  I'm gonna suggest you go look at the photos first so you can see the wild pink, red and white silk blouse of wacky ducks under the jacket which matches the lining of the jacket!  QUACK!!! I just love when items stay together for 60+ years!  The blouse has ties that can be worn as you see, or in a bow, or tucked inside (I show all 3 ways.  The jacket has slightly stiffened bust and hips to keep shape (!), cuffed 3/4 length jacket sleeves, long straight skirt, peplum jacket, fantastic and unique collar notching (see photo), interesting seaming design under the collar (see photos), and great shaping in the jacket (see photos of seaming).   Skirt has side metal zipper.  The suit is Excellent condition.  The blouse has some minor underarm staining, obviously not seen unless you take the jacket off, and even then, it's minor (see photos).  Measures: up to 36" bust, up to 26/27" waist (the blouse waist seems smaller, so you might need to move a button, and/or there is extra material to increase waist), up to 38" hips, 36" long skirt from waist to hem.  Possibly best for a shorter gal (great on me at 5'2") as it seems a bit short shoulder to waist.

# 7395 - c. late 1980's LEI di LANCETTI Black Silk Taffeta with Black Velvet Trim! OK... Thanks to my favorite fashionista, I've been told that "Lei de Lancetti is the ready-to-wear line from Pino Lancetti who was one of the greatest Italian fashion designers. Not well known outside of Italy/Europe, but within, he was considered to be one of Italy's great greats!  One of his most important clients was Queen Noor of Jordan. The Lei di Lancetti line was launched in late 80's/early 90's. His haute couture pieces were 'to die for'."  So... I guess I have a pretty damn good eye to pick up this dress not knowing the designer! :) I bought it because I adore 80's Valentino and YSL and this just has that look to me. I added the belt sash (but doesn't come with it - it's just a black ribbon).  As "poufy" a dress as you'll find!  Probably best for a tall gal to carry the width and horizontal lines.  But damn she's gonna look fantastic!!   Excellent condition.  No closures other than the fancy buttons up the back of the neck. Will fit just about any size.  A beautiful piece.

# 4747 - 1950's HATTIE CARNEGIE Black Silk Dress with Original Jacket! Hand-Written Label Under!  I love it when you get TWO pieces in one!  You get the great simple black silk dress with "just barely there" sleeves and wide "barely there" tiny collar... the perfect LBD to show off your accessories.  But if you want a different look, add the jacket and it looks like you are wearing a suit with skirt!  I'm thinking this could be dated 1952, which means it might have been designed by Gustave Tassell who was designing for Hattie Carnegie until 1952.   But, just a guess on my part.  Whoever designed it, it's great.  The detail on the upper jacket is what "makes" it.  Check it out in the photos.  Excellent condition. Measures: up to 37" bust, up to 28" waist, up to 39" hips, 17" long from shoulder to waist, 26" waist to hem (with additional 3.5" in hem... looks like it was hemmed up twice).  Jacket measures:  up to 38" bust, up to 29" waist. Side metal zipper.  There are minor seam stitchmarks at the sides as it looks to have been enlarged ever so slightly.  Gotta love the steel blue lining of the jacket!!!  Classic Carnegie Blue!!! :)  I could be wrong, but I'm thinking there might have been a bow at the collar of the jacket.  Damn me for even bringing it up, but I like to tell you everything I'm thinking, otherwise I won't be able to sleep at night.  Great price for these two pieces because I bought it right!  Lucky you!!

# 7399 - c. late 1950's/early 1960's Marguerite Shop, Framingham White Linen Dress with Floral Sequin Bodice Yeah, I know... white linen VINTAGE is usually impossible to find in near mint condition without any yellowing, or darkening, or graying, or whatever. So imagine my surprise to find this dress that looks practically new condition!!  And you gotta love the style as well, with that fantastic sequined floral bodice, and all trimmed in a band of red linen.  Low "v" back and fairly low rounded front.  Even the sides have an interesting shaped "v" at the bottom of the bodice... giving the impression of a two-piece outfit (sequined shell over linen skirt), but no... it's a dress.  I added the simple red material sash and tied in a bow just to show you options... it doesn't come with the dress.  Again...  Excellent condition!  Measures: 34" bust, up to 28" waist, up to 37" hips, 40" long from shoulder to hem.  Metal zipper at back.  What's not to LOVE in this dress??

# 7095 -  RARE July, 1959 FONTANA, Roma, Made in Italy Dress and Matching Jacket of Nubby Blue Silk/Wool Blend! This outfit came from a museum deaccession with the museum tag reading:  "July, 1959 Italian, Fontana of Roma suitdress of bright navy silk/wool nubby fabric.  Purchased while on a fashion fabric tour of Europe in 1959.  Purchased while visiting Fontana (Booklet with Gift Receipt Form).  Donated by Fran Hutchings."  I just love having the absolute dating of an item!  This outfit doesn't have the "wow" factor of many of the items on my website... but instead is subtly fantastic due to the unique styling... especially the front waistline of the dress, the interesting shoulder tucking and the unique lapels on the jacket.  More info coming.... but Excellent condition with just minor dirt line at jacket collar inner edge (not seen when worn).

