#9476a - c. 1960's Jo Robinson Inc., Wilmington Royal Blue Chinese Silk Satin Brocade Gown with Lighter Blue "Tail"!  Another garment from the Dupont estate! From Jo Robinson of Delaware where most of her clothes came from.  I believe many were custom made for Mrs. Dupont, often with Oriental or Indian fabrics.  Simple shape gown with unexpected lower "v" back.  Short sleeves.  The design element is the lighter blue but nicely matching waistband with attached long sash "tail" at back with a hem of fringed yarn!!  Back zipper. Measures:  37" bust, up to 30" waist, 58" long from shoulder to hem, 41" long from waist to hem. Excellent condition.  NEW LISTING! Also Listed in the 1930-Today Category.

#9444 - c. 1960's RUTH VARLAN 2-piece Summer Cotton Gown! Pink square neck cotton sleeveless blouse with "Indian" designed "v" trim gets tucked into a long cotton horizontal design skirt with matching waistband.  Wear separately or together! Looks like a one-piece dress as you can see.  Measures: up to 36-38" bust, up to 29" waist (but can move hooks to up to 31" waist), 42" long skirt.  Top has a metal zipper at back. Silk lined.  Nice weight to the pieces!  Well made.  Excellent condition except for one minor rectangular spot on upper skirt - like a tag was gummed on - which gets lost in the print, but it's there. Also Listed in the Under $150 Category.  Under $150, so final sale.

#9468 - c. 1960's Printed Chiffon with Gold "Chains" Gown! Here's a unique fabric! Hard to even describe. Tribal psychedelic? The printed chiffon part is easy, but then there are flat gold "chains" in the material. They don't look like embroidery, and they aren't heavy at all.. so what the heck are they?? Just look at the close-up photos to see. I'll let you tell me! Fun gown with a 4-layer skirt which opens at the front to appear like an overskirt billowing in the breeze.. but it's all attached, and only at the front to sides. The bodice has decorative frogs down front. Back metal zipper. Lined in hot pink silk. Measures: 30" waist, 59" long from shoulders to hem.

#9459 - c. 1960's COUNTESS ALEXANDER, New York / Jo Robinson Inc., Wilmington Floral Silk Chiffon Gown! Lovely, well-made gown! Hard to photograph the details as it's floral chiffon fabric over the same floral silk fabric! But in person this gives a very expensive look. The sleeves and the upper bodice are the same floral see-through chiffon as the upper layer skirt. Tiny, short standup collar. Great heavy hemline detail. Excellent condition... looks like it was never worn! 7/8 length sleeves with cuffs (great to show off your pearl bracelet). Back zipper. Measures: 38" bust, 31" waist, up to 47" hips, 42" long from waist to hem.

#9493 - c. 1960's ROSSINO-ANGELA Turquoise Silk Satin Gown with Flocked Velveteen Flowers! Ever wonder what the rich women wore in the 1960s? When the rest of us were wearing torn jeans and fringed leather, the socialites were wearing gorgeous, vibrant gowns like this. Brilliant turquoise silk satin printed gown covered with hot pink/purple flocked velveteen flowers. Bell shaped lower sleeves, "u" neckline to allow for a necklace, and wide waistband belt. Back zipper. Silk lined. Measures: 40" bust, 31" waist, 40" long from waist to hem. Excellent condition.

#9488 - c. 1960's RUTH VARLAN Purple/Blue Sari Silk Gown with Woven Silver Embroidery! Of the entire collection from the DuPont Estate, I picked five pieces that are my personal favorites. This is one. I suppose if pressed, I would choose this one as my "American Idol" dress. Changeable sari silk in a purple/blue hue with silver woven embroidery in all the right places. Back metal zipper. With original belt. Measures: 38" bust, 30" waist, 26" long from waist to hem. Excellent condition with minor pulls and if you look closely, a couple of minor small spots, but damn it's gorgeous!!

