#1873 - c. 1900 Museum Quality Silk and Netting 2-piece Trained Ballgown with Original Floral Decorations!! Wearable Size! Rarely does a gown come along that has survived in such extraordinary condition and is so exquisite that it deserves the ultimate respect....it's own name! This gown was named by its previous owners and they chose the perfect name to bring this gown to life. I'm pleased to present "Miss Rose". Near Mint condition. I have NEVER seen a gown that has survived with the original silk flowers in perfect condition. So often we see Victorian and Edwardian gowns frankly stripped bare of the original decorations. If you look back at the fashion plates of the time, you will see that most all the ballgowns were loaded with ribbons, bows, flowers, etc. We hardly ever see that! Now you can! In addition to the trimmings, the original two ecru underlayers (one taffeta and one silk chiffon... both trimmed in lace) are there and in fairly good condition (the chiffon looks great, the taffeta has some small splitting, but I've most of the time the taffeta has gone to dust, so this is actually quite good!) The top layer of the dress is black tulle (or netting) in Mint condition.
SOLD - but on display in Museum Category for Research/Study