# 7362 - c. 1990's ESCADA Soft Black Empire Waist Tank Dress with Matching Coat Both Edged in Triple Paillettes!  OK, I'm guessing this is 1990's as it has that simple elegance look of that decade, but could be newer.  I'm better at dating Victorian items than newish pieces! Now, the photos will show you just how wealthy this Spring outfit looks... but the original price tags will show you just how wealthy you had to have been to purchase it new!!  $2,200 for the coat, and $1,200 for the dress!!  Yes, $3,300 for this outfit! OK, it's beautiful... but still that seems a bit excessive to me.  So if you can handle just two hard to find paillettes missing, and ever so slight (really! look at the photos!)underarm lightening on the dress, you will adore this outfit!  Measures: 33/34" bust, up to 28" waist, up to 36" hips. The material is a waffle silk/wool blend??  Not sure of the material but that's what it feels like. Fairly lightweight... great Spring outfit at over 75% OFF!!  Whoo Whoo!!!

# 7154 - c. late 1950's/early 1960's  "Le Papillon " (The Butterfly) Cotton Dress!  This is one of those dresses that I thought about keeping myself, and although I wear many 1950s vintage dresses, this is the first that I felt was better suited to someone a bit younger (than me at 56) :( .  Perhaps it's just that it is SOOOOO sweet!!  Achingly sweet!  Slightly off-white cotton completely covered with printed light blue butterflies with the black script writing out The Butterfly and Le Papillon (French for butterfly). Measures:  33/34" bust, 27/28" waist, 34" hipline (at 3.5" below natural waist), 44" long from shoulder to hem. Metal zipper at back. Excellent condition, though missing the original belt (but frankly I like without any... so you just need to remove the belt loops).  The only fit issue is slightly small armholes... so best for thin arms, or open the seam below the arm and create more of an open cap flutter sleeve!

I show in one photo with just a ribbon as a belt (doesn't come with it), but I like to define my waist.   Back zipper.  Measures: up to 38" bust, up to 31" waist, up to 42" hips, 34" long from shoulder to hem at shortest, 45" at longest. # 7291 - c. 1930's Black Silk Jersey Evening Gown Trimmed in Black Bugle Beads! The price of this gown will give you some idea of the quality of this piece... as there is no label or any other way for you to know.  I can explain all I want, but it's in the handling of this gown that proves the point... and that's the one thing you can't do over the internet (OK, you can't smell it either, but that's of no consequence here, so...).   The material is a heavy silk jersey that gives this gown the movement of the wonderfully tailored "mermaid" skirt which Ginger Rogers would have loved!  In the last photo, I show the skirt with a hoop slip under so you can see just how full it is at the hemline.  Then the bustline, straps, hemline and wide front "belt" is all trimmed in black bugle beads in decorative designwork.  Snaps at the side. Excellent condition with one teeny tiny exception of one teeny tiny pinhole on back upper skirt.  See photo.  It's SOOO easy for an expert to reweave or hide just by wearing or backing in black, but I want you to know it's there. Side snaps.  If you have only one 1930s black gown, this is the one you should have.  Measures: 35" bust, up to 28" waist, up to 34/35" hips, 57" long from shoulder to hem. Also Listed in 185-1930s Category.

# 7329 - c. 1950's H. Liebes, San Francisco Red Silk Chiffon Bubble Dress with Bubble Train!  I had never heard of H. Liebes department store in San Francisco... but I Google searched and found that they closed in 1970.  Too bad if they sold gems like this wonderful "Lady in Red" dress!!  Strapless red silk chiffon with empire waist and perfect red bow at front, and yards and yards of silk chiffon gathered to the bubble hem all the way around to the fabulous bubble hemmed trained back!  Check it out!!  The wind could pass right through the back.  You could probably jump out of a plane in this dress and use if for a parachute! :) :) :)  Sorry, it's late.  I get punchy.  Anyway, the dress Measures: 32/33" bust, 26" underbust (24" inner band),  33" long from top of middle bust to hem.  Metal zipper at side. Two bones at back bodice to keep this beauty up!  I want to say it's in Excellent condition as I thought it was when I got it, but in photographing I was thoroughly inspecting and found small pinholes at the upper front chiffon, and some spotting at the upper front chiffon at the other side of the front bow. Also the inner bones at back lining should be recovered at the ends. So... the price is going to be lower than it should be for this dress... even though you won't see the problems unless you are inspecting as they are totally hidden in the massive draping. But I'm very PICKY, damn it! :)