There are yellow spots on skirt below pots and one mid hip front, otherwise Excellent condition. Where are you gonna find another?? #9451 - c. 1960's MOLLIE PARNIS Silk Satin on Nylon? Sheer Dress Yellow and Light Blue! Very interesting and unique fabric. I've had one other dress like this, but I couldn't describe that fabric any better than I will attempt to do here. It's a semi-sheer nylon (?) woven with silk satin pattern. I know... you have no idea what I'm trying to describe. Sorry! It's fabulous... how's that??? Rarely seen color combo. Matching fabric belt with bow front. Cuffed sleeves. Tiny, short standup collar. This is one great feeling fabric! Yellow silk lining. Excellent condition, but with some minor pulls in fabric. Measures: up to 39" bust, 32" waist, up to 45" hips, 25" long from waist to hem. Marked size 14, but it's not anymore! I'd say size 10 due to the tightness at back (we wear our clothing looser today!). So sorry for the wrinkles at the hemline! Just getting lazy! Also Listed in the Under $150 Category.  Under $150, so final sale.

#9454 - c. 1960's Jo Robinson Inc., Wilmington Blue Metallic Gown! I decided to put most of the Dupont gowns on my larger dressform so you can see how they are supposed to look! Love this one! Cornflower blue raw silk bodice with modified boat neck edged in the same amazing blue metallic material as the skirt and matching belt/bow. The blue and gold metallic skirt has red, yellow and turquoise dots.. and the metallic material just lets the light "dance" on it! Lovely!. Measures: 39" bust, 33" waist, 41" long from waist to hem. Metal zipper back. Excellent condition. Silk lined... feels great on! Comes with the matching belt bow. Also Listed in the 1930-Today Category.

#9463 - c. 1960's Print Jersey Silk Gown! Ms. Dupont had loads of gowns! You may not need as many as she did, so I suggest you consider this gown for a possible "hem up". Would look great at any length.. mid calf, just under knee, just above knee, mini, or even as a tunic length to wear over pants! The silk jersey fabric of bright blues, pinks, green, navy, gold and whites is fabulous.... and the cutouts at the neckline and all the way down each sleeve are awesome. Just look at the close-up of the sleeve.. and it's lined in a minty silk if you catch a glimpse. Metal zipper back. Elastic cuff. Measures: 38/39" bust, 31" waist. Excellent condition other than just a light dirty lining. Trust me.. this one is pretty! Also Listed in the 1930-Today Category.

SOLD
#9474 - c. 1960's MAURICE RENTNER ORIGINAL Red Plaid Wool Coat! You might know the Maurice Rentner name since this is where Bill Blass got his big break in his career as "Bill Blass for Maurice Renter". So I wonder if perhaps this was actually designed by Mr. Blass prior to his name appearing on the label. If so... it's one of the earliest Bill Blass pieces you will find. Bill bought Maurice Rentner in 1970 and renamed it "Bill Blass". Great red and black plaid wool double-breasted coat with self-covered buttons and large notched collar. Fully lined in black satin. Measures: up to 40" bust, up to 44" hips, 42" long from shoulder to hem, 16" across back between armseams. Excellent condition with just some minor pulls in the fabric. Not a big deal. Under $150, so final sale.

#9502 - c. 1960's TANNER of North Carolina by Dorothy Cox, Polly's Shop, Fishers Island, NY Turquoise and Magenta Silk Print Blouse! Lots of labels for this blouse! Could have an Hawaiian label as it has that tropical feel... yet works great to spruce up any city outfit as well. Get colorful this year! We've had black for too long!!! Excellent condition. Measures up to 46" bust, however all these blouses have small backs, so I think it's best for about a size 8/10, 16" across back between armseams, 25" long from back neck to hem. Sleeves are 3/4 sleeve length (looks longer in photo, but wears just under the elbow!). Also Listed in the Under $150 Category.  Under $150, so final sale.

