#3156 - RARE c. early 1960's Labeled HUBERT de GIVENCHY - PARIS Lime Green Wool Tie Coat! You know that people call everything "Audrey", but they are usually stretching the definition (including myself!). However, this IS "Audrey" as it was designed by Audrey Hepburn's favorite designer, Hubert de Givenchy. Yes, he was the one who designed many of her famous movie gowns, as well as her personal wardrobe. Givenchy started working in 1945 for Jacques Fath and continued under Robert Piguet, Lucien Lelong, and Schaiparelli, with Balenciaga for his mentor. He opened his own house in 1952. Rare today (at least rare for me!) to find the Hubert de Givenchy labeled garments....this wonderful feeling soft wool (likely a cashmere blend) coat highlight's Givenchy's more simple yet colorful "architectural" style of the late 50's, early 60's. Has high empire waist and ties through two button holes in the front for closure. Swing slits in front and in back, make this a unique piece. Lined in green silk. Perfectly tailored with top stitching design. 3/4 length sleeves. 36" length. 16" sleeves. 15" across back at waist point. Excellent condition!!! Museum Quality!
SOLD - but on display in Museum Category for Research/Study