From the estate of a Long Island, New York socialite who often traveled to Paris to buy her wardrobe.  I even have one of her receipts to prove it.  She was a size 8, so most all of her pieces will fit you if you wear that same size 8.  Sadly one size too large for me.  She loved YSL, Ungaro, Givenchy, Dior, Ted Lapidus, and similar designers.  I have tons of her 1980s blouses (yet to photograph) and some of these great jackets and suits. Sort of a nehru collar. Great black buttons.  This is a cotton velvet from the classic YSL collections of the 1970s.  Excellent condition, though I see one tiny pen mark on the bodice. # 5456 - c. 1940's "Adrian" Look Wool Striped Jacket!  Nope... there is no Adrian label, but there is no label at all in this 1940's jacket.  AND it came from the collectors who had other Hollywood memorabilia pieces (Ginger Rogers, Irene Dunn, etc). But I can't prove anything, so it's just being sold as a "Gilbert Adrian look" jacket. If you know his work, you will know that he often worked with stripes and running materials in opposite directions for contrast.  OK....so now I have to tell you that it's not perfect either.  There are some small moth holes (see photos)and a slight tear in upper lining (see photo).  Wide shoulderpads, patch flap faux pockets at front.  Nipped in waist.  So, if you love it, take it to a invisible weaver to fix those two of the visible mothholes in the sleeve, and enjoy!! There is very little else to say about this. There is a size zipper, and it's lined in black silk.  Measures: 28" waist, up to 37" hip, 27" long from waist to hem.  Excellent condition with the imperfections in the fur as shown in the close-up photos. From Givenchy when it was really Hubert de Givenchy at the helm. A new Givenchy pony fur bracelet today costs over $800! And a pair of Givenchy pony fur shoes, over $1000! A current Givenchy leather skirt costs over $3,000!  Fur would be a step up from that... so you can only imagine, if you could find one, what this might sell for new.

# 7294 - c. 1960's MAINBOCHER Suit! 3 Pieces!  Linen Blend Suit with Matching Original Beaded Blouse!  Mainbocher dressed some of the world's most famous women, including the ultimate... designing Wallis Simpson's wedding dress and trousseau for her 1937 marriage to the former Edward VIII (the Duke of Windsor).  He continued to design much of the Duchess of Windsor's wardrobe, naming a color, Wallis blue, for her, and created the first strapless evening gown. In 1929/30, he established his own fashion house, becoming the only American to successfully run a couture house in Paris!  He designed expensive, elegant haute couture dresses and gowns for an exclusive clientele, and incredibly charging them for the privilege of viewing his collections!  In 1939, he relocated his business to New York and continued to design for generations of discerning women of means, including Gloria Vanderbilt who was one of the wealthiest women in the world at that time. He also designed for Broadway.  Only the wealthy could afford to own Mainbocher's understated elegence. And now, that includes YOU!  Wonderful 3-piece suit!  I guess I have to call it a light maize color.  LOVE that double notched collar!! Doublebreasted with mother-of-pearl large buttons, 3/4 length sleeves, simple skirt.  Now, I'm showing with the blouse peeking out from under, but you can tuck it in.  Just want you to see that there is a terrific beaded original matching blouse included!  See photos. And of course, as you probably know... when Heather Mills married Paul McCartney... it was the Eavis & Brown purported $25,000 gown that started Heather's family feud with Stella McCartney! # 5339- c. 1970's BILL BLASS Black Taffeta Ruffled Gown with Removable White Collar and Cuffs and White Camellia Flowers!  Please look at the close-up photos so you can see all the ruffles on this gown!  I can't find it, but I still think I once saw a vintage ad featuring this gown.   The white collar and cuffs are snapped on and so easily removable for cleaning, or to wear without.  Mr. Blass used white camellia flowers on a few of his designs... even though Chanel is most associated with that flower.  There are two white camellias, one on each cuff.  If I had to guess (which I do), I would say that there would have been another white camellia flower worn at the collar front, so you might want to buy one (you can easily find them for sale) to complete the original look.  Or don't!  Who am I to tell you what to do! :)  Measures: up to 34/35" bust, up to 28" waist, 54" long from shoulder to hem, but extra 6" hem.  Excellent condition though the collar/cuffs DO need to be cleaned.  You will find Blass gowns from this collection up to $1800!  Just sayin'!!

# 11117 - c. 1950's HELENA BARBIERI "Sabrina" / "Givenchy" Green Silk Gown! So if your favorite gown of all time is the same as mine.... the Givenchy gown Audrey Hepburn wore in the movie "Sabrina", then you will understand why I just HAD to offer this gown for sale on my website, even though the condition isn't what I would normally allow. It's all about the straight sheathe under the flowing overskirt!!!  Just makes my heart go pitter-patter. And Helena Barbieri is a great higher end department store label from the 1950s. So now to wait while you look at the photos of the problems... click on the photo at left to see... there is a wide length around the hemline that has waterspotting, and there is one area at lower side skirt that has 4 holes :(.  The only other issues are minor tiny spots of discolorations in the green silk (those are forgivable!).  As for the bodice, I'm not sure if it's meant to be worn as I've shown in most photos in an asymmetrical design (I believe that's right), but can also be worn straight across the bodice (see 5th photo of gown).  The skirt front is of a "tulip" design. LOVE this style!!!! So if you can deal with the problems....  Measures: 36" bust, up to 27" waist, 44" long.   Zipper back. So if you're a genius, you can try getting cleaned, but if that doesn't work...consider black applique design around hemline to cover the waterspots and holes. Then add black velvet ribbon to the bodice or straps or waist or something to make it all look like it's meant to be (see the others for inspiration!).  Get creative and you have a fantastic gown!

