# 5970 - c. 1880's Lovely Silk Soft Black Cut Velvet 2-piece Trained Gown with Handmade Ivory Lace Trim! WEARABLE SIZE!! Check out the photos of Lovely Linda wearing this gown!!!  It seems to be getting harder to find really nice, wearable, fancy, Victorian bustle gowns... especially a gown with handmade Brussels lace at the cuffs and around low square neckline.  And oh, the cut velvet!!  I have a passions for it, so forgive me if I swoon.  Even the hemline is quite different at the front with two additional rows of pleating of black and ivory.  Nice touch.  I don't know if you can see the simple, but quite pretty ribbons at the cuffs as well.  Measures: up to 35" bust, up to 25" waist (you can always fudge a few inches as it's covered at the back!  Cheating is acceptable!!), 42" long skirt from waist to hem.  Look inside the hemline to still see the original lace dust ruffle.  The interior of the skirt still has the bustle ties at back.   What look like steel cut buttons are reproductions that are SO damn good that they fooled me at first glance!  The original buttons were very similar, but some were missing, so now, at least,  they are all there (yea!).  The hooks/eyes are there to attach the bodice to the skirt.  Excellent condition with exceptions:  There is some fraying at the front near the buttons and a smidge near the waistband (see last two photos). The fraying luckily disappears pretty well in the cut velvet.  And there are a few minor spots on the lace (see photo).  And the very bottom of the skirt is split at the hemline.  So...  if you want a beautiful Victorian gown you can wear to your next event... this is it!    If perfect condition, this would list for nearly $2,000.
