#4023 - c. 1905 Glorious Trained Evening Gown of Black Silk Embroidered Chiffon with Beading! Every once in a while one of these truly special gowns comes on the market. You know, the ones that make you drop to your knees and thank god that fashion designers exist! Although there is no label in this gown, there is no question that the quality and design would lead you to believe that this is a Parisian gown. In Excellent condition... most would call it near Mint condition. Black silk organza embroidered with light cream flowers all over ground. Black lace and embroidered appliques create the design in the skirt. Black dotted net ruffle at hemline. The sleeves are angel wings! Black dotted net with tatted edge and decorated with black appliques, tiny silver sequins, and turquoise beads! Great décolleté bodice, so low that it just might slip a bit off the shoulder! Large black embroidered appliques fall from the blush blue runching below neckline studded with black jet beads, tiny silver sequins and more turquoise beads. Waistline looks like an attached belt with all the turquoise and beading! Skirt is fully lined in the original taffeta for the great rustling sound. Only issues I could find are some tearing of the inner cream chiffon - one small area where the chiffon ruffle under hem is torn and tearing of chiffon under the front front bodice. Both of these are INSIDE the gown. The exterior is nearly pristine.
SOLD - but on display in Museum Category for Research/Display
