#7022- c. 1950's MARJORIE MICHAEL Original, California Silk "LBD" with Terrific Black Bugle Bead Neckline/Straps!  Another fabulous little black dress for you!  I found three great ones (and I'm SO picky when it comes to LBD's.  They have to be unique, otherwise I find them boring.  So I give you this very fitted silk dress as simple as you can find with scoop neckline.. but then Marjorie Michael (whoever she was she deserves mention!) added these terrific black bugle beads open circles at neckline which then continue to the outer upper arms!!!  Don't try to hail a cab, but you won't need to as you will be offered rides from every man in the joint !  :)   Measures: 38" bust, up to 27/28" waist, up to 39" hips, 8" slit in skirt.  Excellent condition though missing the original belt (who cares).. it's unnecessary. #6377 - c. 1980's GIVENCHY, Paris "LBD" of Black Heavy Silk with Black Velvet Appliques!  Yowza.  Told you I bought some great little black dresses for you! How's this?  Sweet Givenchy dress with lovely "Jessica Rabbit" bustline (OK, perhaps not nearly as sexy as she wore it!), dropped waistline, fitted bodice and box pleated skirt... all edges in adorable black velvet flowers.  Faux button back just as cute as the front.   Excellent condition. The only thing that I might mention is that this might have had straps that are now gone.  Still stays up if you are the right bust size, but doesn't have a mid-bodice stay, so that's what gives me the hint. So get creative if you want.  Simple ribbon straps will do.  Halter it, or spaghetti strap it, or heck, a diagonal strap!  Or again... just wear as you see it.   Measures: 34" bust, up to 28" waist, 34" upper hip (or dropped waistline). #6568 - c. 1930's "Adrian look" Gown of Gold Sequins on Blue Cotton Netting, Made in France When I saw this gown I immediately thought of Joan Crawford's gown in the 1939 movie, The Women, with dramatic costumes by Adrian.  The costumes were SUCH the highlight of the movie that, just like the Wizard of Oz (from the same year), part of the movie is in B&W and the other part in color.  In The Women, the only part in color was an inserted Adrian fashion show. Fabulous!  Anyway, both this gown and her gown had the illusion midriff to show what appears to be skin.  Woo Woo!  Obviously this gown needs a slip under as you currently see a lot more than midriff, and it's all x-rated.  Rare slate blue cotton netting covered all over in swirling patterns in gold sequins.  Notice the surprising peplum at the front of the gown!!   I put this on the smaller mannequin as it's hard to get on (as most 30s gowns are) with just the side snaps, but I wiggled my size 6 body into this and OH MY!  SOOOOO sexy!!  So we know it will fit up to a 34" bust, 27" waist, 37/38" hips (but shown on the mannequin of 30" bust, 24" waist, 34" hips and she looks great as well).  I think this gown will go up to 36" bust, 30" waist and 38" hips.  I'm also 5'2" and it was a bit long (56" from shoulder to hem), but with high heels, pretty good. However, since this is bias, the length will be different with different bodies. Excellent condition.  One of the most exciting 1930's gowns you will see, other than in a museum.  And because it was Made in France (with the label), this cotton netting will hold up for another 80+ years!  NEW LISTING!  Also Listed in the 1850-1920s Category.

#6809A - c. early 1950's SIMONETTA VISCONTI, Roma Blouse of Multicolor Striped Heavy Cotton!   As if you didn't already know this, I like dresses better than separates.  I mean I DID name my website AntiqueDress... not AntiqueBlouse or whatever! Now granted "dress" has two different meanings here, but still... for me, it's all about the dress.  However, once in a blue moon I find a unique enough blouse to feature it alone.  And... here she is! Hard to find, Simonetta Visconti, Roma piece. Born Duchesa Simonetta Colonna di Cesaro (breathe) in Rome, Italy. She opened a studio in Rome in 1946 and signed her first collections as Simonetta Visconti. Later you will see her label as just "Simonetta". In the late 40's she had risen to the top tier of Italian designers and dressed many film stars. In 1953 she married Alberto Fabiani (another high profile Italian designer). Anyway, enough history.  Heavyweight cotton (like a light canvas weight), nipped in overblouse (side slits show it was meant to be worn as you see, likely over tight pants). Wear with or without a belt, but it's already nipped for you!  Fabulous tailoring for those stripes!  Self covered button front. Cuffed sleeves. High collar to wear up or down. Awesome! Near Mint condition. Measures: up to 37" bust, up to 28" waist, up to 40" hips, 30" long from shoulder to hem. NEW LISTING!

#6900 - c. 1951 CLAIRE MCCARDELL Clothes by Townley Blue and White Cotton (Light Canvas Weight)  Dress with Original Tie Sash!  Deaccessioned from a museum, still has the museum satin tag (see photo).  Blue and white windowpane pattern dress with short sleeves and white plastic buttons up front. Comes with the original long, 135" long flat matching sash to tie around the waist.  2 pockets at sides.  YEAH!  As terrific a Claire McCardell as you can find.  I have to say there are quite a few I don't particularly like (I know that's something I shouldn't admit outloud, but hey... I'm just here among friends, eh?).  Excellent condition with just minor darkening of shoulders and back (you'll probably wonder what I'm talking about)... and the most minor dust/dirt around inner neck.. Hardly worth even mentioning. Measures:  36" bust, up to 27/28" waist, 46" long from shoulder to hem. Museum worthy... oh wait, it WAS in a museum... so DEFINITELY museum worthy! NEW LISTING!

#7070 - c. 1960's EMILIO PUCCI, Firenze (Florence, Italy) Beaded and Sequin Embroidered Silk Button Back Top!  Museum Deaccession with Museum Tags!  Anonymous Donor - "Channel II"!  I don't know what this museum tag reading "Channel II" means, but it's interesting.  A mystery for you to solve.  So, once upon a time I was at an auction and missed the bidding on a beaded Pucci dress (which I continued to kick myself for for many many months). So getting this sequin and beaded Pucci tank top eased my pain.  Colored sequins, auroraborealis sequins, jet beads, colored auroraborealis dangling baubles, beaded buttons and lined in blue silk.  And all this in my favorite Pucci colors as well... shades of greens, lavender, blue and black. The "Emilio" signature only shows up in the fabric inside at the back. The lining is "Emilio"ed everywhere. There are plenty of beads/sequins missing, but you won't care, and if you do, you can find similar beads and put back to near mint condition.  Extreme minor runs and one nearly unseen "thumbprint" sized discoloration on bust.  These are very hard to see.  From 1 foot away, everyone will just see FABULOUS! Measures:  38" bust, up to 36" waist, 41" at hemline, 20" long from shoulder to hem. NEW LISTING!

#5367 - c. 1980's YVES SAINT LAURENT, Rive Gauche Ivory Lightweight Wool Jacket with Black Lapels!  Once you wear vintage, you won't wear anything else.  The materials are just so much better than the new junk out there.... even the newer designer labels.  Just ain't the same.  So if you want a classic YSL ivory lightweight wool jacket trimmed in wide black lapels with that  emphasis of the one black button at front and three on each sleeve.  Well, shoulder pads are back, so...  Great wide pocket tabs give a bit more interest.  Fitted shape. Seems low waisted, so best for a taller (taller than me at 5'2") gal.  Marked "38".  Excellent condition with just a hint of yellowish spot at one cuff (see photo).  Extremely clean for a "white" jacket!!  NEW LISTING!