# 11680 - SPRING 1992 CALVIN KLEIN Museum Silver Lace Gown!  Same Gown as Donated to the Museum at FIT by Kelly Klein (wife of Calvin Klein!   Here are the descriptions:  "This classic lace slip dress - a nod to lingerie - integrates the sensual, feminine quality of Chantilly lace with the hard look of silver metal." OR  "The last word in sexy chic and sublime design with the combination of the corset-shaped bodice with the most fabulous shimmering steel or platinum colored metallic lace over a sheer nude lining!" No this isn't THE gown from the Museum at FIT (NYC), but it's the same gown that you will see in the museum.  Obviously special enough for it to have been donated by Calvin Klein's wife! ORIGINAL PRICE was about $2,000 in 1995!  I sold this same item as a dress some years ago and had called Calvin Klein's offices to confirm the date. Below is the gown donated to the FIT museum.  To the left is the gown for sale.  Check out all the other photos... and see the likely prototype worn by Kelly Klein at the MET Fashion Gala in December, 1991. It's a silver  metallic lace over a silk nude lining.  The lining is fairly thin, so you may even want to wear a slip under... otherwise it will wear like the one Kelly is wearing... slightly sheer.  Measures;  33" bust, up to 30" waist, up to 40" hips, 56" long from shoulder to hem in front, 60" long in back.  Also Listed in the Museum Category.

# 11477 - c. late 1930's/early 1940's Brown Rayon Print Dress with Matching Original Belt!  WEARABLE SIZE!  Dark prints are always the hardest to photograph as you can't see the details or the design due to the print... so please just look at the closeup photos to see if you can see the gathered skirt back, the draping over the front skirt, the sweet small lapel collar and the original matching belt.  I can't tell you what this print is... can't quite figure out what the designs are, but they are certainly "cool".   Like Japanese wood block print.   The old metal zipper is interestingly placed at midback... doesn't go all the way up.   Zippers were rarely seen on dresses prior to the 1940s.   Dress measures:  38" bust, up to 29" waist, up to 40" hips, 48" long from shoulder to hem.   There is minor underarm discoloration but hard to see in this print.  The belt is slightly darker (this happens all the time with vintage dresses... probably due to the glue that was used), but again, it's minor... and nice to have the original belt at all!).    As with many of these vintage rayon dresses, you might need to reinforce some of the seams just re-sewing over the current seams.  There are a few minor seams that could use it more than others.  It's about a 2 minute fix.... I just can't sew. ;)

# 7788 - c. 2000's EAVIS & BROWN, London Metallic and Silk Embroidered Ivory Silk Satin Evening Coat with Blue Rhinestones!  LARGE SIZE I have a passion for embroidered garments, so when I saw this I just about fell over.  I remember years ago seeing an embroidered Valentino coat for oh, I don't know, about $25K or so that I might have killed for (well, not really, but ...), and so when I saw this coat, I got a similar case of drooling. Ivory silk satin covered all over in floral embroidered with the occasional blue rhinestone in the blue flowers. Closes with two snaps at the waist (with faux embroidered buttons over).  Now, even though this is considered an evening coat, for those of you who understand how to be fashionable by mixing styles, this would look equally great worn over jeans.  Eavis & Brown pieces can easily run $20K, so this is a steal at this price.  There are extremely minor tiny tiny tiny (trust me) blemishes of the satin (see photos).  You will only care if someone is staring at you while holding a magnifying glass.  Measures: up to 48" bust, 40" long from shoulder to hem.  Also listed in the Furs, etc. section.

# 11280A - c. early 1990's Jeanette for ST. MARTIN  "Circus" Beaded and Sequin Bolero!  As I said... highly beaded pieces are my guilty pleasure!! This is of equal quality as very square millimeter of this jacket is covered with sequins and beads in incredibly intricate design.   Excellent condition. (with just a few minor beads missing.   I have another up for sale with a PEACE theme, and one "Miro" art theme... this one I call "circus" for that crazy guy hanging upsidedown on the shoulder!  This oneis totally multicolored to wear with black I guess to let the jacket shine. Wear for a gala affair with ballgown, or with jeans for an evening out.  Closes with snaps at front.  Measures:  up to 32" bust, 19" long from shoulder to hem. Labeled size Petite.

# 7106 - c. 1950's MARTINI Designed Black Lace Strapless Dress Lined in Pale Pink!  Comes with the Original Crinoline!  So here's your history lesson ... "Shannon Rodgers trained as an architect, and after college he left his native Ohio for New York City.   There he found work on Broadway, designing and making sets for theater productions and working as a costume assistant.   In 1932 Cecil B. DeMille saw his work and took Shannon to Hollywood to work on costumes for his movies.   During the 1930s Shannon divided his time between California and New York, where he worked as a sketcher for several fashion houses.  After WWII, he applied for a job and was hired by Jerry Silverman as the designer for Martini.  Martini was known for their Paris couture inspired cocktail dresses.  Rogers and Silverman would attend the Paris couture shows, but they did not buy styles to copy outright.   Instead Shannon focused on the details of interesting dresses, adapting a silhouette or sleeve or hem to fit their American customers’ tastes.  In 1959 Shannon and Jerry formed their own company, Shannon Rodgers for Jerry Silverman.  So.... no surprise that this dress has a Dior Parisian feel to it!  Black lace strapless dress with wide black ruches waist and black netting across upper bust, full skirt worn over the original pale pink and netting crinoline. Great lage black "bow" at back.  Back metal zipper.  Sorry, my smaller mannequin wasn't feeling well, so she got the day off, so this dress doesn't quite fit this mannequin.   I've told her many times to diet, but she won't listen!  Anyway, if you are 33" bust, 25" waist... this will fit you.  EXCELLENT CONDITION!  GORGEOUS!!!