#9484 - c. 1960's Navy Lace Dress with Matching Navy Lace Slip Dress! Wow! I've never seen a lace overdress with a lace underdress! Usually the underdresses are plain slips. This lacy underdress gives this dress a very classy, rich look... and that's probably because it was a classy, expensive dress! You will love this dress. Pretty enough to wear both ways... with or without overdress! Scalloped lacy neckline, cuffs and hemline. Side zipper on slip and snaps hidden under buttons in back on dress. Measures: 37" bust, up to 31" waist, up to 41" hips, 42-43" long from shoulder to hem. Excellent condition. Nothing wrong.

#9487 - c. 1960's Floral Organdy Gown! I've recently seen a new Leonard, Paris gown that supposedly sold for $4500 and the coloration and floral design was incredibly similar to this 1960's gown! So what's old is new again! A voile/organdy type material in pinks, turquoise, greens and golds and lined in white. Back zipper. Has a white lace hemtape that I know Lilly Pulitzer uses, but there is no designer label. I'm going to assume that it's actually a POSH by Jay Anderson dress since the neckline matches another dress with that label. The Jo Robinson Inc., Delaware label is the store where Ms. Dupont bought most of her clothes! Measures: 39" bust, up to 30" waist, up to 40" hips, 58" long from shoulder to hem. So pretty to wear to a summer wedding! Add a belt if you wish! Excellent condition. Also Listed in the Under $150 Category.  Under $150, so final sale.

#9496 - c. 1960's Aqua/Turquoise Sari Silk Dress with Woven Gold Embroidery! Hard for me to name the color of this fabric as it is nearly a changeable look, but I will just call it aqua/turquoise silk edged in woven golden embroidery. Simple design with square neckline and piped waist. The perfect little dress for any Spring/Summer occasion if you, like me, are tired of "the little black dress". It's time to lead the world from black & white into color! Measures: 36" bust, 30" waist, up to 42" hips, 25" long from waist to hem. Side zipper. This dress is in Excellent condition but with a few minor issues.... I see two small spots on the bodice, and extreme light faded areas in the silk. They may be original, or have faded over time. See photos. All in all, it's still an awesome dress!

#9471 - c. early 1970's OSCAR de la RENTA Blue Jeweled Metallic Hostess Gown with Gigantic Patchwork Flowers and Huge Colored Rhinestones! Oh.. my! Imagine the oversized bright earrings that went with this gown! I'm calling this a hostess gown.. but it would be only for the most special "at home" party. Very fashionable in it's day... and would have been extremely expensive. You must look at the closeup photos of the "jewels" ... huge colored rhinestones which decorate the patchwork metallic fabric flowers on the gown skirt. Shirtwaist style buttoned bodice of turquoise blue metallic fabric with pointed collar and cuffed sleeves. Matching wide tie belt. Excellent condition. Top of the line Oscar de la Renta label. Worthy gown for a vintage clothing collector. From the Dupont Estate.

#9498 - c. 1960's RUTH VARLAN Turquoise Sari Silk Gown with Woven Gold Embroidery! Of the entire collection from the DuPont Estate, I picked five pieces that are my personal favorites. This is one. In my opinion, only the word can describe this gown... stunning. It is richness personified. Brilliant turquoise blue silk edged in woven golden embroidery. Faux covered buttons grace the entire front of the skirt. Measures: 39" bust, 30" waist, 41" long from waist to hem. Excellent condition. With original belt.

#9469 - c. 1960's Thai Silk Striped Evening Gown from the DUPONT Estate! I love this gown! Part of the large collection of custom designed gowns for the Dupont socialite (many other of her gowns & dresses are in the Special collection category on this website). She obviously had a love of thai silk, as this is just one of many gowns she had made from this fabric. I just thought this so cute! Love that stiffened peaked bodice with flat bow, and then just a classic princess sundress shape in hot pink / blue / purple horizontal stripes. Lined in hot pink silk! Back metal zipper. Measures: 36/37" bust, 30" waist, 40" long from waist to hem (with 3" hem). Excellent condition.