#6322 - c. 1980's SCAASI Boutique Black Silk Diagonal Gathered Dress!  I've been lucky enough to have this dress in a long gown version and also in a peach color... so I was happy to find this as a classic "LBD". Love the tiny gathers diagonally placed to "wrap" the dress like a package.  The wide strap shoulders with wide square neckline is quite flattering on. Measures: 36" bust, up to 31" waist, up to 40" hips, 35" long from shoulder to hem. Back zipper. Excellent condition with just one small tear ONLY in the silk lining. And if you are the pickiest of picky, there is extreme minor underarm deodorant residue... hardly worth a mention, but I'm hooked up to the lie detector machine every time I write anything on my website.  NEW LISTING!

#3943 - c. 1950's MOYGASHEL, Pure Irish Linen Open Cut Work Lace Sheath Dress!  LARGER SIZE!Even Claire McCardell, Jacques Fath and I'm sure many other top designers used Moygashel Irish Linen! "Moygashel linen is known as the highest quality Irish linen one can buy.  Moygashel is a small Irish village in south Tyrone with linen mills established in 1795. It is said that Moygashel linen has a unique ingredient using the soft rainfall from the tributary streams on the Mourne Mountain to soften the flax. Vintage Moygashel fabrics from the 1940's, 50's, and 60's are so highly prized, they sell for high prices when you can find them."  This dress is an exquisitely cut out floral pattern of light blue embroidered edged white linen on an openwork background.  Nearly a work of art on it's own! You will need to wear with a slip... I might suggest a light blue one, or nude to show the pattern.  Or if you prefer a more subtle look, wear with a white slip.  The design works well to be worn with a thin belt, or without. Metal zipper at back. Near Mint condition. Measures: up to 39" bust, up to 35" waist, up to 42" hips, 41" long from shoulder to hem.  NEW LISTING!

#6952 - c. 1930's Black Silk Charmeuse Bias Cut Gown with Beaded Net Bodice! Museum Deaccession!  From a very well-known fashion museum (who has asked to remain nameless) comes this black silk charmeuse bias-cut gown with the an awesome silver beaded silk net overlay with low "v" necklines and fabulous long draped "v" back ending in long beaded tassel!  So gorgeous you keep wondering who the designer might have been on this gown!  Near Excellent condition with extreme minor details of minor bead loss, small stress hole in net at mid back (see photo) and one light bead transfer on silk below waist back (see photo).  Hard to measure bias cut gowns, but these 1930s gowns are always hard to get on and look great on thin bodies, so I would suggest only you 0-2 gals would be best.  If you email me your measurements, I will let you know if it will fit.  I have to mention that this gown was given a "make over" at one time with the addition of a zipper in place of what likely was snaps.  It's totally hidden by the overlay at back, and frankly you will be glad it's done if you plan to wear this gown, but for you purists... you need to know!  NEW LISTING!  Also Listed in the 1850-1920 Category.

#5158 - c. 1960's Green and Blue Jacquard Print Silky Rayon Gown!  I have no idea why this color combination was SO popular in the early 1960s. You hardly see it at any other time... but it was everywhere back then!  Frankly it's kinda cool, eh?  And certainly evokes the Man Men era.  This gown is extremely fitted bodice with wide scoop neck and nearly off the shoulder.  The skirt has some pleats which give the impression of "flying panels", but there are none... it's all one piece. Only for the TINIEST of you out there... Measures:  probably 30" bust, up to 23/24" waist, 14" from shoulder to waist (so very short waisted!),  38" from waist to hem, or 52" long shoulder to hem (for a gal 5' tall).  Excellent condition. #7020 - c. 1960's HELEN BOND CARRUTHERS Brown "Autumn Leaves" Cashmere Sweater!  I'm sure you already know all this, but Helen Bond Carruthers are among the most highly sought after cashmere collectibles. Most are highly decorated with embroidery, applique, and beads, and often the entire sweater is covered decorations taken from all kinds of old textiles, including embroidered Chinese shawls, and were then appliqued to the sweaters. They originally sold for quite a high price of $150 at the time, and were sold to those who could afford them, including celebrities like Elizabeth Taylor who bought ten at a time! And wore one on the cover of a magazine. I assume that you already know that "HBC" sweaters can command huge prices at auction!  This brown cashmere sweater is different from most with the autumn leaves design front and back.  There are some small moth holes that you will see if you hold up to the light.  This sweater had been worn and loved, so the cuffs might have been tighter when new, but at this price, it's the look you are getting!  And what a look!!!  These are a bit short-waisted (as was the style).  Measures:  34/35" bust, 25/26" waist. I have two of these Helen Bond Carruthers sweaters in my own closet. Neither of mine are in perfect condition either. About the same as this one... and I just LOVE wearing them!  For the compliments alone!! :) :) :)  NEW LISTING!

#7154 - c. late 1950's/early 1960's  "Le Papillon " (The Butterfly) Cotton Dress!  This is one of those dresses that I thought about keeping myself, and although I wear many 1950s vintage dresses, this is the first that I felt was better suited to someone a bit younger (than me at 56) :( .  Perhaps it's just that it is SOOOOO sweet!!  Achingly sweet!  Slightly off-white cotton completely covered with printed light blue butterflies with the black script writing out The Butterfly and Le Papillon (French for butterfly). Measures:  33/34" bust, 27/28" waist, 34" hipline (at 3.5" below natural waist), 44" long from shoulder to hem. Metal zipper at back. #6996 - c. 1940's/1950's Sweetest 2-Piece Spring Green Linen Halter "Dress" with Pink Soutache Trim!  I adore this set! Maybe because when I was growing up, my Mother let us pick out the colors for our bedrooms.  My older sister chose lavender, my twin chose yellow, and for 18 years, I had light pink walls and spring green carpet! Yup, this outfit would have disappeared in my room...totally camouflaged! But I bet you love this just as much as I, without my childhood memories, eh?  Mid-weight linen. Side metal zipper on bodice. Halter ties behind neck to adjust as necessary.  Side metal zipper on skirt.  Wear the bodice in or out.  Fabulous 3-D pink soutache on skirt and all over waistband, edging the bodice, and with that cute little pink bow! #4677- c. SPRING 1949 TRAINA-NORELL, New York "Wedding Dress"!  Yup, I know the exact dating for this dress because it was worn by the original owner as an informal wedding dress in Spring of 1949!  Exquisite heavy guipure lace full skirted dress with matching thin belt, with very unexpected solid thin muslin yoke/short sleeves with tiny peter pan collar and tiny mother of pearl buttons!   This dress can be worn with a larger crinoline under (which I probably should have done for the photo, so just use your imagination).  Wish I had a photo of the original bride. :(   Measures: up to 37" bust, up to 30" waist (though 28.5" inner waist tape), so I'm assuming that gave the waist some room for some petticoats., 33" long from waist to hem.  Side metal zipper. Excellent condition with one exception... you will see some ever so slight yellowing on the yoke (see photos - you really can't even see it!), and one lipstick stain INSIDE only. #7058 - c. 1976 YVES SATIN LAURENT, Rive Gauche, Paris Peasant Collection!  Printed Silk Chiffon Iconic Dress! Here's the quote from the New York Times Obit for YSL:  The “rich peasant” collection of 1976, stirred so much interest that the Paris show was restaged in New York for his American admirers. “The clothes incorporated all my dreams,” he said after the show, “all my heroines in the novels, the operas, the paintings. It was my heart — everything I love that I gave to this collection.”   Just imagine the skirt billowing in the breeze, and the elastic neckline worn off the shoulders for the most romantic look.  You too can be a heroine!  One of the BEST YSL peasant piece I've ever seen.  Floral design in pink, white, blue, red, green and black. #6497 - c. 1960's DRIZZLE / I. Magnin &Co. "Pucci" Look Coat!  I'm showing the back of this coat in this photo not because the front isn't beautiful, but the back is just "killer"!!  You gotta love all the details that you can barely see due to the wild very Pucci print, but check out the close-up photos to see the horizontal seamed back yoke, the inverted pleat mid back top and bottom, and the tabbed belt loop at mid back!  The front shows the matching self-covered buckle on the wide belt.  Closes with black round snaps up the front... and as you see, you can wear open collar or fully closed. I'm showing collar up, but that's just to see the undersize.... no shortcuts taken on this gem!  Labeled an OLD size 14! However, this fits me at a modern size 4/6, and will work as well on a modern size 8 (if you don't wear much under). Fully lined in light blue.  Very bold colors in what looks like a kind of doubleknit(?).. and this Drizzle line specialized in Water repellent coats, so I have to assume this is... but I don't want to try it out and be wrong.  I have to confess, I've worn this coat twice.. both times to vintage clothing auctions with some of the most educated vintage dealers in the country... and they ALL just assumed it was a rare and fabulous Pucci coat!!!!  I don't blame them.  It's THAT perfect a copy... and from the correct era! I'm perfectly happy to keep this in my own closet, so I might have to interrogate you prior to allowing you to purchase it... you know, like an adoption process.  You have to be worthy!! Excellent condition with the only issue being the lining shoulder areas with discolorations.  Interior only people!!  Exterior is near mint! Measurements are difficult because of the inverted pleat at back... 34-44" bust (yes!), 37-41" waist (but cinch as you want for size), 38" long from shoulder to hem, 16" long sleeve (underarm), 23" long sleeve (outside).  NEW LISTING! Also Listed in the Furs, Etc. Section.