# 7096 - c. 1950's ADELE SIMPSON Raspberry Linen Dress with Bolero Jacket!  Museum Deaccession!  First thing you should do is click on the photo at the left to see the last photo of the lining of the jacket!! Yup, it matches the silk striped bow at the front!  WILD!!!   Fantastic color linen.  Has the original belt still with the outfit (yeah!), but I guess that's what you get when you have a museum deaccession.  I should have given the skirt a bit more of a pressing.. so I apologize for that.  Please imagine the skirt with the correct slip under and pressed.  Measures:  38" bust, up to 30" waist, up to 39" hips, 41" long from shoulder to hem.  Metal zipper at back is a bit sticky, so you'll want to use a bit of graphite (or I've read chapstick works!) on that.  I'm leaving as is as it still works. Excellent condition with just a few minor hard-to-see spots (I show one) and the only real issue is the spot on the bow (which looks like something that will dryclean out).   Priced with that in mind.

# 6890 - c. 1930's MADE IN HUNGARY Cotton Gauze Bohemian Embroidered Blouse!  These blouses are known by quite a few different names:  Peasant, Folk, Hungarian, Czech, Bohemian, Boho, Embroidered, Smocked, Gauze, Ethnic,... I could go one... but whatever you call them, they are, as always, the perfect summer blouse to wear with a great pair of jeans or go total "peasant" with a long skirt.  This is one of the original older ones as you can tell from the "Made in Hungary" label.  BEAUTIFUL, vibrant colored embroidery and smocking!!  Measures:  up to 40" bust, 29-33" waist (smocked), but looks great on the 35" bust mannequin, so will fit smaller.   Excellent condition!!  Best for someone without incredibly wide shoulders.   Also Listed in 185-1930s Category.

# 6702 - c. 1970's BOB MACKIE / RAY AGHAYAN Bronze Leopard Print Lame Halter Gown with Matching Bolero Jacket Trimmed in Fabulous Fantasy Feathers at Neckline and Cuffs!   The 70's are BACK!!!  Here's some history for you. In 1963, Ray Aghayan selected Bob Mackie as his assistant on "The Judy Garland Show" for CBS. In 1969, they established a Beverly Hills boutique, Elizabeth the First (with Elizabeth Courtney) which in turn spawned the short-lived wholesale first Ray Aghayan/Bob Mackie.  So... This gown and jacket is an extremely early Mackie!!  Wow... Gold lame and silk in a leopard print.  Empire waist halter gown.  Stunning and sexy, but simple, right?  So for that Hollywood entrance, you needed something a bit more dramatic... hence the matching blouson bolero jacket trimmed in huge spotted brown and tan fantasy feathers!!!  Measures: 36/37" bust, 30" waist , up to 39" hips, 32" waist of jacket, 60" long gown from shoulder to hem.  Near mint condition... you will just need to re-tack the cuff of feathers onto one cuff.  An modern historic Hollywood early Bob Mackie piece!

Anyway, I could describe more, but I'll let the photos do all the work.  Measures:  48" around under the arms, 42" long from shoulder to hem. Merrill.  The opera star's wife?  Not sure.. but certainly could be.  I say larger size... meaning larger than more vintage pieces (which tend to be small).  Measures:  39" bust, up to 34" waist, up to 39" hips, 38" long from shoulder to hem for both.

# 7865 - c. 1940's GILBERT ADRIAN ORIGINAL Black Wool Suit Jacket with Black Velvet Trim and Flat Goldtone Decorative Buttons!   There's nothin' like a Gilbert Adrian jacket!  The design details are subtle, yet fascinating. In this jacket, you have to pay attention to see it.  Notice the sleeves... one sleeve is plain, the other is pleated, with velvet band and has the decorative buttons.  The buttons are placed on the collar and continue around the upper back below collar.  But perhaps the most unique detail is that of the pockets at front.  See the photos... you can put your hands in the pockets, but you can also put your  hands THROUGH creating something like a "handle".  So cool.  So different!!  The "v" seaming at the back is also wonderful.  The jacket is in VERY GOOD condition.  Ever so slight wear on the velvet trim at collar, discoloration of the lining only and only one tiniest pinhole at the mid-back (see photo).   About 35/36" bust, 23" long from shoulder to hem.

