c. 1970's Red Patent Dallas Telephone Purse (with Shoulder
Strap)
Just like Worn by Lady Gaga!
NOTE: this is NOT Lady Gaga's purse...
this is exactly the same as the vintage purse she wore walking
around New York City's SoHo area in 2011. Created back
in the 1970's, these were probably the original mobile phone!
This must have been the coolest thing!! Imagine being able to
plug in to any outlet and use your “mobile” phone. Ooh!!
It is basically a purse that you can plug into a telephone socket in
a wall to make phone calls (inside you will find the original cord,
and on/off switch and the cord connection socket). These were
created in a purse style or a briefcase style in red, white and
black and in an embossed patent or smooth patent. So you will
see a photo of Parker Posey wearing the black one. So you want
to know if it still works? Yup! I called my
husband on it the other day and he said it sounded perfect.
This one is in great condition. There are extremely minor wear
to the very edges of the shoulderstrap, one very minor mark on the
back (see photos), and the only other issue is there is a "rattle"
inside the phone handset. Can't figure out why, but it's in
there... doesn't created any issue at all. The handset is held
in place with original velcro and can be worn without with
shoulderstrap but carried by this handset as a handle. Groovy.