#7102- c. 1950's PAB Black Silk Chiffon Party Dress with Fancy Ruched Bodice and Faux Feather Hem!   How fun! This dress has a PAB label, and so I discovered that this exact dress had sold on another website for $875....so, take the extra $200 and get a great pair of shoes! :) Very Ceil Chapman, so unless you wear your labels on the outside of your dress, you can tell your friends anything you want! :) LOVE the hemline created out of feather cut chiffon fabric mimicking actual feathers (but a lot less expensive to produce, and easier to sit on!). The bodice is as pretty as you will find.  There is a thin crinoline net under, but I photographed with an additional one. Back metal zipper. Incredibly thin angelhair pasta straps (you know, thinner than spaghetti straps!). Excellent condition.  Measures: 36" bust, up to 27" waist, 25" long from natural waist to hem. NEW LISTING!

#7055 - c. late 1950's/early 1960's JEAN DESSES Lame Cocktail Dress with Matching Coat, Lined in Orange Velvet! When Jean Desses closed his couture house at 17, Avenue Matignon (here's a fun trivia note: that mansion was formerly owned by the Eiffel family!) he continued designing from No. 12 Rond-Point-des-Champs-Elysees until 1963 when he retired (though others report it was 1965). So, since this outfit doesn't have the typical Desses label you are used to seeing, it's likely due to that... though I've never seen this type label before.  HOWEVER, this outfit came from a museum deaccession, and since it's obviously fabulously and meticulously tailored with the finest materials... and it has the "made in France" label as well....  so then.  Unique lame printed material with impressionist design in gold, orange and aqua.  VERY wiggle dress with "boned" bodice and plunging back.  Slight cocoon shape matching coat fully lined in orange velvet with velvet stand-up collar. Exquisite! Near Mint with just tiny wear at bottom metal zipper (see photo). Fully silk lined dress. The tailoring includes a focus on the ass.  Really!  Measures: 34" bust, 24" waist, up to 36/37" hips, 39" long from shoulder to hem both dress and coat. NEW LISTING!  Also listed in the Museum Category.

#7199 - c. 1960's GINALA Wool Coat of a Soft Black Color with Flaired "Skirt"!  One of those great stylin' coats from the "mod" era... this one with a bit of a military flair. the color is a soft black that will challenge you, because you could easily call it a deep navy/black or deep grey/black... all depends on the lighting and how you see colors.  I wonder if this Ginala label was chosen as a "knock off" of the very high-end Originala coats... as it has the same style, but this is not of that high-end workmanship or materials.  So.. that means, you can get the right look for a lot less!  Yeah!  Measures: up to 36" bust, up to 34" waist, up to 44" hips,  36" long from shoulder to hem (someone else measured and got even larger measurements, but again... I don't want to mislead re: the wearable size).  Now remember these are COAT measurements!  That means... pay little attention to them and more to the fact that this is best for a size 4/6... depending on what you wear under.  Also great for a shorter gal as the sleeves are a bit on the short side - great for me at 5'2".  The coat looks GREAT on!  You're friends will think this is an Originala!  Condition? Could use a drycleaning to freshen up, but nothing is really wrong. except the fact that the brasstoned round buttons are all scratched up, and two are missing on the sleeves, so you will want to find all new buttons.  Fully lined. Priced to sell, allowing you $50 for buttons and drycleaning.  You'll love wearing this!  Looks great on!   NEW LISTING! Also Listed in the Furs, etc.  Category.

#5021A - c. 1968-1970  GUNTER PROJECT 2 Purple Mod Dress with Matching Mod Coat!  Here's the info from my favorite website, "Vintage Label Resource":  Gunter Ruecker studied at FIT (NYC), and then after working for a clothing firm in his native Germany, he returned to New York in 1968 and he started his own line, Gunter Project 2.  At Project 2, Gunter made pants outfits for women (and obviously some dress/coat outfits! :).  The company that produced Gunter Project 2, G.T.N., was bought by clothing maker Abe Schrader in 1969.  The line continued to be made into the 1970s. Gunter later became a tailoring instructor at FIT." No surprise that Gunter became a tailoring instructor, because you can see from this outfit, he was a master tailor!! Check out the close-up photos to see the seaming details and even the slightly scalloped hemline of the dress!!  Quite heavyweight fabric.  Very Pierre Cardin look. Measures:  34" bust, up to 28/29" waist, up to 40" hips, 33" long from shoulder to hem for both dress and coat. Sadly the condition isn't perfect.  There is slight discoloration on the coat and major discoloration of the coat lining.  The buttons on both are flaking, so they would need to be replaced.  The dress lining is dirty on the dress at the neck and underarm.  And there is a light spot on the sleeve of the coat. Got all that?   Still a great classic outfit from the Mod era. Priced to reflect condition.  NEW LISTING!  Also Listed in the Furs, etc. Category.

And anyone who wants to buy the original for that price, let me know!  I know where it is! :) Perhaps my favorite material... white cotton pique printed with the flowers and then beaded and sequined. Could be late 1950's or early 1960's.  Not sure.  Who cares?? :)  It's uniquely sweet!  Red rosebuds on white cotton print with that incredibly stunning illusion yoke with the sweetest little 3-D felt flowers and tiny peter pan collar!! If you look closely at the yoke, there is a white netting under the strips of fabric. Working buttons at the back. Shown with a small crinoline. Excellent condition though missing it's original belt, so I'm just showing with a red ribbon (doesn't come with it).  I found ONE teeny break in the yoke netting, otherwise this dress is like new. A bit too small for my dressform.  Measures: 33/ 34" bust, 25" waist, 16" from shoulder to waist, 29" long from waist to hem, 102" skirt sweep. NEW LISTING!