# 4047 - RARE c. 1967/68 PIERRE CARDIN, Paris (for the Japan Market) Red and Black Plaid Wool Babydoll Pleated Mini Dress with Knit Sleeves!  When I first saw this Pierre Cardin label with the Japanese characters, I was more than surprised.  But in researching, it seems that in 1967, Pierre Cardin was the first Western brand to be manufactured and designed specifically for the Japanese market!  Not so surprising as Mr. Cardin was the first couturier to do ready-to-wear clothing back in 1959.  He was always ahead of his time.  Got his start working at prestigious fashion houses of Paquin, Dior and Schiaparelli before establishing his own atelier in 1950.  Shown below are some other Cardin dresses from 1965 and a Mary Quant similar dress from 1967 showing the same peter pan collar.  At first look, the dress looks like a child's as it's a minidress.  But indeed, it was specifically designed for a young Japanese woman.  Pierre Cardin logo on lining.  Measures:  33" bust, up to 30" waist, up to 38" hips, 33" long from shoulder to hem.  Excellent condition (with an extreme minor elbow mark that should dryclean out.  See photo).

Please read the description above.  I was recently lucky enough to get a few of her pieces... all from prestigious high-end designer, Mainbocher.  This is a 2-piece gown (though needs to be worn with both pieces) of a feather lightweight silk matelasse fabric of a beautiful soft floral design in pastel blues and lavenders.  The tight neckline would be lovely with a triple strand of pearls (and every Mainbocher woman would have them!).  Metal zipper on the top piece.  Plastic zipper on the dress.  Measures: up to 38" bust, up to 33" waist, up to 40" hips, 54" long from shoulder to hem. Excellent condition with very minor underarm discoloration... which you aren't really sure if you are seeing it, or it's just the print... as it blends in, but look at the photos so you see what I mean.   Oh, and Lila Wallace was famous and important enough in 1949 to be on the front cover of Time Magazine!!! Comes with COA from Antiquedress.com.

# 7721 - mid 1960's NORMAN NORELL Black Wool Bengaline Dress!  So I may be wrong about the name of the fabric... I'm not an expert on that, but it's a heavy wool with heavy faille lines... so let me know if you have another name for this fabric! I'm happy to learn from you!  Meanwhile, I DO know that this is a classic Norman Norell day dress from the mid-1960's.  I saw a Norell dress of similar double-breasted design dated from Bergdorf's to 1966, as well as a double-breasted coat sketch.  So that may be correct for this dress as well.  The beauty of this piece is that it can be worn alone, or worn as a jumper with a blouse under... or even with a turtleneck sweater under for a whole different look!  Excellent condition.  Fully lined in silk. Measures:  40" bust, up to 35" waist, up to 42" hips, 39" long from shoulder to hem.  Jazz it up with the right pair of shoes or boots.

# 11217 - c. 1930's Black Crepe Gown with Rhinestones with T-Back! I know this photo just looks like a black blob, but trust me, it's an interestingly tailored gown.  Look at the close-up and lightened photos to see for yourself.  Those ties around the upper back come around and become the belt!  Cool!  Measures: up to 34" bust, up to 25" waist, up to 36" hips, 54" long from shoulder to hem (so it's for shorter gals).  Rhinestones are interspersed all over.  And that great "T" back!  Side snaps.  Excellent condition with the following exceptions:  1) There is a very light fade/spot at front of bodice middle which was likely from a pin or clip (so just use another), 2) the rhinestone buckle is needs rhinestones replaced.  But still looks fine as is, 3) as with many 1930's dresses, the seam thread has weakened over time, so best to get someone with a sewing machine to just go over all the seams.. especially at the back skirt as they have already come undone.  This is an EASY FIX.. but I don't have a sewing machine and I'm all thumbs so I would probably sew the dress to my finger!  Then I'd have blood all over your dress.  We don't want that!! ;)   Much prettier in person... as the sparkles, sparkle!     Also Listed in 1850-1930s Category.

# 4542 - c. 1980's THIERRY MUGLER, Paris Black  Velvet Dress with Original Belt!  Hey Lady Gaga.... I think this would look great on you! :)  Black velvet Thierry Mugler classic dress with "Vampire" collar (you can wear down to be a bit more sedate), open keyhole front (to show off your cleavage), original buckle back belt, wide shoulders (the shoulderpads have been removed, so you just need to replace - I just stuffed with tissue), and snap up back and cuffs ( one snap is missing, so you can steal from the top snap to match).  The only other issue is that as you se there is a slit up the front and the top of the slit is pulled... so that needs to be dealt with.  I would just applique a small diamond or triangle shape black velvet piece just to cover the mess... pretty simple repair.  Measures:  36" bust, up to 28" waist, up to 36/37" hips, 42" long from shoulder to hem.  Well-priced to reflect the couple small issues.

Comes with the original belt... and that is the only issue.. there is some fading on the belt (see photos).  You can easily wear with an old white belt for another very Courreges look... oh, and don't forget your white go-go boots!  Measures:  up to 38" bust, up to 32" waist, up to 42" hips.  You can wear this a bit larger than your measurements... doesn't have to fit tight.  These are the maximum measurements.  Priced to sell - below prices of similar Courreges dresses!!!  Thank the consignor!   ;)  Guaranteed genuine and original.

