#9971 - c. 1850's Gown of Muted Rose Plaid Taffeta Trimmed in Black Velvet! I have to confess, at first I put this on the mannequin with the hooks in front.. but something was definitely wrong, so I turned it around and voila!  You'd think I'd know better by now... but.... I can always blame it on menopausal brain freeze. Now as for the gown, it's a lovely muted rose colored silk plaid taffeta with great detailing (see close-up photos).  The wonderful bell sleeves are trimmed in strips of black velvet.   Off the shoulder bodice, flat front skirt with gathering at sides and more at back.   Hooks and eye closures at back.  Excellent condition! The underarms are actually quite good!.  There are a few (only a few) true pinholes (seen when holding up to the light.. and one seen without... and then a small area on the skirt of what seems like a faded out area (see photos).  It's nothing of great importance, and frankly I just tried to find it for you in normal light and can't find it!!  Even looking for it!  Measures: 32/33" bust, 26" waist, (high waist - between waist and underbust), 39" long from fairly high waist to hem.  It would fit me but there is NO WAY to get this on, because the armholes are only 10" around!!!  I can't get these sleeves up my arm far enough to get the dress on.  And I have fairly thin arms for my size.  So you will have to be quite thinner than this to get the dress on.  Or... renovate to open the armholes.  For display, it's gorgeous.  And it's very wearable (thin but still strong taffeta) if it will fit you!