I figured it was going right into my closet (this is SO ME!!!), but sadly in my haste I didn't try it on, and it's too small for me (Wahhh), so it's going to another home.  It's best for a size 0/2 girl.  I'm more a size 4.  Black velvet jacket with black soutache with slight peplum.  PLEASE NOTE: this design runs around the back of the peplum as well... like it's supposed to!  Not like the cheap, cheezy designs today when they figure no one is going to care about their backside (I'm just told by Mark of Montreal that they are known as "coffin designs"... you figure it out! :).  Excellent condition with the exception of the missing self covered velvet buttons.   Best to just find some great new buttons to sew on. I would have done and you would have never known it wasn't perfect, but best for you to get items in original condition from me. NOTE:  I lightened the photos to see the detail... but this is BLACK! To find a 1955 silk organdy gorgeous Traina-Norell fancy party dress alone is a great find... but to have the original separate half petticoat with it is ... well... let me just say it puts a huge smile on my face!! :) The color is a unique mocha brown embroidered with ivory branch-like motifs with satin tie bow belt. The dress has a fitted bodice with narrow shoulder straps and full skirt.  Measures:  34" bust, 25" waist, 45" long form shoulder to hem, 30" long from waist to hem.  Excellent condition with two minor issues: Tiny stain back bodice and one even tinier one on a bit of ivory embroidery (see photos), and one of the straps is fraying at seam and underneath. This dress is MUSEUM QUALITY and indeed was deaccessioned from the Brooklyn Museum Costume Collection.  A Killer dress from the best era of couture (in my opinion!) the 1950s! #5105a - c. 1930's Navy Blue and White Printed Silk Chiffon Sheer Dress with Attached Capelet! One of the reasons I buy few prints for this website (beside the fact there are few prints I actually like) is because they are SO hard to photograph so you can see all the tailoring details.  Ends up just looking like a printed blob, but I can assure you this dress is not.  There's an very interesting slightly ruffled back capelet that is attached and snaps around the waist.  I tried to photograph so check out the other photos. Gored bottom skirt shape.  Note: You will need to wear with a slip as it's quite sheer.  Excellent condition with some discoloration on the flouncy sleeves in the front - the white has darkened there. And of course, as you probably know... when Heather Mills married Paul McCartney... it was the Eavis & Brown purported $25,000 gown that started Heather's family feud with Stella McCartney! This should allow for lots of admiration with a simple black skirt or slacks... or black jeans for that matter! Achingly beautiful! Like an old masters painting.  You can get lost in the embroidery. Best quality goods, exquisitely made!! Corset back to fit a few sizes.  There are snaps under the corseting which didn't snap on this mannequin, but you can see how it looks like this... and the snaps could be removed if you wish. #5674 - c. 1950's HARVEY BERIN by KAREN STARK Champagne Colored Silk Satin Dress Covered with White Lace! You should go look through some old Vogue Magazines to see just how good this label is!  However some Harvey Berin dresses seem better than others.. like this one! Yummy champagne colored silk satin dress covered almost everywhere with a off-white lace.  Pretty enough to wear for a second wedding or any fancy event.  It's not perfect though, as there are some light underarm stains on just the satin portion of the tiny cap sleeves (you can find matching lace to cover these and then it's nearly Mint).  Other than that, I found on tiny light spot on the back skirt satin.. can't even find it unless looking.  Measures: 34" bust, 27" underbust (ribcage), 26" waist, 28" long from waist to hem. Back metal zipper.  Fits nearly off the shoulder.  I added a crinoline under, but doesn't come with it... and nicely wearable either way. Price reflects the underarm issue...  otherwise would be twice the price!

Amanda Wakeley was recently honored with an OBE (Order of the British Empire) for her "services to fashion".  She world-class reputation for stunning design and figure flattering shapes built up an illustrious list of Famous clients including Scarlett Johansson, Dame Helen Mirren, Demi Moore, Elizabeth Hurley, Jennifer Lopez, Kate Winslet, Celine Dion, Halle Berry, Zoe Saldana, and Queen Rania of Jordan.  This
gown is not from her cheap Elements line, but from her top-of-the-line fashions selling in the thousands of dollars. Previously worn in the soap opera "Passions".  Electric blue satin halter gown with fabulous 1930s seaming and exquisite pleated "tail" at back that moves beautifully when you walk! Very sexy!!  Gorgeous on!!  Measures:  34" bust, up to 30" waist, up to 43" hips, 60" long from shoulder to hem in front, 62" in back (bias, so if you have larger than 36" hips, the gown may be shorter).  No closures. Condition?  Well, excellent except that the front skirt (front hips) shows satin bruising... like the gown was hanging on a rack in Saks a bit too long.  Most recently worn on stage in the 1930's "The Women" play (role of Crystal - played by Joan Crawford in the 1939 movie).  Also Listed in the Memorabilia Category.

#6327 - c. 1960's H. LEVINE Bone Silk Sateen Simple Gown with Bow Waist and Beaded Bolero! This could so easily be a Jackie Kennedy gown you might see in the Smithsonian! Gorgeously simple. Fitted bodice with classic pleated front bell-shaped skirt and front bow tie.   Comes with a gorgeous pearl and gimpure lace bolero.  Would make a beautiful wedding gown especially for an early 1960s "Camelot" wedding theme!!  Or any wedding!  There are two minor issues.  The gown was dry-cleaned but slight underarm rings still remain. However, if you are wearing the bolero, these are, of course, never seen!  And the other other thing is knitpicky... but the back of the bolero neckline doesn't exactly line up (don't know why... just doesn't) and some of the pearls are worn. These are minor issues, but I have to mention everything for those brides! :)  Measurements coming, but approx size 6.  NEW LISTING!   Also Listed in the Wedding Category.

These wool knit dresses and gowns entirely covered with beading were extremely popular in the 1960s... for a very good reason!  They are gorgeous on just about everyone, AND very comfortable!  Just like wearing a long favorite sweater (though not a bulky wool knit).  This gown actually came from a museum and has the original museum hangtag still on.  One of the nicest of these gowns I've seen... very classy!  Love the boat neckline and the low scoop back! #6985 - c. 1950's Black Faille Cocktail Dress with Gilt Metallic Embroidery!  Larger Size! Great look! Black silk faille dress totally covered in a gilt metallic thread in floral design.  The skirt is full but the bodice is more fitted.  Can be worn with or without a belt.  Shown with a crinoline (which doesn't come with it), but looks good with or without.  Metal zipper back. Front vertical seam. Measures: 40" bust, up to 33" waist,  41" long from shoulder to hem.  The dress is lovely, but there are issues to report.  Not glaring, but there.  As you will see in the photos, the original seams and darts have been taken out to increase the size of the dress (this is great for those of you wanting a larger size!).  The original waist was 29" and can certainly be put back to original size if you wish. The back metal zipper is "ruffled".  Works fine, but just not laying perfectly flat.  And there are some hardly seen underarm lightening areas (see photos). Still all and all a lovely looking dress, just not totally pristine. Might be twice this price if perfect, so you get to look great and save the $345 for new shoes! :)  NEW LISTING!

Beautiful on!  Slit up the front skirt for a bit of leg.  Back zipper.  This is the second time I found this gown for sale.  I loved it so much, I thought I'd offer it again! Excellent condition, just a hint of dirt on the lining bodice.  Measures:  34" bust, 29/30" waist, hemmed up to 40" long from natural waist to hem.  Too small for the 35" bust mannequin, but it will zip up perfectly at back for you. Even Susan Lucci wears vintage Mackie (of if it isn't, she's wearing a knock off of this style!!) :)  NEW LISTING!