LARGER SIZE!  I love the fact that my mannequin was SO excited to wear this dress that she just couldn't stop from dancing... hence the tilted photo!!!  :)   OK, I lied.  I shot the photo late at night.  Obviously I was tired.  Anyway, it doesn't take away from the fabulousness of this dress!  Black crepe completely covered with VERY long black silk fringe all over the skirt... and the open fringe all over the separate bolero top!  You can wear with or without... or wear the bolero with something else.  LOVE the design in the fringe at the top front and back of bolero and on the waist to hip area around the skirt!!  Excellent condition.  Measures:  up to 42" bust, up to 38" waist, up to 44" hips, 60" long from shoulder to hem.  There is a very strange chopped up label inside the waist of this dress.  Could have been the original label, or someone could have just used it as some material. Don't know. Doesn't seem to be any issues, so it's unexplainable.  Also Listed in 1850-1930s Category.

OMG... then the 4 different plaids in the tiered puffy skirt!  And under each of the plaids you will see the base green/pink plaid seen on the rest of the dress.   Who would have thought you could put all those colorful plaids together and make it look so damn perfect??   Excellent condition.  The only issue is a bit of lingerie perfume from the previous owner... but I'm very sensitive to odors and this is actually a lovely soft scent. # 5746 - c. 1970's FELINE, 362 rue St. Honore, Paris, France Blue Wool Wrap Jacket Skirt Suit with Matching Faux Fur Trim! I'm trying to come up with a name for this color blue.  A deep cornflower, or a blue teal? Does anyone have a good name for me??  It's a soft, lovely blue hue (how's that?).  A wool with matching faux fur trim at collar and cuffs.  Wrap style jacket with matching and original tie sash.  The best part of the design is in the large top stitching (see photos)... very distinctive... very attractive.  Also the large flaps on the bust.  Measures: up to 34" bust, 28" waist on the skirt, 40" hips on skirt.  This is a 1970's design so it fits tight across the back and the sleeves.  That's the case with ALL 1970s pieces... as that was the style.  So just so you know.  No wide backs please.  Now since suits aren't necessarily "in"... I'm pricing for just the lovely jacket... you can wear the skirt separately or with the jacket, but just imagine that jacket with black pants or jeans, or whatever else you can imagine.   I can't find any info on Feline.  It's no longer at that address.  Love the name! :)

I sell "as is"... and a slight bit of fading of the leather trim -see photos... and the elastic at the waistline needs replacing as it's no longer elastic enough).  So... this brings the price down to well below prices of similar Courreges dresses!!!  Thank the consignor!   ;)  Guaranteed genuine and original.  Love the "v" armholes, the slit at the front bodice and the slits at the skirt sides.  Measures:  up to 36-38" bust (hard to measure as the sides are open), elastic waist, up to 41" hips, 43" long from shoulder to hem.  Priced to sell.

# 4437- c. Fall 1968 PAULINE TRIGERE Ivory Wool Gown with Wide Belt and Rhinestones!  Someone who knows fashion better than I dated this gown to Fall of 1968.  Certainly seems to match some of the fashion elements of the time.  The neck is high and futuristic, the seaming in the bodice is of the era as is the wide belt. Low slit back for a hint of skin. Obviously would have been for a wealthy woman... ivory wool!  There are a few minor issues (see photos), a smattering of tiny moth holes at the mid upper back (just wear your hair gown to cover) and the large square rhinestones on the belt are cloudy.  There are a few tiny spots the cleaner should be able to get out or lighten (see photo) and some darkening at hemline under certain lights. Measures:  35" bust, up to 32" empire waist, 53" long from shoulder to hem (short woman or wear ankle length with boots! :)

# 5072 - c. 1980's CHRISTIAN LACROIX, Paris Black  Heavy Linen Coatdress with Gold and Silver Sequins!  I know it's not something most people say, but I LOVED the 1980's clothing! I loved the over abundance of glitter and shine!  I was quite sad when the 1990's classic dull beige "Armani-style" came into vogue.  I prefer to have fun dressing up!  So yes, I tried this dress on just after photographing it and (damn it) it fits me perfectly. So do I keep it?  Do I sell it?  Since I work on my website in bunny slippers, I guess I don't need to keep it. :(   Black heavy linen dress with attached half-belt with huge goldtone buttons, large patch pockets at front, wide shoulders and lapels.  The large gold and silver sequins are scattered in freeform designs, on one sleeve.  The buttons open, but the bottom of the dress is closed at front, so it's a coatdress look, but won't swing open on you.  Excellent condition.  High-end Lacroix pink label.  Measures:  35" bust, up to 28" waist, up to 39" hips, 33" long from shoulder to hem.

