#9793 - c. 1950 JUEL PARK, Beverly Hills from Bergdorf Goodman
Nightgown and Robe Wedding Trousseaux Peignoir! In 1929 an
energetic 22-yr-old brunette began designing lingerie in Beverly
Hills. She built up a solid reputation as the worlds'
outstanding designer of fine lingerie with customers such as Joan
Crawford, Norma Shearer Carol Lombard, Jean Harlow, etc. The company
continued after Juel's passing and in the 1950's through 80's they
designed for Grace Kelly, Barbara Hutton, Liz Taylor and Barbra
Streisand, etc. Their moniker reads "Lingerie for the Perfectionist"
and are still selling handmade, one-of-a-kind pieces. This
came from an estate with the wedding gown so it was, indeed, part of
the wedding trousseaux and the wedding was in 1950. Juel
Park still exists and this set would cost over $5,000 new! Trimmed
in beige Alencon lace, ivory silk georgette robe and ivory silk
satin nightgown. The upper back of the gown has a nearly sheer
panel for a little extra sex appeal. The lace is masterfully
condition with just the tiniest pindot rust spots and holes on nightgown
near armseam and a few very small tears in robe near
bottom (again, hardly seen - but see photos of all issues). The ULTIMATE in Lingerie!!!
SOLD - but on display in Museum Category for Research/Display