#6785 - c. 1960's HOWARD GREER / BRUCE MacINTOSH Puffy Metallic Cocktail Dress!  Damn, I love Howard Greer's clothing! But I'm not the only one... let's see... Rita Hayworth, Mary Pickford, Ingrid Bergman, Jane Russell, Ginger Rogers, Greta Garbo... and most recently Sarah Jessica Parker agree with me! Fabulous quality. Greer's look tended toward the expensive afternoon and evening clothes of fitted torso with eye-catching effects... specifically designed to look good seated at a table with stunning necklines. He was the Chief Designer at Paramount 1924-1927, then opened Greer, Inc. in Los Angeles in 1928. He was the first major costume designer to establish his own couture house and continued to supply film costumes into the 1950s. This is an exquisite silver and gold "puffy" metallic brocade design on a ivory silk.  Has the "Greer" neckline, cap sleeves, wiggle skirt and comes with the original matching thin belt. Excellent condition with the exception of one minor light spot area (see photo).  Hardly seen unless in bright light... and even at that, nearly impossible to see!  Zipper back with hooks over.  Interior lining stain underarm (lining only!). The belt has wear, but rare to even find an original belt, so I'm not apologizing for it! :) Measures: 33" bust, 25"waist, up to 35" hips, 40" long from shoulder to hem, 25" from waist to hem. #3933 - c. 1940's Navy Blue Openwork Ribbon Dress!  Unless you are Cher, you will need to find yourself a slip to wear under this dress! :)  The beauty is that you can change the look of this dress dramatically just by the color slip you wear.   Navy slip will make the design disappear.  White will make the design pop!  Nude will make HIS eyes pop! :) OR go crazy and wear a bright wild color under.  Love the shape of the dress.  Wide square collar, 1/2 sleeves, slightly "flippy" skirt. This dress stretches, so it will fit quite a few sizes. Without stretching, it's 32" bust, 26" waist, BUT when I stretch, it's up to 40" bust, up to 30" waist, up to 42" hips!  46" long from shoulder to hem. Side metal zipper. Excellent condition, though in bright lights you can see that there is fading across the shoulders and down the sleeves - obviously was hanging in the light for too many years... but when you look at the dress in regular light, you can't see the fading!  Had belt loops, so was worn with a belt, but looks perfect without. #6852 - c. 1960's White Sequin on Wool Knit "Wiggle" Dress! New Old Stock, Never Worn! These dresses were extremely popular in the 1960's....  and for good reason... they are extremely comfortable!  A mid-weight wool knit base covered with sequins, usually from Hong Kong. They mold to your shape, and you feel more like you are wearing a bathrobe than a smashing dinner or evening dress!  This one is particularly fetching with thin straps (so you will need to wear a strapless bra, or you can easily sew in bust pads!), and lovely pewter beads and sequins in circle pattern around the low neckline and around to the back.  Back metal zipper.  Measurements are nearly impossible to give you as it's completely stretchy and will fit many of you from size 4/6 to 8/10.... or just email me your measurements if you are larger and I will let you know! Still has an original tag hanging!!  Never Worn!  Near Mint condition! Will fit lots of different sizes and bodies! NEW LISTING!

#7002 - c. 1950's Blue Flocked Satin One-Shouldered Gown!  One of the dresses I would keep in a heartbeat! If you loved Maggie Gyllenhaal's (Dries Van Noten) rare blue floral print gown at the Oscars, when you are nominated next year, this could be your gown!  And, of course, the one-shouldered gowns are always fashionable, sexy, and flattering! So hard to show in photos, but many of the blue hibiscus flowers in the print are actually flocked (a short velvet woven into the satin fabric). Awesome!  There is an exquisite blue flowered golden scrolled ornament at the shoulder with huge blue faceted stone!  Side metal zipper. Measures 36" bust, up to 29" waist, up to 37" hips 14" slit up side skirt. 54" long from shoulder to hem.  Excellent condition with a few extremely minor issues (see photos). Extreme light stitchmarks at side as someone enlarged seam, two barely seen spots on skirt.. really... hard to see at all, and then one rusty spot right near slit that you will see - that's really the only thing to mention.  Usually you can't find a light colored gown without any issues...  and this is just SO beautiful... do NOT hestitate!! #6995 - c. late 1940's JUILLIARD "New Look" Black Virgin Wool Coat with Black Satin Ornamental Trim!  For those of you who can't stand another year of wearing that same winter coat that you've been wearing for the last umpteen years, or want the same experience that I get when I wear MY black wool winter coat (yeah, I have a nice one!) when I'm constantly getting compliments for women and men (yup, MEN!) alike!  It makes you feel great... and helps to liven up your attitude even if Winter weather is getting you down. Lovely black 100% virgin wool coat (how DO they know these sheep were virgins?)with fabulous black satin applique ornamental trip around wide "circle" skirt and very wide shawl collar.  Wide balloon-type sleeves with tighter cuffs (so you can push them up your arm a bit if you like).   This coat would look terrific with a belt as well. Measures:  34/35" bust, 26-30" waist (depending where you place the snap/hook). As it is now in the photo, the waist is larger than it was originally... with the smaller waist it would have been a bit more wrapped.  Though looks great either waist size! Fully lined. Excellent condition with just one hardly seen tiny moth hole on the skirt... backed by black, so again.. unless you are inspecting the coat as I have to do for you....  (see photo).    NEW LISTING!  Also Listed in the Furs, etc. Category.

#6817 - c. early 1980's OSCAR de la RENTA Lamb Suede Jacket with Soutache and Frog Closures!  Ah, back from the days when even the RTW pieces were exquisitely made of the finest materials with great design.  Not like the cheesy, chintzy pieces made today. Gorgeous caramel colored soft lamb suede with very modern shaped slightly puffed shoulders... and then trimmed in a surprising soft moss green soutache down front, at cuffs and around the neck and hem all the way around the back (even this alone isn't done anymore... designers today seem to cut corners at the back!).  Closes with matching large frogs.  This will look just as elegant, but perhaps younger and more sporty if worn open.  Great with a pair of jeans!  Excellent condition. Fully lined.  Measures:  34/35" bust,  up to 31" waist, 7/8 length sleeves (to show off your bracelets)! Made in USA. Marked size 8, but fits more like a 6. Would have been quite expensive new! #6925 - c. 1950's Chiffon Gown of Royal Blue Silk Crepe Chiffon with Beading!  LARGER SIZE!  Killer color! One of the most popular color on the Red Carpet at the 2010 Oscars!  Killer gown!  One of my favorites!!  Why you ask?  Because it's another piece that mimics my favorite vintage designer, Jean Desses. Check out the close-up photos to see the ruching and draping of the bodice and the wide waist, and the breathtaking draping at the side.  Looks like a Ceil Chapman as well (for those of you who don't know - gasp!- Jean Desses). Terrific and always sexy "crumb catcher-like" low scoop necked bodice topped with lovely gold and silver clear beading with rhinestones in floral design!  Since he'll be looking there anyway, it's nice to give him something special to look at - beside your breasts! :)  Even lower beaded scoop neckline at back.  Excellent condition with two minor exceptions.  The interior lining (only lining!) is discolored and the lining needs to be hemmed up as it peeks out from under the chiffon.  Back metal zipper.  Measures: 38" bust, 29" waist, up to 41" hips, 59" long from shoulder to hem.  NEW LISTING!