AUTHENTIC - MELANIE GRIFFITH
Worn - Goya Cinema Awards in 2006

SOLD
# 7749 - c. 2006 MELANIE GRIFFITH Worn Light Blue Low Draped Gown from Elena Benarroch Boutique Store, Madrid!   Worn on November 30, 2006 for the El Camino de los Ingleses Movie Premiere at the Kinepolis Cinema in Madrid, Spain with then Husband Antonio Banderas!   A lovely, simple, sexy, elegant, gown worn by Hollywood royalty (I say that because it's now 3 generations of talented women from this family... Tippi Hedren (of Alfred Hitchcock fame), Melanie Griffith (of Working Girl fame) and now Dakota Johnson (of Fifty Shades of Grey fame).  Melanie wore this gown probably purchased when in Madrid at Elena Benarroch boutique.  The info I found on the store is "It is probably the most expensive fur store in Spain. You will be shocked by the prices. The owner is in society and friend to the richest women in Madrid."  High quality gown.  As elegant a look as you can get while still giving off that sexy vibe!  Check out the long slit in the upper back!  There is a phantom area of discoloration on the mid right skirt (see photo)... you won't see it unless under very bright lights, and the original matching belt is missing, but as it's worn draped over, you hardly see the belt that is worn... or wear without a belt ... works just as well (just remove the belt loop strings).  You can wear slightly draped up at waist, or worn straight down (see photos of both ways).  Measures:  a stretchy up to 38" bust, up to 32" waist, up to 38" hips, up to 64" long from shoulder to hem (shorter if you pull up at waist).  Also Listed in the Memorabilia Category.   Final Sale Movie/Memorabilia piece

# 7755 - c. 1950's Blue Floral Print Cotton Halter Dress!  HELLO MARILYN! :)  This is the bodice style that helped make her the sex symbol she is to this day.  That gathered bust halter with wide waistband and full skirt.  Think of Marilyn's Seven Year Itch dress in white.   Anyway, this is a vintage dress from the 1950s with heavy metal zipper up the low back.  I've shown it with and without crinoline... you can wear it either way and it will look great.  This was actually from the closet of Melanie Griffith, but as I have no photos of her in it, you will just have to take my word that is came from the same source as the other Melanie Griffith photo-documented dresses I have of hers.  Whatever.... the dress stands on its own, and is priced accordingly.   Excellent condition, though if you are a perfectionist, you will notice that the hemline isn't straight (that happens on some vintage circle skirt dresses/skirts).  You can certainly re-hem, or just leave as it is.  It's only a problem for those with OCD. ;)  Measures:  34/35" bust, 27' waist, 29" from waist to hem.   Fairly long-waisted at 17" from shoulder to waist. Great for taller gals!

# 5747 - c. 1970's ADOLFO, New York Bright Blue Wool Boucle Windowpane Suit!  Ah... Adolfo... a label that doesn't get the proper respect!  "Adolfo Sardina, best known as Adolfo, began his successful fashion career in Paris as an apprentice to Balenciaga.  American buyers admired his work and encouraged him to come to New York. In 1953 he became a designer for the milliner Emme.  In 1962 Adolfo started making his Chanel-inspired suits and his unusual evening gowns. By 1965 he started making things for the Duchess of Windsor. The first black lace dress he ever did was made for the Duchess. who introduced him to Betsy Bloomingdale, Babe Paley and then Nancy Reagan. In 1969 he was presented with a special Coty Award for his contribution to design from head to toe.  By the mid-1970's Adolfo's twice-yearly fashion shows at the St. Regis Hotel had become gathering places for the socially prominent women who favored his Chanel-inspired clothes for day and luxurious ball gowns for evening. Frequently, five or six women would show up wearing the same suit. At his last show at the Plaza, at least four women wore a jacket of checks and tweeds from his fall collection." So.... like I said... Show a little respect!  Bright blue wool boucle in windowpane design.  Jacket has gold buttons, cuff sleeves, wing collar with top stitching. Skirts have elastic waistlines. Yeah! Measures:  35/36" bust, 24" long jacket from shoulder to hem, 24" waist elastic skirt is the smallest... but you can go to 30", 27" long skirt.   Excellent condition.

# 6906 - c. early 1960's CHRISTIAN DIOR, New York Black Silk /Wool Crepe Dress with "Tuxedo Stripe" Side!  This dress is remarkably heavy for a dress that has no beading or embellishments or anything!!!  It's just THAT well made!  NOTE:  I added the bow sash as waistline (as I prefer things belted) but it doesn't come with it, and I'm not sure if it was intended to be worn with a belt.  It's just FOR ME! :)  The dress is sort of an A-line shape with wide pleats in the skirt and those unexpected black grosgrain stripes down the sides.  The mock turtleneck collar has ornamental self covered buttons as does the front of the bodice and the sleeves.   SIMPLE design by a master... Christian Dior, New York.  Excellent condition with just the most minor areas of "shine" from a too hot iron... only seen under bright lights.

# 11152 - c. early 1960's All Gold Bugle Beaded Fringed Gown! OH MY!  This gown came to me from the estate of a woman who wore only the best.  One of her other gowns (to go up soon) has the label of "Carlota Alfaro, San Juan, Puerto Rico". This gown is completely covered in millions of tiny gold bugle beads (ok, I might be exaggerating, but I'm NOT counting them!)... on the gown itself, and then those are covered with gold beaded tiered fringe!!  The gown weighs over 6 pounds!!  Fully lined. Measures:  up to 38" bust, up to 30" waist, up to 40" hips, 53" long as is, but there is an additional 5" that could be found in the hem.  Back metal zipper. There are beads missing, but you have to look very hard to see that... except for the hem where it's a bit more obvious (see photo) in one area.  However, there are loads of beads to be harvested in the hem and in the seams to make like new!  As beautiful as you think it's gonna be!
