FROM: Mrs. S. Kluck, Grand Marais, Minnesota.
DATED:  Postmarked Aug 30 1945.  US ARMY Postal service Postmark.

Dear Cyril:  The pkgs from Paris came Sat. July 14. They were somewhat flattened but the contents did not suffer too much.  I will repack the hat before I send it on.  Kathleen will be delighted with a Paris model.  I think my purse is very nice and gay.  Will get me a dark red straw hat (next time I go to Duluth) to match.  Am glad that I am able to have something from Paris too.  Many thanks!  Are you by any chance on your way to the States??  Seeing you're in France I dared hope.  Anyway I'm going to keep writing, and when the mail comes back I'll know for sure.  If you are not, please write!   I still don't know in which army you are.  I hear them tell on the Radio what they are doing with the different armies but never know where you belong.  I was glad to find out the dif placed you have been and for how long.  Henry Amyotte is home from Pacific but not discharged.  He got married to a Handgartner girl from Beaver Bay. Bob Johnson (from Duluth) is on his way home from London.  Will get married as soon as he arrives.  I'm praying that you'll be home soon too and to stay.  I'll write these and letters from now until they start coming back.  Love, Mom.

#6614 - c. 1945 Haute Mode MARYOS, Paris Dark Royal Blue Tall Turban with Original Gold and Coral Pin and Original 1945 Note!  Of all the hats in this museum collection, this one made my heart go "pitter-pat".  Not just because of the rarity, and condition.... but because of the note that comes with the hat! The accompanying note dated 1945 after the liberation of Paris was sent through the V-mail to an American Army GI from his Mother...  thanking him for the package which included this hat and a purse. The hat was to be sent on to "Kathleen"... I presume, perhaps his sister??   A true historic hat! Meant to be worn on top of the head, so if you have a particularly large head, it will fit your hair rather than your head. Excellent condition. I typed the text of the letter so you can read it!   Just click on the photo at left to see additional photos and the typed letter.   $ 1,685. SOLD