#6880 - c. 1940's Black Crepe WWII "USO" Dress with Black Sequin Bows and Trim!  I wish I could have some music playing as you are checkin' out this dress.  Do you know "Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy of Company B"?  That's the one.  Please start humming now! This is the classic dress that would have been worn to greet the servicemen at a WWII USO event. Or any 1940s dinner date.  I can just see her with platform ankle strap shoes and perhaps a large flower in her hair, or a terrific "doll" hat... um, yeah,... with a feather! And don't forget the seamed stockings! A gorgeous black thin crepe fabric with scoop neckline, short sleeves and terrific black sequin trim with three bows at front!  Great peplum design as well! Small padded shoulders. Hidden side snaps.  Measures: 35" bust, up to 29" waist, up to 37" hips best, 47" long from shoulder to hem.  Excellent condition with extremely, hardly seen reddish discoloration at top of shoulders and down side.  You will have to look hard in bright light to see it.  Don't hesitate about that! You will probably wonder what I'm even talking about when you see the dress.  Since it's a side opening, you will want to try on with a FRIEND, as it's hard to get on over the head!  You don't want to be stuck with the dress half-on and half-off, laughing hysterically at the ridiculous situation you've found yourself in!! :) Been there, done that! :)

#6542 - c. late 1940's/early 1950's HATTIE CARNEGIE, Paris, Palm Beach, New York Black Silk Taffeta Gown Covered with Deco Design Rhinestones!  Hattie Carnegie was never actually a fashion designer, but rather her shops imported expensive original designer Parisian models, as well as employing renowned house designers. The couturiers whose models she imported included Lanvin, Vionnet, Molyneux, Mainbocher Chanel, Patou, Schiaparelli, and Charles James. The upper levels of Hattie Carnegie were quite similar to those of the Paris couture houses, where fine custom clothing was made to order for wealthy society women, movie stars and royalty, including famous customers as Joan Crawford and the Duchess of Windsor. Quoted in the November 1940 Bazaar, "Probably the look most associated with Hattie Carnegie - the perfectly tasteful black evening dress that made the wearer look and feel like $1,000,000!"  And so... I'm pleased to present this extraordinary Hattie Carnegie gown!  Black silk taffeta with teeming with bright rhinestones in a deco pattern design front and back. The low "v" back is covered in a fluttering sheer chiffon and lower back with taffeta streamers (both again covered with the rhinestones).  The shape of the gown with wide "petal" hipline evokes the "new look" probably before Dior, and the petal look probably before Charles James! This gown will need the appropriate underpinnings to fill out as you see, but even hanging on a hanger, it's superb! Museum piece without a doubt.  Measurements coming, but frankly I'd rather you not wear this gem.  Excellent condition, just ever so slight pulling/tearing at chiffon shoulders. Also Listed in the Museum Category.

#6989 - Vintage Luxurious Genuine Sable Fur Boa /Stole / Scarf / Wrap! A LONG 7.5 FEET long!  As good as new, but a lot less expensive! Measures an exceptional 9" wide x  91" long (that's over 7.5 feet!!!). Yeah, I know, I should just pick one name to call this piece, but it's versatile and can be worn a few different ways, so.. it's all these things! A genuine, stunning, luxurious, fluffy, soft, supple and lightweight sable measuring terrific 90" long and 9" wide as there are two boas loosely connected into one which allows it to be securely worn criss-crossed.  A fabric chain closure also allows the sable to comfortably and elegantly drape over the shoulders flowing past the thighs. Each end has tails that are as soft as the rest of the fur.  The lining is velvet. The fur is in mint condition and so is the lining. This sable fur was just recently cleaned and is ready to wear.  I am not certain of the origin of this sable, but it's indeed sable! It has a distinctive darker brown stripe down the center of each pelt with whitish silver furs and a pale area at the criss-cross which proves it to be natural color. When worn criss-crossed around the neck, it is long enough to graze the knees!!  Also Listed in the Furs, etc. Category.

#6948 - c. 1960's PAULINE TRIGERE for BERGDORF GOODMAN on the Plaza, New York Black Wool Jersey Wrap Dress with Black Fox Fur Trim!!  This was represented to me as a coat... but it's not! Nope!  More remarkably, it's a long winter dress... something to wear with great high heeled boots!! The belt is not original to the piece, but I'm sure it had a belt of some kind... perhaps a bit less wide, but likely similar. It does actually wrap, and frankly looks so wonderfully wealthy on! : )  The black fox fur is lush and in Excellent condition as is the dress.   Zippered cuffs.  The fox collar doesn't "go up" as it might on a coat, just sewn onto the flat collared dress. I'll be searching for more information about a dress like this through my library of old Vogue and Harper's Bazaar magazines.  I'd love to find an original photo shoot of this and how it was worn.   I'm imagining the model was wearing a black fox hat, eh?  Wraps, so measurements are hard to take, but shown and wears well on this size 6 mannequin.   Measures: 50-54" long from shoulder to hem.... slightly longer in the back.

#4152 - c. 1950/60's Natural Fox Pocket Stole /Cape / Wrap / Bolero Length!  OK, I'm not actually sure which era this is from, but it's one of those rare fur shapes that looks correct when worn over a 1930s sexy, sultry gown without overpowering, to a 1940's suit, to a 1950's'/60's wiggle dress... and even looks perfect today for those of you tired of wrapping in a pashmina for evening!  A 4-tiered natural Fox Pocket Stole/Cape/Bolero/Wrap (too many names for this!).  Whatever you call it, it is just gorgeous and ultra elegant!  Excellent quality.  Most likely Arctic Norwegian Fox... lush, full and silky. Natural fox, not dyed as the pelts have a deep pile with brown highlights and thick underfur.  Front small pockets lined with champagne satin.  The collar flips up, but it's satin under, so looks best down. Interior champagne silk lining embroidered Rita S.  I love the old monograms and imagining the life it had before me!  Excellent condition with just the front hook missing (the eye is there).  I'm sitting here right now typing this with this over my shoulders! :)  This is a heck of a lot nicer than a bathrobe! :)  Nice and warm.  Great bed jacket, eh?? :) You might want to leave this page up on your computer "by accident" so your boyfriend/husband sees it! :)  Unless he's one of those guys that never gets a hint.  Measures: 21" long from neck to hem, 60" along the hemline, and approximate 17" from shoulder to shoulder (although it's hard to measure that). Size estimated as SMALL. Also Listed in the Furs, etc. Category.

