                                                                                                                                        Similar print Ossie Clark Piece

# 9208 - c. mid-1970's JANICE WAINWRIGHT, England Sheer Devore Viscose Chiffon Asian Figural Exotic Fabric Dress with Original Sash Tie Belt!  Back from the days when Janice Wainwright meant high-quality goods!  Per Vintage Fashion Guild:  "Ms Wainwright was, according to Judith Watt's Ossie Clark book, the only other designer permitted to use Celia Birtwell's printed textiles in the 1960's....as Ossie Clark greatly respected Janice as a designer. From around 1974, her work began to bear the simpler "Janice Wainwright" label.  Towards the mid-1970's, she continued developing her surface decoration techniques by using devore, satin ribbons, and simpler silver thread embroidery... and continued creating beautifully flattering clothes."  The material on this simple shirt dress is KILLER!!! Check out the close up photos to see the exotic Asian figural design and the awesome devore effect.  The dress is quite large, but meant to be worn tied at the waist to create the shape... but can be worn straight if you prefer.   Wide bell sleeves.  You'll need to wear a slip or something under, it's quite sheer!  Frankly, this dress should be purchased by a textile designer or museum... the fabric is THAT fantastic!  Oh... You'll find Janice Wainwright dresses in the Victoria and Albert Museum in London!  Measures:  up to 60" bust, waist, and hips, 48" long from shoulder to hem.  Excellent condition.
