#2119 - c. 1893 Spectacular Lavender, Silver and Gold Silk Jacquard Brocade 2-piece Gown with Velvet, Beads, Sequins, Lace, and Pearls! I've had a lot of antique gowns in my 36 years of collecting (bought my first Edwardian white dress at age 10), but I don't think I've ever seen a gown as perfect in color, shape, and detailing as this piece. The heavy lavender and gold silk jacquard fabric is just superb, as lovely as the day it was first manufactured! No stains, no fading. The elaborate detailing of yoke and mid neckline is just breathtaking. No other way to describe it. And then the blush silk velvet trim of the upper yoke and waistband just a perfect touch. The mid-bodice and entire bodice back is an ecru lace to offset the lavender. The entire outfit is in EXCELLENT condition. Good and strong. Even has an original little attached horsehair pad in the skirt. One of the most exquisite gowns for display. Looks perfect on a mannequin, great body!!