However, I assume that you already know about "HBC" sweaters... and the prices they can command (easily twice this price at auction!!)... so... you have been lying in wait to pounce on the next one to become available.  This sweater comes new to the market from a woman in Louisville KY.... about 50 miles from Versailles KY where Helen Bond Carruthers sweaters were created.  Gorgeous soft royal blue (not a harsh color, but still bold) cashmere cardigan with off-white floral embroidery front and back and on cuffs.  The sweater buttons up the front with matching crochet balls.  Fully lined in white sheer silk crepe.  And yes, the label and banded hemline are correct.  3/4 length sleeves. #6922 - c. 1980's MARY McFADDEN COUTURE Goddess Gown of Sky Blue and Thin Gold Trim!  As I'm sure you already know... "a crucial point in McFadden's career was 1975 when she the patented her famous Marii pleated fabric, recalling Fortuny's silk pleated fabrics.  McFadden's pleated evening gowns were ideal for her wealthy, jet-setting clientéle since they were made of satin-backed polyester, which retained the permanent pleats through hand-washing and travel. Their texture is divine, silky and light with a cushiony effect." Fabulous feel!  Oh, and I particularly like the pleats vertical on the lower half of the dresses... to create that goddess line! This sky blue gown is superb!  Basketweave design at front and back bodice and on puffed sleeves!  Ultrathin gold trim at waist.  Awesome!  Looks fabulous on! #5676 - c. early 1990's MURRAY ARBEID, London Black Silk Dress with Silver Bugle Beaded Bodice!  Who wore Murray Arbeid dresses?  Yup, Princess Diana!  Murray Arbeid was one of the top British designers of the 1980's.  Favored by stars and royalty, he designed several of Princess Diana's most famous gowns. His shop closed in 1992, so this is one of the rare "non 1980s" over-the-top Arbeid dresses.  As classy as you can get.  For those of you who want to dress in the best, but who don't perhaps have lovely Michelle Obama arms... or like me, just gets cold in sleeveless dresses!  This gives you the sexy shape (from the wonderful hand draping silk dress from the inverted "v" empire waistline.  The beading gives the impression of a bow, but without any excess bulk at the bodice.  Perfect! Excellent condition exterior.  The interior lining is reddened underarms, which keeps this price lower, but unless you plan on undressing during the party, or want to purchase for re-sale... you won't care!   Get the BEST QUALITY goods for less than you'd buy some cheap dress at a department store! Measures:  32/33" bust (small busted is best otherwise your "girls" will be squashed creating very deep cleavage!), 27" waist, up to 37" hips, 45" long from shoulder to hem.  Photos lightened a bit to see detail... it's a dark black gorgeous dress!   LOOK AT THE 30's GOWN BELOW... #4548 - c. 1935 Black Crepe Gown with Rhinestone and Beaded Bodice in Butterfly Design! Larger Size!  I always seek out great larger sized gowns for this website... but they are very hard to find. So.. when you see them... pounce! I tried to lighten the photos enough for you to see the shape of the gown.  The bodice is hard to miss... fully beaded in silver bugle beads and tons of rhinestones.  The sleeves are open at the sides but cover everything you want to cover as they hang to the elbow.  The back is a wide vertical strip of rhinestones, which matches the design on the sleeves.  The front... well, the front is designed in a artistic butterfly!  NICE!!!  The black crepe skirt has a wide waist front and back with tiny buttons up the back (OK, I didn't button them all, but they are all there).  And then a gathered back to give the impression of a train.  NICE!!  This gown isn't in perfect condition, but certainly quite wearable... especially as you would likely wear for the evening so the very minor pulls and light faded red spots (see photos) won't be seen.  There is a bit of rust on the rhinestones in the mid-front (see photos).  With a bit of scraping, or cleaning, it will come off.  Only other thing is a slight mustiness for those who are finicky.  GREAT SIZE... Measures:  up to 44" bust, up to 35" waist, up to 40" hips.

Measures: 34" bust, 28" waist, 59" long from shoulder to hem in front, 73" long in back.  Excellent condition except for a barely seen mark on breast, and dirt along the hem and train (needs a dryclean).  I can't see any reason why this won't clean near perfectly.  Other than these areas, it's extremely clean and white!!  If you don't want a train, this can easily be hemmed without and then the dirt is gone! :)  Whoopie! :) Also Listed in the Wedding Category.

Debbie Reynolds:
"What I remember most from this party
is how much I loved my dress. Helen
Rose did this outfit for me. It's pale green,
and the coat is lined with the same
beading as the dress. We had to pay
for those dresses back then. The $7,000
cost was steep."
at the Governors Ball, 1964

#6905 - RARE c. 1960's HELEN ROSE Couture Gold Beaded Gown with Crystal Drops! Helen Rose was one of the few top Hollywood Designers from the 1940s-60s. She costumed over 200 films for MGM, was honored with 10 Oscar nominations and two Oscar wins! She designed wardrobe for a long list of stars. And her designs are memorable...such as Elizabeth Taylor's famous white wrap dress and slip from "Cat on a Hot Tin Roof".  She was Grace Kelly's favorite, designing her wardrobe for "The Swan" and "High Society" AND her personal wedding gown... as well as Elizabeth Taylor's first wedding gown to Nicky Hilton, a white satin gown embellished with seed pearls and beading which had taken a number of beaders two months to complete! Helen's consumer line, "Helen Rose Couture", existed from 1957-1972. In 1957, the price for her retail version of the Liz Taylor "Cat" short chiffon dress was $250! So you can just imagine the original price of this beaded gown! Easily $5,000+ in the 60s! Fitted, fully beaded gown with extremely flattering low "v" neckline both front and back.  Fabulous rows of beaded fringe and crystal drops on the skirt, at hemline, at bodice and armholes... even the underdress is beaded at the underarms!  Awesome! If Helen Rose was good enough for Grace Kelly and Liz Taylor for their wedding gowns, well... By the way, don't forget to mention the Grace Kelly / Liz Taylor connection to every woman in the room! Measures tops: 36/37" bust, 28/29" waist (27" inner band), up to 39" hips, 56/57" long from shoulder to hem. This is an opportunity to experience the luxury and glamour that was reserved for filmland's most beautiful women. Excellent condition!  The BEST of the BEST! Also listed in the Museum Category.

#5067 - c. 1990's RALPH LAUREN (purple label) Jumpsuit of "Men's Suiting" Pinstripe Charcoal Black Wool!  Wanna dress perfectly in 30 seconds?  Step into this jumpsuit, yup jumpsuit, and you are done! OK, add some shoes.  Wear with or without a blouse under, or t-shirt for a bit more funk. There was a belt originally, but no belt comes with it.  A simple belt will do... or "girl" it up with a bow belt! Or no belt at all. This is the highest-end Ralph Lauren label... the purple label. This is the label you see on the runway.  I don't have to say much more than the photos. Wear the collar more up or down (see photos). Classic.  Perfect.  The pants have pleats at front, but they are wide legged, so you don't have that "peg-leg" look of the 80's. Excellent condition. Measurements:  33/34" bust, 25" waist (though you can move the hooks for a bit more), up to 39" hips,  39" long from waist to hem.

#5146 - c. 1980s ABBY FREDELLE Ballgown of Bottle Green Silk Taffeta and Velvet with Gold Beading and Rhinestones!  There is little information I can find about the Abby Fredelle label, but I was told by the previous owner that this was a very expensive gown.  No surprise as it's beautifully made with velvet boned, cupped and silk lined bodice covered with gold beads and flat rhinestones, and mega-full silk taffeta skirt with 3 layers under of stiff crinoline and two linings.  The hemline measures a gigantic 674"!!! Nearly 19 yards!!!  Unheard of!!!  The quality is confirmed by a March 23, 1987 article in New York Magazine re:  fancy gowns for sale at a High-end Formal Boutique in New York City.  The article reads: "...the shop is having a sale featuring one-of-a-kind dresses.  For example:   Zandra Rhodes hand-painted silk chiffon gown was $5,000 now $1,500, Bob Mackie fully beaded rainbow long silk chiffon dress was $7,000 now $3,000.  Abby Fredelle white silk crepe beaded top dress was $6,000 now $1,500, etc. Carolyn Roehm beaded silk halter dress was $2,900 now $998.  So that was $6,000 back in 1987 for a dress, not a ballgown!!!!  Measures: 34/35" bust, up to 30/31" waist, up to 40" at hipline, 40" long from natural waist to hem.  Near mint condition.  Back zipper. Be a PRINCESS!  Worth much more!!

Museum Packing Dress

#5126 - c. 1986 RARE ISABEL TOLEDO "Packing Skirt" of Red and Black Linen with Original Matching Black Knit Top with Red Linen Collar! Museum Worthy! Wow... what a great find!  Most people never heard the name "Isabel Toledo" until Michelle Obama wore a lemongrass yellow outfit for the inauguration of her hubby.  All of a sudden she was a household name!  However, it was back in 1985 when Isabel Toledo presented her first collection. So she was an overnight sensation nearly 25 years in the making!  Most recently the Museum at F.I.T., New York held a Isabel Toledo exhibit entitled “Fashion From the Inside Out”.  Seems that both Isabel's and  Museum Director, Dr. Valerie Steele's favorite piece is the Packing Dress from 1988, which has "since been born again in many incarnations. It's essentially two circular pieces of fabric that mysteriously, yet simply, come together with blurred lines. Imagine a garment that mimics the point where the ocean and sand come together at the beach, that spot where one can no longer define where one ends and the other begins". HOWEVER, seems this dress started as a skirt concept, because as written in October 31, 1986:  "Isabel Toledo, 22, whose business is only three seasons old.... Among the more directional styles she will show for spring is a double-circle skirt she calls a "packing skirt" because it lies flat when not worn". And as Dr. Steele said, "I think one of the most important designs that I really wanted to get for the museum was her packing dress that is shaped like a doughnut, the pattern is round with a hole cut in, and it can be worn back to front, front to back and upside down. It’s a very kind of Balenciaga looking dress, yet it can be packed flat into a little folded package. I think this is one of the most important designs Isabel did".  So... this is a MUSEUM PIECE!  Near Mint condition. Linen and silk knit.  Measures: 24" waist, 19" long skirt, stretch top best for Small.  It's an OLD size 6! The red belt did not come with it, but matches great, so I'm throwing it in.  FYI, Couture Isabel Toledo pieces sell new for $2770-$5500+ !  This is certainly more special than any of those as the revolutionary designed "Packing Dress" forerunner! Also Listed in the Museum Category.

#3786 - c. 1950's HOWARD GREER, Beverly Hills Glorious Sage Green Silk Chiffon Red Carpet Evening Gown!  Many of you ask how I can sell all my great pieces. The stock answer is... "it's my job, so I have to try not to get too emotional about any particular piece".  However, every so often, it becomes extremely difficult to let something go.. like... oh god... this... amazing... wahhhhhhh!  I have been holding on to this for many years hoping to some day wear it myself.  But it really isn't the best color for my very olive complexion.  But would look awesome on just about any other skintone.  Howard Greer was a top Hollywood designer who was trained under Molyneux and Poiret. This gown is a masterpiece of sage silk chiffon which drapes up to the original rose decoration, and falls to side trains.  In some photos I have hiked up the trains to show what it might look like for easy walking.  Still fabulous! Back metal zipper. Fully lined. The gown is not in Mint condition, but it's close enough!  One of my all-time favorite red carpet gowns!  Issues: see photos to see one tiny spot on front waist, two small spots on scarf, fixable heel tear at edge of hem of other scarf, minor discoloration at hem of scarf, and the flowers are wilted! However this is a rare opportunity for a top Hollywood designer's majestic gown. I only wish I knew its history, and who the lucky starlet was who wore this! Measures: 32.5" bust, 24.5" waist, up to 35" hips, 54" long from shoulder to hem.

#4886 - c. 1980's BOB MACKIE Couture Gold Beaded Gown! Previously Owned by WHITNEY HOUSTON!  One of the Holy Grail Mackie pieces!!!  Top couture Bob Mackie gown previously owned by Whitney Houston!!  This gown weighs an unbelievable 8 pounds!! Photographed in black and white for the "Unmistakable Mackie" book, this gown is encrusted with gold bugle beads! Looks like a 14k gold Oscar statuette as it drapes the body like the woman in the photo... less exciting on the dressform. This was not a Mackie gown meant for the general public. This is a couture piece with no lining. It's beaded only onto a black net background, so it's sheer, but only slightly as the beads cover every square inch!  Draping low cowl neck back.  Padded shoulders. Near Mint condition. Measures: 35"/36"  bust, up to 26" waist, up to 36" hips, 63" long from shoulder to hem in front 64" long in back. Sharon Stone's Mackie beaded gown from "Casino" sold at auction for $13,200.  And the original cost of this piece new would have easily been $15,000+.  These are the Mackies that will end up in museums... not the newer pieces that are just "pretty gowns".  Here's your chance to own the best of the best from Hollywood's fashion icon and masterful designer!  Also listed in Museum and Whitney Categories.

#4315 - c. 1980's BOB MACKIE Fully Beaded Fringe and Crystal Dress! $7,000 Original Price Still Attached ! So WHY don't I sell this dress for $7,000?? Seems crazy to me that we should be able to buy 20-year-old dresses for LESS than the original price in NEW, UNWORN condition!! Part of the problem is that it's only these very early net Mackie dresses (and costumes) that were priced at this level. There were many Mackie mass-produced dresses that were produced later, and often people don't know the difference. Always seek out the fully beaded dresses and gowns on nude netting - these were lined in nude material to be worn out in public, but if the linings were removed, they were the same nearly see-through dresses that were worn by Cher, Diana Ross and others! This dress screams Ann Margaret during her Vegas days. And these days, Laila Ali in "Dancing with the Stars"! :)  So these, along with Mackie's beaded costumes, are the collectable Mackies! (There was a strange silk modesty strap that you step into to hold the dress down, but I detached one side as no human could fit into the dress the way it was. You can easily remove the other side from the lining, but I left it as it is original to the dress.) Measures: 36" bust, up to 28" waist, up to 36" hips (37" tight), 32" long from shoulder to hem of underskirt with additional 4" beaded fringe. Also Listed in the Museum Category.

Worn by MICK JAGGER -
Verbal Provenance

[
ORDER ITEM #7190]

#7190 - Spring 2005 Collection BALENCIAGA, Paris Black Fully Bugle Beaded Concert Jacket! Verbal Provenance Worn by Mick Jagger!  I was hoping to find a photo of Mick wearing this jacket prior to putting it up on my website just to complete the provenance.  However, there is no question in my mind that this is exactly what it was represented to be (and if any of you Jagger fans can find me a photo of him wearing it, you get a $100 "finder's fee" from me!). I'd pay more if I wasn't SO convinced by SO many elements of this piece already. First off, Mick hangs out with Balenciaga designer, Nicolas Ghesquière, and wears Balenciaga.  Second, it's black (Mick's color), it's absolutely Mick's "look" (you can just see the cut "tails" flying as he stomped across the stage), and it's exquisitely designed and made so it would have been extraordinarily expensive!  Next, it's the correct size for Mick.. just about a female size 6 and quite abbreviated in the front (as Mick nearly always wears).  This jacket came to me directly from a gentleman in NYC who says he got it from an extremely wealthy woman who ran in the right circles to make this all very plausible.  I prefer absolute COAs or photos, but I'm selling this jacket for the price of a Balenciaga fully beaded jacket... and then Mick Jagger connection is just a bonus at this point!  Note, this jacket weighs a ton! Near Mint condition! Note... just to give you a clue to Balenciaga's prices... Balenciaga's simple little Cream Print Silk Beaded Dress from the F/W 2009 collection listed at $25,550.!  This is a million times more elaborate! I'm told by Balenciaga that this jacket retailed for $29,710 back in 2005.  So that's $32,365 in 2009 dollars (love those inflation calulators!).  But I can almost guarantee you that this would cost more if produced today... it's extraordinary!  NEW LISTING!  Also listed in Museum Category and 1930-Today Categories.
